if_o we_o consider_v that_o church_n power_n communicate_v by_o christ_n to_o the_o officer_n of_o his_o house_n be_v not_o only_o a_o licence_n or_o permission_n as_o we_o note_v before_o but_o a_o charge_n of_o which_o they_o must_v give_v a_o account_n as_o it_o be_v say_v of_o church-ruler_n heb._n 13.17_o neither_o do_v i_o see_v how_o any_o who_o by_o their_o office_n be_v preacher_n of_o the_o gospel_n can_v free_v themselves_o of_o that_o wherewith_o the_o apostle_n charge_v himself_o 1_o cor._n 9.16_o necessity_n be_v lay_v upon_o i_o yea_o woe_n be_v unto_o i_o if_o i_o preach_v not_o the_o gospel_n and_o of_o that_o charge_v lay_v on_o timothy_n who_o be_v as_o much_o take_v up_o with_o rule_v as_o any_o 2_o tim._n 4.2_o that_o he_o shall_v preach_v the_o word_n be_v take_v from_o some_o and_o lay_v on_o other_o now_o he_o affirm_v the_o same_o of_o teaching-power_n this_o be_v intolerable_a boldness_n 2._o we_o have_v no_o better_a ground_n for_o judge_v of_o the_o diversity_n of_o officer_n in_o the_o church_n than_o by_o consider_v divers_a sort_n of_o work_n which_o some_o do_v ordinary_o with_o the_o lord_n approbation_n that_o other_o do_v not_o but_o be_v employ_v in_o other_o work_n what_o better_a note_n can_v we_o have_v to_o know_v what_o be_v a_o man_n office_n than_o his_o work_n which_o he_o be_v ordinary_o employ_v in_o and_o that_o with_o god_n own_o approbation_n wherefore_o if_o some_o elder_n preach_v other_o preach_v not_o but_o rule_v we_o must_v think_v that_o these_o be_v distinct_a officer_n and_o that_o their_o office_n lead_v they_o only_o to_o do_v what_o they_o do_v 3._o this_o learned_a author_n shall_v have_v bring_v some_o reason_n for_o what_o he_o allege_v viz._n that_o these_o unpreach_a eledr_n who_o rule_v have_v power_n to_o preach_v 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d shall_v not_o persuade_v we_o of_o it_o neither_o be_v there_o the_o least_o show_n of_o warrant_n for_o such_o a_o assertion_n if_o it_o be_v say_v that_o they_o preach_v sometime_o and_o therefore_o can_v not_o be_v without_o preaching-power_n answ_n it_o can_v be_v prove_v that_o there_o be_v any_o officer_n in_o the_o apostolic_a church_n who_o have_v preach_v power_n or_o do_v sometime_o preach_v and_o yet_o be_v so_o take_v up_o with_o rule_v that_o they_o do_v not_o ordinary_o preach_v 4._o we_o may_v with_o as_o much_o yea_o the_o same_o reason_n say_v that_o every_o officer_n in_o the_o church_n have_v all_o church-power_n and_o may_v occasional_o exert_v it_o though_o some_o according_a to_o their_o gift_n do_v ordinary_o exert_v one_o part_n other_o another_z and_o that_o deacon_n may_v preach_v and_o do_v all_o the_o work_n of_o the_o pastor_n though_o ordinary_o be_v better_o gift_v for_o that_o they_o serve_v table_n but_o this_o be_v to_o jumble_v together_o what_o the_o lord_n have_v make_v a_o ordinary_a separation_n of_o 5._o this_o opinion_n make_v the_o different_a work_n that_o church-officer_n be_v employ_v in_o not_o to_o proceed_v from_o distinct_a office_n or_o power_n but_o from_o different_a gift_n which_o will_v bring_v a_o babel_n of_o confusion_n into_o the_o church_n for_o 1._o as_o man_n think_v they_o be_v gift_v so_o will_v they_o take_v up_o their_o work_n and_o so_o most_o will_v ready_o incline_v to_o the_o easy_a work_n and_o think_v their_o gift_n lie_v that_o way_n to_o the_o great_a neglect_n of_o the_o difficult_a and_o main_a business_n and_o because_o ruling_n be_v sweet_a to_o a_o ambitious_a mind_n and_o laborious_a preach_n be_v painful_a we_o shall_v have_v abundance_n of_o ruler_n but_o few_o teacher_n 2._o by_o the_o same_o reason_n one_o may_v neglect_v all_o the_o part_n of_o his_o work_n that_o he_o may_v neglect_v one_o pretend_v that_o his_o gift_n be_v not_o for_o this_o nor_o for_o that_o and_o that_o they_o may_v be_v do_v by_o other_o if_o it_o must_v be_v say_v the_o church_n must_v appoint_v they_o their_o work_n and_o not_o leave_v it_o to_o their_o choice_n answ_n if_o the_o church_n appoint_v timothy_n work_n to_o be_v to_o rule_n and_o exempt_v he_o from_o preach_v ordinary_o i_o see_v not_o how_o he_o differ_v from_o the_o ruling-elders_a which_o this_o author_n dispute_v against_o notwithstanding_o his_o suppose_a power_n to_o preach_v which_o to_o he_o be_v a_o idle_a talon_n i_o mean_v if_o this_o be_v do_v
