thou_o this_o world_n as_o if_o thou_o use_v it_o not_o car'_v not_o great_o for_o it_o it_o be_v well_o it_o be_v like_a thou_o do_v believe_v that_o there_o be_v another_o even_o a_o more_o time_n of_o affliction_n but_o even_o when_o it_o be_v over_o thou_o bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n thou_o have_v ground_n of_o comfort_n for_o this_o be_v sure_o a_o sanctify_a affliction_n and_o consequent_o thou_o be_v not_o a_o bastard_n but_o a_o son_n yea_o even_o although_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a in_o the_o like_a degree_n as_o in_o the_o very_a time_n of_o thy_o affliction_n yet_o see_v thou_o be_v more_o fruitful_a than_o before_o it_o be_v well_o for_o the_o wicked_a return_n to_o their_o former_a yea_o oftentimes_o great_a sloth_n and_o coldness_n his_o last_o estate_n be_v worse_a than_o his_o first_o do_v thy_o conscience_n bear_v thou_o witness_v that_o although_o all_o other_o will_v break_v the_o lord_n command_n yet_o thou_o with_o joshua_n will_v serve_v he_o then_o assure_o thy_o obedience_n flow_v from_o some_o inward_a principle_n not_o subject_a to_o change_v and_o not_o from_o any_o outward_a respect_n of_o example_n education_n etc._n etc._n last_o be_v thy_o desire_n and_o care_v a_o serious_a desire_n be_v there_o ever_o such_o a_o waken_n a_o fray_n upon_o thou_o that_o indeed_o it_o make_v thou_o to_o work_v out_o thy_o salvation_n with_o fear_n and_o tremble_a take_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n by_o violence_n be_v thou_o indeed_o at_o that_o what_o shall_v i_o do_v to_o be_v save_v what_o shall_v we_o do_v what_o will_v thou_o have_v i_o to_o do_v lord_n etc._n etc._n here_o then_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o comfort_n for_o this_o you_o see_v be_v the_o way_n of_o the_o lord_n work_v with_o his_o own_o child_n this_o agree_v with_o the_o scripture_n both_o in_o the_o precept_n and_o example_n thereof_o now_o all_o scripture_n be_v write_v for_o our_o edification_n and_o comfort_n especial_o if_o thy_o care_n 1._o be_v not_o stint_v without_o some_o satisfaction_n in_o the_o point_n be_v not_o otherways_o put_v off_o or_o choke_v with_o the_o thorny_a care_n but_o like_o the_o desire_n of_o the_o newborn_a babe_n as_o you_o hear_v before_o and_o 2._o if_o this_o care_n and_o fray_n have_v make_v thou_o to_o eschew_v all_o sin_n to_o decline_v no_o duty_n o_o than_o thou_o shall_v not_o be_v ashamed_a for_o thou_o have_v respect_n to_o all_o his_o commandment_n and_o 3._o do_v this_o care_n of_o thy_o salvation_n and_o please_v of_o god_n take_v up_o the_o chief_a room_n of_o thy_o thought_n heart_n affection_n so_o that_o upon_o this_o run_v thy_o care_n all_o the_o day_n long_o and_o from_o hence_o arise_v thy_o special_a contentment_n or_o discontentment_n at_o night_n this_o wicked_a will_v do_v that_o thy_o goodness_n be_v like_o the_o morning_n dew_n thou_o work_v but_o work_v not_o out_o what_o thou_o do_v be_v but_o from_o a_o outward_a principle_n the_o lord_n have_v not_o give_v thou_o his_o true_a fear_n to_o wit_n to_o fear_v always_o to_o fear_v so_o as_o never_o to_o depart_v from_o he_o and_o even_o afterward_o to_o bring_v forth_o the_o quiet_a fruit_n of_o righteousness_n in_o a_o word_n thou_o keep_v not_o the_o rule_n and_o so_o be_v not_o right_a thou_o shall_v serve_v he_o in_o righteousness_n and_o holiness_n not_o for_o a_o day_n or_o a_o time_n but_o all_o the_o day_n of_o thy_o life_n take_v heed_n to_o this_o you_o that_o be_v so_o easy_o break_v off_o from_o a_o good_a course_n and_o from_o good_a duty_n last_o be_v not_o thy_o care_n kindle_v 3._o do_v not_o and_o do_v not_o this_o care_n and_o waken_n make_v thou_o renounce_v every_o know_a sin_n &_o cleave_v to_o every_o know_a duty_n but_o still_o
for_o thyself_o suppose_v that_o thou_o be_v sure_a of_o mercy_n and_o that_o thou_o have_v already_o obtain_v mercy_n yet_o thou_o have_v need_v nevertheless_o to_o humble_v thyself_o under_o the_o have_v be_v stone_v and_o burn_v with_o fire_n a_o fearful_a example_n of_o the_o fierceness_n of_o god_n anger_n against_o sin_n which_o shall_v make_v we_o say_v as_o david_n do_v my_o heart_n tremble_v because_o of_o thy_o judgement_n but_o you_o will_v yet_o say_v this_o be_v its_o true_a but_o one_o sin_n but_o a_o great_a one_o sacrilege_n but_o the_o lord_n be_v not_o perhaps_o so_o angry_a for_o all_o that_o at_o every_o sin_n o_o but_o consider_v if_o he_o be_v not_o what_o be_v these_o but_o outward_a judgement_n have_v he_o not_o also_o even_o for_o the_o least_o sin_n ordain_v eternal_a and_o intolerable_a torment_n how_o great_a then_o must_v be_v the_o indignation_n and_o abomination_n of_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n even_o against_o the_o least_o of_o our_o sin_n with_o those_o who_o be_v still_o guilty_a if_o so_o to_o the_o green_a tree_n how_o to_o the_o dry_a if_o the_o righteous_a scarce_o be_v save_v how_o shall_v the_o unrighteous_a and_o sinner_n be_v 7.13_o all_o which_o show_v that_o the_o contempt_n yea_o neglect_v of_o god_n word_n be_v not_o so_o small_a a_o sin_n as_o we_o apprehend_v it_o to_o be_v how_o then_o shall_v thou_o be_v humble_v it_o undertake_v both_o for_o his_o own_o part_n and_o we_o and_o in_o it_o promise_v not_o only_o upon_o condition_n but_o even_o the_o very_a condition_n itself_o which_o be_v very_o comfortable_a to_o conclude_v then_o this_o point_n of_o the_o covenant_n go_v to_o then_o o_o thou_o of_o little_a faith_n what_o hinder_v thou_o to_o believe_v the_o remission_n of_o thy_o sin_n see_v the_o lord_n god_n have_v not_o only_o promise_v it_o to_o thou_o but_o even_o solemn_o covenant_v with_o thou_o and_o then_o have_v make_v with_o thou_o for_o it_o
such_o a_o covenant_n so_o everlasting_a so_o free_a so_o complete_a and_o absolute_a a_o covenant_n able_a to_o answer_v all_o thy_o doubt_n obj._n o_o but_o i_o be_o so_o unworthy_a that_o i_o thou_o not_o suspect_v it_o and_o resist_v it_o hold_v to_o thy_o comfortable_a warrant_n thou_o fear_v the_o lord_n at_o least_o thou_o desire_v to_o fear_v his_o name_n for_o even_o to_o such_o from_o faith_n to_o faith_n and_o from_o grace_n to_o grace_n so_o from_o humiliation_n to_o humiliation_n moreover_o the_o work_n of_o humiliation_n namely_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o sight_n and_o sense_n of_o our_o own_o guiltiness_n and_o deserve_n be_v the_o very_a groundwork_n of_o the_o work_n of_o our_o salvation_n and_o sanctification_n and_o therefore_o shall_v be_v well_o lay_v great_o labour_v for_o and_o we_o shall_v strive_v to_o have_v it_o deep_o seat_v and_o stamp_v in_o our_o heart_n and_o memory_n for_o as_o any_o may_v feel_v by_o experience_n according_a to_o the_o edge_n upon_o our_o love_n and_o consequent_o upon_o our_o godly_a sorrow_n our_o zeal_n our_o obedience_n etc._n etc._n for_o then_o do_v we_o love_v most_o when_o we_o be_v most_o sensible_a how_o much_o be_v forgive_v we_o so_o great_a be_v the_o consequent_n of_o this_o point_n so_o then_o i_o say_v what_o i_o have_v speak_v for_o your_o comfort_n in_o this_o point_n be_v not_o that_o i_o
