mend_n till_o we_o be_v penitent_a and_o if_o grace_v be_v in_o we_o then_o shall_v we_o be_v forgive_v but_o if_o thou_o will_v not_o watch_v i_o will_v come_v upon_o thou_o as_o a_o thief_n and_o thou_o shall_v not_o know_v what_o hour_n i_o will_v come_v upon_o thou_o in_o these_o word_n the_o lord_n jesus_n do_v annex_v a_o threaten_a or_o comination_n to_o the_o former_a exhortation_n unto_o watchfulness_n so_o that_o you_o hear_v he_o urge_v to_o be_v watchful_a or_o else_o he_o will_v come_v upon_o they_o sudden_o and_o that_o to_o their_o cost_n this_o be_v a_o very_a necessary_a duty_n even_o to_o be_v watchful_a over_o our_o way_n and_o to_o be_v careful_a that_o we_o be_v not_o overcome_v either_o by_o satan_n temptation_n or_o the_o world_n bait_n thereby_o to_o be_v draw_v either_o by_o action_n or_o speech_n to_o offend_v the_o majesty_n of_o god_n and_o this_o watch_n must_v be_v set_v and_o keep_v even_o from_o morning_n until_o night_n as_o well_o when_o we_o be_v in_o company_n as_o when_o we_o be_v alone_o even_o all_o the_o day_n long_o and_o then_o at_o night_n we_o shall_v call_v to_o ourselves_o to_o know_v how_o we_o have_v spend_v the_o day_n and_o what_o have_v be_v do_v amiss_o therein_o by_o we_o and_o thereupon_o we_o ought_v to_o pinch_v our_o heart_n with_o grief_n for_o those_o sin_n our_o conscience_n do_v inform_v we_o of_o and_o to_o confess_v to_o the_o lord_n and_o seek_v reconciliation_n in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o so_o to_o lie_v down_o to_o our_o rest_n in_o peace_n the_o lord_n jesus_n say_v three_o time_n in_o one_o chapter_n watch._n and_o unto_o peter_n james_n 41._o and_o john_n watch_n and_o pray_v least_o you_o fall_v into_o temptation_n and_o the_o apostle_n peter_n bid_v we_o be_v sober_a and_o watchful_a in_o prayer_n 7._o many_o do_v know_v what_o it_o be_v to_o pray_v but_o few_o how_o to_o watch_n let_v we_o be_v careful_a over_o our_o particular_a action_n and_o not_o only_o in_o the_o gross_a but_o to_o have_v a_o eye_n also_o to_o our_o lesser_a slip_n and_o infirmity_n and_o although_o some_o will_v say_v this_o be_v to_o imprison_v man_n and_o to_o bind_v their_o hand_n as_o it_o be_v behind_o they_o no_o it_o be_v not_o so_o irksome_a if_o we_o be_v once_o acquaint_v therewith_o but_o it_o will_v be_v a_o excellent_a mean_n to_o keep_v and_o restrain_v we_o from_o commit_v of_o much_o sin_n and_o so_o from_o fall_v into_o much_o sorrow_n and_o grief_n this_o be_v a_o piece_n of_o good_a counsel_n which_o i_o will_v further_o commend_v unto_o you_o if_o time_n will_v have_v serve_v let_v we_o then_o know_v this_o that_o if_o we_o keep_v god_n watch_v over_o our_o heart_n we_o shall_v find_v much_o comfort_n by_o it_o i_o will_v come_v upon_o thou_o as_o a_o thief_n etc._n etc._n this_o be_v a_o heavy_a threaten_n to_o say_v i_o will_v come_v upon_o thou_o sudden_o as_o a_o thief_n and_o unexpected_a upon_o such_o as_o be_v secure_a and_o careless_a to_o take_v vengeance_n upon_o they_o this_o be_v to_o rouse_v they_o up_o the_o more_o we_o may_v consider_v that_o the_o lord_n have_v many_o voice_n for_o sometime_o he_o speak_v to_o we_o by_o his_o word_n at_o other_o time_n by_o his_o judgement_n in_o this_o land_n many_o be_v quite_o dead_a and_o many_o be_v drowsy_a he_o have_v speak_v unto_o we_o many_o way_n and_o he_o have_v as_o many_o or_o more_o way_n to_o come_v upon_o we_o with_o one_o judgement_n or_o other_o and_o all_o just_o for_o our_o sin_n therefore_o let_v we_o in_o time_n repent_v and_o be_v watchful_a lest_o the_o lord_n come_v short_o as_o a_o thief_n upon_o we_o and_o take_v away_o our_o peace_n yea_o take_v away_o likewise_o this_o candelsticke_a that_o be_v the_o ministry_n &_o preach_v of_o the_o gospel_n punishment_n and_o of_o those_o we_o have_v make_v little_o use_v hitherto_o so_o that_o hereafter_o we_o may_v just_o fear_v he_o will_v come_v upon_o we_o as_o a_o thief_n that_o be_v sudden_o and_o we_o know_v a_o thief_n never_o come_v but_o to_o do_v hurt_v and_o as_o this_o may_v befall_v our_o kingdom_n and_o state_n in_o general_a so_o to_o ourselves_o it_o be_v to_o be_v take_v in_o particular_a god_n may_v come_v upon_o we_o sudden_o and_o take_v we_o in_o our_o sin_n and_o in_o our_o security_n the_o drowsy_a christian_a god_n will_v awake_v he_o by_o his_o correction_n and_o cast_v sorrow_n and_o shame_n upon_o he_o let_v every_o one_o then_o be_v watchful_a lest_o he_o be_v take_v unaware_o and_o sweep_v away_o with_o the_o common_a judgement_n which_o the_o lord_n may_v lord_n commend_v these_o few_o godly_a one_o in_o sardis_n namely_o for_o that_o they_o have_v not_o defile_v their_o garment_n which_o indeed_o be_v a_o borrow_a speech_n for_o here_o be_v mean_v that_o either_o they_o have_v not_o spot_v their_o soul_n with_o contagious_a sin_n or_o else_o stain_v and_o blot_v their_o profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n by_o a_o ungodly_a conversation_n and_o of_o this_o thing_n also_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v very_o wary_a and_o careful_a to_o bemer_a or_o pollute_v of_o our_o garment_n we_o know_v we_o be_v to_o blame_v young_a child_n if_o they_o defile_v their_o new_a clothes_n let_v not_o we_o then_o which_o profess_v the_o gospel_n and_o thereby_o to_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n let_v we_o not_o i_o say_v stain_n and_o blot_v our_o holy_a profession_n by_o a_o wicked_a conversation_n but_o alack_o alack_o there_o be_v many_o who_o though_o they_o have_v some_o goodness_n in_o they_o and_o have_v receive_v some_o grace_n from_o god_n yet_o now_o and_o then_o defile_v their_o garment_n few_o walk_n as_o zacharie_n do_v just_o without_o reproof_n many_o hereby_o give_v occasion_n to_o the_o profane_a to_o speak_v evil_a of_o the_o profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o let_v we_o consider_v this_o god_n have_v give_v we_o new_a garment_n which_o we_o shall_v not_o defile_v if_o a_o man_n have_v the_o king_n livery_n he_o will_v keep_v it_o well_o and_o clean_o if_o it_o be_v but_o for_o the_o king_n sake_n that_o give_v it_o unto_o he_o it_o can_v be_v deny_v but_o that_o a_o true_a christian_n his_o garment_n may_v as_o it_o be_v catch_v lint_n that_o be_v be_v soil_v with_o some_o infirmity_n but_o let_v we_o take_v heed_n that_o our_o garment_n be_v not_o defile_v that_o be_v our_o profession_n stain_v with_o gross_a sin_n as_o pride_n worldliness_n impudency_n and_o such_o like_a it_o be_v a_o comely_a thing_n as_o can_v be_v see_v on_o god_n earth_n to_o see_v a_o christian_a walk_n answerable_o to_o his_o call_n i_o grant_v that_o many_o have_v slanderous_a report_n raise_v against_o they_o but_o yet_o let_v we_o be_v careful_a to_o give_v no_o just_a offence_n or_o occasion_n to_o the_o wicked_a to_o reproach_v our_o profession_n and_o to_o say_v lo_o such_o a_o one_o for_o all_o his_o profession_n he_o be_v as_o much_o give_v to_o the_o world_n as_o other_o or_o bring_v up_o his_o child_n as_o proud_o as_o other_o and_o they_o shall_v walk_v with_o he_o in_o white_a for_o they_o be_v worthy_a here_o now_o he_o come_v to_o make_v a_o excellent_a promise_n to_o sincere_a and_o good_a christian_n who_o before_o he_o have_v commend_v which_o be_v this_o that_o they_o shall_v walk_v with_o he_o that_o be_v live_v with_o christ_n jesus_n in_o joy_n and_o happiness_n hereafter_o which_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v by_o this_o borrow_a speech_n of_o walk_v with_o he_o in_o white_a a_o fit_a promise_n to_o those_o which_o in_o their_o life_n time_n have_v care_n to_o keep_v their_o garment_n from_o defile_v such_o as_o walk_v after_o christ_n in_o holiness_n shall_v walk_v with_o he_o in_o glory_n and_o happiness_n this_o be_v a_o excellent_a promise_n to_o they_o which_o hold_v out_o to_o the_o end_n and_o a_o argument_n to_o encourage_v we_o unto_o this_o cheerful_a keep_v our_o garment_n clean_o in_o this_o life_n though_o it_o be_v somewhat_o painful_a and_o troublesome_a who_o will_v not_o be_v content_a to_o endure_v some_o cross_n &_o take_v some_o pain_n here_o to_o live_v godly_a see_v such_o may_v be_v assure_v they_o shall_v one_o day_n reign_v with_o christ_n in_o glory_n let_v not_o all_o the_o profit_n of_o the_o world_n or_o flesh_n or_o devil_n make_v we_o loose_v our_o white_a garment_n in_o heaven_n that_o be_v eternal_a glory_n holiness_n &_o happiness_n with_o jesus_n christ_n there_o we_o shall_v be_v pay_v for_o all_o our_o pain_n as_o for_o those_o which_o be_v ungodly_a they_o shall_v not_o walk_v in_o white_a but_o in_o black_a yea_o they_o shall_v go_v to_o the_o blackness_n of_o darkness_n for_o that_o they_o live_v here_o to_o commit_v the_o work_n of_o darkness_n they_o shall_v partake_v of_o the_o torment_n in_o the_o lake_n of_o utter_a darkness_n where_o shall_v be_v weep_v for_o ever_o where_o as_o they_o on_o the_o other_o side_n be_v bless_v that_o have_v clean_a garment_n do_v make_v conscience_n to_o keep_v they_o clean_o still_o such_o shall_v be_v sure_a that_o their_o labour_n shall_v not_o be_v in_o vain_a in_o the_o lord_n but_o let_v not_o lazy_a christian_n think_v to_o have_v the_o like_a portion_n of_o eternal_a joy_n and_o happiness_n as_o the_o other_o sort_n that_o be_v zealous_a christiansas_n before_o say_v and_o as_o for_o such_o as_o be_v whole_o give_v to_o walk_v after_o their_o lust_n they_o shall_v not_o walk_v with_o christ_n in_o white_a but_o with_o the_o devil_n in_o darkness_n and_o torment_n for_o they_o be_v worthy_a this_o worthiness_n be_v in_o regard_n that_o they_o be_v clothe_v with_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n jesus_n but_o as_o for_o the_o papist_n here_o be_v nothing_o that_o will_v make_v for_o their_o merit_v by_o work_n for_o no_o work_n can_v merit_v unless_o first_o they_o be_v our_o own_o second_o they_o must_v be_v perfect_a in_o themselves_o indeed_o the_o wicked_a they_o shall_v have_v torment_n give_v they_o so_o they_o be_v worthy_a because_o their_o work_n be_v perfect_o wicked_a as_o for_o the_o godly_a their_o worthiness_n be_v only_o in_o regard_n of_o christ_n his_o righteousness_n there_o be_v many_o poor_a afflict_a christian_n which_o think_v they_o be_v not_o worthy_a to_o walk_v upon_o the_o ground_n yet_o indeed_o they_o be_v worthy_a of_o great_a thing_n because_o they_o be_v join_v unto_o christ_n and_o accept_v in_o and_o for_o he_o as_o for_o the_o former_a five_o sort_n of_o dead_a one_o they_o be_v worthy_a of_o all_o pain_n and_o plague_n yet_o there_o be_v a_o way_n for_o they_o also_o to_o be_v free_v from_o that_o their_o estate_n and_o to_o become_v partaker_n of_o mercy_n for_o if_o either_o thou_o be_v ignorant_a or_o a_o liver_n still_o in_o some_o gross_a sin_n or_o a_o worldling_n or_o but_o a_o mere_a civil_a person_n or_o a_o hypocrite_n can_v yet_o bewail_v thy_o sin_n loathe_v they_o and_o crave_v pardon_n for_o they_o in_o christ_n &_o by_o faith_n apprehend_v his_o righteousness_n than_o thou_o may_v be_v save_v but_o if_o the_o civil_a man_n or_o any_o other_o stand_v upon_o his_o own_o righteousness_n then_o will_v thou_o be_v
