be_v the_o light_n of_o god_n countenance_n discover_v to_o you_o be_v they_o lay_v open_a to_o you_o then_o be_v you_o true_o comfort_v in_o a_o way_n of_o free_a grace_n and_o love_n that_o be_v the_o second_o three_o if_o you_o be_v comfort_v in_o a_o way_n of_o free_a grace_n and_o love_n than_o your_o comfort_n be_v true_a friend_n to_o holiness_n of_o life_n that_o comfort_n that_o be_v wrought_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n without_o you_o be_v the_o great_a friend_n to_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n within_o you_o and_o to_o holiness_n in_o your_o life_n false_a comfort_n be_v a_o friend_n to_o sin_n a_o neighbour_n a_o guard_n to_o sin_n but_o no_o friend_n to_o true_a and_o gracious_a comfort_n yea_o those_o that_o have_v this_o false_a comfort_n can_v endure_v sin_n against_o conscience_n but_o now_o where_o there_o be_v true_a comfort_n and_o comfort_n from_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n there_o conscience_n be_v as_o the_o apple_n of_o the_o eye_n and_o the_o man_n can_v endure_v the_o least_o sin_n he_o can_v bear_v the_o least_o mote_n of_o sin_n to_o lie_v upon_o his_o conscience_n how_o be_v it_o therefore_o with_o you_o be_v your_o comfort_n a_o friend_n to_o holiness_n of_o life_n and_o can_v you_o say_v the_o more_o comfort_v i_o be_o the_o more_o holy_a i_o be_o then_o you_o be_v true_o comfort_v but_o suppose_v i_o want_v comfort_n now_o and_o that_o i_o be_o one_o of_o a_o droop_a tremble_a spirit_n and_o of_o a_o afflict_a heart_n what_o shall_v i_o do_v that_o i_o may_v be_v comfort_v and_o comfort_v in_o a_o way_n of_o free_a grace_n i_o answer_v first_o go_v away_o and_o be_v sensible_a of_o your_o unbelief_n for_o it_o be_v want_v of_o believe_v that_o hinder_v our_o comfort_n and_o when_o the_o comforter_n come_v he_o will_v convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n and_o especial_o of_o unbelief_n will_v you_o then_o be_v comfort_v in_o a_o way_n of_o free_a love_n go_v then_o i_o say_v and_o be_v sensible_a of_o your_o unbelief_n and_o be_v humble_v for_o it_o second_o observe_v what_o those_o thing_n be_v that_o hinder_v your_o spiritual_a comfort_n and_o take_v heed_n of_o they_o they_o be_v many_o i_o will_v only_o name_v some_o of_o they_o as_o first_o worldly_a fear_n and_o worldly_a delight_n these_o be_v enemy_n to_o true_a comfort_n second_o sin_n against_o conscience_n they_o that_o sin_n against_o knowledge_n will_v hardly_o have_v peace_n of_o conscience_n nay_o it_o be_v pity_n they_o shall_v have_v peace_n lest_o they_o be_v engage_v and_o encourage_v thereby_o to_o sin_n those_o that_o sin_n against_o conscience_n will_v hardly_o have_v peace_n do_v you_o think_v to_o have_v the_o spirit_n to_o be_v your_o friend_n who_o you_o grieve_v so_o often_o if_o then_o you_o will_v be_v true_o comfort_v you_o must_v have_v a_o great_a care_n of_o sin_v against_o conscience_n and_o thereby_o grieve_v the_o spirit_n that_o spirit_n whereby_o you_o be_v seal_v to_o the_o day_n of_o redemption_n ephes_n 4.30_o will_v you_o then_o be_v true_o comfort_v observe_v i_o say_v these_o thing_n that_o hinder_v your_o spiritual_a comfort_n can_v you_o think_v that_o what_o you_o grieve_v and_o belove_a think_v on_o these_o thing_n and_o compare_v they_o with_o your_o own_o daily_a experience_n i_o say_v if_o you_o will_v be_v true_o comfort_v do_v not_o rest_v on_o your_o own_o performance_n as_o we_o be_v apt_a to_o rest_v upon_o our_o own_o righteousness_n in_o reference_n to_o our_o justification_n so_o we_o be_v apt_a also_o to_o rest_v upon_o our_o own_o performance_n in_o reference_n to_o our_o comfort_n o_o take_v heed_n you_o do_v not_o go_v about_o to_o establish_v your_o own_o comfort_n upon_o the_o bottom_n of_o your_o own_o performance_n for_o if_o you_o do_v you_o will_v not_o submit_v to_o the_o consolation_n of_o god_n five_o if_o you_o will_v be_v comfort_v in_o a_o way_n of_o free_a grace_n and_o love_n then_o study_v much_o the_o freeness_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n people_n be_v no_o more_o comfort_v it_o be_v because_o they_o see_v no_o more_o of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n the_o free_a grace_n of_o god_n the_o more_o you_o look_v into_o the_o riches_n and_o freeness_n of_o god_n grace_n the_o more_o you_o will_v be_v comfort_v six_o if_o you_o want_v comfort_n at_o any_o time_n walk_v gracious_o in_o the_o want_n of_o it_o when_o you_o want_v comfort_n go_v to_o god_n and_o say_v lord_n although_o i_o can_v see_v thou_o yet_o will_v i_o serve_v thou_o and_o although_o i_o can_v enjoy_v thou_o yet_o i_o he_o will_v resolve_v to_o go_v forth_o against_o they_o rom._n 2.4_o 5._o verse_n despise_v thou_o the_o riches_n of_o his_o goodness_n and_o forbearance_n and_o long_o suffer_v not_o know_v that_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n lead_v thou_o to_o repentance_n but_o after_o thy_o hardness_n and_o impenitent_a heart_n treasure_v up_o unto_o thyself_o wrath_n against_o the_o day_n of_o wrath_n and_o according_a to_o that_o of_o christ_n if_o they_o persecute_v you_o in_o one_o city_n flee_v unto_o another_o until_o the_o son_n

look_n for_o yet_o have_v you_o not_o return_v unto_o i_o say_v the_o lord_n the_o lord_n repeat_v it_o again_o and_o again_o in_o the_o close_a of_o several_a verse_n though_o i_o have_v be_v at_o for_o great_a assurance_n or_o if_o god_n intend_v to_o raise_v you_o to_o great_a honour_n in_o the_o world_n he_o will_v first_o suffer_v you_o to_o lie_v under_o some_o great_a reproach_n that_o
