preach_v may_v come_v to_o all_o man_n even_o so_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v not_o wont_a to_o be_v carry_v to_o every_o corner_n of_o every_o region_n but_o it_o be_v reveal_v &_o publish_v in_o the_o special_a and_o principal_a kingdom_n that_o by_o they_o the_o fame_n thereof_o may_v be_v spread_v abroad_o throughout_o the_o whole_a world_n that_o no_o man_n may_v have_v excuse_n so_o
now_o we_o must_v say_v somewhat_o of_o the_o indignation_n and_o displeasure_n which_o ionas_n take_v at_o the_o repentance_n and_o conservation_n of_o the_o ninivet_n for_o after_o that_o ionas_n see_v that_o the_o ninivet_n at_o his_o preach_n be_v convert_v unto_o the_o lord_n and_o have_v obtain_v not_o only_a remission_n of_o their_o sin_n but_o also_o the_o safeguard_n of_o the_o city_n he_o shall_v great_o have_v rejoice_v 18._o even_o as_o the_o angel_n rejoice_v more_o over_o one_o sinner_n that_o repent_v than_o over_o ninety_o and_o nine_o that_o be_v righteous_a but_o he_o be_v so_o far_o from_o rejoice_v that_o he_o rather_o take_v indignation_n and_o displeasure_n with_o himself_o and_o inveigh_v with_o his_o complaint_n against_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n for_o spare_v therefore_o think_v that_o it_o will_v be_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n name_n to_o have_v the_o city_n of_o ninive_n destroy_v the_o which_o when_o it_o come_v not_o to_o pass_v he_o think_v that_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n name_n be_v in_o hazard_n and_o peril_n furthermore_o when_o he_o see_v the_o ninivet_n which_o be_v ethnic_n and_o uncircumcised_a to_o obtain_v remission_n of_o sin_n and_o to_o be_v receive_v into_o god_n favour_n he_o think_v that_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n and_o circumcision_n be_v in_o great_a peril_n because_o the_o other_o ethnic_n when_o they_o shall_v hear_v promise_n that_o christ_n shall_v spring_v out_o of_o their_o nation_n yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o promise_n be_v not_o so_o make_v unto_o they_o that_o they_o alone_o shall_v obtain_v salvation_n by_o christ_n but_o as_o saint_n peter_n say_v among_o all_o people_n whoso_o call_v upon_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v acceptable_a unto_o he_o and_o again_o every_o one_o which_o call_v sorry_a for_o the_o destruction_n of_o so_o great_a a_o city_n as_o ninive_n be_v of_o the_o which_o he_o be_v the_o creator_n and_o governor_n and_o how_o much_o more_o shall_v he_o spare_v so_o great_a a_o multitude_n let_v we_o learn_v therefore_o by_o this_o place_n that_o god_n do_v never_o cast_v we_o into_o any_o sorrow_n or_o affliction_n but_o that_o he_o mean_v to_o teach_v we_o desperation_n show_v forth_o no_o part_n of_o wicked_a incredulity_n or_o distrust_n no_o more_o than_o paul_n do_v when_o he_o say_v we_o be_v grieve_v out_o of_o measure_n pass_v strength_n 1._o their_o ceremony_n and_o service_n in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n wherefore_o although_o they_o howl_v chant_v pipe_n and_o babble_n much_o in_o the_o latin_a tongue_n before_o the_o common_a people_n in_o their_o church_n yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o do_v but_o whisper_v and_o talk_v to_o they_o that_o have_v no_o ear_n they_o do_v but_o speak_v in_o the_o air_n 14._o as_o witness_v saint_n fame_n but_o proceed_v in_o his_o call_n with_o obedience_n show_v that_o to_o the_o ninivet_n which_o he_o be_v command_v of_o god_n to_o declare_v by_o the_o which_o example_n we_o be_v admonish_v that_o in_o follow_v our_o vocation_n and_o calling_n we_o shall_v rather_o have_v a_o consideration_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n towards_o disobedience_n than_o of_o peril_n and_o danger_n which_o water_n but_o he_o command_v not_o a_o fast_o as_o though_o thereby_o sin_n shall_v be_v forgive_v and_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n pacify_v as_o the_o hypocrite_n imagine_v of_o fast_v but_o he_o command_v it_o first_o to_o the_o end_n the_o flesh_n may_v be_v bridle_v by_o sobriety_n then_o to_o the_o end_n common_a banquet_n may_v be_v omit_v whereby_o they_o may_v more_o convenient_o come_v together_o to_o public_a preach_n and_o prayer_n whereupon_o also_o it_o be_v add_v in_o the_o commandment_n let_v every_o man_n cry_v mighty_o unto_o god_n these_o be_v the_o public_a prayer_n or_o suffrage_n which_o in_o solemn_a wise_n be_v observe_v and_o use_v of_o our_o elder_n not_o one_o hour_n but_o the_o whole_a day_n it_o be_v necessary_a therefore_o that_o man_n shall_v abstain_v from_o meat_n all_o the_o day_n long_o to_o the_o end_n they_o may_v be_v ready_a in_o the_o church_n 20._o so_o josaphat_n proclaim_v a_o fast_a not_o to_o satisfy_v thereby_o for_o sin_n but_o for_o public_a prayer_n sake_n which_o be_v appoint_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n in_o extreme_a peril_n so_o in_o many_o other_o place_n of_o the_o scripture_n fast_v and_o prayer_n be_v join_v together_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v know_v that_o fast_n be_v appoint_v as_o a_o preparative_n unto_o prayer_n 3_o but_o what_o mean_v the_o commandment_n give_v for_o ox_n and_o sheep_n beast_n and_o other_o beast_n to_o fast_o have_v god_n respect_n unto_o the_o fast_n of_o beast_n there_o be_v nothing_o less_o mean_v true_o but_o they_o be_v command_v to_o fast_o in_o that_o sense_n and_o meaning_n that_o beast_n be_v command_v in_o the_o law_n to_o have_v rest_n on_o the_o sabbath_n day_n 20._o thou_o shall_v do_v no_o work_n say_v the_o lord_n on_o the_o sabbath_n day_n neither_o thou_o nor_o thy_o cattle_n nor_o the_o strange_a that_o be_v within_o thy_o gate_n for_o rest_n be_v require_v of_o cattle_n on_o the_o sabbath_n day_n that_o by_o that_o occasion_n man_n may_v
