hospital_n be_v interest_v it_o shall_v be_v call_v by_o that_o name_n and_o none_o else_o and_o shall_v be_v erect_v build_v and_o finish_v with_o all_o diligence_n in_o the_o bound_n thereto_o design_v be_v the_o provost_n baily_n minister_n and_o council_n of_o edinburgh_n with_o consent_n of_o the_o say_a dean_n of_o rochester_n contain_v in_o the_o act_n of_o council_n make_v founder_n the_o like_a mention_n shall_v be_v make_v in_o every_o grace_n which_o shall_v be_v say_v after_o meal_n but_o especial_o upon_o the_o first_o monday_n of_o june_n every_o year_n shall_v be_v keep_v a_o solemn_a commemoration_n and_o thanksgiving_n unto_o god_n in_o this_o form_n which_o follow_v in_o the_o morning_n about_o eight_o of_o the_o clock_n of_o that_o day_n the_o lord_n provost_n all_o the_o minister_n magistrate_n and_o ordinary_a council_n of_o the_o city_n of_o edinburgh_n shall_v assemble_v themselves_o in_o the_o committee-chamber_n of_o the_o say_a hospital_n from_o thence_o all_o the_o scholar_n and_o officer_n of_o the_o say_a hospital_n go_v before_o they_o two_o by_o two_o they_o shall_v go_v with_o all_o the_o solemnity_n that_o may_v be_v to_o the_o grayfriar_n church_n of_o the_o say_a city_n where_o they_o shall_v hear_v a_o sermon_n preach_v by_o one_o of_o the_o say_a minister_n every_o one_o yearly_o in_o their_o course_n according_a to_o the_o antiquity_n of_o their_o ministry_n in_o the_o say_a city_n the_o principal_a argument_n of_o the_o sermon_n shall_v be_v to_o these_o purpose_n to_o give_v god_n thanks_o for_o the_o charitable_a maintenance_n which_o the_o poor_a maintain_v in_o the_o hospital_n receive_v by_o the_o bounty_n of_o the_o say_a founder_n of_o who_o shall_v be_v make_v honourable_a mention_n to_o exhort_v all_o man_n of_o ability_n according_a to_o their_o mean_n to_o follow_v his_o example_n to_o urge_v the_o necessity_n of_o good_a work_n according_a to_o man_n power_n for_o the_o testimony_n of_o their_o faith_n and_o to_o clear_v the_o doctrine_n of_o our_o church_n from_o all_o the_o calumny_n of_o our_o adversary_n who_o give_v we_o out_o to_o be_v the_o impugner_n of_o good_a work_n after_o the_o sermon_n end_v all_o abovenamed_a shall_v return_v to_o the_o hospital_n with_o the_o same_o solemnity_n and_o order_n they_o come_v from_o it_o where_o shall_v be_v pay_v to_o the_o minister_n who_o preach_v to_o buy_v he_o book_n by_o the_o thesaurer_n of_o the_o hospital_n for_o the_o time_n be_v out_o of_o the_o thesaury_n or_o rent_n of_o the_o hospital_n the_o sum_n of_o cap._n iii_o de_fw-fr gubernatoribus_fw-la hospitalis_n the_o perpetual_a governor_n of_o the_o say_a hospital_n shall_v be_v the_o lord_n provost_n baily_n minister_n and_o ordinary_a council_n of_o edinburgh_n for_o the_o time_n be_v and_o their_o successor_n for_o who_o prosperity_n and_o happiness_n by_o the_o name_n of_o governor_n the_o reader_n of_o divine_a service_n in_o the_o chapel_n and_o the_o scholar_n in_o all_o grace_n after_o meal_n shall_v pray_v in_o express_a word_n likeas_n the_o say_a hospital_n and_o whole_a estate_n thereof_o shall_v be_v guide_v and_o govern_v by_o the_o provost_n baily_n minister_n and_o council_n for_o the_o time_n and_o according_a to_o the_o plurality_n of_o the_o voice_n of_o the_o said_n provost_n baily_n minister_n and_o ordinary_a council_n of_o the_o say_v burgh_n for_o the_o time_n the_o whole_a estate_n of_o the_o say_a hospital_n both_o for_o the_o rent_n and_o theasury_n and_o all_o thing_n which_o may_v depend_v thereupon_o as_o also_o the_o election_n of_o all_o officer_n scholar_n and_o burser_n thereunto_o any_o way_n belong_v shall_v be_v whole_o order_v govern_v and_o rule_v these_o caution_n be_v provide_v which_o be_v hereafter_o in_o any_o part_n of_o these_o statute_n mention_v but_o no_o member_n of_o the_o say_a council_n of_o edinburgh_n nor_o any_o of_o the_o say_a minister_n shall_v ever_o have_v any_o voice_n or_o interest_n in_o any_o business_n which_o may_v any_o way_n concern_v the_o say_a hospital_n either_o for_o rent_n or_o election_n or_o any_o other_o thing_n until_o such_o time_n as_o he_o or_o they_o shall_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o council_n and_o minister_n of_o edinburgh_n take_v a_o corporal_a oath_n lay_v his_o hand_n upon_o some_o part_n of_o the_o holy_a gospel_n in_o these_o word_n i_o a._n b._n do_v faithful_o swear_v and_o promise_v before_o god_n that_o to_o the_o best_a of_o my_o knowledge_n and_o power_n i_o shall_v carry_v and_o demean_v myself_o in_o all_o matter_n which_o concern_v the_o rent_n the_o election_n of_o the_o officer_n or_o scholar_n or_o any_o thing_n else_o belong_v to_o george_n heriot_n '_o s_o hospital_n and_o if_o i_o know_v any_o go_v about_o at_o any_o time_n to_o defraud_v or_o defeat_v the_o intention_n of_o the_o say_v pious_a founder_n i_o shall_v reveal_v it_o to_o this_o assembly_n or_o their_o successor_n so_o help_v i_o god_n and_o the_o content_n of_o the_o bible_n before_o which_o oath_n personal_o take_v no_o person_n abovementioned_a shall_v intermeddle_v with_o any_o thing_n belong_v to_o the_o say_a hospital_n and_o if_o any_o one_o shall_v give_v his_o voice_n before_o the_o say_a oath_n administer_v and_o take_v all_o conclusion_n or_o election_n resolve_v upon_o at_o that_o meeting_n shall_v be_v utter_o void_a and_o of_o no_o effect_n to_o all_o purpose_n whatsoever_o cap._n iu._n de_fw-fr iis_fw-la quae_fw-la generaliter_fw-la electiones_fw-la &_o hospitalis_n negotia_fw-la spectant_fw-la there_o shall_v be_v no_o election_n of_o scholar_n or_o any_o officer_n any_o way_n belong_v to_o the_o hospital_n nor_o any_o transaction_n which_o concern_v any_o way_n the_o estate_n or_o any_o other_o thing_n belong_v to_o the_o hospital_n be_v make_v or_o do_v but_o in_o the_o committee-chamber_n of_o the_o say_a hospital_n or_o in_o some_o other_o place_n within_o the_o building_n of_o the_o say_a hospital_n whensoever_o there_o shall_v be_v any_o election_n of_o officer_n or_o scholar_n first_o the_o elder_a minister_n of_o the_o town_n then_o present_a shall_v distinct_o read_v unto_o the_o whole_a elector_n the_o ensue_a statute_n concern_v the_o election_n
