other_o mean_n of_o worship_v he_o outward_o than_o he_o have_v appoint_v and_o prescribe_v himself_o in_o his_o word_n as_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o administer_a of_o sacrament_n by_o minister_n lawful_o call_v public_a prayer_n fast_n and_o thanksgiving_n together_o with_o the_o censure_n of_o the_o church_n these_o in_o public_a in_o private_a there_o be_v answerable_a to_o these_o as_o talk_v &_o confer_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o mutual_a instruct_n admonish_v exhort_v or_o any_o way_n else_o which_o be_v fit_a for_o edify_v in_o all_o which_o duty_n as_o in_o many_o other_o that_o be_v good_a and_o godly_a great_a care_n must_v be_v have_v that_o they_o be_v not_o perform_v light_o rash_o false_o hypocritical_o and_o unprofitable_o for_o that_o be_v abominable_a to_o god_n as_o a_o dead_a sacrifice_n but_o contrary_o we_o must_v use_v they_o with_o all_o high_a reverence_n be_v prepare_v right_o before_o well_o affect_v in_o the_o use_n of_o they_o and_o aim_v at_o the_o most_o profitable_a end_n which_o he_o have_v appoint_v that_o so_o we_o may_v be_v approve_v and_o allow_v of_o he_o commandment_n 3._o there_o be_v also_o a_o further_a duty_n that_o not_o only_o in_o time_n of_o his_o worship_n but_o also_o in_o our_o common_a and_o usual_a speech_n and_o action_n we_o declare_v what_o a_o worthy_a and_o reverend_a estimation_n we_o have_v of_o the_o lord_n as_o by_o speak_v all_o good_a of_o his_o name_n word_n and_o work_n and_o in_o our_o lawful_a calling_n by_o order_v and_o behave_v of_o ourselves_o wise_o and_o gracious_o that_o all_o which_o live_v with_o we_o may_v see_v that_o our_o religion_n be_v join_v with_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n and_o that_o this_o be_v do_v of_o we_o in_o all_o estate_n and_o condition_n of_o our_o life_n both_o in_o prosperity_n and_o adversity_n labour_v also_o to_o persuade_v other_o to_o the_o same_o now_o as_o in_o all_o thing_n god_n must_v be_v glorify_v so_o more_o especial_o in_o a_o oath_n which_o must_v be_v use_v as_o with_o high_a reverence_n so_o in_o truth_n in_o righteousness_n and_o in_o the_o behold_n of_o god_n work_n viz._n heaven_n and_o earth_n with_o their_o furniture_n take_v sweet_a feeling_n of_o god_n his_o majesty_n and_o beauty_n which_o shine_v in_o they_o rejoice_v with_o reverence_n that_o he_o have_v give_v we_o this_o clear_a glass_n to_o behold_v his_o face_n in_o or_o rather_o his_o footstool_n which_o shall_v move_v we_o therefore_o in_o all_o our_o action_n to_o beware_v of_o hypocrisy_n commandment_n 4._o unto_o all_o these_o be_v one_o more_o to_o be_v add_v viz._n that_o upon_o the_o seven_o day_n all_o our_o work_n be_v lay_v aside_o as_o much_o as_o be_v possible_a and_o the_o whole_a day_n to_o be_v bestow_v in_o his_o worship_n and_o service_n and_o in_o thing_n direct_o tend_v to_o the_o same_o here_o for_o the_o avoid_n of_o that_o tediousness_n in_o well-doing_n whereunto_o our_o nature_n be_v prone_a the_o lord_n have_v leave_v we_o variety_n of_o holy_a exercise_n viz._n all_o public_a and_o private_a duty_n more_o free_o to_o be_v perform_v than_o at_o other_o time_n which_o wise_a and_o merciful_a regard_n of_o he_o over_o we_o if_o it_o can_v move_v we_o to_o give_v ourselves_o to_o practice_v this_o part_n of_o holiness_n whatsoever_o our_o excuse_n be_v we_o plain_o show_v that_o our_o mind_n be_v carnal_a and_o that_o we_o do_v but_o favour_v ourselves_o in_o worldliness_n or_o profaneness_n idleness_n and_o ease_v when_o we_o reason_n against_o it_o as_o be_v too_o precise_a to_o be_v good_a and_o bountiful_a just_a and_o equal_a unto_o their_o servant_n some_o be_v superior_n by_o nature_n as_o parent_n to_o who_o child_n do_v owe_v very_o much_o as_o forwardness_n in_o embrace_v their_o wholesome_a instruction_n reverence_n and_o obedience_n unto_o the_o end_n the_o dispose_n of_o their_o estate_n by_o marriage_n or_o otherwise_o that_o it_o be_v not_o without_o their_o consent_n and_o readiness_n to_o help_v their_o necessity_n etc._n etc._n they_o be_v also_o bind_v to_o teach_v they_o from_o their_o youth_n to_o keep_v they_o from_o idleness_n to_o train_v they_o up_o in_o some_o honest_a and_o lawful_a trade_n to_o govern_v they_o wise_o and_o kind_o to_o provide_v for_o their_o necessity_n of_o marriage_n and_o to_o minister_v thing_n needful_a for_o this_o present_a life_n as_o they_o shall_v be_v able_a and_o as_o they_o may_v do_v it_o religious_o and_o lawful_o some_o by_o gift_n as_o chief_o the_o minister_n to_o who_o double_a honour_n reverence_n and_o obedience_n be_v due_a for_o his_o worke-sake_n for_o he_o be_v not_o only_o a_o teacher_n but_o a_o father_n second_o the_o strong_a christian_a who_o god_n have_v endue_v with_o a_o liberal_a portion_n of_o knowledge_n wisdom_n experience_n and_o other_o heavenly_a grace_n more_o than_o other_o of_o their_o brethren_n these_o the_o weak_a must_v not_o judge_v rash_o they_o must_v bear_v with_o their_o infirmity_n so_o those_o that_o excel_v in_o any_o other_o gift_n be_v to_o be_v have_v in_o honour_n and_o account_v for_o the_o same_o some_o by_o age_n of_o the_o gray_a head_n and_o ancient_a in_o year_n who_o of_o the_o young_a sort_n be_v to_o be_v have_v in_o reverence_n and_o esteem_v neither_o be_v we_o to_o neglect_v our_o equal_n but_o their_o dignity_n and_o worthiness_n be_v to_o be_v regard_v above_o their_o own_o rom._n 12.10_o these_o duty_n we_o owe_v unto_o the_o person_n of_o our_o neighbour_n to_o which_o must_v be_v add_v a_o care_n to_o maintain_v our_o own_o reverence_n and_o credit_n among_o man_n by_o a_o course_n beseem_v our_o holy_a profession_n now_o follow_v some_o duty_n towards_o his_o life_n commandment_n 6._o first_o weighty_a to_o we_o for_o that_o be_v no_o better_a than_o folly_n and_o madness_n nay_o further_o we_o must_v be_v wise_a and_o careful_a both_o in_o word_n and_o in_o deed_n to_o cut_v of_o all_o occasion_n and_o to_o avoid_v all_o discord_n yea_o though_o it_o be_v with_o depart_v from_o some_o of_o our_o
disease_n evil_a child_n etc._n etc._n all_o which_o may_v often_o be_v avoid_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n if_o sin_n be_v take_v heed_n of_o and_o resist_v and_o if_o by_o labour_n and_o watchfulness_n the_o unruly_a heart_n be_v subdue_v whereby_o the_o way_n we_o may_v observe_v how_o unwise_o they_o do_v who_o shun_v the_o sincere_a practice_n of_o religion_n that_o they_o may_v be_v free_v from_o trouble_n when_o as_o religion_n do_v free_a a_o man_n from_o so_o many_o as_o the_o faithful_a be_v free_v whole_o from_o trouble_n so_o when_o they_o be_v in_o god_n deliver_v they_o out_o of_o many_o when_o as_o the_o wicked_a remain_n in_o they_o pro._n 11.8_o example_n both_o of_o the_o church_n in_o general_a and_o of_o the_o faithful_a in_o particular_a be_v sufficient_o know_v to_o all_o that_o know_v any_o thing_n in_o the_o scripture_n all_o which_o be_v record_v not_o to_o show_v only_o that_o the_o faithful_a have_v be_v deliver_v out_o of_o trouble_n for_o that_o be_v no_o singular_a thing_n but_o common_a for_o the_o wicked_a but_o that_o they_o be_v deliver_v in_o the_o fatherly_a love_n of_o god_n as_o appear_v by_o the_o mean_n which_o they_o use_v as_o prayer_n fast_v etc._n etc._n this_o the_o wicked_a have_v never_o nor_o always_o the_o godly_a ob._n the_o father_n have_v particular_a promise_n for_o their_o deliverance_n but_o so_o hâ—ve_v not_o we_o an._n in_o the_o main_a and_o chief_a thing_n god_n have_v speak_v as_o plain_o and_o full_o to_o we_o as_o to_o they_o we_o may_v always_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o god_n have_v a_o most_o tender_a and_o fatherly_a care_n over_o we_o and_o that_o he_o will_v show_v the_o same_o in_o the_o time_n of_o our_o need_n either_o by_o deliver_v we_o if_o he_o see_v it_o good_a and_o expedient_a or_o else_o by_o give_v we_o that_o grace_n which_o shall_v be_v sufficient_a for_o we_o the_o not_o teach_v or_o not_o believe_v of_o this_o doctrine_n cause_v much_o uncheerfulnesse_n &_o discontent_n in_o our_o trouble_n as_o grudge_v against_o god_n unlawful_a shift_a carnal_a fear_n etc._n etc._n whereas_o if_o it_o be_v otherwise_o much_o heavenly_a comfort_n may_v be_v reap_v in_o our_o life_n which_o now_o be_v want_v when_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o lay_v any_o affliction_n upon_o he_o they_o may_v assure_v themselves_o it_o be_v for_o their_o exceed_a good_a which_o persuasion_n if_o it_o be_v settle_v and_o the_o contrary_a power_n of_o carnal_a reason_n check_v and_o suppress_v we_o shall_v have_v wisdom_n to_o look_v for_o affliction_n their_o sinful_a dross_n 5_o five_o to_o wean_v they_o from_o this_o world_n if_o these_o thing_n be_v know_v and_o believe_v of_o we_o we_o shall_v find_v they_o so_o to_o our_o exceed_a comsort_n and_o though_o sometime_o in_o trial_n we_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v neglect_v or_o forget_v yet_o we_o shall_v see_v at_o length_n that_o it_o be_v nothing_o so_o ob._n if_o affliction_n shall_v turn_v to_o our_o good_a than_o we_o need_v take_v no_o further_o think_v about_o they_o answ_n that_o promise_n do_v not_o warrant_v we_o to_o be_v câ—relessâ—_n for_o if_o we_o behave_v ourselves_o wilful_o blockish_o or_o foolish_o in_o affliction_n they_o will_v turn_v to_o our_o great_a hurt_n and_o vexation_n but_o if_o we_o mingle_v that_o scripture_n with_o faith_n it_o will_v cause_v we_o to_o receive_v all_o cross_n from_o god_n as_o send_v in_o love_n not_o to_o murmur_v at_o they_o but_o thankful_o and_o patient_o and_o also_o with_o examination_n of_o ourselves_o if_o so_o be_v that_o any_o sin_n have_v bring_v evil_a upon_o we_o and_o then_o we_o shall_v have_v proof_n of_o god_n grace_n in_o we_o experience_n of_o his_o favour_n towards_o we_o preservation_n from_o many_o sin_n increase_v of_o humiliation_n and_o thankfulness_n preparation_n for_o the_o bear_n of_o great_a with_o some_o comfort_n at_o least_o in_o the_o end_n and_o hope_v in_o the_o midst_n which_o shall_v not_o make_v we_o ashamed_a when_o we_o find_v not_o this_o doctrine_n savoury_a and_o sweet_a to_o we_o nor_o the_o use_n of_o it_o in_o our_o affliction_n let_v we_o not_o charge_n or_o expect_v or_o ask_v col_n 1.9_o a_o example_n whereof_o we_o may_v see_v in_o moses_n if_o we_o compare_v his_o late_a time_n with_o his_o former_a and_o in_o the_o apostle_n this_o privilege_n if_o it_o be_v due_o consider_v add_v great_a courage_n and_o yield_v much_o comfort_n to_o god_n child_n when_o they_o shall_v know_v that_o this_o grace_n be_v offer_v they_o of_o god_n even_o that_o like_a plant_n they_o shall_v grow_v and_o increase_v in_o god_n house_n and_o as_o the_o sun_n they_o shall_v shine_v more_o and_o more_o until_o midday_n and_o howsoever_o the_o devil_n raise_v many_o occasion_n of_o faint_a slâ—th_n deadness_n of_o spirit_n and_o earthly_a mindedness_n neglect_v of_o mean_n etc._n etc._n yet_o may_v we_o not_o be_v discourage_v but_o press_v forward_o
