or_o extent_n of_o the_o mercy_n to_o save_v it_o first_o to_o speak_v of_o the_o former_a viz._n mercy_n the_o specification_n of_o the_o mercy_n the_o specification_n of_o the_o mercy_n or_o the_o mercy_n itself_o which_o be_v here_o signify_v it_o be_v divine_a protection_n and_o defence_n i_o will_v defend_v this_o city_n 1_o who_o be_v that_o namely_o god_n himself_o who_o here_o send_v this_o message_n by_o his_o prophet_n it_o be_v he_o that_o take_v this_o business_n of_o defence_n and_o protection_n upon_o he_o one_o who_o be_v able_a enough_o to_o do_v it_o and_o to_o go_v through_o with_o it_o and_o this_o city_n which_o be_v that_o namely_o jerusalem_n the_o city_n of_o god_n where_o his_o name_n and_o worship_n be_v celebrate_v that_o be_v the_o city_n which_o be_v here_o promise_v the_o benefit_n of_o god_n defence_n and_o preservation_n of_o it_o so_o that_o there_o be_v two_o thing_n here_o now_o considerable_a the_o defend_v and_o the_o defendant_n the_o defend_v that_o be_v this_o city_n the_o defendant_n that_o be_v the_o god_n of_o israel_n himself_o for_o the_o first_o defend_v the_o defend_v the_o place_n defend_v it_o be_v jerusalem_n the_o city_n of_o god_n this_o be_v that_o which_o be_v the_o object_n of_o this_o defence_n and_o which_o this_o protection_n extend_v unto_o which_z according_o show_v unto_o we_o the_o state_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o church_n in_o all_o succeed_v age_n and_o generation_n this_o promise_v it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v limit_v or_o restrain_v to_o this_o present_a time_n or_o occasion_n whereupon_o it_o be_v make_v but_o in_o the_o force_n and_o efficacy_n of_o it_o do_v reach_v to_o all_o period_n of_o time_n throughout_o the_o world_n
and_o be_v write_v even_o for_o our_o consolation_n upon_o who_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n be_v come_v that_o we_o through_o patience_n and_o comfort_n of_o the_o scripture_n may_v have_v hope_n without_o a_o fence_n it_o be_v a_o garden_n enclose_v and_o those_o place_n wherein_o it_o reside_v they_o do_v partake_v of_o special_a custody_n and_o preservation_n in_o reference_n to_o it_o person_n may_v occasional_o and_o accidental_o partake_v of_o the_o protection_n of_o the_o church_n wicked_a and_o ungodly_a man_n who_o be_v intermix_v with_o the_o people_n of_o god_n they_o do_v partake_v of_o defence_n with_o they_o and_o defence_n from_o they_o as_o curse_a cham_n from_o his_o abode_n in_o the_o ark_n but_o it_o be_v not_o they_o which_o be_v so_o much_o aim_v at_o or_o intend_v in_o this_o preservation_n no_o but_o god_n people_n themselves_o and_o the_o city_n by_o which_o his_o name_n be_v call_v on_o he_o will_v defend_v this_o city_n especial_o and_o this_o he_o will_v not_o be_v fail_v to_o it_o in_o the_o defend_n of_o it_o while_o he_o say_v he_o will_v do_v it_o he_o hereby_o signify_v his_o purpose_n about_o it_o it_o be_v not_o only_o a_o word_n of_o intimation_n but_o also_o of_o resolution_n and_o that_o peremptory_a which_o can_v be_v frustrate_v or_o disappoint_v if_o against_o this_o shall_v now_o be_v object_v answer_v a_o objection_n answer_v that_o experience_n oftentimes_o prove_v the_o contrary_a so_o that_o notwithstanding_o this_o promise_n here_o make_v and_o this_o point_n maintain_v by_o we_o there_o be_v not_o always_o this_o defence_n vouchsafe_v but_o that_o the_o people_n of_o god_n be_v for_o all_o that_o involve_v in_o sundry_a and_o frequent_a evil_n to_o this_o we_o answer_v that_o still_o the_o promise_n and_o welfare_n of_o the_o public_a be_v in_o some_o manner_n wrap_v up_o in_o they_o they_o do_v therefore_o according_o partake_v of_o the_o benefit_n and_o comfort_n of_o those_o promise_n which_o be_v make_v to_o public_a relation_n whether_o in_o church_n or_o common_a wealth_n magistrate_n in_o the_o discharge_n of_o their_o place_n and_o minister_n in_o the_o discharge_n of_o they_o the_o
