what_o soever_o they_o attempt_v with_o contempt_n and_o neglect_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o although_o the_o beginning_n at_o the_o first_o seem_v pleasant_a and_o prosperous_a yet_o their_o end_n shall_v be_v accurse_v because_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a to_o look_v for_o prosperous_a success_n but_o only_o from_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n whereof_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o all_o device_n rash_o and_o unadvised_o take_v in_o hand_n shall_v be_v utter_o destitute_a as_o also_o all_o arrogancy_n which_o be_v likewise_o join_v with_o contempt_n of_o god_n himself_o wherefore_o the_o faithful_a that_o they_o may_v have_v good_a success_n in_o all_o thing_n aught_o to_o procure_v unto_o themselves_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n as_o well_o by_o earnest_a desire_n of_o learning_n as_o by_o obedience_n of_o faith_n in_o the_o end_n of_o the_o verse_n because_o the_o verb_n be_v of_o double_a signification_n as_o i_o have_v say_v either_o the_o same_o sentence_n be_v repeat_v or_o else_o a_o second_o promise_n be_v add_v which_o latter_a sense_n i_o do_v very_o well_o allow_v for_o it_o agree_v very_o well_o that_o after_o happy_a success_n be_v promise_v joshua_n shall_v also_o be_v admonish_v that_o man_n do_v nothing_o right_o in_o good_a order_n or_o with_o true_a knowledge_n but_o so_o far_o forth_o as_o they_o submit_v themselves_o to_o be_v govern_v by_o the_o they_o do_v all_o thing_n with_o great_a wisdom_n when_o they_o be_v lead_v with_o their_o own_o understanding_n 9_o have_v not_o i_o command_v thou_o etc_n etc_n although_o the_o hebrew_n do_v often_o time_n by_o interrogation_n simple_o affirm_v &_o that_o phrase_n be_v very_o common_a among_o they_o yet_o this_o interragation_n have_v a_o special_a force_n to_o confirm_v the_o former_a doctrine_n while_o god_n bring_v forth_o his_o authority_n and_o discharge_v the_o mind_n of_o his_o servant_n both_o from_o doubt_n and_o care_n be_v it_o not_o i_o say_v he_o which_o have_v command_v thou_o even_o i_o also_o will_v be_v present_a with_o thou_o this_o be_v therefore_o speak_v with_o a_o force_n or_o emphasis_n because_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a to_o resist_v his_o commandment_n again_o this_o place_n do_v teach_v we_o that_o nothing_o do_v more_o prevail_v to_o make_v we_o have_v sure_a trust_n then_o when_o we_o be_v bold_a upon_o the_o call_n and_o commandment_n of_o god_n and_o be_v well_o assure_v thereof_o in_o our_o conscience_n we_o do_v follow_v he_o as_o a_o guide_n whithersoever_o he_o do_v call_v us._n 10_o then_o joshua_n command_v the_o officer_n of_o the_o people_n say_v 11_o pass_v through_o the_o host_n and_o command_v the_o people_n say_v prepare_v you_o victual_n for_o after_o three_o day_n you_o shall_v pass_v over_o all_o that_o thou_o have_v command_v we_o we_o will_v do_v and_o whithersoever_o thou_o send_v we_o we_o will_v go_v 17_o as_o we_o obey_v moses_n in_o all_o thing_n so_o will_v we_o obey_v thou_o only_o the_o lord_n thy_o god_n be_v with_o thou_o as_o he_o be_v with_o moses_n 18_o whosoever_o shall_v rebel_v against_o thy_o commandment_n and_o will_v not_o obey_v thy_o word_n in_o all_o that_o thou_o command_v he_o let_v he_o be_v put_v to_o death_n only_o be_v strong_a and_o of_o good_a courage_n 10_o then_o joshua_n command_v etc_n etc_n it_o may_v be_v doubt_v whether_o this_o decree_n be_v publish_v after_o the_o espial_n be_v send_v and_o after_o their_o return_n and_o very_o it_o seem_v to_o i_o not_o only_o likely_a but_o also_o i_o be_o thorough_o persuade_v that_o after_o he_o have_v know_v by_o their_o report_n such_o thing_n as_o he_o will_v than_o he_o think_v best_a to_o remove_v the_o camp_n otherwise_o it_o have_v be_v but_o over_o heady_a hastiness_n to_o take_v his_o journey_n that_o way_n which_o he_o know_v not_o see_v he_o think_v it_o profitable_a to_o be_v first_o instruct_v of_o many_o thing_n before_o he_o enter_v into_o the_o land_n of_o his_o enemy_n neither_o be_v it_o a_o strange_a thing_n that_o the_o order_n of_o time_n be_v neglect_v and_o that_o which_o follow_v be_v omit_v be_v afterwards_o rehearse_v wherefore_o the_o second_o chapter_n shall_v be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o parenthesis_n interlace_v which_o do_v more_o full_o declare_v at_o what_o time_n joshua_n command_v the_o people_n to_o remove_v with_o bag_n and_o baggage_n therefore_o when_o he_o have_v perfect_a intelligence_n of_o every_o matter_n he_o think_v it_o high_a time_n to_o march_v forward_o and_o so_o command_v the_o people_n by_o a_o edict_n to_o prepare_v themselves_o to_o remove_v and_o whereas_o with_o so_o great_a confidence_n he_o pronounce_v that_o after_o three_o day_n they_o shall_v pass_v over_o jordan_n he_o will_v never_o have_v be_v so_o bold_a to_o have_v make_v such_o a_o promise_n if_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n
