be_v fill_v with_o sorrow_n all_o these_o particular_n be_v speak_v unto_o at_o some_o considerable_a length_n and_o then_o from_o the_o cause_n of_o the_o increase_n of_o their_o sorrow_n which_o be_v the_o near_a approach_n of_o his_o departure_n the_o hour_n be_v now_o come_v and_o therefore_o they_o be_v fill_v with_o sorrow_n we_o observe_v 4_o 4._o obs_n that_o the_o near_a the_o hour_n of_o christ_n departure_n approach_v the_o heart_n of_o his_o friend_n be_v the_o more_o fill_v with_o sorrow_n and_o bitterness_n this_o we_o clear_v from_o the_o frame_n and_o disposition_n of_o the_o apostle_n their_o heart_n be_v fill_v with_o sorrow_n as_o you_o see_v verse_n 5._o because_o that_o now_o the_o hour_n be_v come_v that_o he_o be_v to_o be_v take_v away_o from_o they_o from_o prognosticate_v christ_n departure_n yet_o be_v never_o move_v but_o will_v tell_v you_o it_o be_v all_o one_o whether_o presbyterianism_n or_o prelacy_n prevail_v provide_v we_o be_v still_o protestant_n and_o if_o change_v and_o alteration_n come_v to_o a_o great_a height_n they_o will_v not_o trouble_v themselves_o for_o that_o neither_o but_o will_v tell_v you_o it_o be_v all_o one_o whether_o prelacy_n or_o popery_n prevail_v provide_v we_o be_v still_o christian_n be_v not_o papist_n christians_o sure_o the_o disciple_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v not_o such_o their_o heart_n be_v fill_v with_o more_o sorrow_n as_o they_o see_v the_o evidence_n of_o his_o go_v away_o you_o see_v to_o what_o this_o region_n have_v turn_v already_o and_o therefore_o you_o that_o be_v indifferent_a people_n when_o a_o shake_n come_v on_o the_o house_n of_o god_n apprehend_v no_o danger_n although_o these_o thing_n prognosticate_v christ_n departure_n the_o point_n tell_v you_o that_o you_o have_v reason_n to_o doubt_v whether_o you_o have_v any_o interest_n or_o part_n in_o the_o rich_a load_v which_o be_v in_o christ_n ship_n of_o gospel_n ordinance_n among_o we_o the_o near_a the_o time_n be_v of_o christ_n departure_n the_o more_o be_v the_o heart_n of_o his_o people_n fill_v with_o sorrow_n second_o we_o reprove_v those_o from_o the_o point_n who_o though_o they_o pretend_v some_o interest_n in_o the_o rich_a load_n of_o christ_n ship_n and_o that_o their_o treasure_n be_v therein_o yet_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o touch_v with_o the_o dreadful_a evidence_n of_o christ_n departure_n they_o never_o change_v their_o cheer_n nor_o keep_v a_o rioband_n off_o their_o apparel_n for_o all_o the_o sad_a evidence_n that_o be_v among_o we_o of_o christ_n departure_n and_o go_v away_o but_o be_v as_o proud_a and_o as_o soon_o stir_v up_o now_o to_o passion_n and_o anger_n and_o be_v as_o vain_a as_o when_o there_o be_v not_o so_o dreadful_a sign_n of_o his_o approach_a departure_n sure_o the_o point_n reprove_v such_o the_o three_o sort_n reprovable_a from_o this_o point_n be_v those_o that_o be_v not_o only_o indifferent_a for_o all_o that_o be_v come_v on_o the_o work_n and_o people_n of_o god_n as_o the_o evidence_n of_o christ_n departure_n but_o also_o be_v debauch_v and_o drink_v away_o their_o spirit_n not_o remember_v the_o affliction_n of_o joseph_n the_o lord_n people_n be_v not_o such_o their_o heart_n be_v sorrowful_a when_o they_o see_v christ_n depart_v the_o next_o use_n here_o be_v of_o encouragement_n to_o these_o who_o be_v now_o mourn_v for_o all_o the_o affliction_n of_o joseph_n they_o be_v in_o their_o duty_n and_o shall_v rejoice_v with_o jerusalem_n when_o the_o lord_n shall_v put_v on_o the_o beautiful_a garment_n of_o joy_n and_o praise_n upon_o she_o again_o then_o we_o come_v to_o the_o second_o part_n of_o the_o text_n which_o be_v the_o encouragement_n he_o give_v they_o for_o hold_v up_o their_o faint_a and_o discourage_v heart_n that_o be_v fill_v with_o sorrow_n because_o of_o his_o approach_a departure_n in_o these_o word_n but_o i_o will_v see_v you_o again_o and_o your_o heart_n shall_v rejoice_v etc._n etc._n wherein_o first_o we_o note_v his_o scope_n and_o aim_n which_o be_v to_o have_v their_o faint_a heart_n comfort_v for_o which_o cause_n he_o apply_v this_o precious_a cordial_n 2._o there_o be_v the_o cordial_n itself_o viz._n the_o assure_a and_o not_o to_o be_v doubt_v promise_n of_o his_o return_n 3._o the_o time_n when_o he_o do_v apply_v this_o cordial_n viz._n when_o they_o be_v to_o meet_v with_o the_o storm_n and_o before_o they_o enter_v into_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o furnace_n which_o cordial_n or_o encouragement_n be_v draw_v from_o that_o which_o afterward_o they_o be_v to_o receive_v which_o be_v a_o joyous_a outgate_n 4._o there_o be_v the_o bless_a consequence_n and_o effect_n of_o this_o in_o this_o phrase_n and_o your_o heart_n shall_v rejoice_v last_o there_o be_v the_o firmness_n and_o stability_n of_o their_o consolation_n and_o joy_n they_o will_v have_v at_o his_o return_n your_o joy_n shall_v no_o man_n take_v from_o you_o though_o they_o clip_v the_o wing_n of_o your_o joy_n now_o yet_o shall_v they_o not_o get_v it_o do_v at_o that_o day_n from_o the_o first_o of_o these_o we_o observe_v 5._o obs_n that_o as_o that_o it_o can_v be_v able_a to_o keep_v the_o lord_n and_o his_o people_n asunder_o he_o will_v see_v they_o again_o this_o point_n we_o clear_v from_o divers_a consideration_n that_o in_o spite_n of_o the_o most_o swell_a and_o tempestuous_a blast_n he_o will_v see_v or_o visit_v his_o people_n again_o from_o this_o point_n we_o draw_v first_o a_o use_n of_o reproof_n 1._o use_v to_o all_o those_o who_o when_o the_o church_n be_v low_a turn_v their_o back_n upon_o she_o as_o if_o christ_n and_o she_o will_v never_o meet_v again_o they_o evidence_n much_o faithlessness_n who_o do_v so_o 2._o use_v second_o we_o deduce_v from_o the_o point_n a_o use_n of_o encouragement_n unto_o the_o people_n of_o god_n apply_v it_o to_o the_o present_a distress_n now_o upon_o the_o church_n christ_n be_v now_o go_v away_o but_o if_o any_o will_v inquire_v what_o of_o the_o night_n the_o answer_n be_v as_o our_o night_n approach_v so_o also_o the_o morning_n christ_n will_v see_v we_o again_o that_o dwell_v in_o scotland_n these_o thing_n we_o think_v fit_a to_o name_n this_o be_v your_o hour_n of_o sorrow_n because_o of_o christ_n approach_a departure_n but_o we_o shall_v dwell_v no_o long_o at_o present_a upon_o what_o we_o then_o speak_v but_o shall_v now_o come_v to_o that_o which_o we_o have_v further_o from_o the_o lord_n to_o say_v unto_o you_o at_o present_a and_o so_o now_o we_o come_v to_o another_o doctrine_n from_o this_o encouragement_n the_o lord_n give_v his_o disciple_n you_o have_v sorrow_n now_o because_o the_o hour_n be_v come_v but_o i_o give_v this_o unto_o you_o to_o hold_v up_o your_o heart_n against_o your_o present_a discouragement_n i_o will_v see_v you_o again_o whence_o observe_v obs_n 1._o that_o the_o assurance_n of_o christ_n return_n be_v the_o only_a cordial_n against_o the_o heart-fainting_n of_o the_o sorrowful_a soul_n of_o his_o people_n at_o his_o departure_n you_o see_v this_o point_n clear_a from_o the_o word_n his_o disciple_n heart_n be_v fill_v with_o sorrow_n and_o they_o have_v good_a reason_n so_o to_o be_v they_o be_v to_o want_v their_o dear_a master_n who_o go_v ay_o between_o they_o and_o the_o storm_n and_o he_o give_v they_o this_o as_o the_o most_o choice_a and_o only_a sufficient_a cordial_n against_o their_o heart-fainting_n i_o will_v see_v on_o
righteous_a it_o shall_v be_v well_o with_o he_o etc._n etc._n i_o command_v you_o speak_v comfortable_o to_o they_o though_o it_o shall_v cost_v you_o never_o so_o dear_a and_o may_v not_o this_o persuade_v you_o to_o it_o see_v it_o be_v his_o command_n therefore_o set_v about_o it_o 2_o motive_n you_o run_v a_o great_a hazard_n if_o you_o comfort_v they_o not_o ezek._n 3._o 17._o thou_o shall_v hear_v the_o word_n at_o my_o mouth_n and_o give_v they_o warning_n from_o i_o when_o i_o say_v to_o the_o wicked_a thou_o shall_v die_v say_v thou_o so_o and_o sure_o speak_v free_o against_o the_o wicked_a make_v much_o for_o the_o strengthen_n of_o the_o godly_a it_o may_v cost_v you_o dear_a your_o life_n may_v be_v in_o hazard_n for_o speak_v free_o against_o they_o and_o to_o comfort_v the_o godly_a but_o if_o you_o do_v it_o not_o their_o blood_n will_v i_o require_v at_o your_o hand_n 3_o mot._n comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n against_o the_o storm_n and_o you_o shall_v imitate_v your_o bless_a master_n who_o comfort_v his_o disciple_n when_o go_v away_o with_o this_o i_o will_v see_v you_o again_o 4_o mot._n if_o you_o do_v not_o comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n ere_o they_o enter_v in_o the_o furnace_n it_o will_v be_v more_o difficult_a to_o get_v comfort_n bear_v in_o upon_o they_o when_o their_o heart_n be_v down_o and_o they_o in_o the_o heat_n and_o bitterness_n of_o their_o affliction_n their_o present_a sorrow_n will_v not_o let_v they_o admit_v of_o comfort_n christ_n know_v this_o well_o for_o he_o say_v let_v these_o say_n sink_v down_o into_o your_o heart_n ground_n your_o comfort_n well_o now_o else_o you_o will_v be_v very_o incapable_a of_o hear_v comfort_n when_o i_o be_o take_v from_o you_o and_o slay_v and_o in_o the_o text_n he_o comfort_v they_o because_o he_o know_v they_o will_v not_o hear_v of_o comfort_n in_o the_o furnace_n and_o may_v not_o this_o stir_v you_o up_o to_o this_o duty_n of_o comfort_v the_o lord_n people_n now_o ere_o they_o enter_v the_o furnace_n that_o it_o will_v be_v a_o hard_a work_n to_o get_v they_o comfort_v when_o in_o the_o hot_a furnace_n of_o affliction_n 5_o mot._n comfort_v the_o people_n of_o god_n ere_o they_o enter_v to_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o furnace_n for_o you_o know_v not_o if_o you_o shall_v be_v near_o unto_o they_o when_o they_o shall_v have_v most_o need_v of_o comfort_n from_o you_o if_o a_o persecution_n for_o christ_n do_v send_v away_o faithful_a minister_n and_o their_o people_n into_o one_o shlp_n when_o banish_v or_o to_o thrust_v they_o into_o one_o prison_n together_o you_o may_v suspend_v your_o comfort_v they_o till_o you_o be_v send_v into_o banishment_n or_o prison_n together_o but_o the_o nature_n of_o a_o persecution_n of_o his_o glory_n appear_v 126_o psal_n when_o the_o lord_n bring_v back_o our_o captivity_n we_o be_v like_o they_o that_o dream_n we_o be_v so_o amaze_v with_o such_o a_o unexpected_a deliverance_n in_o this_o present_a distress_n whether_o by_o false_a accusation_n of_o they_o or_o false_a witness_n bear_v against_o they_o sure_o such_o shall_v not_o taste_v of_o this_o bless_a part_n of_o the_o marriage_n supper_n and_o gospel_n feast_v five_o all_o those_o who_o be_v not_o willing_a to_o adventure_v their_o whole_a estate_n i_o and_o life_n and_o geir_n in_o the_o same_o break_a ship_n with_o zion_n to_o die_v and_o live_v sink_v and_o swim_v with_o she_o in_o all_o her_o affliction_n and_o all_o such_o as_o upon_o the_o great_a hazard_n will_v not_o as_o they_o be_v call_v in_o their_o station_n do_v all_o way_n tend_v to_o her_o instruction_n and_o encouragement_n and_o last_o we_o excommunicate_v and_o debar_v from_o this_o noble_a dish_n of_o the_o gospel_n feast_n viz._n the_o joy_n the_o lord_n people_n have_v at_o his_o return_n all_o such_o as_o willing_o without_o remorse_n or_o endeavour_n to_o amend_v be_v wallow_v in_o the_o same_o sin_n wherein_o they_o do_v lie_v before_o the_o lord_n begin_v to_o smite_v we_o especi-o_a you_o four_o hour_n professer_n who_o think_v you_o love_n zion_n and_o do_v approve_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v best_o yet_o be_v not_o leave_v off_o your_o four_o hour-companion_n be_v it_o know_v to_o all_o of_o you_o who_o we_o have_v name_v it_o be_v not_o for_o your_o sake_n that_o our_o
lord_n jesus_n will_v see_v or_o visit_v we_o again_o wherefore_o we_o say_v unto_o all_o of_o you_o keep_v your_o hand_n from_o off_o the_o precious_a bread_n which_o be_v appoint_v for_o the_o mourning_n and_o heavy_a heart_a son_n and_o daughter_n of_o zion_n for_o only_o they_o share_v with_o zion_n in_o her_o consolation_n when_o the_o lord_n see_v she_o again_o who_o so_o love_v she_o the_o faint_a and_o tremble_v discourage_v heart_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v cheer_v up_o and_o revive_v when_o he_o see_v we_o again_o but_o we_o desire_v not_o altogether_o to_o leave_v you_o here_o and_o therefore_o we_o say_v if_o you_o will_v be_v so_o wise_a for_o your_o self_n as_o to_o join_v yourselves_o to_o zion_n and_o from_o a_o principle_n of_o heart_n honesty_n take_v a_o share_n of_o a_o suffer_a lot_n with_o she_o you_o shall_v be_v very_o welcome_a and_o upon_o these_o term_n we_o hearty_o invite_v you_o to_o come_v and_o partake_v of_o these_o dainty_n be_v the_o faint_a and_o sad_a heart_a people_n of_o god_n we_o be_v not_o speak_v to_o you_o of_o the_o great_a consolation_n wherewith_o your_o soul_n shall_v be_v satisfy_v when_o our_o lord_n
