they_o neglect_v their_o duty_n towards_o their_o neighbour_n by_o their_o disobedience_n and_o maliciousness_n uncleanness_n th_a falsehood_n covetousness_n drunkenness_n and_o yet_o will_v hear_v of_o nothing_o but_o mercy_n they_o will_v have_v plaster_n before_o they_o be_v wound_v physic_n before_o they_o be_v sick_a cordial_n before_o they_o have_v corrosive_n which_o be_v absurd_a for_o exhortation_n use_v 2_o that_o preacher_n lift_v up_o their_o voice_n like_o a_o trumpet_n and_o to_o tell_v the_o people_n of_o their_o fin_n threaten_v god_n judgement_n against_o they_o for_o the_o same_o unless_o they_o do_v repent_v unto_o people_n to_o endure_v patient_o the_o threaten_n of_o god_n word_n to_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o willing_a to_o hear_v they_o because_o they_o will_v awake_v you_o up_o from_o your_o sin_n and_o call_v your_o conscience_n that_o you_o may_v abandon_v they_o yea_o when_o you_o come_v to_o the_o hear_n of_o god_n word_n make_v this_o reckon_n to_o impenitent_a presume_v by_o preach_v of_o the_o gospel_n unto_o the_o people_n to_o prepare_v themselves_o either_o for_o threaten_n or_o comfort_n according_a unto_o their_o present_a estate_n threaten_n if_o they_o be_v impenitent_a comfort_n if_o they_o be_v cast_v down_o through_o the_o consideration_n of_o their_o sin_n as_o also_o to_o be_v careful_a in_o the_o application_n of_o god_n word_n that_o they_o do_v not_o apply_v the_o gospel_n unto_o themselves_o continue_v in_o sin_n neither_o the_o law_n if_o they_o true_o repent_v they_o of_o the_o same_o this_o shall_v teach_v we_o when_o either_o preach_v nothing_o but_o judgement_n or_o nothing_o but_o mercy_n by_o the_o former_a terrify_a god_n child_n by_o the_o latter_a imboldn_v the_o wicked_a this_o reprove_v the_o people_n which_o either_o look_v still_o for_o mercy_n or_o still_o for_o judgement_n and_o which_o either_o out_o of_o a_o conceit_n of_o the_o sincerity_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n apply_v mercy_n unto_o themselves_o and_o judgement_n belong_v unto_o they_o or_o out_o of_o a_o needless_a or_o wrong_a suspicion_n of_o their_o own_o hypocrisy_n apply_v god_n judgement_n unto_o themselves_o when_o as_o mercy_n be_v propound_v unto_o they_o and_o they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n thus_o of_o method_n touch_v the_o end_n why_o saint_n john_n do_v thus_o threaten_v they_o it_o be_v that_o they_o may_v take_v notice_n of_o their_o present_a and_o miserable_a estate_n and_o while_o they_o have_v time_n may_v repent_v and_o so_o escape_v the_o danger_n hence_o this_o observation_n do_v arise_v that_o before_o god_n do_v inflict_v any_o judgement_n he_o give_v advertisement_n and_o warning_n thereof_o that_o it_o may_v be_v prevent_v thus_o he_o do_v unto_o the_o first_o world_n need_v not_o to_o give_v we_o warning_n but_o because_o he_o be_v unwilling_a we_o shall_v perish_v he_o do_v give_v we_o admonition_n of_o our_o danger_n that_o we_o may_v repent_v exhortation_n
