keep_v the_o faith_n they_o shall_v take_v no_o hurt_n but_o the_o lord_n will_v turn_v they_o to_o their_o good_a so_o that_o this_o may_v comfort_v and_o revive_v any_o perplex_a and_o oppress_a conscience_n in_o persecution_n and_o temptation_n again_o see_v this_o promise_n be_v only_o conditional_a and_o not_o simple_a but_o as_o it_o free_v we_o from_o the_o hurt_n of_o the_o temptation_n we_o see_v they_o which_o pray_v for_o freedom_n from_o all_o temptation_n affliction_n and_o persecution_n have_v no_o warrant_n out_o of_o god_n word_n if_o they_o put_v not_o in_o that_o caveat_n for_o every_o petition_n must_v have_v a_o promise_n in_o the_o word_n 2._o now_o there_o be_v no_o promise_n that_o a_o man_n shall_v be_v free_a from_o all_o temptation_n but_o only_o from_o the_o hurt_n of_o temptation_n &_o affliction_n then_o we_o must_v when_o we_o pray_v for_o temporal_a deliverance_n pray_v only_o with_o condition_n so_o far_o as_o they_o shall_v not_o hurt_v our_o paul_n for_o his_o affection_n and_o love_n to_o christ_n think_v eternal_a damnation_n but_o a_o year_n a_o short_a time_n so_o these_o in_o this_o church_n think_v this_o long_a and_o bloody_a persecution_n a_o short_a time_n a_o hour_n for_o that_o love_n they_o have_v to_o christ_n and_o his_o gospel_n and_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o for_o this_o affection_n can_v have_v be_v content_a to_o suffer_v it_o long_o the_o end_n why_o christ_n use_v this_o phrase_n be_v to_o comfort_v this_o and_o all_o other_o church_n in_o persecution_n by_o the_o shortness_n of_o their_o continuance_n which_o be_v but_o a_o hour_n a_o short_a time_n now_o though_o they_o last_v twenty_o year_n yet_o if_o we_o have_v any_o affection_n to_o god_n glory_n and_o to_o his_o religion_n it_o will_v be_v but_o a_o hour_n a_o short_a time_n this_o consideration_n of_o the_o shortness_n of_o time_n may_v encourage_v any_o man_n and_o arm_v he_o to_o endure_v any_o persecution_n cross_n or_o affliction_n beside_o this_o which_o i_o have_v say_v note_v that_o in_o these_o word_n there_o be_v a_o prediction_n there_o be_v a_o prediction_n of_o a_o
of_o grace_n to_o acknowledge_v your_o poverty_n and_o to_o be_v touch_v for_o it_o and_o grieve_v even_o from_o the_o bottom_n of_o your_o heart_n &_o to_o feel_v this_o as_o sensible_o as_o the_o beggar_n feel_v his_o misery_n deceive_v not_o yourselves_o god_n word_n must_v stand_v till_o you_o be_v beggar_n the_o gospel_n will_v be_v but_o a_o dream_n and_o a_o fancy_n to_o you_o quest._n but_o how_o can_v christ_n call_v her_o poor_a see_v it_o be_v a_o very_a rich_a people_n ans._n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o they_o be_v very_o rich_a so_o history_n do_v record_v but_o as_o it_o be_v a_o rich_a city_n so_o it_o be_v a_o poor_a church_n for_o all_o the_o wealth_n in_o the_o world_n be_v poverty_n without_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n we_o be_v complete_a in_o christ_n without_o he_o we_o have_v nothing_o all_o thing_n be_v you_o and_o you_o christ_n and_o christ_n god_n all_o temporal_a blessing_n be_v nothing_o out_o of_o christ_n riches_n be_v no_o riches_n honour_v no_o honour_n out_o of_o christ._n in_o christ_n we_o be_v complete_a and_o therefore_o rich_a laodicea_n be_v but_o a_o poor_a and_o beggarly_a people_n and_o so_o be_v all_o without_o christ._n therefore_o if_o god_n have_v give_v you_o riches_n lay_v up_o a_o good_a foundation_n use_v then_o for_o this_o end_n that_o they_o may_v further_o and_o not_o hinder_v your_o salvation_n as_o help_n and_o mean_n thereof_o otherwise_o they_o will_v be_v your_o ruin_n and_o destruction_n so_o much_o for_o the_o first_o part_n of_o man_n poverty_n the_o second_o part_n be_v blindness_n how_o can_v they_o be_v say_v to_o be_v blind_a they_o have_v no_o doubt_n a_o excellent_a teacher_n endue_v with_o great_a knowledge_n and_o ability_n to_o teach_v and_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o the_o people_n be_v well_o instruct_v answ._n it_o can_v be_v deny_v but_o they_o have_v great_a knowledge_n yet_o they_o be_v call_v blind_a first_o because_o they_o know_v not_o their_o own_o estate_n for_o though_o a_o man_n have_v all_o the_o skill_n and_o knowledge_n in_o the_o world_n he_o be_v but_o a_o blind_a man_n without_o this_o knowledge_n second_o because_o they_o know_v not_o god_n in_o christ._n they_o know_v god_n in_o general_n as_o many_o do_v now_o but_o not_o by_o a_o particular_a application_n to_o themselves_o that_o god_n be_v their_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o christ_n
