take_v quite_o a_o way_n he_o world_n will_v be_v as_o dark_a as_o hell_n but_o i_o intend_v not_o to_o insist_v upon_o the_o proof_n of_o this_o i_o shall_v grant_v that_o a_o sinner_n may_v have_v all_o the_o choice_n outward_a help_n that_o can_v be_v enjoy_v continue_v to_o he_o and_o yet_o this_o day_n may_v be_v over_o and_o that_o will_v appear_v first_o because_o god_n may_v withdraw_v the_o conviction_n of_o his_o spirit_n from_o he_o notwithstanding_o he_o enjoy_v the_o word_n the_o lord_n may_v say_v as_o gen_n 6.3_o my_o spirit_n shall_v strive_v no_o more_o with_o this_o man_n and_o alas_o when_o god_n have_v withdraw_v his_o spirit_n from_o the_o world_n to_o what_o purpose_n be_v it_o second_o no_o only_o so_o but_o the_o lord_n do_v hold_v they_o from_o see_v and_o their_o return_n by_o many_o moral_a persuasion_n and_o stir_n of_o conscience_n and_o they_o will_v not_o receive_v the_o truth_n in_o the_o love_n of_o it_o he_o than_o do_v not_o only_o withdraw_v this_o day_n and_o do_v nothing_o the_o commission_n be_v out_o of_o date_n thus_o say_v the_o lord_n i_o give_v commission_n to_o my_o messenger_n to_o conscience_n and_o to_o the_o word_n to_o plead_v and_o strive_v with_o you_o about_o a_o agreement_n and_o you_o will_v not_o now_o the_o time_n be_v over_o conscience_n and_o the_o word_n have_v no_o commission_n to_o treat_v with_o thou_o have_v a_o will_n to_o believe_v and_o repent_v thou_o shall_v not_o miscarry_v for_o want_v of_o power_n follow_v thy_o will_n and_o thou_o may_v expect_v power_n confident_o from_o the_o lord_n but_o if_o thou_o have_v no_o will_n towards_o these_o thing_n and_o be_v resolve_v not_o to_o make_v use_n of_o what_o thou_o have_v it_o be_v no_o matter_n whether_o thou_o have_v more_o or_o less_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o thou_o can_v not_o believe_v but_o it_o be_v not_o the_o reason_n why_o thou_o will_v not_o believe_v if_o ever_o thou_o will_v have_v plead_v insufficiency_n thou_o shall_v have_v do_v it_o whilst_o there_o be_v time_n for_o it_o when_o it_o may_v have_v be_v remove_v the_o business_n then_o to_o be_v prove_v will_v be_v that_o thou_o will_v not_o believe_v and_o for_o this_o a_o judiciary_n can_v when_o man_n have_v shut_v his_o eye_n and_o therefore_o can_v not_o see_v the_o thing_n of_o his_o peace_n the_o lord_n seal_v they_o up_o and_o say_v from_o henceforth_o thou_o shall_v not_o see_v any_o thing_n for_o thy_o good_a this_o be_v a_o dreadful_a can_v and_o when_o man_n come_v to_o this_o they_o be_v almost_o in_o hell_n but_o i_o be_o to_o speak_v of_o the_o former_a of_o these_o which_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o fearful_a because_o it_o lead_v to_o this_o the_o can_v which_o arise_v from_o a_o man_n own_o will_n the_o will_n and_o affection_n blind_v the_o understanding_n and_o therefore_o he_o can_v see_v the_o corruption_n of_o mandoth_a most_o of_o all_o appear_v in_o his_o will_n for_o this_o be_v the_o very_a seat_n of_o it_o from_o see_v not_o the_o excellency_n that_o be_v in_o they_o thus_o the_o will_n blind_v the_o understanding_n and_o that_o lead_v the_o will_v aside_o and_o so_o the_o blind_a lead_v the_o blind_a till_o both_o fall_n into_o the_o dâ—tch_n thus_o we_o see_v daily_o by_o sad_a experience_n how_o man_n passion_n or_o interest_n do_v blind_a they_o that_o they_o do_v not_o see_v thing_n as_o they_o be_v man_n love_v or_o hate_v thing_n and_o then_o they_o judge_v they_o to_o be_v good_a or_o evil_n according_a to_o their_o affection_n the_o natural_a man_n hate_v the_o way_n of_o godliness_n and_o then_o fancy_v they_o to_o be_v hard_a and_o unpleasant_a he_o judge_v they_o foolishness_n because_o they_o cross_v his_o lust_n which_o have_v get_v his_o affection_n and_o therefore_o he_o can_v receive_v they_o again_o he_o love_v his_o lust_n and_o therefore_o he_o fancy_n that_o they_o be_v comely_a and_o pleasant_a he_o be_v not_o willing_a to_o see_v the_o deformity_n of_o sin_n like_o some_o fond_a mother_n who_o do_v ate_n so_o much_o upon_o her_o child_n that_o she_o will_v hear_v no_o evil_a of_o it_o she_o be_v so_o blind_v by_o affection_n that_o she_o can_v see_v fault_n thus_o it_o be_v with_o balam_n who_o although_o he_o have_v assurance_n that_o israel_n shall_v be_v blessed_v and_o not_o curse_v will_v fain_o persuade_v himself_o through_o the_o extreme_a love_n of_o the_o wage_n of_o iniquity_n that_o he_o may_v curse_v israel_n from_o such_o or_o such_o a_o place_n so_o also_o be_v it_o with_o man_n although_o the_o word_n of_o god_n fly_v in_o their_o face_n for_o sin_n and_o tell_v they_o that_o if_o they_o let_v it_o not_o go_v their_o soul_n shall_v go_v for_o it_o yet_o the_o love_n of_o sin_n and_o their_o extreme_a unwillingness_n to_o part_v with_o it_o put_v they_o upon_o study_v some_o excuse_n or_o other_o for_o it_o and_o they_o will_v
a_o trick_n to_o steal_v the_o complaint_n of_o god_n people_n and_o they_o take_v they_o into_o their_o mouth_n very_o improper_o for_o although_o the_o people_n of_o god_n who_o have_v will_n to_o do_v more_o than_o they_o can_v may_v complain_v proper_o of_o their_o not_o yet_o this_o belong_v not_o to_o thou_o for_o thou_o can_v do_v more_o than_o thou_o will_v complaint_n of_o inability_n do_v sit_v the_o mouth_n of_o none_o but_o the_o people_n of_o god_n because_o it_o be_v not_o the_o want_n of_o will_n but_o of_o power_n which_o stop_v they_o therefore_o they_o can_v say_v lord_n we_o will_v be_v more_o spiritual_a and_o more_o holy_a we_o will_v do_v more_o than_o we_o do_v but_o we_o can_v god_n have_v discover_v unto_o they_o the_o corruption_n of_o their_o will_v in_o their_o former_a estate_n and_o have_v humble_v they_o for_o it_o and_o he_o have_v show_v they_o how_o far_o they_o do_v fall_v short_a of_o their_o ability_n former_o and_o lay_v they_o in_o the_o dust_n for_o it_o and_o now_o the_o stream_n of_o their_o will_n be_v turn_v and_o they_o run_v out_o infinite_o after_o god_n but_o for_o thy_o part_n thou_o be_v never_o humble_v for_o the_o corruption_n of_o thy_o will_n thou_o be_v not_o therefore_o fit_a to_o complain_v of_o a_o can_v how_o can_v thou_o without_o shame_n complain_v for_o want_v of_o power_n when_o thou_o have_v not_o go_v to_o the_o end_n of_o what_o thou_o have_v go_v and_o learn_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v humble_v for_o want_v of_o a_o will_v for_o god_n and_o when_o thou_o have_v mourn_v for_o want_n of_o this_o than_o thou_o may_v next_o be_v pity_v when_o thou_o complain_v for_o want_n of_o power_n but_o until_o thou_o have_v use_v all_o mean_n in_o thy_o power_n and_o reach_v thou_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o complain_v of_o a_o can_v but_o when_o thou_o have_v do_v this_o than_o thou_o may_v take_v up_o this_o complaint_n lord_n thou_o have_v command_v i_o to_o do_v thus_o and_o thus_o but_o i_o can_v behold_v i_o have_v say_v the_o mean_n it_o stick_v not_o at_o my_o will_n for_o i_o have_v give_v all_o diligence_n but_o it_o stick_v for_o want_n of_o power_n lord_n i_o will_v if_o i_o thou_o cease_v from_o endeavour_n and_o plead_v he_o can_v before_o thou_o have_v use_v this_o thy_o plea_n be_v a_o mistake_n and_o there_o be_v a_o delusion_n in_o it_o it_o fit_v not_o thy_o mouth_n go_v thy_o way_n home_o and_o study_v thy_o will_v not_o and_o mourn_v over_o that_o but_o leave_v this_o complaint_n to_o those_o to_o who_o of_o right_n it_o do_v belong_v use_v 4._o if_o there_o be_v such_o a_o day_n then_o labour_v to_o improve_v thy_o ability_n without_o trust_v to_o they_o strive_v as_o know_v that_o without_o strive_v thou_o shall_v not_o be_v save_v and_o yet_o look_v unto_o christ_n as_o have_v do_v nothing_o thyself_o cast_v away_o all_o selfe-confidence_n run_v for_o he_o that_o run_v not_o shall_v not_o obtain_v yet_o look_v for_o all_o from_o free_a man_n they_o run_v into_o the_o extreme_a on_o either_o hand_n some_o have_v such_o high_a opinion_n of_o the_o ability_n of_o the_o creature_n and_o take_v the_o work_n of_o salvation_n to_o be_v so_o much_o in_o the_o hand_n of_o man_n that_o they_o know_v not_o how_o to_o deny_v themselves_o in_o their_o own_o act_n and_o wisdom_n in_o spiritual_a thing_n they_o give_v god_n the_o honour_n of_o put_v they_o into_o a_o possibility_n of_o be_v save_v but_o they_o take_v the_o honour_n of_o perfect_v their_o salvation_n to_o themselves_o other_o lay_v the_o work_n so_o upon_o god_n that_o they_o excuse_v themselves_o from_o do_v any_o thing_n alas_o say_v they_o we_o be_v weak_a and_o what_o can_v we_o do_v if_o he_o will_v convert_v we_o we_o shall_v be_v convert_v these_o will_v not_o know_v the_o doctrine_n of_o duty_n there_o be_v few_o that_o will_v bring_v the_o doctrine_n of_o self-denial_n and_o duty_n together_o that_o will_v work_v and_o yet_o deny_v their_o work_n expect_v god_n in_o a_o way_n of_o strive_v and_o yet_o not_o rest_v upon_o endeavour_n but_o to_o these_o i_o say_v although_o you_o can_v do_v enough_o to_o save_v you_o yet_o you_o may_v omit_v enough_o to_o damn_v you_o therefore_o improve_v your_o ability_n lest_o you_o perish_v for_o neglect_v they_o to_o you_o who_o rely_v upon_o your_o own_o ability_n i_o say_v the_o deny_v of_o your_o own_o ability_n will_v do_v you_o no_o harm_n for_o esteem_v of_o they_o as_o little_a do_v not_o make_v they_o less_o but_o go_v out_o of_o yourselves_o to_o god_n may_v make_v they_o more_o i_o say_v in_o a_o word_n to_o all_o you_o have_v a_o day_n if_o in_o this_o day_n thou_o do_v not_o lay_v hold_n of_o eternal_a life_n thou_o shall_v be_v damn_v because_o thou_o will_v not_o but_o if_o in_o this_o time_n thou_o do_v embrace_v the_o term_n of_o christ_n and_o lie_v hold_v on_o peace_n it_o be_v not_o because_o thou_o will_v but_o because_o he_o will_v he_o do_v stir_v up_o thy_o will_n and_o ability_n and_o do_v give_v in_o fresh_a supply_n or_o else_o thou_o have_v perish_v let_v therefore_o what_o you_o have_v hear_v of_o the_o ability_n of_o the_o natural_a man_n provoke_v you_o to_o go_v as_o far_o as_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o such_o a_o one_o to_o go_v and_o let_v that_o which_o you_o have_v hear_v of_o his_o inability_n keep_v you_o humble_a and_o teach_v you_o to_o cry_v after_o christ_n in_o the_o language_n of_o that_o poor_a man_n lord_n help_v my_o unbelief_n join_v self-denial_n to_o all_o endeavour_n be_v active_a and_o humble_a conscientious_a to_o use_v all_o that_o thou_o have_v for_o god_n and_o thy_o soul_n and_o yet_o look_v upon_o all_o as_o be_v nothing_o and_o then_o thou_o have_v learn_v this_o truth_n aright_o use_v 5._o if_o so_o then_o let_v all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n admire_v his_o distinguish_a grace_n who_o have_v not_o only_o extend_v his_o common_a but_o his_o special_a mercy_n to_o they_o he_o have_v give_v other_o enough_o to_o leave_v they_o inexcusable_a and_o enough_o to_o aggravate_v their_o condemnation_n but_o he_o have_v give_v you_o enough_o to_o convert_v you_o it_o be_v mercy_n that_o god_n give_v other_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o offer_v of_o it_o but_o what_o mercy_n be_v it_o that_o he_o have_v incline_v your_o heart_n to_o embrace_v the_o same_o be_v offer_v he_o give_v they_o a_o day_n to_o seek_v but_o he_o set_v this_o day_n apart_o to_o seek_v thou_o he_o set_v life_n and_o death_n before_o they_o and_o leave_v it_o to_o they_o to_o choose_v but_o the_o lord_n himself_o choose_v for_o thou_o the_o better_a part_n he_o wrought_v upon_o their_o understanding_n or_o conscience_n but_o he_o move_v upon_o thy_o wil._n he_o give_v thou_o a_o will_n to_o thy_o power_n yea_o and_o beyond_o it_o who_o have_v ability_n before_o beyond_o thy_o wil._n here_o lie_v the_o great_a difference_v work_n of_o grace_n which_o thou_o may_v never_o forget_v he_o wrought_v in_o thou_o to_o will_n and_o to_o do_v of_o his_o good_a pleasure_n so_o that_o although_o they_o who_o obey_v not_o the_o gospel_n be_v condemn_v through_o their_o own_o will_n yet_o thou_o be_v save_v through_o the_o good_a pleasure_n and_o will_n of_o

kind_n of_o working_n as_o these_o be_v find_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o people_n of_o the_o lord_n when_o they_o have_v their_o conscience_n open_v afresh_o after_o such_o slumber_n wherein_o they_o have_v lose_v the_o sight_n and_o sense_n of_o their_o own_o condition_n ordinary_o such_o soul_n smart_n for_o the_o neglect_n of_o former_a conviction_n and_o be_v humble_v for_o not_o after_o man_n think_v it_o be_v enough_o if_o they_o have_v be_v a_o little_a warm_v or_o enlarge_v in_o the_o duty_n but_o look_v not_o after_o their_o heart_n nor_o prayer_n after_o whether_o god_n answer_v they_o or_o not_o and_o this_o be_v a_o great_a reason_n of_o the_o unconstancy_n in_o the_o frame_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n if_o we_o can_v but_o follow_v our_o prayer_n as_o worldly_a man_n do_v their_o design_n we_o shall_v seldom_o let_v the_o lord_n go_v out_o of_o our_o eye_n if_o we_o can_v but_o consider_v our_o petition_n and_o our_o present_a temper_n and_o to_o mind_v we_o and_o to_o affect_v we_o with_o the_o majesty_n of_o the_o lord_n twelve_o compare_v those_o day_n and_o hour_n which_o thou_o spend_v with_o god_n in_o thy_o eye_n and_o thought_n
