Paul to the Romanes the xiii Chapter LEt euery soule be subiect vnto the higher powers for there is no power but of God and the powers that be are ordeyned of God Whosoeuer therefore resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God and they that resist shal receiue to themselues iudgement For Princes are not to be feared for good workes but for euil Wilt thou then be without feare of the power do wel so shalt thou haue prayse of the same For he is the minister of God for thy wealth but if thou doe euil feare for he beareth not the sworde for nought for he is the minister of God to take vengeance on him that doeth euill Wherefore ye must bee subiect not because of wrath onely but also for conscience sake For for this cause ye pay also tribute for they are Gods ministers applying themselues for the same thing Giue to all men therefore their duetie tribute to whom ye owe tribute custome to whom custome feare to whom feare honour to whom ye owe honour Owe nothing to any man but to loue one another for he that loueth another hath fulfilled the Lawe For this Thou shalt not commit adulterie Thou shalt not kill Thou shalt not steale Thou shalt not beare false witnes Thou shalt not couet and if there be any other commaundement it is briefly cōprehended in this saying euen in this Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe Loue doth not euill to his neighbour therefore is loue the fulfilling of the Lawe And that considering the season that it is nowe time that we shoulde arise from sleepe for nowe is our saluation neerer then when we beleeued it The night is past and the day is at hand let vs therefore cast away the workes of darkenesse and let vs put on the armour of light So that we walke honestly as in the day not in gluttonie and drunkennesse neither in chambering and wantonnes nor in strife and enuying But put ye on the Lord Iesus Christ and take no thought for the flesh to fulfill the lustes of it Or the C. Psalme O Be ioyfull in the Lord all ye landes serue the Lord with gladnes and come before his presence with a song Be ye sure that the Lorde he is God it is he that hath made vs and not we our selues we are his people and the sheepe of his pasture O goe your way into his gates with thankesgiuing and into his courtes with prayse be thankfull vnto him and speake good of his name For the Lorde is gracious his mercie is euerlasting and his trueth endureth from generation to generation Glory be to the father c.
