down_o upon_o aaron_n beard_n and_o upon_o the_o skirt_n of_o his_o garment_n so_o this_o grace_n diffuse_v itself_o into_o the_o affection_n of_o man_n and_o into_o the_o course_n of_o their_o life_n which_o i_o collect_v from_o two_o expression_n use_v in_o that_o profession_n of_o humility_n which_o david_n there_o make_v first_o say_v he_o i_o have_v quiet_v myself_o as_o a_o child_n that_o be_v wean_v of_o his_o mother_n that_o passage_n seem_v to_o relate_v to_o his_o affection_n which_o be_v the_o tumultuate_n rage_a part_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o therefore_o be_v call_v the_o ebbing_n and_o flow_n or_o the_o tide_n of_o the_o will_n and_o therefore_o quiet_v be_v most_o proper_o to_o be_v refer_v to_o they_o his_o meaning_n seem_v to_o be_v that_o whereas_o before_o he_o have_v strong_a and_o impetuous_a desire_n a_o great_a ambition_n to_o some_o thing_n which_o god_n see_v be_v yet_o to_o high_a for_o he_o as_o namely_o to_o come_v to_o the_o throne_n which_o god_n have_v promise_v he_o i_o say_v whereas_o before_o he_o long_v to_o be_v in_o possession_n of_o that_o earthly_a kingdom_n which_o be_v promise_v he_o as_o a_o child_n may_v long_o for_o the_o breast_n yet_o now_o god_n have_v humble_v he_o for_o so_o he_o say_v my_o heart_n be_v not_o haughty_a he_o have_v no_o more_o desire_n to_o it_o till_o the_o time_n that_o god_n have_v appoint_v shall_v be_v fulfil_v than_o a_o child_n have_v to_o that_o breast_n from_o which_o it_o have_v be_v full_o wean_v a_o mean_a and_o modest_a opinion_n and_o judgement_n of_o a_o man_n self_n kill_v ambition_n at_o the_o very_a root_n and_o mortify_v our_o desire_n to_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v too_o high_a for_o we_o as_o be_v sensible_a they_o will_v not_o become_v we_o as_o a_o poor_a labour_a man_n be_v not_o ambitious_a to_o ride_v up_o and_o down_o in_o a_o coach_n continual_o as_o know_v it_o will_v not_o way_n suit_v his_o birth_n and_o breed_v and_o poor_a condition_n he_o than_o be_v a_o humble_a man_n who_o desire_v not_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v too_o great_a for_o he_o as_o too_o great_a a_o esteem_n etc._n etc._n and_o therefore_o desire_v it_o not_o because_o he_o be_v sensible_a he_o do_v not_o deserve_v it_o it_o will_v not_o become_v he_o as_o solomon_n say_v excellent_a speech_n become_v not_o a_o fool_n prov._n 17.7_o and_o honour_n be_v not_o seemly_a for_o a_o fool_n prov._n 26.1_o it_o will_v ill_o become_v he_o as_o a_o crown_n and_o sceptre_n will_v do_v the_o head_n and_o hand_n of_o one_o that_o be_v but_o a_o mean_a subject_n man_n be_v not_o ambitious_a of_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v extreme_o above_o they_o because_o they_o can_v but_o see_v and_o know_v that_o they_o be_v above_o they_o but_o of_o such_o thing_n as_o be_v not_o very_o much_o too_o high_a for_o they_o proud_a man_n be_v ambitious_a because_o their_o pride_n and_o self-love_n cause_v they_o to_o think_v they_o may_v and_o do_v deserve_v they_o now_o a_o humble_a man_n not_o think_v of_o himself_o above_o what_o be_v meet_v know_v what_o he_o deserve_v not_o and_o thereupon_o desire_v no_o more_o than_o what_o he_o do_v real_o deserve_v and_o consequent_o be_v not_o ambitious_a for_o ambition_n be_v the_o desire_n of_o thing_n that_o be_v too_o high_a for_o we_o then_o from_o those_o word_n of_o david_n nor_o my_o eye_n be_v not_o lofty_a neither_o do_v i_o exercise_v myself_o in_o thing_n too_o high_a for_o i_o i_o say_v from_o thence_o may_v be_v collect_v that_o the_o grace_n of_o humility_n as_o it_o be_v pour_v into_o the_o affection_n so_o it_o be_v pour_v out_o upon_o the_o life_n as_o it_o be_v impress_v upon_o the_o whole_a inward_a man_n so_o it_o be_v express_v in_o the_o outward_a a_o humble_a inside_n and_o a_o proud_a outside_n be_v inconsistent_a a_o humble_a heart_n and_o a_o haughty_a look_n a_o heart_n cast_v down_o with_o true_a humility_n and_o eye_n mean_a time_n lift_v up_o with_o pride_n and_o a_o person_n exercise_v himself_o general_o in_o thing_n that_o be_v too_o high_a for_o he_o be_v incompatible_a now_o the_o two_o latter_a viz._n the_o not_o exercise_v himself_o in_o thing_n that_o be_v too_o high_a for_o he_o and_o the_o quiet_v of_o himself_o as_o a_o wean_a child_n do_v proceed_v from_o the_o first_o viz._n that_o his_o heart_n be_v not_o haughty_a that_o be_v that_o he_o have_v no_o high_a conceit_n of_o himself_o and_o of_o his_o own_o desert_n nor_o do_v i_o remember_v any_o one_o expression_n whereby_o humility_n be_v set_v forth_o and_o recommend_v
