understanding_n satan_n that_o subtle_a that_o wily_a and_o most_o malicious_a enemy_n lie_v continual_o in_o wait_n for_o we_o he_o omit_v no_o opportunity_n no_o occasion_n whereby_o he_o may_v way_n which_o lead_v unto_o life_n and_o salvation_n as_o we_o be_v to_o pity_v their_o rashness_n and_o headinesse_n yea_o rather_o their_o bold_a and_o desperate_a presumption_n who_o while_o they_o walk_v in_o so_o slippery_a a_o way_n rush_z forward_z or_o rather_o be_v carry_v headlong_o with_o the_o violence_n of_o satan_n and_o their_o own_o corrupt_a and_o unsanctified_a nature_n not_o great_a sage_n that_o ever_o be_v it_o be_v nothing_o yea_o what_o if_o thou_o can_v say_v over_o the_o whole_a bible_n without_o book_n and_o with_o the_o superstitious_a jew_n tell_v exact_o how_o oft_o every_o letter_n be_v find_v in_o the_o same_o and_o withal_o be_v able_a to_o expound_v the_o hard_a and_o most_o difficult_a place_n therein_o that_o can_v be_v put_v unto_o thou_o so_o that_o all_o that_o hear_v of_o thou_o do_v admire_v thou_o as_o one_o very_o rare_a and_o eminent_a in_o thy_o kind_n all_o this_o be_v nothing_o it_o be_v in_o vain_a and_o no_o way_n available_a unto_o thou_o if_o thou_o be_v not_o as_o careful_a to_o have_v thy_o heart_n touch_v thy_o mind_n sanctify_v and_o thy_o life_n reform_v as_o thy_o head_n stuff_v and_o fill_v with_o variety_n and_o abundance_n of_o knowledge_n &_o learning_n if_o thou_o do_v not_o labour_v as_o much_o if_o not_o more_o for_o the_o practice_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o thou_o know_v then_o for_o the_o bare_a and_o naked_a speculation_n itself_o without_o fruth_a profit_n give_v i_o grace_n o_o lord_n as_o to_o use_v all_o good_a mean_n to_o attain_v unto_o all_o kind_n of_o learning_n which_o be_v necessary_a and_o profitable_a for_o i_o especial_o the_o knowledge_n of_o thy_o word_n and_o those_o secret_a and_o hide_a mystery_n which_o thou_o have_v therein_o reveal_v so_o much_o more_o with_o all_o diligence_n careful_o and_o conscionable_o to_o practice_v those_o thing_n which_o i_o have_v learn_v join_v to_o my_o knowledge_n virtue_n faith_n temperance_n patience_n godliness_n and_o unfeigned_a love_n and_o charity_n unto_o all_o man_n even_o my_o enemy_n and_o those_o that_o be_v most_o bitter_a towards_o i_o yea_o most_o wicked_o and_o malicious_o set_v against_o i_o that_o thus_o the_o knowledge_n which_o by_o thy_o blessing_n i_o shall_v attain_v unto_o may_v not_o be_v idle_a or_o unprofitable_a but_o i_o may_v abound_v and_o increase_v in_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o to_o the_o praise_n of_o thy_o name_n the_o benefit_n of_o other_o among_o who_o i_o shall_v live_v i_o own_o comfort_n in_o this_o life_n and_o the_o furtherance_n of_o my_o salvation_n in_o thy_o not_o the_o head_n see_v the_o heart_n be_v the_o seat_n and_o subject_n of_o the_o affection_n the_o brain_n of_o knowledge_n understanding_n &_o judgement_n a_o man_n may_v know_v and_o understand_v much_o and_o yet_o be_v very_o ill_o affect_v he_o may_v be_v of_o a_o large_a capacity_n and_o of_o a_o very_a deep_a apprehension_n even_o of_o the_o great_a mystery_n of_o christian_a religion_n and_o yet_o be_v of_o a_o exceed_a corrupt_a mind_n and_o of_o a_o most_o unsound_a life_n knowledge_n be_v good_a and_o to_o be_v desire_v and_o seek_v for_o and_o that_o with_o diligence_n but_o yet_o good_a affection_n must_v be_v join_v with_o it_o and_o increase_v by_o it_o or_o else_o it_o will_v not_o be_v profitable_a but_o hurtful_a and_o dangerous_a make_v the_o owner_n of_o it_o rather_o worse_o then_o better_a it_o be_v a_o good_a thing_n to_o know_v much_o but_o it_o be_v better_a and_o more_o acceptable_a to_o god_n to_o affect_v the_o good_a thing_n we_o know_v that_o it_o be_v continual_o with_o manifold_a vexation_n and_o distraction_n the_o only_a way_n to_o live_v peaceable_o and_o joyful_o be_v to_o lead_v a_o holy_a and_o a_o religious_a life_n in_o all_o sincerity_n and_o uprightness_n this_o bring_v with_o it_o that_o sweet_a peace_n and_o that_o inward_a solace_n and_o joy_n which_o the_o world_n can_v give_v o_o bless_a lord_n the_o day_n of_o this_o my_o pilgrimage_n be_v few_o and_o evil_a make_v they_o comfortable_a unto_o i_o i_o humble_o pray_v thou_o by_o lead_v i_o forward_o in_o the_o way_n of_o righteousness_n and_o true_a exceed_o pensive_a and_o grieve_v out_o of_o measure_n as_o though_o no_o great_a evil_n can_v befall_v us._n but_o if_o we_o be_v clean_o out_o of_o the_o love_n and_o favour_n of_o god_n than_o
