internal_a consolation_n and_o comfort_n again_o if_o they_o consider_v themselves_o they_o can_v be_v without_o consolation_n also_o for_o it_o be_v proper_a to_o virtue_n wherein_o they_o exercise_v themselves_o to_o work_v with_o pleasure_n and_o taste_v and_o therefore_o need_v it_o must_v be_v that_o true_a religious_a person_n rejoice_v in_o all_o their_o action_n yea_o they_o find_v consolation_n in_o their_o tribulation_n and_o persecution_n when_o they_o be_v ready_a for_o love_n of_o i_o even_o to_o suffer_v and_o endure_v the_o pain_n of_o hell_n if_o it_o can_v be_v without_o their_o own_o fault_n and_o will_v be_v for_o my_o glory_n and_o not_o only_o that_o but_o all_o the_o adversity_n and_o misery_n of_o this_o world_n beside_o 6._o final_o the_o meditation_n of_o death_n which_o strick_v a_o fear_n and_o horror_n into_o other_o to_o good_a religious_a man_n be_v a_o occasion_n and_o matter_n of_o joy_n not_o only_o for_o the_o reward_n that_o they_o expect_v but_o because_o they_o shall_v then_o have_v their_o part_n of_o that_o exceed_a and_o surpass_a consolation_n which_o they_o attend_v for_o at_o the_o hour_n of_o death_n for_o the_o care_n and_o desire_n they_o have_v in_o arrive_v to_o perfection_n for_o the_o soul_n will_v at_o that_o time_n be_v exceed_o glad_a neither_o shall_v she_o be_v able_a to_o find_v a_o end_n of_o render_v thanks_o for_o receyve_v benefit_n 7._o there_o be_v but_o one_o thing_n that_o can_v make_v a_o good_a religious_a man_n sad_a &_o that_o be_v if_o he_o fall_v into_o some_o imperfection_n but_o this_o sorrow_n can_v be_v of_o continuance_n because_o it_o be_v instant_o take_v away_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o penance_n and_o the_o fault_n cancel_v by_o contrition_n and_o upon_o this_o the_o mind_n be_v put_v again_o in_o possession_n of_o the_o former_a tranquillity_n tell_v i_o now_o my_o son_n who_o peradventure_o make_v but_o little_a esteem_n of_o perfection_n in_o what_o other_o thing_n may_v thou_o find_v so_o great_a and_o universal_a a_o contentment_n of_o mind_n what_o thing_n can_v secure_v thy_o mind_n more_o or_o better_o than_o the_o desire_n of_o of_o perfection_n consider_v thou_o not_o that_o to_o labour_n &_o attend_v to_o perfection_n be_v nothing_o else_o then_o beforehand_o to_o take_v a_o essay_n &_o that_o of_o eternal_a felicity_n thou_o must_v needs_o be_v unwise_a if_o thou_o rob_v and_o spoil_v thyself_o of_o so_o great_a a_o good_a that_o thou_o need_v not_o take_v any_o pain_n in_o restrain_v and_o conquer_a the_o desire_n of_o thy_o flesh_n and_o sense_n and_o this_o madness_n will_v appear_v the_o more_o evident_a unto_o thou_o when_o there_o will_v not_o be_v opportunity_n for_o thou_o to_o do_v that_o which_o now_o thou_o shall_v do_v happy_a be_v he_o who_o shall_v in_o that_o last_o agony_n be_v able_a to_o say_v whatsoever_o good_a i_o can_v or_o aught_o to_o do_v that_o by_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n grace_n i_o have_v do_v in_o my_o life_n time_n of_o the_o great_a pain_n and_o misery_n that_o religious_a man_n do_v suffer_v who_o forsake_v and_o leave_v the_o way_n to_o perfection_n chap._n xiii_o lord_n if_o the_o discomend_v of_o a_o bad_a religious_a man_n be_v in_o the_o same_o measure_n that_o be_v the_o commend_v of_o a_o good_a one_o i_o make_v no_o doubt_n but_o he_o live_v in_o very_o great_a affliction_n of_o mind_n for_o abandon_v and_o give_v over_o the_o way_n to_o perfection_n so_o it_o be_v my_o son_n and_o so_o much_o the_o worse_o because_o they_o acknowledge_v not_o their_o own_o infelicity_n every_o evil_n be_v wont_a to_o be_v the_o more_o dangerous_a the_o less_o it_o be_v know_v for_o if_o it_o be_v by_o carelessness_n neglect_v in_o the_o beginning_n it_o increase_v &_o by_o little_a and_o little_o gather_v so_o great_a force_n and_o strength_n as_o in_o the_o end_n it_o exercise_v a_o command_n over_o all_o o_o how_o much_o do_v a_o bad_a religious_a man_n hurt_v himself_o who_o transport_v and_o carry_v away_o by_o a_o over_o great_a liberty_n of_o live_v look_v not_o into_o himself_o that_o he_o may_v understand_v whence_o so_o sore_a perturbation_n &_o affliction_n which_o he_o endure_v in_o religion_n have_v their_o beginning_n 2._o if_o he_o turn_v himself_o to_o i_o he_o be_v ashamed_a for_o he_o know_v that_o he_o be_v call_v out_o of_o the_o world_n to_o lead_v a_o separate_v retire_v and_o perfect_a life_n and_o he_o know_v how_o many_o benefit_n i_o have_v bestow_v upon_o he_o &_o how_o great_a commodity_n i_o have_v give_v he_o towards_o the_o prosecution_n and_o practice_n of_o virtue_n and_o that_o by_o neglect_v they_o he_o have_v leave_v off_o all_o cogitation_n of_o labour_v to_o perfection_n and_o seek_v always_o to_o line_n at_o more_o liberty_n and_o to_o satisfy_v the_o allurement_n of_o the_o sense_n he_o offend_v i_o as_o much_o as_o his_o ingratitude_n be_v hateful_a unto_o i_o whence_o such_o a_o life_n proceed_v these_o be_v not_o those_o pious_a and_o good_a purpose_n that_o he_o make_v and_o give_v testimony_n of_o at_o his_o first_o
to_o be_v a_o ornament_n to_o a_o religious_a man_n whereas_o contrariwise_o human_a respect_n and_o all_o temporal_a commodity_n be_v to_o be_v tread_v under_o his_o foot_n and_o contemn_v he_o then_o who_o leave_v those_o for_o these_o do_v necessary_o put_v virtue_n under_o a_o religious_a man_n foot_n and_o raise_v humane_a respect_n upon_o his_o head_n 9_o again_o he_o that_o more_o regard_v the_o world_n estimation_n and_o riches_n thereof_o then_o perfection_n whereunto_o i_o daily_o exhort_v all_o religious_a person_n do_v i_o a_o injury_n and_o himself_o hurt_v for_o all_o they_o when_o they_o live_v in_o the_o world_n out_o of_o a_o desire_n of_o follow_a perfection_n do_v forsake_v the_o world_n the_o temporal_a commodity_n thereof_o and_o all_o humane_a thing_n beside_o but_o now_o have_v embrace_v religion_n they_o will_v give_v over_o perfection_n to_o follow_v the_o world_n be_v not_o this_o a_o manifest_a folly_n and_o since_o humane_a respect_n be_v nothing_o else_o then_o a_o certain_a vain_a fear_n lest_o a_o man_n be_v discommend_v in_o some_o one_o or_o other_o of_o his_o action_n how_o be_v it_o possible_a that_o a_o religious_a man_n desirous_a of_o perfection_n can_v be_v discommend_v can_v there_o any_o great_a glory_n befall_v he_o in_o this_o life_n then_o if_o this_o may_v be_v affirm_v &_o say_v of_o he_o and_o what_o new_a thing_n can_v happen_v to_o a_o religious_a man_n if_o he_o be_v contemn_v of_o the_o world_n do_v he_o expect_v any_o reward_n or_o recompense_v from_o it_o or_o be_v he_o afraid_a lest_o it_o will_v censure_v he_o by_o a_o condemnation_n it_o make_v no_o matter_n whether_o a_o religious_a man_n be_v love_v or_o hate_v of_o the_o world_n but_o it_o avayl_v much_o if_o he_o be_v dear_a to_o i_o 10._o to_o conclude_v other_o forbear_v to_o tread_v this_o way_n of_o perfection_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o repugnance_n that_o man_n nature_n find_v in_o practise_v the_o mean_n and_o for_o the_o difficulty_n that_o the_o body_n make_v trial_n of_o in_o trace_v the_o same_o way_n but_o these_o man_n miss_v the_o mark_n for_o to_o be_v a_o true_a religious_a man_n or_o to_o walk_v on_o to_o perfection_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o mortify_v the_o desire_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o the_o perturbation_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o therefore_o if_o thou_o forbear_v the_o exercise_n of_o virtue_n lest_o thou_o incommodate_v or_o hurt_v thy_o body_n thou_o love_v thyself_o too_o sensual_o neither_o do_v i_o see_v what_o difference_n there_o be_v between_o thou_o and_o a_o delicate_a secular_a person_n remember_v son_n that_o these_o be_v not_o the_o promise_n thou_o make_v at_o thy_o entrance_n to_o religion_n for_o than_o thou_o do_v purpose_n with_o thyself_o to_o suffer_v many_o thing_n for_o i_o to_o chastise_v thy_o body_n to_o serve_v i_o and_o for_o love_n of_o religious_a perfection_n to_o deprive_v and_o spoil_v thyself_o of_o all_o humane_a consolation_n that_o a_o good_a religious_a man_n must_v not_o content_v himself_o with_o whatsoever_o degree_n of_o perfection_n but_o must_v labour_v and_o aspire_v to_o a_o great_a chap._n xvi_o son_n those_o religious_a man_n do_v not_o satisfy_v i_o that_o aspire_v to_o a_o mean_a degree_n of_o religious_a perfection_n unless_o they_o also_o aim_v at_o the_o high_a for_o so_o i_o declare_v unto_o my_o disciple_n when_o i_o exhort_v they_o to_o be_v perfect_a not_o as_o the_o patriarck_n and_o prophet_n be_v nor_o as_o the_o seraphim_n and_o other_o the_o angel_n but_o as_o my_o father_n in_o heaven_n o_o how_o do_v that_o religious_a person_n please_v i_o who_o like_o the_o covetous_a man_n be_v desirous_a of_o true_a virtue_n and_o perfection_n the_o covetous_a man_n have_v never_o his_o fill_n for_o the_o more_o he_o have_v the_o more_o he_o desire_v and_o i_o will_v have_v religious_a man_n such_o follower_n of_o spiritual_a covetousness_n for_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n of_o a_o base_a mind_n if_o a_o man_n when_o he_o have_v mean_n to_o attain_v to_o great_a perfection_n do_v propose_v unto_o himself_o and_o think_v upon_o lesser_a but_o i_o desire_v to_o have_v my_o servant_n valiant_a and_o generous_o mind_v who_o aspire_v to_o great_a and_o hard_a matter_n for_o if_o i_o have_v create_v they_o to_o a_o end_n the_o most_o excellent_a in_o the_o world_n &_o have_v raise_v they_o up_o to_o so_o high_a a_o state_n that_o be_v to_o be_v religious_a why_o shall_v they_o not_o with_o all_o their_o possible_a force_n labour_v to_o perfection_n that_o will_v be_v most_o content_v to_o we_o both_o who_o cooperate_v not_o conformable_o to_o the_o benefit_n receive_v be_v injurious_a to_o the_o benefactor_n 2._o let_v he_o tell_v i_o whosoever_o have_v no_o care_n to_o arrive_v to_o any_o great_a perfection_n but_o think_v it_o enough_o to_o have_v have_v a_o taste_n thereof_o whether_o he_o will_v so_o deal_v with_o his_o body_n be_v he_o content_v it_o shall_v enjoy_v a_o mediocrity_n of_o health_n when_o he_o may_v have_v it_o perfect_o strong_a sound_a and_o lusty_a will_v he_o wish_v but_o a_o poor_a mean_n of_o lyve_a and_o not_o the_o best_a if_o then_o of_o all_o earthly_a thing_n which_o serve_v the_o body_n we_o choose_v the_o best_a most_o perfect_a and_o all_o in_o great_a quantity_n number_n and_o quality_n the_o most_o excellent_a why_o shall_v we_o not_o also_o for_o the_o soul_n good_a which_o be_v the_o mistress_n of_o the_o body_n wish_v and_o make_v choice_n of_o the_o most_o perfect_a and_o most_o absolute_a virtue_n that_o family_n be_v nothing_o well_o govern_v where_o the_o handmaid_n be_v better_a treat_v than_o the_o mistress_n of_o the_o house_n 3._o who_o will_v deny_v that_o it_o be_v a_o foul_a and_o shameful_a thing_n for_o a_o religious_a man_n to_o stay_v in_o the_o low_a degree_n of_o virtue_n when_o he_o see_v secular_a man_n never_o to_o make_v a_o stay_n in_o their_o degree_n of_o state_n of_o life_n which_o they_o have_v once_o embrace_v but_o ever_o to_o aspire_v to_o a_o high_a until_o they_o come_v to_o the_o high_a hence_o it_o be_v that_o a_o vulgar_a person_n first_o seek_v to_o raise_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o gentleman_n than_o a_o baron_n next_o a_o earl_n a_o marquis_n a_o duke_n until_o in_o conclusion_n he_o lay_v hold_v on_o the_o sceptre_n and_o crown_n and_o when_o he_o be_v come_v to_o this_o he_o be_v not_o content_v with_o a_o ordinary_a crown_n but_o he_o seek_v a_o more_o rich_a more_o potent_a &_o a_o more_o noble_a crown_n and_o consequent_o the_o great_a that_o can_v be_v have_v in_o this_o life_n and_o shall_v a_o religious_a man_n be_v of_o so_o dastardly_a a_o mind_n as_o not_o to_o labour_v to_o obtain_v a_o most_o noble_a spiritual_a crown_n shall_v he_o stand_v in_o the_o first_o degree_n of_o perfection_n when_o he_o may_v with_o his_o great_a commendation_n and_o no_o less_o profit_n mount_v up_o to_o the_o high_a be_v not_o this_o a_o strange_a kind_n of_o sottishness_n and_o folly_n be_v not_o this_o to_o make_v a_o light_a esteem_n of_o my_o will_n and_o to_o refuse_v the_o help_n of_o my_o grace_n by_o the_o benefit_n whereof_o he_o may_v compass_v a_o high_a degree_n of_o perfection_n 4._o understand_v my_o son_n that_o a_o religious_a man_n be_v more_o dear_a unto_o i_o who_o endeavour_v for_o my_o great_a glory_n to_o arrive_v to_o the_o high_a degree_n of_o perfection_n and_o this_o ought_v not_o without_o cause_n to_o be_v enough_o unto_o he_o not_o to_o stay_v in_o his_o course_n but_o still_o to_o hold_v on_o go_v to_o tell_v i_o what_o servant_n be_v so_o contemptible_a &_o vile_a who_o be_v content_v to_o be_v in_o little_a grace_n and_o favour_n with_o his_o lord_n when_o he_o may_v be_v in_o very_o great_a why_o then_o thou_o religious_a man_n who_o be_v for_o so_o many_o respect_v bind_v unto_o i_o as_o my_o servant_n why_o i_o say_v when_o by_o labour_v to_o perfection_n thou_o may_v deserve_v my_o extraordinary_a favour_n thou_o delay_v to_o do_v it_o what_o pain_n do_v the_o poor_a servant_n take_v to_o gain_v his_o master_n grace_n and_o how_o much_o be_v he_o afflict_v when_o he_o see_v notwithstanding_o all_o the_o diligence_n he_o use_v he_o can_v get_v into_o his_o master_n favour_n wherefore_o then_o do_v thou_o make_v a_o stand_n in_o the_o very_a entrance_n to_o perfection_n when_o thou_o may_v easy_o get_v into_o the_o innermost_a part_n of_o it_o &_o gain_v thy_o lord_n unto_o thou_o to_o please_v i_o be_v not_o my_o gain_n but_o thou_o 5._o o_o of_o what_o worth_n be_v of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n and_o how_o glorious_a be_v he_o in_o heaven_n who_o have_v deserve_v it_o the_o religious_a who_o now_o triumph_n in_o heaven_n do_v make_v so_o great_a a_o esteem_n even_o of_o the_o least_o increase_n of_o glory_n which_o they_o have_v merit_v while_o they_o labour_v to_o perfection_n here_o on_o earth_n as_o they_o do_v not_o only_o yield_v their_o creator_n immortal_a thanks_n but_o have_v rather_o also_o if_o there_o be_v need_n spend_v their_o blood_n a_o thousand_o time_n than_o not_o to_o have_v obtain_v that_o glory_n wilâ—_n thou_o therefore_o who_o may_v without_o spill_v of_o thy_o blood_n or_o loss_n of_o life_n increase_v thy_o glory_n and_o crown_n in_o heaven_n from_o day_n to_o day_n by_o profit_v towards_o perfection_n stand_v still_o in_o the_o door_n content_v with_o a_o very_a small_a measure_n of_o perfection_n 6._o take_v heed_n my_o son_n lest_o that_o befall_v unto_o thou_o which_o i_o tell_v my_o disciple_n of_o that_o to_o he_o who_o have_v shall_v be_v give_v and_o from_o he_o who_o have_v not_o shall_v also_o be_v take_v away_o that_o he_o have_v neither_o be_v that_o wont_a to_o be_v do_v only_o for_o a_o punishment_n of_o ingratitude_n but_o ordinary_o also_o it_o happen_v to_o all_o thing_n more_o or_o less_o affect_v with_o some_o quality_n for_o example_n will_v not_o much_o kindle_v easy_o forgo_v the_o little_a hear_v that_o it_o have_v not_o so_o if_o it_o have_v be_v well_o kindle_v so_o a_o religious_a man_n who_o have_v get_v but_o little_a perfection_n do_v very_o easy_o loose_v it_o but_o he_o who_o have_v get_v many_o degree_n of_o it_o do_v not_o easy_o forsake_v it_o but_o be_v like_o a_o tree_n that_o have_v take_v deep_a root_n and_o strong_o resist_v both_o wind_n and_o tempest_n 7._o there_o be_v also_o some_o who_o affect_v to_o a_o more_o free_a life_n do_v for_o purge_v of_o themselves_o say_v that_o the_o study_n of_o perfection_n be_v only_o proper_a to_o novice_n but_o they_o be_v miserable_o deceive_v for_o as_o much_o as_o all_o religious_a person_n be_v bind_v to_o labour_v to_o perfection_n and_o the_o more_o ancient_a a_o man_n be_v in_o religion_n the_o more_o diligent_a shall_v he_o be_v in_o furnish_v himself_o with_o virtue_n as_o he_o who_o ought_v to_o have_v both_o a_o great_a understanding_n and_o knowledge_n of_o his_o own_o obligation_n and_o have_v a_o long_a trial_n and_o experience_n of_o the_o sweetness_n of_o perfection_n he_o that_o be_v not_o hungry_a be_v soon_o fill_v and_o it_o be_v a_o ill_a sign_n in_o a_o religious_a man_n if_o he_o receive_v no_o pleasure_n in_o the_o study_n of_o virtue_n 8._o other_o contrariwise_o have_v a_o over_o hasty_a desire_n to_o get_v up_o to_o the_o high_a degree_n of_o perfection_n and_o if_o they_o happen_v peradventure_o to_o fall_v into_o some_o defect_n they_o be_v eftsoons_o discourage_v and_o loose_v their_o courage_n but_o this_o be_v not_o my_o will_n neither_o be_v it_o the_o way_n of_o labour_v to_o perfection_n for_o the_o great_a perfection_n be_v in_o the_o victory_n &_o overcome_v of_o all_o vice_n and_o in_o the_o purchase_n of_o all_o virtue_n &_o for_o the_o effect_n of_o this_o there_o must_v be_v some_o continuance_n of_o tyme._n wherefore_o to_o seek_v everyday_n more_o perfection_n than_o other_o which_o we_o speak_v of_o here_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o overcome_v the_o passion_n or_o to_o restrain_v the_o perturbation_n of_o the_o mind_n &_o the_o inordinate_a desire_n thereof_o and_o to_o be_v absolute_o perfect_a be_v nothing_o else_o then_o after_o the_o victory_n over_o ourselves_o to_o be_v dead_a to_o the_o world_n and_o to_o live_v to_o god_n alone_o 9_o he_o that_o have_v enemy_n and_o adversary_n can_v never_o be_v secure_a unless_o he_o cut_v they_o off_o clean_o and_o destroy_v they_o but_o necessary_a it_o be_v not_o that_o he_o take_v they_o a_o way_n at_o one_o time_n &_o all_o together_o so_o a_o religious_a man_n enemy_n be_v the_o passion_n which_o daily_a rebel_n against_o he_o and_o though_o he_o can_v overcome_v they_o all_o at_o once_o at_o one_o &_o the_o same_o time_n yet_o let_v he_o labour_n to_o extirpate_v one_o after_o another_o and_o so_o do_v he_o shall_v hold_v on_o to_o great_a perfection_n in_o like_a manner_n a_o whole_a kingdom_n be_v not_o set_v upon_o all_o at_o once_o but_o now_o one_o castle_n be_v take_v from_o the_o enemy_n and_o then_o another_o or_o some_o city_n bring_v in_o subjection_n and_o so_o one_o after_o another_o until_o he_o be_v come_v possess_v of_o the_o whole_a kingdom_n even_o so_o do_v a_o religious_a man_n who_o have_v a_o desire_n to_o invade_v &_o set_v upon_o the_o kingdom_n of_o perfection_n while_o he_o must_v now_o gain_v one_o virtue_n and_o then_o another_o &_o this_o be_v every_o day_n to_o labour_n to_o great_a perfection_n and_o therefore_o he_o must_v not_o in_o any_o sort_n be_v discourage_v though_o he_o become_v not_o very_o perfect_a by_o one_o or_o two_o action_n he_o go_v well_o onward_o in_o his_o journey_n who_o stay_v no_o where_n upon_o his_o way_n that_o a_o religious_a man_n must_v conserve_v and_o keep_v the_o perfection_n he_o have_v get_v and_o of_o the_o manner_n of_o keep_v it_o chap._n xvii_o son_n little_o profit_v the_o good_a health_n of_o body_n to_o be_v recover_v if_o it_o be_v after_o hurt_v again_o by_o any_o intemperance_n of_o eat_v or_o other_o carelessness_n since_o the_o relapse_n into_o sickness_n be_v more_o dangerous_a than_o the_o sickness_n itself_o the_o same_o be_v the_o consideration_n of_o spiritual_a perfection_n which_o once_o be_v have_v profit_v little_a if_o we_o forgo_v it_o again_o through_o default_n of_o our_o own_o vigilancy_n and_o wary_a keep_n of_o the_o same_o and_o if_o the_o relapse_n into_o corporal_a sickness_n be_v a_o matter_n of_o so_o great_a consideration_n for_o the_o danger_n towards_o the_o body_n much_o more_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v a_o relapse_n into_o the_o old_a imperfection_n that_o endanger_v the_o spiritual_a life_n 2._o son_n desire_v thou_o to_o be_v free_v from_o the_o danger_n of_o die_v spiritual_o then_o shun_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v disposition_n to_o that_o death_n for_o we_o learn_v by_o daily_a experience_n that_o they_o who_o once_o languish_v in_o the_o study_n of_o perfection_n do_v fall_n into_o a_o thousand_o defect_n and_o into_o so_o great_a levity_n and_o inconstancy_n of_o manner_n liberty_n of_o conversation_n and_o imprudency_n of_o mind_n as_o not_o only_o all_o shame_n lay_v aside_o they_o do_v nothing_o worthy_a of_o praise_n but_o do_v furthermore_o glory_n &_o rejoice_v in_o their_o own_o error_n and_o defect_n and_o in_o this_o they_o be_v not_o unlike_a to_o those_o angel_n who_o fall_v from_o heaven_n and_o together_o with_o their_o most_o grievous_a ruin_n lose_v also_o all_o their_o spiritual_a gift_n and_o way_n of_o perfection_n trace_v &_o hold_v on_o the_o way_n of_o licenciousnes_n and_o liberty_n 3._o but_o to_o conserve_v the_o degree_n of_o perfection_n thou_o have_v get_v there_o be_v two_o it_o with_o what_o regard_n to_o keep_v it_o and_o with_o what_o devotion_n and_o care_v to_o observe_v it_o in_o all_o thing_n that_o he_o be_v able_a because_o it_o be_v make_v to_o he_o who_o penetrate_v and_o enter_v into_o the_o most_o inward_a secret_n of_o the_o hart_n and_o well_o know_v who_o have_v just_a cause_n to_o observe_v it_o and_o who_o not_o 5._o but_o now_o i_o will_v desire_v to_o know_v of_o those_o to_o who_o it_o cause_v some_o trouble_n and_o difficulty_n that_o they_o be_v tie_v in_o so_o noble_a and_o holy_a a_o band_n what_o the_o cause_n be_v that_o secular_a man_n have_v they_o in_o so_o great_a regard_n and_o veneration_n they_o will_v say_v perhaps_o because_o they_o be_v religious_a and_o my_o servant_n and_o what_o make_v they_o religious_a and_o my_o servant_n but_o these_o three_o vow_n many_o secular_a person_n live_v at_o this_o day_n in_o the_o world_n far_o more_o learned_a more_o holy_a and_o more_o perfect_a than_o many_o religious_a and_o yet_o be_v they_o nothing_o so_o much_o honour_v as_o religious_a man_n be_v and_o the_o cause_n be_v because_o they_o be_v not_o tie_v to_o i_o by_o these_o holy_a band_n of_o vow_n secular_a man_n when_o they_o behold_v religious_a person_n do_v consider_v they_o as_o whole_o i_o by_o three_o vow_n consecrate_v to_o i_o &_o what_o honour_n they_o do_v they_o they_o think_v they_o give_v to_o i_o but_o this_o they_o do_v not_o to_o man_n of_o the_o world_n though_o otherwise_o eminent_a for_o their_o virtue_n and_o therefore_o to_o be_v tie_v in_o these_o band_n be_v no_o contemptible_a matter_n but_o most_o honourable_a and_o most_o noble_a even_o to_o the_o world_n since_o the_o religious_a be_v in_o so_o great_a veneration_n with_o the_o great_a man_n of_o &_o therefore_o have_v no_o merit_n of_o their_o work_n at_o all_o thou_o be_v deceive_v for_o there_o be_v two_o necessity_n one_o natural_a and_o this_o take_v away_o all_o liberty_n merit_n &_o induce_v to_o put_v their_o neck_n under_o the_o yoke_n of_o the_o gospel_n these_o two_o thing_n do_v not_o well_o suit_n to_o gain_v soul_n and_o to_o attend_v withal_o to_o our_o private_a commodity_n and_o pleasure_n 4._o if_o again_o my_o son_n thou_o turn_v thyself_o to_o the_o founder_n of_o religion_n thou_o shall_v find_v that_o they_o be_v so_o great_a lover_n of_o poverty_n as_o so_o much_o afraid_a of_o the_o name_n of_o poverty_n who_o disciple_n and_o follower_n they_o be_v what_o rule_n permit_v they_o to_o have_v good_n and_o provision_n of_o their_o own_o wherefore_o do_v they_o take_v pain_n to_o get_v money_n together_o whether_o to_o convert_v it_o to_o their_o own_o use_n or_o to_o leave_v it_o to_o other_o howsoever_o they_o do_v it_o even_o secular_a man_n have_v not_o care_n to_o gather_v riches_n for_o any_o other_o cause_n what_o difference_n then_o be_v there_o between_o the_o religious_a man_n and_o those_o of_o the_o world_n this_o be_v not_o for_o a_o man_n to_o bear_v heaven_n away_o by_o violence_n but_o to_o afflict_v and_o vex_v himself_o for_o the_o gather_n of_o earthly_a trash_n together_o the_o doctrine_n that_o i_o have_v deliver_v be_v not_o so_o neither_o be_v they_o the_o follower_n of_o their_o founder_n and_o forefather_n and_o see_v they_o trace_v not_o the_o same_o step_n with_o they_o they_o will_v never_o come_v to_o the_o same_o degree_n of_o perfection_n that_o they_o do_v 5._o lord_n if_o thou_o give_v we_o not_o some_o spur_n to_o put_v we_o forward_o to_o love_v poverty_n it_o will_v easy_o be_v they_o call_v poverty_n their_o lady_n and_o queen_n and_o for_o such_o they_o esteem_v and_o use_v it_o neither_o do_v they_o this_o in_o the_o first_o fervour_n of_o their_o conversion_n only_o but_o the_o elder_a they_o wax_v in_o the_o serve_v of_o god_n the_o more_o they_o love_v and_o reverence_v it_o and_o for_o that_o cause_n they_o be_v very_o earnest_a and_o desirous_a that_o they_o may_v give_v up_o their_o last_o breath_n to_o god_n upon_o the_o bare_a ground_n 7._o on_o the_o contrary_a side_n i_o be_o not_o a_o little_a displease_v to_o see_v some_o religious_a so_o little_a devote_a to_o poverty_n as_o those_o who_o discommend_v it_o have_v a_o horror_n to_o it_o as_o a_o thing_n to_o be_v detest_v and_o by_o deed_n also_o go_v against_o it_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o in_o their_o meat_n and_o drink_v in_o their_o clothing_n and_o habitation_n they_o will_v be_v entreat_v commodious_o and_o daint_o yea_o &_o that_o better_a and_o more_o commodious_o than_o they_o entreat_v themselves_o in_o the_o world_n and_o if_o they_o have_v not_o every_o thing_n as_o they_o listen_v they_o be_v trouble_v and_o can_v take_v no_o rest_n at_o all_o and_o what_o a_o infelicity_n be_v this_o they_o give_v over_o the_o world_n to_o serve_v i_o they_o leave_v all_o their_o riches_n neglect_v their_o commodity_n and_o of_o themselves_o vow_v poverty_n that_o they_o worthy_a of_o praise_n but_o also_o spoil_v many_o of_o their_o eternal_a felicity_n both_o for_o that_o it_o take_v not_o away_o the_o exceed_a desire_n of_o have_v which_o be_v the_o root_n of_o all_o evil_n and_o also_o for_o that_o it_o set_v it_o on_o fire_n so_o fare_v as_o it_o make_v a_o man_n mind_n devoid_a of_o all_o manner_n of_o peace_n and_o quiet_a whence_o it_o be_v that_o many_o become_v robber_n thief_n and_o do_v not_o admit_v any_o cogitation_n of_o heaven_n at_o all_o 3._o some_o be_v possess_v of_o great_a store_n of_o riches_n but_o they_o tie_v not_o their_o affection_n unto_o they_o yea_o they_o be_v ready_a when_o it_o shall_v please_v i_o and_o when_o i_o shall_v think_v good_a to_o leave_v they_o and_o of_o such_o poor_a in_o spirit_n there_o be_v find_v very_o few_o in_o the_o world_n final_o some_o there_o be_v who_o that_o they_o may_v be_v the_o more_o free_a in_o the_o exercise_n of_o true_a virtue_n do_v contemn_v and_o forsake_v all_o earthly_a riches_n not_o only_o out_o of_o a_o affection_n of_o mind_n but_o by_o effect_n of_o work_n also_o so_o do_v my_o apostle_n &_o many_o other_o religious_a who_o be_v now_o in_o present_a possession_n of_o the_o riches_n of_o heaven_n and_o this_o be_v religious_a poverty_n whereunto_o i_o have_v promise_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n where_o all_o the_o religious_a shall_v be_v crown_v with_o the_o most_o noble_a crown_n of_o glory_n but_o the_o number_n of_o these_o be_v very_o small_a 4._o if_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n can_v be_v buy_v with_o money_n or_o exchange_v with_o kingdom_n and_o riches_n of_o the_o world_n great_a will_v be_v the_o excellency_n and_o dignity_n of_o the_o good_n of_o fortune_n and_o every_o one_o may_v love_v they_o as_o his_o own_o soul_n this_o excellency_n i_o have_v impart_v to_o religious_a poverty_n which_o of_o terrene_a riches_n make_v a_o ladder_n whereby_o it_o may_v mount_v up_o to_o heaven_n contrariwise_o the_o rich_a of_o the_o world_n dig_v the_o earth_n for_o the_o get_n of_o gold_n and_o silver_n out_o of_o her_o bowel_n and_o therein_o they_o place_v and_o fix_v their_o hart_n and_o bury_v it_o with_o the_o renounce_n of_o heaven_n together_o with_o the_o true_a felicity_n thereof_o but_o the_o poor_a religious_a man_n because_o he_o direct_v his_o hart_n to_o heaven_n make_v himself_o worthy_a of_o a_o heavenly_a reward_n what_o manner_n of_o way_n a_o man_n shall_v enter_v into_o such_o shall_v he_o find_v the_o end_n of_o it_o 5._o beside_o a_o religious_a man_n by_o the_o vow_n of_o poverty_n become_v superior_a to_o the_o whole_a world_n and_o above_o it_o for_o whereas_o he_o desire_v not_o to_o possess_v any_o thing_n in_o this_o life_n as_o his_o own_o he_o have_v no_o dependence_n on_o the_o world_n or_o the_o thing_n thereof_o but_o as_o one_o above_o it_o he_o contemn_v all_o that_o be_v within_o the_o compass_n or_o power_n of_o it_o the_o contrary_n happen_v to_o such_o as_o be_v addict_v to_o the_o world_n who_o be_v at_o the_o command_n of_o so_o many_o master_n as_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o they_o desire_v to_o have_v and_o possess_v 6._o moreover_o religious_a poverty_n manife_v a_o certain_a power_n and_o might_n against_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n itself_o for_o nature_n desire_v and_o incline_v a_o man_n to_o desire_v riches_n and_o the_o commodity_n of_o the_o body_n as_o the_o delicacy_n of_o meat_n niceness_n of_o apparel_n sport_n pastime_n and_o recreation_n but_o religious_a poverty_n withdraw_v all_o these_o from_o itself_o for_o my_o sake_n and_o therefore_o overcome_v nature_n and_o how_o then_o shall_v not_o i_o high_o esteem_v they_o who_o witting_o and_o willing_o move_v out_o of_o love_n of_o i_o alone_o do_v deprive_v themselves_o of_o all_o these_o lawful_a commodity_n and_o whereunto_o nature_n of_o itself_o invit_v they_o 7._o hear_v also_o my_o son_n another_o excellency_n of_o religious_a poverty_n if_o any_o needy_a or_o poor_a man_n become_v rich_a by_o his_o own_o industry_n or_o by_o any_o other_o occasion_n the_o world_n meruayl_v not_o but_o it_o wonder_v much_o if_o a_o rich_a man_n become_v voluntary_o poor_a and_o such_o a_o one_o indeed_o as_o do_v not_o only_o make_v away_o his_o riches_n but_o also_o deprive_v himself_o of_o the_o power_n and_o ability_n of_o possess_v they_o fore_o ever_o after_o and_o at_o this_o the_o world_n be_v astonish_v the_o more_o for_o that_o itself_o have_v nothing_o in_o more_o esteem_n than_o riches_n of_o the_o world_n &_o shun_v nothing_o with_o a_o great_a care_n than_o poverty_n all_o this_o proceed_v of_o nothing_o else_o then_o that_o it_o understand_v not_o the_o dignity_n and_o excellency_n of_o religious_a poverty_n let_v the_o world_n tell_v i_o can_v it_o with_o all_o it_o own_o riches_n and_o pleasure_n satiate_v and_o fill_v a_o man_n hart_n so_o as_o it_o may_v be_v at_o quiet_a nothing_o less_o for_o that_o as_o many_o as_o be_v lover_n of_o the_o world_n the_o more_o they_o have_v the_o more_o desire_n they_o to_o have_v and_o while_o they_o can_v be_v satisfy_v with_o what_o they_o have_v get_v they_o never_o arrive_v to_o any_o true_a peace_n and_o quiet_a of_o mind_n but_o the_o religious_a who_o neither_o have_v any_o thing_n proper_a of_o their_o own_o nor_o desire_v to_o have_v live_v content_a with_o very_o little_a be_v not_o this_o a_o certain_a participation_n of_o everlasting_a felicity_n that_o a_o man_n as_o he_o shall_v one_o day_n live_v content_a in_o heaven_n with_o the_o glory_n thereof_o so_o live_v now_o on_o earth_n content_a &_o quiet_a with_o his_o religious_a poverty_n 8._o neither_o be_v it_o the_o least_o commendation_n of_o religious_a poverty_n that_o it_o not_o only_o conserve_v and_o keep_v the_o religious_a but_o have_v further_a be_v the_o foundress_n of_o all_o religion_n as_o many_o as_o have_v be_v and_o still_o be_v in_o god_n church_n the_o monastery_n indeed_o and_o the_o cloister_n be_v erect_v and_o build_v with_o money_n and_o the_o good_n of_o fortune_n but_o the_o religious_a be_v not_o found_v by_o they_o for_o the_o first_o founder_n who_o have_v store_n of_o riches_n for_o the_o consecrate_v of_o themselves_o to_o my_o service_n do_v give_v away_o their_o riches_n as_o impediment_n to_o a_o better_a course_n of_o life_n and_o after_o a_o good_a foundation_n lay_v of_o the_o spirit_n of_o poverty_n and_o of_o mortification_n i_o use_v they_o as_o director_n and_o guide_v for_o the_o draw_v of_o other_o and_o by_o this_o mean_n religion_n be_v found_v stone_n and_o timber_n be_v lay_v and_o raise_v by_o riches_n but_o virtue_n be_v build_v &_o raise_v by_o poverty_n of_o spirit_n 9_o but_o suppose_v that_o there_o be_v not_o any_o thing_n worthy_a of_o commendation_n or_o excellent_a in_o poverty_n be_v it_o not_o a_o great_a dignity_n that_o it_o be_v love_v of_o i_o and_o esteem_v of_o i_o that_o it_o be_v to_o i_o a_o inseparable_a &_o fast_a companion_n during_o the_o whole_a course_n
can_v the_o apostle_n when_o they_o preach_v the_o gospel_n have_v move_v the_o world_n or_o have_v do_v other_o great_a matter_n which_o they_o do_v if_o they_o have_v be_v cumber_v with_o wife_n &_o child_n those_o therefore_o who_o embrace_v purity_n both_o of_o mind_n and_o body_n be_v more_o apt_a to_o receive_v the_o clear_a light_n of_o my_o grace_n to_o contemplate_v matter_n of_o heaven_n the_o mystery_n of_o the_o divinity_n the_o bless_a spirit_n the_o greatness_n and_o excellency_n of_o the_o eternal_a felicity_n and_o of_o the_o good_n prepare_v for_o the_o virtuous_a in_o heaven_n whence_o it_o be_v that_o man_n also_o though_o still_o live_v in_o a_o mortal_a body_n if_o he_o conserve_v his_o integrity_n of_o body_n and_o mind_n do_v even_o now_o in_o part_n begin_v to_o enjoy_v the_o pleasure_n of_o paradise_n 5._o neither_o be_v this_o the_o least_o of_o chastity_n excellencye_n that_o it_o so_o beautify_v and_o set_v forth_o a_o man_n soul_n as_o it_o make_v it_o most_o grateful_a to_o my_o eye_n for_o though_o all_o virtue_n adorn_v the_o soul_n and_o every_o one_o give_v it_o a_o particular_a ornament_n yet_o chastity_n because_o it_o conserve_v it_o from_o all_o stain_n of_o the_o flesh_n make_v it_o most_o pure_a and_o most_o beautiful_a as_o contrary_a wise_a the_o vice_n of_o the_o flesh_n make_v it_o so_o foul_a and_o ugly_a as_o though_o it_o be_v provide_v of_o all_o other_o moral_a virtue_n yet_o may_v it_o hardly_o be_v endure_v the_o external_a beauty_n of_o time_n be_v a_o occasion_n of_o the_o soul_n perdition_n but_o chastity_n which_o be_v the_o soul_n beauty_n beside_o that_o that_o it_o be_v most_o acceptable_a to_o god_n procure_v both_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n good_a together_o 6._o final_o religious_a chastity_n though_o it_o be_v of_o itself_o noble_a &_o excellent_a receyve_v yet_o great_a splendour_n and_o perfection_n from_o many_o other_o thing_n for_o first_o it_o be_v great_o ennoble_v by_o vow_n by_o virtue_n whereof_o a_o religious_a man_n have_v renounce_v all_o kind_n of_o pleasure_n whether_o the_o same_o appertain_v to_o the_o body_n and_o sense_n or_o to_o the_o mind_n and_o internal_a faculty_n thereof_o again_o it_o borow_v no_o small_a excellency_n from_o the_o very_a fountain_n and_o origin_n thereof_o which_o be_v a_o sincere_a and_o perfect_a love_n of_o i_o for_o a_o religious_a man_n move_v not_o of_o any_o necessity_n or_o hope_v of_o commodity_n nor_o for_o any_o other_o human_a respect_n be_v induce_v to_o forsake_v all_o pleasure_n of_o the_o flesh_n but_o only_o for_o the_o please_a of_o i_o and_o therefore_o religious_a chastity_n be_v the_o more_o commendable_a for_o this_o because_o it_o be_v endue_v with_o most_o perfect_a charity_n which_o be_v the_o nurse_n and_o mother_n thereof_o no_o little_a splendour_n and_o perfection_n also_o be_v add_v unto_o it_o by_o the_o end_n and_o scope_n that_o religious_a chastity_n have_v propose_v and_o this_o end_n be_v nothing_o else_o than_o my_o honour_n and_o glory_n and_o therefore_o the_o religious_a bind_v themselves_o to_o perpetual_a chastity_n for_o that_o by_o it_o god_n service_n be_v in_o a_o wonderful_a sort_n amplify_v and_o so_o it_o be_v no_o marvel_n though_o religious_a chastity_n challenge_v the_o first_o place_n among_o all_o the_o degree_n of_o chastity_n the_o more_o excellent_a and_o perfect_a chastity_n be_v the_o more_o it_o communicate_v to_o they_o that_o love_v it_o 7._o wherefore_o son_n see_v chastity_n be_v so_o noble_a &_o excellent_a i_o do_v not_o hold_v it_o enough_o if_o thou_o embrace_v it_o after_o a_o mean_a manner_n or_o have_v a_o earnest_a desire_n unto_o it_o as_o to_o a_o most_o precious_a jewel_n but_o i_o can_v rather_o wish_v thou_o will_v also_o that_o i_o do_v not_o gracious_o impart_v unto_o it_o and_o this_o alone_a shall_v set_v every_o religious_a man_n mind_n on_o fire_n to_o desire_v this_o heavenly_a gem_n wonderful_o shine_v not_o only_o in_o the_o company_n of_o virtue_n on_o earth_n but_o also_o in_o heaven_n among_o the_o company_n of_o the_o bless_a the_o more_o tender_o thou_o shall_v love_v chastity_n the_o more_o thou_o shall_v be_v love_v of_o god_n and_o if_o thou_o can_v not_o love_v it_o as_o much_o as_o it_o deserve_v at_o least_o love_v it_o in_o what_o thou_o be_v able_a how_o great_o convenient_a it_o be_v for_o a_o religious_a man_n to_o be_v chaste_a chap._n xv._o lord_n i_o well_o understand_v that_o it_o be_v very_o convenient_a that_o he_o be_v chaste_a who_o attend_v to_o thy_o service_n consider_v by_o the_o benefit_n of_o his_o vow_n he_o be_v consecrate_v and_o bind_v to_o thou_o the_o fountain_n of_o all_o purity_n it_o be_v nothing_o agreeable_a that_o under_o a_o clean_a and_o pure_a head_n the_o member_n shall_v be_v filthy_a and_o foul_a but_o i_o know_v not_o how_o i_o may_v long_o defend_v my_o chastity_n since_o i_o have_v at_o home_o a_o capital_a enemy_n who_o trust_v to_o both_o inward_a and_o outward_a help_n become_v so_o stout_a &_o hardy_a as_o i_o almost_o despair_v of_o the_o victory_n now_o thou_o know_v o_o lord_n how_o sore_o this_o insolent_a and_o proud_a flesh_n persecute_v the_o purity_n of_o my_o soul_n thou_o be_v not_o ignorant_a how_o many_o assault_v it_o make_v night_n and_o day_n upon_o it_o and_o yet_o this_o do_v not_o make_v satan_n without_o do_v minister_n help_v unto_o it_o 2._o son_n what_o thou_o say_v be_v most_o true_a but_o thou_o must_v not_o be_v dismay_v for_o it_o for_o the_o great_a that_o the_o enemy_n boldness_n &_o poweris_n the_o more_o glorious_a will_v the_o victory_n &_o crown_n be_v that_o follow_v after_o neither_o shall_v thou_o want_v my_o help_n only_o play_v thou_o the_o man_n and_o use_v all_o thy_o force_n for_o the_o maintain_n of_o chastity_n and_o no_o enemy_n from_o within_o or_o without_o shall_v get_v the_o victory_n from_o thou_o and_o see_v thou_o acknowledge_v and_o confess_v also_o that_o it_o be_v convenient_a that_o my_o religious_a servant_n be_v chaste_a as_o i_o their_o lord_n be_o know_v thou_o that_o i_o be_v ever_o so_o hearty_a a_o lover_n of_o purity_n as_o my_o adversary_n who_o calumniate_v i_o in_o very_o many_o thing_n dare_v not_o accuse_v or_o condemn_v i_o of_o the_o very_a lest_o defect_n against_o chastity_n and_o that_o the_o religious_a aught_o to_o be_v such_o their_o state_n exact_v since_o they_o make_v a_o profession_n to_o be_v my_o follower_n &_o imitator_n of_o my_o life_n wherefore_o see_v i_o be_v exceed_o affect_v to_o this_o virtue_n of_o chastity_n and_o regard_v it_o as_o the_o guide_n of_o a_o spiritual_a life_n requisite_a it_o be_v that_o they_o also_o embrace_v and_o take_v it_o for_o their_o lady_n and_o mistress_n 3._o and_o because_o i_o make_v so_o high_a a_o esteem_n of_o purity_n and_o be_o in_o the_o high_a degree_n avert_v from_o the_o vice_n of_o concupiscence_n why_o will_v thou_o have_v i_o to_o entertain_v a_o dishonest_a servant_n within_o my_o house_n or_o that_o i_o shall_v endure_v he_o in_o the_o same_o how_o shall_v i_o suffer_v that_o any_o service_n shall_v be_v do_v i_o by_o he_o who_o i_o know_v to_o have_v a_o unclean_a mind_n the_o servant_n that_o accommodate_v not_o himself_o to_o his_o lord_n and_o master_n or_o neglect_v to_o procure_v his_o love_n and_o good_a will_n either_o will_v not_o be_v long_a stable_n in_o his_o office_n or_o if_o he_o continue_v in_o it_o will_v make_v very_o little_a profit_n thereby_o and_o will_v put_v himself_o in_o danger_n of_o be_v thrust_v out_o to_o his_o own_o great_a hurt_n and_o no_o little_a shame_n and_o confusion_n do_v i_o require_v at_o my_o servant_n hand_n any_o thing_n unfitting_a unseemly_a or_o impossible_a i_o require_v purity_n which_o be_v a_o principal_a virtue_n i_o require_v of_o he_o that_o he_o suffer_v not_o himself_o to_o be_v supplant_v or_o overcome_v by_o his_o sensuality_n and_o this_o be_v honourable_a i_o exact_v of_o he_o that_o which_o he_o have_v promise_v and_o that_o be_v to_o live_v chaste_o which_o be_v a_o point_n of_o justice_n 4._o further_o i_o long_o to_o by_o he_o especial_o if_o it_o be_v hard_a and_o troublesome_a this_o be_v not_o the_o desire_n of_o a_o good_a and_o true_a religious_a man_n labour_v to_o perfection_n but_o only_o to_o be_v willing_a to_o seem_v religious_a in_o name_n and_o not_o indeed_o and_o to_o wish_v that_o the_o superior_a be_v a_o statue_n or_o image_n &_o not_o a_o living_n man_n other_o will_v have_v a_o superior_a industrious_a and_o diligent_a in_o procure_v necessarye_n appertain_v to_o meat_n drink_n clothing_n and_o like_a commodity_n and_o in_o all_o event_n to_o take_v a_o special_a care_n in_o patronise_a defend_v and_o help_v they_o but_o they_o wisâ—_n he_o not_o to_o be_v so_o vigilant_a in_o observation_n oâ—_n religious_a discipline_n which_o depend_v oâ—_n obedience_n and_o this_o desire_n be_v much_o worse_a than_o the_o former_a for_o to_o wish_v this_o be_v nothing_o else_o then_o to_o have_v a_o will_n and_o desire_n thaâ—_n the_o superior_a make_v his_o subject_n not_o good_a religious_a but_o idle_a and_o slothful_a who_o may_v have_v care_n of_o their_o body_n and_o neglect_v to_o direct_v their_o soul_n in_o the_o way_n of_o spirit_n who_o may_v be_v a_o good_a companion_n and_o a_o bad_a superior_a the_o subject_n who_o have_v a_o desire_n that_o his_o superior_a shall_v not_o perform_v the_o office_n of_o a_o good_a superior_a do_v manifest_o declare_v
