a_o declartion_n and_o protest_v of_o the_o lord_n knight_n and_o gentleman_n in_o the_o county_n of_o chester_n salop_n stafford_n etc._n etc._n against_o all_o assembly_n which_o impose_v tax_n upon_o the_o people_n without_o their_o consent_n by_o their_o representative_n in_o a_o full_a free_a and_o legal_a parliament_n have_v with_o great_a trouble_n observe_v the_o grievance_n of_o the_o people_n in_o these_o late_a revolution_n and_o be_v encourage_v by_o the_o common_a consent_n of_o this_o nation_n seccond_v our_o late_a endeavour_n in_o their_o frequent_a address_n unto_o his_o excellency_n the_o lord_n general_n monck_n we_o have_v consult_v and_o thereupon_o with_o they_o do_v declare_v our_o protest_n against_o all_o power_n or_o assembly_n whatsoever_o who_o impose_v tax_n upon_o the_o people_n without_o their_o consent_n by_o their_o representative_n due_o elect_v in_o a_o full_a free_a and_o legal_a parliament_n and_o that_o any_o shall_v seem_v to_o countenance_v that_o force_n put_v upon_o the_o parliament_n now_o call_v the_o seclude_a member_n in_o the_o year_n 1648._o by_o cromwell_n and_o his_o conspirator_n seem_v unreasonable_a unto_o we_o in_o that_o they_o have_v public_o disown_v the_o like_a force_n since_o put_v upon_o themselves_o as_o unlawful_a therefore_o how_o the_o minor_a part_n of_o national_a council_n can_v exclude_v the_o major_a which_o be_v ever_o acknowledge_v the_o whole_a we_o leave_v to_o the_o consideration_n of_o all_o sober_a man_n and_o say_v that_o the_o people_n ought_v not_o to_o be_v limit_v in_o their_o election_n by_o unheard_a of_o qualification_n contrary_a to_o the_o know_a law_n of_o england_n neither_o that_o the_o member_n so_o elect_v or_o forcible_o seclude_v shall_v be_v debar_v the_o discharge_n of_o their_o trust_n by_o any_o previous_a oath_n or_o engagement_n whatsoever_o for_o that_o they_o be_v the_o first_o assertor_n of_o our_o right_n and_o freedom_n of_o parliament_n unto_o which_o they_o bind_v themselves_o the_o nation_n comply_v by_o solemn_a league_n and_o covenant_n not_o to_o destroy_v but_o to_o preserve_v the_o breach_n of_o which_o by_o other_o we_o find_v have_v bring_v these_o calamity_n upon_o we_o all_o which_o we_o hope_v will_v be_v call_v to_o remembrance_n and_o repent_v of_o as_o become_v christian_n that_o at_o last_o the_o nation_n may_v have_v peace_n and_o be_v settle_v london_n print_v for_o thomas_n poole_n 1659._o
