great_a god_n the_o governor_n of_o the_o world_n to_o be_v a_o enemy_n one_o will_v think_v they_o shall_v think_v this_o gospel_n good_a news_n but_o you_o will_v say_v i_o do_v yet_o neither_o know_v distinct_o what_o it_o be_v to_o humble_v myself_o neither_o can_v i_o humble_v myself_o there_o be_v not_o a_o hard_a thing_n than_o it_o be_v therefore_o i_o will_v show_v it_o you_o once_o the_o heart_n bear_v itself_o upon_o they_o and_o so_o be_v careless_a of_o the_o lord_n and_o why_o else_o do_v affliction_n humble_a man_n as_o manasses_n but_o because_o a_o man_n then_o see_v the_o emptiness_n of_o all_o thing_n it_o bring_v he_o to_o say_v with_o the_o prodigal_n i_o die_v for_o hunger_n and_o these_o can_v feed_v i_o and_o so_o to_o hold_v fast_o to_o the_o lord_n which_o a_o man_n must_v needs_o do_v when_o he_o have_v but_o one_o thing_n to_o hold_v to_o now_o when_o thou_o be_v wrought_v on_o so_o as_o to_o express_v this_o unfeigned_o this_o be_v it_o to_o humble_v thyself_o we_o shall_v hence_o learn_v to_o strengthen_v our_o faith_n if_o we_o have_v do_v this_o if_o thou_o have_v thus_o humble_v thy_o faith_n self_n confess_v thy_o sin_n take_v up_o a_o full_a resolution_n to_o forsake_v they_o thou_o shall_v have_v mercy_n according_a to_o that_o promise_n prov._n 28._o 13._o he_o that_o confess_v and_o 13_o for_o sake_v shall_v have_v mercy_n judgement_n of_o thy_o sin_n and_o misery_n and_o unability_n to_o help_v effectual_a thyself_o as_o it_o have_v turn_v the_o bent_n and_o rudder_n of_o thy_o will_n so_o as_o thou_o say_v i_o will_v go_v and_o humble_v myself_o to_o my_o father_n change_v my_o course_n confess_v and_o forsake_v my_o sin_n though_o thy_o affection_n seem_v to_o thou_o not_o stir_v yet_o this_o be_v enough_o to_o translate_v thou_o into_o the_o estate_n of_o grace_n for_o i_o ask_v to_o what_o end_n be_v mourn_a and_o weep_v require_v but_o to_o awaken_v a_o man_n to_o come_v home_o to_o god_n in_o this_o carry_v about_o he_o a_o deadly_a disease_n so_o as_o upon_o the_o discovery_n and_o knowledge_n of_o it_o he_o be_v content_a to_o part_v with_o all_o he_o have_v to_o the_o physician_n and_o be_v wary_a of_o meddle_v simile_n with_o any_o meat_n that_o will_v hurt_v he_o and_o increase_v it_o if_o he_o know_v this_o that_o it_o be_v deadly_a though_o he_o have_v no_o sense_n of_o pain_n it_o be_v all_o one_o and_o there_o be_v some_o disease_n you_o know_v wherein_o a_o man_n feel_v not_o so_o much_o pain_n that_o yet_o be_v mortal_a it_o may_v make_v he_o as_o careful_a to_o use_v the_o mean_n and_o so_o be_v it_o here_o if_o the_o conviction_n of_o the_o sinfulness_n and_o deadliness_n of_o sin_n work_v those_o disposition_n mention_v in_o thou_o than_o thou_o have_v the_o end_n which_o mourning_n tend_v to_o and_o that_o be_v all_o one_o though_o thy_o affection_n be_v not_o so_o stir_v consider_v to_o the_o promise_n be_v make_v to_o one_o come_v in_o and_o take_v christ_n and_o believe_v in_o he_o they_o be_v not_o make_v to_o the_o commotion_n of_o the_o affection_n and_o here_o in_o the_o word_n the_o promise_n be_v make_v to_o humble_v thyself_o out_o of_o a_o solidity_n of_o judgement_n it_o be_v no_o matter_n by_o what_o mean_v you_o be_v bring_v to_o take_v hold_n on_o christ_n so_o you_o come_v to_o he_o it_o be_v all_o one_o whether_o i_o come_v to_o my_o journey_n end_n by_o land_n or_o by_o water_n on_o horse_n back_o or_o on_o foot_n so_o i_o be_v come_v thither_o if_o thou_o find_v thou_o do_v the_o thing_n that_o a_o humble_a man_n shall_v do_v then_o though_o thy_o affection_n seem_v not_o to_o be_v move_v yet_o in_o very_a deed_n they_o be_v move_v and_o change_v as_o if_o thou_o be_v fearful_a to_o return_v to_o thy_o sin_n be_v resolve_v to_o please_v god_n in_o all_o thing_n to_o thy_o power_n for_o what_o be_v affection_n but_o divers_a position_n and_o situation_n of_o the_o will_n and_o what_o the_o foot_n it_o walk_v upon_o they_o be_v but_o the_o divers_a motion_n and_o inclination_n whereby_o the_o will_n shoot_v itself_o into_o the_o object_n of_o it_o now_o look_v which_o way_n thy_o will_n be_v resolve_v and_o set_v that_o way_n be_v thy_o affection_n set_v also_o if_o thou_o see_v one_o ro_o rise_v up_o soon_o and_o go_v to_o bed_v late_o to_o avoid_v poverty_n and_o to_o get_v riches_n a_o wise_a man_n will_v assure_v himself_o that_o his_o simile_n aim_n be_v such_o and_o his_o heart_n set_v upon_o riches_n his_o action_n show_v that_o his_o affection_n do_v move_v strong_o that_o way_n if_o it_o meet_v with_o tree_n than_o the_o wind_n rise_v and_o if_o the_o tide_n meet_v with_o the_o wind_n than_o the_o wave_n rise_v so_o if_o our_o affection_n be_v cross_v we_o be_v sure_a to_o hear_v of_o they_o then_o if_o thou_o have_v not_o some_o hopeful_a assurance_n of_o thy_o estate_n thou_o will_v hear_v of_o mourning_n and_o droop_v than_o it_o may_v be_v the_o work_n of_o grace_n in_o thou_o have_v always_o go_v even_o on_o the_o stream_n have_v run_v calm_o and_o quiet_o but_o yet_o such_o do_v find_v that_o upon_o some_o sudden_a accident_n or_o drawing_n nigh_o when_o the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o make_v a_o impression_n upon_o they_o than_o they_o hear_v of_o stir_a affection_n but_o to_o conclude_v all_o know_v and_o resolve_v upon_o it_o that_o the_o flow_a and_o of_o grace_n in_o a_o man_n ordinary_a whole_a course_n be_v not_o see_v in_o keep_v man_n from_o relapse_n altogether_o but_o in_o set_v sin_n and_o the_o heart_n at_o odds_n as_o health_n and_o sickness_n whilst_o a_o man_n be_v a_o live_a man_n he_o can_v be_v friend_n with_o any_o disease_n but_o nature_n will_v resist_v it_o it_o set_v they_o at_o variance_n as_o the_o wolf_n and_o the_o lamb_n as_o the_o spring_n and_o mud_n and_o live_a water_n will_v cleanse_v themselves_o though_o the_o mud_n arise_v a_o thousand_o time_n if_o as_o the_o wolf_n which_o reckon_v the_o lamb_n the_o enmity_n there_o if_o thou_o find_v this_o to_o be_v the_o constant_a disposition_n of_o thy_o mind_n keep_v thy_o assurance_n strong_a though_o many_o weakness_n be_v discover_v in_o thou_o it_o be_v utter_o a_o fault_n among_o you_o to_o weaken_v your_o assurance_n by_o your_o daily_a slipping_n and_o fail_n assurance_n and_o satan_n labour_v that_o above_o all_o other_o for_o then_o when_o but_o to_o converse_v with_o god_n and_o christ_n all_o converse_n be_v not_o with_o thing_n but_o person_n therefore_o in_o a_o holy_a course_n all_o that_o you_o have_v to_o do_v be_v with_o the_o lord_n himself_o to_o open_v your_o heart_n to_o he_o to_o resort_v to_o he_o for_o counsel_n to_o delight_v in_o he_o to_o converse_v with_o a_o man_n be_v to_o deal_v with_o he_o upon_o all_o presence_n and_o unto_o his_o person_n this_o be_v to_o walk_v with_o god_n as_o enoch_n do_v which_o still_o respect_v his_o person_n for_o so_o walk_v with_o imply_v again_o no_o man_n can_v be_v save_v without_o love_n to_o god_n and_o that_o love_n must_v not_o be_v amor_fw-la concupiscentiae_fw-la but_o amor_fw-la amicitiae_fw-la a_o love_n of_o friendship_n the_o one_o respect_n thing_n the_o other_o person_n your_o love_n must_v first_o be_v to_o the_o person_n and_o then_o to_o the_o commodity_n you_o have_v by_o he_o and_o the_o duty_n you_o be_v to_o perform_v to_o he_o but_o law_n in_o its_o true_a work_n can_v be_v without_o the_o gospel_n nor_o the_o gospel_n without_o the_o law_n so_o as_o to_o a_o perfect_a work_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o law_n must_v precede_v whatsoever_o a_o man_n sin_n be_v if_o he_o be_v true_o humble_v for_o they_o and_o forsake_v they_o they_o shall_v be_v forgive_v he_o this_o be_v the_o main_a point_n you_o may_v observe_v by_o the_o way_n that_o the_o gospel_n be_v as_o full_o preach_v to_o the_o jew_n as_o to_o we_o so_o you_o see_v it_o be_v here_o they_o have_v the_o same_o way_n of_o be_v save_v that_o we_o have_v as_o great_a mercy_n promise_v and_o dispense_v only_o these_o great_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n wherein_o grace_n and_o mercy_n be_v display_v be_v not_o open_v so_o to_o they_o as_o unto_o we_o they_o have_v the_o promise_n of_o forgiveness_n as_o full_o and_o clear_o but_o know_v not_o the_o ground_n of_o they_o as_o christ_n incarnation_n death_n and_o resurrection_n as_o we_o do_v nor_o those_o glorious_a privilege_n in_o particular_a w_z ch_n we_o have_v by_o christ._n for_o the_o proof_n of_o the_o main_a point_n take_v that_o one_o place_n to_o make_v it_o good_a to_o
