they_o he_o will_v have_v to_o come_v upon_o the_o land_n for_o one_o of_o they_o he_o must_v needs_o undergo_v to_o further_o he_o in_o the_o work_n of_o humiliation_n as_o also_o to_o bring_v the_o whole_a church_n unto_o the_o like_a who_o then_o have_v incense_v the_o lord_n anger_n against_o they_o then_o david_n heart_n smite_v he_o in_o that_o set_n down_o the_o repentance_n of_o david_n be_v like_o a_o good_a guide_n that_o be_v still_o follow_v a_o little_a child_n and_o tell_v he_o this_o be_v not_o the_o right_a way_n leave_v it_o there_o be_v the_o right_a way_n walk_v in_o it_o but_o many_o have_v heart_n pester_v with_o pride_n and_o lust_n and_o covetousness_n and_o yet_o go_v a_o whole_a month_n nay_o many_o month_n and_o year_n together_o and_o never_o feel_v any_o rebuke_n in_o their_o conscience_n how_o come_v this_o to_o pass_v that_o other_o be_v full_a of_o grief_n and_o full_a of_o tear_n for_o their_o sin_n and_o they_o be_v never_o trouble_v for_o they_o be_v it_o because_o there_o be_v great_a uprightness_n in_o they_o than_o there_o be_v in_o other_o no_o sure_o it_o be_v because_o they_o have_v a_o more_o blind_a mind_n and_o a_o more_o proud_a and_o senseless_a hart_n than_o other_o have_v for_o the_o more_o humble_a any_o one_o be_v the_o more_o often_o shall_v he_o hear_v the_o voice_n of_o the_o spirit_n check_v he_o when_o he_o go_v gross_a offence_n lest_o our_o mind_n be_v by_o degree_n blind_v and_o our_o affection_n by_o little_a and_o little_o corrupt_v we_o become_v in_o the_o end_n very_a block_n and_o stone_n and_o have_v our_o conscience_n so_o darken_v that_o they_o will_v not_o accuse_v we_o or_o our_o heart_n so_o benumb_v that_o they_o will_v not_o be_v move_v with_o the_o stroke_n of_o god_n and_o with_o the_o check_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n after_o that_o he_o have_v number_v the_o people_n here_o be_v his_o special_a sin_n that_o he_o number_v his_o subject_n which_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v no_o such_o great_a matter_n for_o which_o god_n shall_v so_o plague_v the_o land_n and_o if_o there_o have_v be_v that_o measure_n of_o hypocrisy_n in_o david_n as_o there_o be_v in_o many_o of_o we_o he_o will_v have_v plead_v thus_o for_o himself_o what_o need_v i_o to_o be_v so_o trouble_v for_o this_o and_o what_o reason_n be_v there_o why_o god_n shall_v proceed_v so_o severe_o against_o i_o for_o the_o same_o do_v not_o moses_n and_o joshua_n holy_a man_n of_o god_n number_n the_o people_n in_o their_o day_n and_o that_o warrantable_o and_o why_o then_o may_v not_o i_o do_v the_o like_a have_v more_o absolute_a authority_n over_o they_o than_o they_o have_v but_o his_o heart_n stay_v he_o from_o all_o such_o reason_n of_o the_o matter_n and_o tell_v he_o that_o though_o he_o do_v the_o same_o action_n which_o they_o do_v yet_o the_o manner_n of_o do_v thereof_o be_v diverse_a he_o perform_v it_o not_o in_o obedience_n to_o god_n as_o they_o do_v but_o in_o pride_n and_o haughtiness_n of_o mind_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o multitude_n and_o strength_n of_o his_o subject_n before_o he_o esteem_v god_n name_n a_o strong_a tower_n for_o his_o defence_n but_o now_o what_o man_n be_v so_o loath_a to_o be_v under_o any_o christian_a government_n 1._o where_o they_o must_v be_v instruct_v how_o to_o do_v well_o and_o rebuke_v if_o they_o do_v not_o well_o they_o will_v none_o of_o it_o to_o live_v in_o such_o a_o family_n or_o congregation_n where_o they_o shall_v be_v catechize_v and_o restrain_v from_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o sabbath_n and_o other_o lewd_a course_n they_o will_v never_o endure_v it_o but_o will_v choose_v rather_o to_o be_v under_o the_o government_n of_o antichrist_n and_o of_o satan_n himself_o then_o of_o christ_n jesus_n let_v their_o master_n be_v papist_n cruel_a oppressor_n as_o savage_a tyrant_n as_o pharaoh_n be_v they_o will_v rather_o dwell_v with_o they_o then_o with_o godly_a and_o religious_a governor_n that_o will_v use_v they_o most_o kind_o and_o reward_v they_o most_o liberal_o for_o their_o service_n such_o be_v the_o israelite_n moses_n as_o the_o lord_n testify_v of_o he_o be_v the_o meek_a man_n upon_o the_o earth_n and_o withal_o a_o most_o wise_a and_o courageous_a ruler_n yet_o will_v they_o rather_o have_v be_v every_o day_n under_o the_o whip_n in_o egypt_n then_o under_o god_n gracious_a government_n which_o be_v execute_v by_o moses_n and_o as_o these_o be_v here_o to_o be_v condemn_v of_o great_a want_n of_o wisdom_n that_o will_v not_o submit_v themselves_o to_o be_v admonish_v and_o order_v by_o the_o lord_n so_o be_v they_o also_o which_o be_v unwilling_a to_o come_v under_o god_n correct_v hand_n which_o be_v indeed_o of_o all_o other_o most_o desirable_a and_o because_o the_o present_a occasion_n require_v it_o it_o will_v not_o be_v amiss_o to_o show_v that_o the_o pestilence_n wherewith_o the_o lord_n have_v now_o visire_v this_o nation_n be_v a_o favourable_a and_o gentle_a correction_n and_o that_o this_o sword_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v nothing_o so_o terrible_a as_o the_o sword_n of_o man_n will_v be_v if_o he_o shall_v cause_v that_o to_o be_v draw_v out_o against_o we_o and_o that_o for_o these_o reason_n first_o sword_n because_o herein_o we_o may_v more_o immediate_o and_o clear_o behold_v god_n hand_n which_o be_v a_o mean_n to_o draw_v we_o to_o more_o speedy_a and_o earnest_a humiliation_n whereas_o if_o we_o be_v pursue_v by_o the_o sword_n of_o man_n we_o shall_v be_v more_o distract_v sometime_o with_o fear_n of_o and_o greese_v for_o the_o enemy_n violence_n sometime_o with_o hope_n either_o of_o mercy_n from_o they_o or_o of_o aid_n from_o other_o all_o which_o do_v either_o utter_o withdraw_v we_o from_o or_o much_o hinder_v we_o in_o the_o work_n of_o humiliation_n second_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o pestilence_n the_o adversary_n of_o religion_n have_v not_o such_o matter_n of_o insultation_n as_o when_o war_n be_v hot_a in_o the_o land_n for_o than_o they_o will_v triumph_v in_o this_o or_o the_o like_a manner_n now_o these_o forward_a man_n shall_v pay_v for_o it_o down_o they_o shall_v all_o the_o sort_n of_o they_o they_o be_v wont_a to_o brag_v that_o god_n will_v be_v their_o buckler_n and_o their_o shield_n their_o refuge_n and_o their_o strong_a tower_n of_o defence_n but_o what_o will_v become_v of_o they_o now_o thus_o will_v they_o insult_v over_o god_n choose_v in_o the_o time_n of_o war_n but_o in_o the_o time_n of_o this_o sickness_n they_o themselves_o be_v exceed_o afraid_a &_o even_o at_o their_o wit_n end_n know_v that_o hell_n and_o destruction_n gape_v for_o they_o whensoever_o death_n take_v hold_v of_o they_o whereas_o christian_n be_v quiet_a and_o full_a of_o peace_n &_o joy_n in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n know_v that_o if_o they_o die_v they_o shall_v go_v from_o earth_n to_o heaven_n from_o a_o place_n of_o misery_n to_o a_o palace_n of_o glory_n three_o this_o be_v a_o marvelous_a great_a mercy_n that_o there_o do_v still_o remain_v the_o face_n of_o a_o church_n that_o the_o gospel_n be_v preach_v the_o sacrament_n administer_v &_o the_o profession_n of_o the_o truth_n open_o maintain_v whereas_o if_o there_o be_v a_o foreign_a invasion_n or_o a_o civil_a mutiny_n &_o insurrection_n the_o usual_a course_n of_o the_o minsterie_n and_o of_o the_o exercise_n of_o religion_n will_v be_v stop_v which_o now_o be_v not_o only_o tolerate_v but_o command_v beside_o now_o there_o be_v a_o continuance_n of_o the_o state_n of_o the_o commonwealth_n whereas_o when_o the_o sword_n rage_v in_o a_o land_n 5._o the_o face_n of_o the_o honourable_a be_v not_o respect_v the_o magistrate_n authority_n be_v reckon_v a_o matter_n of_o nothing_o and_o all_o law_n must_v give_v place_n to_o the_o will_n of_o violent_a man_n again_o in_o the_o time_n of_o war_n there_o be_v a_o utter_a subversion_n of_o all_o mean_n of_o maintenance_n and_o comfort_n we_o can_v enjoy_v our_o possession_n nor_o dwell_v in_o our_o house_n nor_o reap_v the_o fruit_n of_o our_o labour_n which_o now_o through_o god_n mercy_n be_v far_o otherwise_o and_o as_o for_o our_o estate_n so_o even_o for_o our_o life_n and_o for_o our_o soul_n the_o case_n be_v better_a with_o we_o in_o the_o time_n of_o pestilence_n then_o in_o the_o time_n of_o war_n for_o then_o all_o our_o family_n wife_n child_n servant_n and_o all_o may_v be_v barbarous_o slay_v or_o worse_o use_v before_o our_o eye_n or_o we_o before_o they_o and_o if_o not_o so_o yet_o they_o must_v be_v leave_v to_o idolater_n and_o in_o danger_n to_o be_v vassal_n of_o sin_n and_o satan_n but_o now_o if_o death_n come_v it_o be_v nothing_o so_o lamentable_a if_o life_n be_v grant_v it_o be_v nothing_o so_o dangerous_a for_o though_o we_o be_v take_v away_o yet_o our_o friend_n shall_v remain_v with_o the_o saint_n &_o servant_n of_o god_n and_o they_o that_o have_v be_v our_o christian_a friend_n will_v be_v they_o at_o least_o there_o be_v very_o great_a hope_n of_o their_o happiness_n both_o here_o and_o hereafter_o in_o regard_n of_o that_o liberty_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o through_o god_n goodness_n be_v still_o maintain_v and_o therefore_o great_a cause_n have_v we_o to_o magnify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n that_o when_o our_o late_a gracious_a queen_n be_v safe_a enough_o but_o can_v god_n or_o his_o angel_n reach_v they_o wheresoever_o they_o be_v though_o no_o infect_v person_n come_v near_o they_o can_v the_o lord_n hand_n find_v they_o out_o yes_o certain_o let_v they_o climb_v up_o unto_o heaven_n 39_o or_o go_v down_o into_o hell_n or_o hide_v themselves_o at_o the_o centre_n of_o the_o earth_n god_n eye_n be_v still_o upon_o they_o and_o his_o hand_n near_o unto_o they_o so_o that_o they_o can_v go_v safe_a no_o where_o without_o god_n favour_n if_o the_o pestilence_n be_v only_o in_o india_n we_o shall_v as_o easy_o be_v infect_v she_o nay_o who_o will_v have_v think_v that_o king_n vzziah_n shall_v have_v be_v plague_v with_o that_o stroke_n in_o such_o a_o holy_a place_n as_o the_o temple_n be_v where_o god_n will_v have_v no_o unclean_a thing_n to_o enter_v yet_o when_o he_o presumptuous_o usurp_v the_o high_a priest_n office_n he_o be_v not_o spare_v no_o not_o in_o the_o sanctuary_n so_o that_o this_o may_v be_v sure_o conclude_v that_o no_o place_n can_v shelter_v a_o man_n from_o misery_n if_o sin_n be_v harbour_v and_o entertain_v in_o his_o heart_n verse_n 16._o it_o be_v sufficient_a hold_v thy_o hand_n doctrine_n that_o as_o god_n appoint_v judgement_n to_o be_v inflict_v on_o his_o people_n so_o he_o himself_o will_v see_v execution_n do_v judgement_n he_o stand_v by_o in_o this_o place_n and_o direct_v the_o angel_n how_o far_o to_o proceed_v and_o where_o to_o make_v a_o end_n god_n will_v have_v jacob_n humble_v and_o therefore_o he_o send_v he_o to_o his_o uncle_n laban_n but_o withal_o any_o sin_n be_v it_o never_o so_o contrary_a to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n or_o of_o man_n other_o there_o be_v also_o that_o may_v just_o come_v under_o this_o reproof_n that_o care_v not_o who_o want_n so_o they_o have_v plenty_n nor_o who_o hunger_n so_o they_o have_v sufficient_a nor_o who_o sink_n so_o they_o swim_v though_o it_o be_v by_o thrust_v other_o under_o water_n second_o this_o be_v for_o consolation_n to_o they_o that_o can_v go_v from_o their_o own_o commodity_n and_o ease_n &_o credit_n so_o god_n may_v have_v glory_n and_o his_o people_n good_a they_o be_v of_o the_o same_o spirit_n that_o moses_n and_o david_n and_o paul_n be_v and_o therefore_o their_o reward_n in_o heaven_n and_o their_o praise_n on_o earth_n shall_v be_v suitable_a merciful_a man_n lose_v nothing_o if_o nehemiah_n have_v get_v together_o all_o the_o money_n in_o that_o country_n and_o have_v attain_v to_o be_v king_n of_o persia_n he_o can_v not_o have_v procure_v himself_o so_o much_o
