by_o a_o vicissitude_n of_o light_n and_o darkness_n which_o the_o lord_n make_v and_o nature_n can_v never_o have_v find_v out_o have_v not_o the_o word_n reveal_v it_o but_o since_o the_o creation_n in_o the_o time_n of_o government_n the_o sun_n be_v but_o a_o instrument_n appoint_v by_o god_n to_o carry_v light_n and_o he_o that_o make_v the_o light_n can_v now_o in_o the_o government_n of_o the_o world_n if_o it_o please_v he_o put_v down_o the_o sun_n from_o this_o office_n and_o by_o some_o other_o mean_v distinguish_v the_o day_n from_o the_o night_n therefore_o no_o marvel_v though_o he_o do_v so_o in_o the_o beginning_n the_o second_o objection_n be_v touch_v the_o light_n of_o the_o moon_n moses_n say_v it_o be_v one_o of_o 2._o the_o great_a light_n which_o god_n make_v now_o say_v they_o in_o all_o reason_n according_a to_o humane_a learning_n it_o be_v one_o of_o the_o least_o of_o the_o planet_n and_o less_o than_o many_o star_n answ._n it_o be_v true_a which_o the_o different_a respect_n may_v be_v term_v great_a and_o lesser_a and_o in_o that_o place_n the_o scripture_n speak_v of_o the_o moon_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o other_o star_n great_a than_o it_o but_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o seâ—se_n because_o it_o appear_v great_a in_o quantity_n and_o real_o communicate_v more_o light_n yea_o it_o be_v of_o more_o operation_n and_o use_n to_o the_o earth_n than_o any_o of_o the_o star_n in_o the_o heaven_n save_v the_o sun_n the_o three_o objection_n moses_n say_v man_n &_o 3._o beast_n be_v make_v of_o the_o earth_n and_o fish_n of_o the_o water_n but_o all_o humane_a learning_n avouch_v that_o the_o matter_n of_o every_o creature_n consist_v of_o all_o the_o four_o element_n earth_n water_n fire_n and_o â—â—re_o ans._n moses_n speak_v only_o of_o two_o which_o be_v the_o principal_a and_o in_o they_o include_v the_o other_o because_o they_o be_v impure_a &_o mix_v with_o the_o other_o since_o the_o fall_n again_o some_o learned_a avouch_v with_o moses_n and_o be_v no_o doubt_n a_o truth_n that_o he_o speak_v only_o of_o the_o principal_a matter_n of_o these_o creature_n &_o yet_o the_o fire_n and_o air_n be_v and_o may_v be_v call_v element_n or_o beginning_n because_o they_o serve_v to_o form_n preserve_v and_o cherish_v the_o creature_n the_o four_o objection_n gen._n 3._o it_o be_v say_v that_o 〈◊〉_d eve_n before_o her_o fall_n be_v deceive_v by_o the_o serpent_n now_o this_o say_v the_o atheist_n be_v absurd_a for_o even_o in_o the_o estate_n of_o corruption_n since_o the_o fall_n there_o be_v no_o woman_n so_o simple_a that_o will_v either_o admit_v speech_n or_o suffer_v herself_o to_o be_v deceive_v by_o a_o serpent_n much_o less_o will_v eve_n in_o the_o estate_n of_o her_o innocence_n answ._n though_o adam_n and_o eve_n in_o their_o innocence_n have_v excellent_a knowledge_n yet_o they_o have_v not_o all_o knowledge_n for_o than_o they_o shall_v have_v be_v as_o god_n himself_o but_o in_o that_o estate_n ignorance_n befall_v eve_n in_o three_o thing_n for_o first_o though_o adam_n himself_o be_v a_o prophet_n in_o the_o time_n of_o his_o innocence_n yet_o both_o he_o and_o she_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o issue_n of_o future_a thing_n which_o be_v contingent_a second_o they_o know_v not_o the_o secret_n of_o each_o other_o heart_n for_o to_o know_v the_o event_n of_o thing_n contingent_a certain_o and_o the_o secret_n of_o the_o heart_n belong_v to_o god_n only_o three_o though_o eve_n know_v the_o kind_n of_o creature_n yet_o she_o know_v not_o all_o particular_n and_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v incident_a to_o every_o kind_n of_o creature_n but_o be_v to_o attain_v unto_o that_o knowledge_n by_o experience_n and_o observation_n neither_o may_v this_o seem_v strange_a for_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v man_n have_v as_o much_o yea_o more_o knowledge_n than_o our_o first_o parent_n have_v in_o their_o innocency_n and_o yet_o he_o know_v not_o all_o particular_n in_o all_o singular_a creature_n for_o see_v a_o figtree_n by_o the_o way_n as_o he_o go_v to_o jerusalem_n he_o think_v it_o have_v bear_v fruit_n and_o yet_o come_v towards_o it_o he_o find_v none_o thereon_o and_o in_o like_a manner_n eve_n may_v know_v the_o serpentine_a kind_n and_o yet_o be_v ignorant_a whether_o a_o serpent_n can_v speak_v beside_o that_o the_o name_n of_o the_o creature_n which_o argue_v knowledge_n of_o they_o be_v not_o give_v to_o eve_n but_o to_o adam_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o so_o strange_a that_o eve_n shall_v be_v deceive_v by_o a_o serpent_n god_n command_v noah_n to_o make_v a_o ark_n of_o 300_o cubit_n long_o of_o 50_o cubit_n broad_a and_o of_o 30_o cubit_n high_a this_o ark_n say_v the_o atheist_n be_v so_o small_a a_o vessel_n can_v not_o possible_o contain_v two_o of_o every_o sort_n of_o creature_n with_o their_o food_n for_o the_o space_n of_o a_o year_n the_o first_o author_n of_o this_o cavil_n be_v apelles_n the_o heretic_n that_o cavilled_a with_o christian_n about_o the_o ark_n and_o the_o answer_n be_v as_o ancient_a as_o the_o heresy_n namely_o first_o that_o the_o cubit_n of_o the_o ark_n must_v be_v understand_v spare_v the_o second_o answer_n be_v that_o as_o the_o jew_n have_v a_o shekle_n of_o the_o sanctuary_n which_o be_v great_a than_o the_o ordinary_a shekle_n so_o they_o have_v beside_o the_o ordinary_a cubit_n a_o sacred_a cubit_n the_o cubit_n of_o the_o sanctuary_n where_o of_o mention_n be_v make_v in_o the_o prophecy_n of_o ezekiel_n chap._n 40._o and_o that_o be_v big_a by_o the_o half_a than_o the_o ordinary_a cubite_fw-la and_o by_o this_o measure_n some_o say_v the_o ark_n be_v make_v but_o both_o these_o answer_n be_v only_o conjectural_a without_o good_a ground_n in_o
