no_o long_o be_v evil_a speak_v of_o which_o be_v the_o same_o now_o that_o it_o be_v in_o the_o beginning_n and_o this_o bring_v i_o to_o that_o which_o i_o chief_o intend_v which_o be_v as_o i_o lord_n which_o they_o run_v into_o and_o be_v safe_a this_o be_v their_o munition_n of_o rock_n whereunto_o their_o adversary_n can_v climb_v up_o and_o though_o they_o do_v what_o in_o they_o lie_v to_o pull_v they_o out_o from_o thence_o yet_o their_o arm_n be_v too_o short_a to_o reach_v they_o their_o strength_n too_o weak_a to_o hurt_v they_o their_o power_n of_o no_o force_n against_o they_o whilst_o they_o abide_v in_o this_o safe_a place_n notwithstanding_o great_a be_v the_o wrath_n of_o the_o enemy_n who_o intend_v they_o mischief_n so_o that_o what_o he_o can_v do_v by_o power_n he_o will_v seek_v to_o do_v by_o policy_n insinuate_v into_o the_o mind_n of_o people_n that_o though_o it_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n which_o they_o pretend_v unto_o yet_o it_o be_v a_o spirit_n of_o error_n that_o they_o be_v lead_v by_o which_o suggestion_n of_o satan_n have_v take_v place_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o so_o many_o that_o be_v not_o the_o god_n of_o truth_n engage_v on_o their_o side_n to_o persuade_v people_n from_o this_o false_a opinion_n concern_v they_o it_o will_v seem_v a_o utter_a impossibility_n but_o know_v and_o be_v well_o assure_v of_o this_o viz._n that_o the_o lord_n strength_n be_v make_v perfect_a in_o his_o people_n weakness_n i_o as_o one_o of_o the_o least_o of_o the_o thousand_o of_o israel_n have_v undertake_v in_o his_o name_n to_o go_v forth_o against_o those_o who_o have_v rise_v up_o against_o they_o though_o i_o know_v many_o be_v the_o cruel_a mock_n and_o hard_a using_n from_o profane_a on_o the_o one_o hand_n with_o evil_a surmising_n and_o severe_a censuring_n from_o professor_n on_o the_o other_o that_o have_v be_v the_o lot_n of_o this_o people_n to_o bear_v some_o of_o which_o from_o the_o latter_a of_o these_o to_o who_o i_o chief_o write_v i_o hope_v have_v not_o be_v so_o much_o out_o of_o disaffection_n to_o the_o truth_n as_o misapprehension_n about_o the_o principle_n of_o it_o as_o believe_v that_o this_o people_n in_o who_o behalf_n i_o be_o now_o constrain_v to_o write_v preach_v damnable_a doctrine-the_a which_o i_o have_v hear_v report_v of_o they_o some_o say_v ing_z they_o deny_v the_o scripture_n other_o say_v they_o deny_v the_o man_n christ_n jesus_n with_o all_o the_o benefit_n that_o by_o his_o active_a and_o passive_a obedience_n as_o also_o by_o his_o offer_v up_o of_o himself_o a_o sacrifice_n to_o god_n for_o we_o do_v thereby_o accrue_v to_o we_o together_o with_o justfiication_n by_o faith_n which_o be_v in_o he_o and_o the_o imputation_n of_o his_o righteousness_n to_o man_n other_o somewhat_o more_o moderate_a yet_o have_v affirm_v that_o whatever_o they_o may_v own_v as_o to_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n yet_o they_o deny_v the_o resurrection_n of_o his_o body_n and_o of_o the_o body_n of_o believer_n so_o that_o they_o have_v say_v though_o they_o dare_v not_o charge_v they_o with_o dimnable_a doctrine_n yet_o certain_o they_o be_v of_o very_o dangerous_a opinion_n as_o concern_v original_a sin_n and_o the_o institution_n of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o in_o point_n of_o free_a will_n and_o inherent_a righteousness_n and_o in_o hold_v a_o possibility_n of_o a_o total_a fall_v from_o true_a grace_n and_o yet_o they_o plead_v perfection_n and_o reckon_v themselves_o infallible_a say_v they_o for_o all_o this_o and_o herein_o they_o liken_v they_o to_o the_o papist_n these_o be_v some_o of_o the_o foul_a aspersion_n false_a accusation_n and_o misrepresentation_n that_o have_v be_v cast_v upon_o this_o people_n of_o the_o deal_n of_o the_o lord_n with_o themselves_o in_o day_n that_o be_v past_a and_o for_o the_o comfort_v and_o refresh_v of_o their_o spirit_n to_o feel_v how_o the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n prosper_v in_o other_o of_o his_o people_n and_o for_o the_o clear_n and_o make_v glad_a their_o heart_n to_o hear_v how_o truth_n prevail_v and_o get_v ground_n in_o the_o earth_n this_o therefore_o be_v the_o end_n of_o all_o declaration_n among_o we_o viz._n that_o the_o ignorant_a may_v be_v instruct_v that_o gainsayers_a may_v be_v convince_v that_o the_o weak_a may_v be_v confirm_v and_o that_o the_o strong_a may_v be_v consolate_v therefore_o do_v our_o minister_n labour_n in_o the_o word_n and_o doctrine_n to_o convert_v sinner_n to_o christ_n jesus_n the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o to_o build_v up_o saint_n in_o their_o most_o holy_a faith_n and_o to_o edify_v one_o another_o in_o love_n thus_o much_o in_o answer_n to_o the_o objection_n so_o i_o return_v to_o the_o point_n in_o that_o wait_v for_o he_o then_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n if_o they_o fail_v of_o the_o riches_n of_o that_o grace_n which_o be_v treasure_v up_o in_o he_o this_o be_v he_o who_o work_n and_o way_n be_v all_o perfect_a and_o in_o he_o we_o be_v make_v complete_a that_o be_v as_o we_o be_v guide_v by_o his_o spirit_n which_o he_o give_v to_o lead_v the_o saint_n into_o all_o truth_n according_a to_o his_o promise_n john_n 16._o 13_o 14._o howbeit_o when_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n be_v come_v he_o will_v lead_v you_o into_o all_o truth_n for_o he_o shall_v take_v of_o i_o and_o shall_v show_v it_o unto_o you_o say_v christ_n and_o this_o his_o spirit_n by_o which_o his_o people_n be_v lead_v be_v a_o infallible_a spirit_n now_o if_o any_o man_n have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n and_o its_o follower_n in_o all_o which_o christ_n the_o light_n and_o life_n of_o man_n be_v all_o in_o all_o unto_o his_o people_n 4._o for_o christianity_n do_v not_o consist_v in_o the_o belief_n of_o so_o many_o doctrine_n article_n and_o principle_n as_o some_o suppose_v but_o in_o conformity_n unto_o that_o one_o eternal_a principle_n to_o wit_n the_o light_n of_o christ_n manifest_v in_o the_o conscience_n and_o yet_o lead_v into_o a_o heavenly_a order_n both_o in_o doctrine_n principle_n and_o conversation_n according_a to_o the_o diversity_n of_o its_o gift_n whereby_o man_n come_v not_o to_o be_v at_o liberty_n in_o his_o own_o will_n but_o bind_v again_o to_o god_n which_o be_v the_o true_a signification_n of_o the_o word_n religion_n and_o this_o light_n of_o the_o unerring_a spirit_n by_o which_o the_o lord_n lead_v his_o people_n in_o the_o way_n everlasting_a it_o shine_v within_o mark_n it_o shine_v in_o the_o darkness_n though_o the_o darkness_n comprehend_v it_o not_o as_o say_v the_o apostle_n john_n 1._o 5._o it_o shine_v in_o the_o dark_a heart_n of_o man_n though_o man_n in_o his_o dark_a state_n can_v discern_v what_o it_o be_v yet_o be_v this_o that_o sure_a word_n of_o prophecy_n whereunto_o we_o do_v well_o to_o take_v heed_n as_o unto_o a_o light_n that_o shine_v in_o a_o dark_a place_n until_o the_o day_n dawn_n and_o the_o daystar_n arise_v in_o our_o heart_n according_a to_o that_o 2_o pet._n 1._o â—9_n which_o be_v as_o much_o as_o if_o the_o apostle_n have_v say_v this_o be_v commendable_a that_o you_o give_v diligent_a heed_n to_o the_o least_o measure_n of_o this_o light_n or_o grace_n of_o god_n which_o he_o have_v dispense_v to_o you_o till_o he_o shall_v see_v fit_a to_o bestow_v a_o great_a measure_n upon_o you_o for_o it_o be_v still_o but_o one_o thing_n that_o i_o be_o describe_v although_o render_v by_o divers_a name_n inasmuch_o as_o the_o sure_a word_n of_o prophecy_n and_o the_o daystar_n here_o speak_v of_o differ_v only_o in_o degree_n not_o in_o nature_n and_o kind_a both_o which_o expression_n denote_v to_o we_o that_o one_o gift_n of_o light_n and_o grace_n through_o christ_n jesus_n free_o bestow_v on_o all_o man_n and_o according_a to_o the_o improvement_n that_o they_o make_v of_o their_o measure_n so_o a_o increase_n thereof_o be_v administer_v to_o they_o it_o be_v by_o this_o light_n that_o job_n walk_v through_o darkness_n job_n 29._o 8._o and_o it_o be_v by_o this_o light_n that_o we_o come_v to_o see_v our_o darkness_n but_o it_o be_v not_o that_o we_o shall_v abide_v in_o darkness_n same_o for_o say_v the_o apostle_n to_o the_o corinthian_n know_v you_o not_o that_o you_o be_v the_o temple_n of_o god_n and_o that_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n dwell_v in_o you_o for_o you_o be_v the_o temple_n of_o the_o live_a god_n as_o god_n have_v say_v i_o will_v dwell_v in_o they_o and_o walk_v in_o they_o 1_o cor._n 3._o 16._o 2_o cor._n 6._o 16._o now_o since_o god_n himself_o be_v say_v in_o scripture_n to_o dwell_v and_o walk_v in_o his_o people_n why_o shall_v it_o be_v think_v arrogant_a for_o they_o to_o say_v christ_n in_o they_o be_v the_o hope_n of_o their_o glory_n according_a to_o that_o of_o the_o apostle_n col._n 1._o 27._o to_o who_o god_n will_v make_v know_v what_o be_v the_o riches_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o this_o mystery_n among_o the_o gentile_n christ_n in_o you_o the_o hope_n of_o glory_n and_o let_v i_o tell_v you_o this_o be_v the_o judgement_n of_o dr._n langly_n same_o which_o i_o myself_o hear_v from_o he_o in_o a_o sermon_n preach_v upon_o that_o text_n viz._n that_o the_o great_a gospel_n treasure_n be_v the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o glory_n of_o that_o treasure_n be_v christ_n in_o we_o this_o be_v his_o observation_n and_o this_o i_o think_v be_v confession_n clear_a enough_o to_o the_o truth_n of_o our_o assertion_n viz._n that_o in_o be_v guide_v by_o the_o light_n which_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n within_o we_o hereby_o a_o sure_a hope_n of_o eternal_a glory_n be_v give_v to_o we_o however_o we_o do_v not_o conclude_v christ_n in_o ourselves_o only_o but_o we_o say_v a_o measure_n of_o his_o light_n in_o order_n to_o show_v the_o way_n of_o life_n every_o man_n be_v or_o have_v be_v enlighten_v with_o nor_o yet_o do_v we_o include_v he_o in_o the_o fleshly_a temple_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n heart_n so_o as_o to_o exclude_v he_o from_o be_v any_o where_o else_o but_o as_o we_o know_v his_o presence_n fill_v heaven_n and_o earth_n so_o we_o believe_v that_o notwithstanding_o his_o appearance_n in_o our_o heart_n he_o be_v continual_o at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o god_n at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o majesty_n on_o high_a ever_o live_v to_o make_v intercession_n for_o we_o and_o by_o his_o spirit_n we_o feel_v the_o signification_n thereof_o within_o we_o for_o this_o grace_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o light_n of_o jesus_n it_o be_v a_o measure_n of_o the_o divine_a spirit_n and_o a_o manifestation_n of_o it_o be_v give_v to_o every_o man_n to_o profit_v withal_o see_v 1_o cor._n 12.7_o yea_o this_o universal_a principle_n which_o i_o be_o describe_v it_o be_v a_o measure_n of_o the_o quicken_a spirit_n even_o of_o that_o spirit_n which_o raise_v up_o jesus_n from_o the_o dead_a by_o the_o indwel_n of_o which_o in_o we_o we_o come_v to_o be_v renew_v in_o the_o spirit_n of_o our_o mind_n and_o to_o have_v our_o mortal_a body_n quicken_v so_o as_o to_o capacitate_v we_o to_o serve_v the_o lord_n with_o our_o spirit_n and_o with_o our_o body_n which_o be_v he_o now_o if_o any_o shall_v think_v i_o have_v raise_v this_o principle_n too_o high_a
first_o divine_a nature_n and_o seed_n in_o which_o he_o stand_v before_o transgression_n here_o be_v his_o fall_n and_o degeneration_n and_o so_o he_o come_v by_o that_o unexpressible_a loss_n of_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n and_o freedom_n of_o will_n that_o now_o the_o lord_n be_v angry_a with_o he_o he_o have_v no_o power_n to_o do_v any_o thing_n to_o appease_v he_o the_o garment_n of_o innocency_n be_v lose_v their_o fig-leaf_n apron_n can_v not_o hide_v their_o shameful_a nakedness_n from_o the_o lord_n which_o he_o see_v and_o take_v notice_n of_o compassionate_o make_v they_o coat_n of_o skin_n for_o their_o clothing_n and_o then_o he_o drive_v they_o out_o of_o the_o garden_n of_o eden_n so_o here_o man_n be_v put_v out_o of_o the_o paradise_n of_o god_n for_o eat_v of_o the_o forbid_a fruit_n of_o the_o tree_n of_o knowledge_n and_o cherubim_v place_v at_o the_o east_n end_v of_o the_o garden_n with_o a_o flame_v sword_n which_o turn_v every_o way_n to_o keep_v the_o way_n of_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n as_o may_v be_v read_v in_o the_o three_o chapter_n of_o genesis_n at_o large_a thus_o man_n be_v drive_v from_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o lord_n death_n come_v over_o his_o soul_n though_o he_o live_v outward_o yet_o do_v he_o die_v as_o to_o that_o inward_a principle_n of_o divine_a life_n and_o virtue_n which_o once_o he_o enjoy_v and_o so_o the_o threaten_v be_v fulfil_v which_o the_o lord_n have_v say_v in_o the_o day_n thou_o eat_v thereof_o thou_o shall_v sure_o die_v here_o man_n and_o woman_n have_v transgress_v the_o royal_a law_n of_o god_n by_o break_v of_o his_o holy_a commandment_n in_o eat_v of_o the_o tree_n whereof_o he_o command_v they_o say_v you_o shall_v not_o eat_v thereof_o by_o this_o they_o come_v to_o be_v separate_v god_n bless_v man_n and_o woman_n and_o they_o be_v in_o favour_n with_o he_o till_o they_o become_v subject_a to_o vanity_n by_o reason_n of_o that_o false_a hope_n which_o the_o serpent_n suggest_v to_o they_o they_o hope_v to_o have_v be_v a_o god_n to_o know_v good_a and_o evil_a but_o by_o go_v out_o of_o god_n counsel_n they_o become_v corrupt_v by_o the_o evil_a one_o and_o be_v join_v to_o the_o serpentine_a seed_n they_o be_v alienate_v from_o god_n so_o that_o have_v not_o the_o lord_n out_o of_o his_o unmeasurable_a lovingkindness_n and_o compassion_n open_v a_o way_n to_o restore_v they_o they_o must_v have_v perish_v in_o this_o deplorable_a condition_n and_o this_o way_n of_o restoration_n be_v by_o christ_n the_o light_n the_o seed_n and_o saviour_n for_o he_o of_o who_o god_n say_v unto_o the_o serpent_n i_o will_v put_v enmity_n between_o thou_o and_o the_o woman_n and_o between_o thy_o seed_n and_o her_o seed_n it_o shall_v bruise_v thy_o head_n and_o thou_o shall_v bruise_v his_o heel_n he_o it_o be_v who_o be_v to_o be_v the_o saviour_n of_o the_o world_n so_o that_o now_o consider_v the_o son_n and_o daughter_n of_o adam_n as_o they_o be_v find_v in_o the_o fall_n and_o degeneration_n have_v all_o sin_v and_o come_v short_a of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n herein_o i_o say_v have_v his_o universal_a love_n and_o free_a grace_n appear_v to_o wit_n in_o i_o believe_v and_o so_o do_v thousand_o more_o who_o the_o lord_n have_v call_v viz._n that_o the_o father_n of_o light_n and_o god_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o all_o flesh_n 17._o have_v give_v a_o measure_n of_o his_o own_o divine_a light_n and_o spirit_n unto_o all_o the_o child_n of_o man_n 16.22_o to_o manifest_v and_o reveal_v the_o appearance_n of_o his_o son_n in_o they_o we_o who_o be_v that_o same_o saviour_n which_o shed_v his_o blood_n for_o we_o that_o he_o may_v wash_v we_o and_o cleanse_v we_o from_o our_o sin_n and_o be_v offer_v upon_o the_o cross_n not_o only_o as_o a_o propitiatory_a sacrifice_n to_o make_v reconciliation_n for_o the_o transgressor_n but_o that_o by_o he_o once_o offer_v up_o of_o himself_o he_o may_v bring_v in_o everlasting_a righteousness_n and_o perfect_a forever_o they_o that_o be_v sanctify_v and_o a_o measure_n i_o say_v of_o this_o his_o power_n which_o be_v light_n god_n have_v place_v in_o every_o person_n heart_n in_o order_n to_o their_o sanctification_n as_o they_o shall_v be_v subject_a to_o this_o his_o appearance_n in_o they_o true_o indeed_o all_o be_v not_o sanctify_v and_o make_v perfect_a by_o he_o although_o this_o but_o because_o all_o do_v not_o believe_v in_o and_o obey_v this_o his_o appearance_n now_o that_o people_n may_v attain_v to_o what_o knowledge_n may_v be_v have_v of_o god_n by_o the_o inward_a manifestation_n of_o the_o light_n of_o his_o son_n which_o be_v a_o measure_n of_o his_o spirit_n in_o their_o heart_n this_o be_v clear_o prove_v by_o the_o apostle_n rom._n 1._o 19_o that_o which_o may_v be_v know_v of_o god_n say_v he_o be_v manifest_a be_v man_n for_o god_n have_v show_v it_o into_o they_o for_o the_o lord_n of_o the_o whole_a earth_n who_o be_v the_o preserver_n of_o man_n he_o be_v impartial_a in_o his_o love_n to_o all_o mankind_n not_o only_o to_o they_o in_o christendom_n so_o call_v who_o have_v the_o scripture_n among_o they_o but_o his_o love_n be_v extend_v unto_o all_o people_n in_o one_o land_n as_o well_o as_o in_o another_o for_o his_o spirit_n be_v not_o
lord_n by_o the_o inshining_a of_o his_o heavenly_a light_n in_o my_o conscience_n to_o let_v i_o see_v clear_o into_o the_o falsehood_n and_o folly_n of_o this_o corrupt_a courtesy_n i_o do_v not_o only_o conscientious_o but_o voluntary_o decline_v the_o use_v such_o flatter_a speech_n notwithstanding_o i_o know_v it_o be_v to_o expose_v myself_o to_o be_v censure_v by_o some_o as_o a_o person_n build_v which_o principle_n be_v christ_n the_o prince_n of_o peace_n who_o utter_o disallow_v of_o all_o coersive_a compulsion_n force_n constraint_n or_o violence_n to_o be_v use_v in_o matter_n of_o religion_n and_o teach_v such_o who_o learn_v of_o he_o in_o meekness_n to_o instruct_v those_o that_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n and_o then_o patient_o to_o wait_v till_o he_o incline_v their_o heart_n to_o walk_v in_o it_o so_o that_o have_v their_o dependence_n upon_o and_o expectation_n from_o the_o lord_n alone_o they_o dare_v not_o attempt_v the_o propagation_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o his_o dear_a son_n by_o the_o strength_n and_o in_o the_o skill_n and_o time_n of_o man_n without_o be_v guide_v direct_v and_o subject_v by_o he_o in_o who_o be_v all_o their_o help_n find_v this_o as_o to_o the_o first_o mistake_n but_o the_o second_o mistake_n amount_v to_o thus_o much_o viz._n that_o what_o can_v not_o be_v wrought_v upon_o i_o by_o constraint_n and_o force_n be_v otherwise_o attempt_v to_o be_v bring_v to_o pass_v to_o wit_n by_o subtle_a insinuation_n and_o fair_a promise_n by_o which_o it_o have_v be_v say_v this_o people_n use_v to_o tamper_v with_o those_o who_o they_o design_v to_o make_v their_o proselyte_n in_o answer_v whereunto_o i_o shall_v make_v this_o reply_n this_o mistake_n be_v obvious_a for_o promise_n of_o outward_a advantage_n and_o worldly_a good_a avail_v nothing_o that_o can_v stand_v the_o soul_n instead_o therefore_o it_o be_v altogether_o imprudent_a as_o well_o as_o utter_o unlawful_a to_o propose_v any_o thing_n of_o such_o a_o kind_n upon_o this_o occasion_n neither_o indeed_o be_v it_o outward_a advancement_n that_o i_o seek_v after_o although_o this_o be_v a_o reproach_n i_o have_v be_v make_v to_o bear_v the_o lord_n be_v my_o witness_n herein_o who_o subject_v i_o unto_o himself_o and_o make_v i_o willing_a to_o be_v at_o his_o dispose_n and_o to_o have_v my_o lot_n cast_v by_o he_o the_o truth_n be_v corn_n nor_o wine_n nor_o oyll_n do_v not_o esteem_v nor_o yet_o length_n of_o day_n to_o enjoy_v they_o for_o in_o my_o solitude_n the_o whole_a world_n seem_v to_o i_o as_o a_o very_a particular_a i_o do_v declare_v there_o be_v no_o way_n by_o which_o they_o do_v insinuate_v into_o i_o but_o by_o be_v find_v real_a in_o what_o they_o appear_v to_o be_v the_o heart-searching_a god_n have_v then_o put_v my_o soul_n upon_o search_n to_o find_v out_o a_o people_n with_o who_o i_o may_v join_v as_o with_o a_o communion_n of_o saint_n i_o look_v here_o and_o there_o into_o many_o assembly_n but_o alas_o still_o i_o see_v their_o conversation_n so_o much_o contradict_v their_o profession_n that_o i_o can_v hearty_o join_v with_o none_o of_o they_o and_o then_o as_o to_o their_o principle_n some_o indeed_o i_o do_v believe_v when_o i_o hear_v they_o declare_v but_o other_o some_o god_n witness_n in_o my_o conscience_n do_v so_o testify_v against_o that_o they_o i_o can_v not_o receive_v and_o thus_o find_v no_o people_n with_o who_o i_o can_v join_v in_o every_o thing_n i_o conclude_v myself_o to_o be_v single_a in_o the_o matter_n of_o religion_n which_o make_v i_o many_o a_o time_n extend_v my_o voice_n to_o the_o lord_n in_o these_o word_n oh_o my_o god_n upon_o who_o i_o have_v be_v cast_v from_o my_o infancy_n up_o how_o long_o shall_v my_o faith_n notwithstanding_o the_o many_o false_a aspersion_n which_o my_o ear_n be_v fill_v with_o concern_v they_o for_o i_o can_v not_o tell_v but_o little_a david_n the_o belove_a of_o the_o lord_n may_v lie_v hide_v among_o the_o stuff_n who_o god_n have_v anoint_v to_o reign_v in_o self-seeking_a soul_n stead_n wherefore_o i_o then_o be_v willing_a to_o look_v among_o â—is_n people_n to_o wit_n
