a_o parliament_n to_o meet_v the_o 6_o of_o march_n 1678._o it_o be_v hope_v that_o effectual_a course_n will_v have_v be_v take_v to_o detect_v and_o bring_v the_o conspirator_n to_o condign_a punishment_n and_o by_o law_n to_o have_v secure_v the_o protestant_a religion_n against_o their_o attempt_n it_o be_v impossible_a as_o your_o petitioner_n humble_o conceive_v that_o the_o same_o can_v any_o way_n be_v do_v but_o by_o authority_n of_o parliament_n and_o those_o hope_n be_v the_o more_o raise_v from_o his_o majesty_n most_o gracious_a declaration_n of_o the_o 21_o april_n 1679._o on_o the_o change_n of_o his_o privy_a council_n that_o he_o be_v resolve_v in_o all_o weighty_a and_o important_a affair_n next_o to_o the_o advice_n of_o his_o great_a council_n in_o parliament_n which_o he_o will_v very_o often_o consult_v with_o to_o be_v ●●vised_v by_o that_o privy_a council_n but_o that_o parliament_n be_v prorogue_v the_o 27._o may_v 1679_o and_o afterward_o many_o of_o that_o privy_a council_n be_v change_v and_o then_o follow_v a_o dissolution_n of_o the_o parliament_n a_o new_a parliament_n be_v call_v to_o meet_v in_o october_n 1679._o but_o keep_v off_o by_o many_o prorogation_n till_o october_n 1680._o and_o before_o any_o thing_n can_v be_v perfect_v for_o the_o security_n of_o religion_n the_o same_o be_v dissolve_v and_o another_o summon_v to_o meet_v at_o oxford_n which_o be_v also_o dissolve_v and_o nothing_o do_v thereby_o the_o protestant_a religion_n and_o the_o life_n and_o liberty_n of_o his_o majestio_n protestant_n subject_n expose_v to_o the_o uttermost_a hazard_n in_o case_n his_o majesty_n who_o god_n long_o preserve_v shall_v depart_v this_o life_n before_o a_o due_a provision_n by_o law_n can_v be_v make_v and_o your_o petitioner_n have_v hear_v that_o some_o person_n of_o this_o city_n as_o well_o in_o the_o name_n of_o many_o other_o citizen_n and_o inhabitant_n of_o this_o city_n as_o in_o their_o own_o name_n have_v go_v about_o to_o procure_v hand_n to_o a_o petition_n to_o your_o lordship_n and_o this_o honourable_a court_n insinuate_v as_o your_o petioner_n be_v inform_v that_o his_o majesty_n expression_n in_o his_o late_a declaration_n touch_v the_o two_o last_o parliament_n of_o his_o resolution_n to_o have_v frequent_a parliament_n etc._n etc._n be_v a_o full_a security_n against_o all_o the_o fear_n of_o popery_n and_o the_o design_n and_o conspiracy_n of_o papist_n which_o there_o be_v cause_n to_o believe_v be_v yet_o carry_v on_o as_o much_o as_o ever_o against_o his_o majesty_n royal_a person_n the_o protestant_a religion_n and_o the_o government_n of_o this_o kingdom_n your_o petitioner_n though_o they_o hope_v their_o fellow_n citizen_n who_o have_v sign_v the_o say_a petition_n may_v be_v good_a protestant_n and_o mean_v well_o to_o their_o religion_n and_o city_n yet_o know_v how_o cunning_a and_o subtle_a the_o papist_n and_o jesuitical_a party_n be_v by_o false_a aspersion_n and_o suggestion_n and_o secret_a insinuation_n to_o raise_v and_o ●oment_n division_n among_o protestant_n to_o set_v they_o one_o against_o another_o and_o make_v they_o instrument_n of_o their_o own_o ruin_n and_o fear_v lest_o something_o of_o this_o kind_n may_v have_v give_v rise_v to_o the_o say_a petition_n they_o have_v think_v themselves_o bind_v by_o their_o allegiance_n to_o his_o majesty_n and_o the_o duty_n that_o lie_v upon_o they_o in_o reference_n to_o the_o religion_n they_o profess_v which_o they_o desire_v may_v be_v transmit_v to_o their_o posterity_n to_o make_v this_o address_n to_o your_o lordship_n and_o this_o honourable_a court_n and_o humble_o to_o declare_v that_o as_o matter_n stand_v at_o present_a consider_v the_o bloody_a will_v be_v of_o their_o religion_n and_o justify_v whatever_o they_o shall_v do_v to_o introduce_v it_o they_o humble_o conceive_v that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o declaration_n to_o have_v frequent_a parliament_n that_o can_v contribute_v any_o thing_n to_o the_o safety_n and_o preservation_n of_o his_o majesty_n royal_a person_n who_o god_n long_o preserve_v the_o security_n of_o the_o protestant_a religion_n and_o the_o life_n and_o liberty_n and_o compose_v the_o mind_n of_o those_o that_o profess_v it_o but_o it_o must_v be_v the_o sit_v of_o a_o parliament_n so_o as_o full_o to_o examine_v the_o plot_n to_o prosecute_v the_o conspirator_n and_o to_o provide_v suitable_a law_n against_o the_o sear_a evil_n and_o without_o which_o nothing_o can_v be_v effectual_a his_o majesty_n in_o parliament_n give_v life_n to_o those_o law_n by_o his_o royal_a assent_n and_o therefore_o your_o petitioner_n humble_o pray_v that_o a_o common_a council_n may_v he_o call_v and_o
