death_n for_o god_n do_v oftentimes_o exercise_v his_o saint_n with_o this_o fear_n that_o they_o may_v have_v a_o perfect_a feel_v and_o understand_v of_o the_o imbecilicie_n and_o weakness_n of_o their_o flesh_n and_o may_v be_v stir_v up_o thereby_o to_o be_v the_o more_o fervent_a in_o prayer_n to_o god_n who_o be_v more_o strong_a more_o holy_a and_o more_o mighty_a than_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o when_o he_o shall_v suffer_v death_n he_o be_v vex_v with_o so_o great_a fear_n that_o he_o tremble_v and_o bleed_v a_o bloody_a sweat_n what_o shall_v we_o say_v then_o do_v he_o not_o know_v that_o by_o this_o death_n he_o shall_v redeem_v mankind_n and_o enter_v into_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o father_n yes_o undoubted_o he_o know_v it_o what_o do_v he_o fear_v then_o he_o fear_v to_o declare_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o perfect_a man_n and_o by_o this_o fear_n to_o satisfy_v for_o man_n and_o to_o have_v the_o victory_n over_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n seem_v more_o easy_a than_o to_o call_v upon_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n for_o what_o work_n can_v be_v more_o sleight_n and_o easy_a than_o the_o tongue_n to_o speak_v and_o say_v our_o father_n which_o art_n in_o heaven_n etc_n etc_n yea_o the_o child_n and_o infant_n can_v utter_v these_o word_n but_o childish_a invocation_n be_v one_o and_o true_a and_o earnest_a invocation_n be_v another_o the_o one_o be_v most_o easy_a the_o other_o be_v most_o hard_a i_o remember_v a_o certain_a father_n say_v there_o be_v nothing_o more_o hard_a than_o to_o pray_v and_o invocate_v the_o name_n of_o god_n for_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n to_o recite_v the_o word_n of_o prayer_n but_o to_o pray_v and_o call_v true_o upon_o the_o name_n of_o god_n be_v a_o great_a work_n and_o painful_a labour_n for_o no_o man_n can_v call_v true_o upon_o god_n except_o he_o be_v first_o of_o all_o in_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n and_o reconcile_v unto_o he_o for_o how_o shall_v thou_o call_v upon_o or_o pray_v unto_o he_o who_o thou_o hate_v and_o know_v to_o be_v thine_o enemy_n for_o thou_o can_v not_o be_v in_o god_n favour_n and_o reconcile_v unto_o he_o unless_o thou_o be_v call_v to_o invocation_n of_o god_n and_o prayer_n these_o thing_n be_v set_v before_o we_o not_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v terrify_v or_o discourage_v from_o invocation_n but_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v stir_v to_o earnest_n true_a and_o fervent_a prayer_n our_o prophet_n ionas_n be_v set_v here_o for_o a_o ensample_n unto_o we_o for_o he_o be_v cast_v into_o the_o sea_n for_o his_o sin_n because_o he_o flee_v from_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o obey_v not_o his_o call_n he_o see_v therefore_o in_o the_o belly_n of_o the_o whale_n the_o wrath_n of_o god_n to_o follow_v his_o disobedience_n what_o do_v he_o therefore_o he_o begin_v to_o cry_v unto_o the_o lord_n and_o to_o call_v upon_o god_n but_o god_n be_v angry_a he_o be_v therefore_o constrain_v first_o corporal_a trouble_n do_v not_o christ_n himself_o call_v upon_o god_n the_o father_n that_o the_o cup_n of_o his_o passion_n may_v pass_v away_o from_o he_o 26._o and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o that_o hold_v of_o vain_a vanity_n will_v forsake_v his_o mercy_n by_o the_o which_o word_n the_o prophet_n make_v a_o difference_n between_o the_o thankfulness_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o the_o thankesgivinge_n of_o the_o wicked_a the_o wicked_a when_o they_o receive_v any_o benefit_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n they_o refer_v it_o to_o their_o idol_n and_o to_o their_o hypocritical_a worship_n and_o service_n the_o ethnic_n or_o heathen_a be_v deliver_v from_o a_o fever_n or_o any_o other_o disease_n run_v straight_o way_n to_o jupiter_n and_o for_o his_o health_n offer_v to_o he_o the_o offering_n and_o sacrifice_n of_o thanksgiving_n the_o hypocrite_n be_v deliver_v from_o the_o pain_n of_o tooth_n ache_v go_v to_o saint_n appoline_n to_o who_o for_o the_o ease_n receive_v he_o offer_v the_o sacrifice_n of_o thankesgivinge_v the_o monk_n be_v deliver_v from_o the_o peril_n of_o water_n make_v haste_n to_o s._n francis_n or_o to_o his_o mass_n where_o he_o yield_v the_o sacrifice_n of_o thanksgiving_n but_o what_o say_v the_o prophet_n here_o of_o such_o they_o that_o hold_v of_o vain_a thing_n say_v he_o will_v forsake_v the_o mercy_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v they_o which_o follow_v vain_a idol_n and_o hypocritical_a worship_n in_o offer_v thanks_n unto_o god_n these_o forsake_v the_o mercy_n of_o the_o lord_n which_o he_o bestow_v upon_o they_o and_o make_v themselves_o unworthy_a of_o the_o same_o but_o i_o say_v the_o prophet_n will_v do_v to_o thou_o sacrifice_n with_o the_o voice_n of_o thanksgiving_n and_o will_v perform_v that_o which_o i_o have_v vow_v for_o why_o salvation_n come_v of_o the_o lord_n that_o be_v i_o in_o offer_v the_o sacrifice_n of_o praise_n and_o thanksgiving_n will_v not_o do_v as_o the_o wicked_a and_o hypocrite_n do_v which_o worship_n god_n with_o abominable_a idol_n with_o vain_a worship_n and_o feign_a invention_n but_o i_o will_v offer_v unto_o thou_o my_o true_a god_n and_o saviour_n the_o voice_n of_o praise_n yea_o i_o will_v praise_v thy_o name_n for_o ever_o and_o will_v set_v forth_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o same_o unto_o all_o man_n i_o will_v preach_v and_o proclaim_v thy_o clemency_n and_o mercy_n so_o long_o as_o i_o live_v and_o i_o will_v pay_v my_o vow_n that_o be_v i_o will_v do_v those_o thing_n which_o i_o ought_v to_o do_v i_o will_v not_o devise_v and_o from_o deceit_n to_o true_a deal_v from_o envy_n to_o the_o love_n of_o our_o neighbour_n from_o whoredom_n to_o chastity_n &_o to_o be_v short_a from_o all_o kind_n of_o wickedness_n to_o all_o manner_n of_o virtue_n this_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o king_n commandment_n when_o he_o will_v every_o man_n to_o turn_v from_o his_o wicked_a way_n and_o this_o be_v true_a repentance_n which_o be_v always_o require_v of_o us._n 5_o furthermore_o in_o the_o commandment_n or_o proclamation_n of_o the_o king_n this_o be_v also_o add_v who_o can_v tell_v whether_o god_n will_v turn_v and_o repent_v and_o cease_v from_o his_o fierce_a wrath_n that_o we_o perish_v not_o what_o shall_v we_o say_v to_o this_o do_v the_o king_n doubt_v of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o remission_n of_o sin_n be_v we_o not_o command_v certain_o to_o believe_v and_o without_o doubt_v to_o be_v persuade_v that_o god_n for_o christ_n sake_n do_v forgive_v we_o our_o sin_n and_o to_o speak_v not_o simp_o of_o the_o remission_n of_o sin_n when_o he_o say_v who_o can_v tell_v whether_o god_n will_v turn_v and_o repent_v and_o cease_v from_o his_o fierce_a wrath_n and_o so_o forth_o but_o include_v the_o remission_n of_o punishment_n which_o ionas_n prophesy_v shall_v come_v for_o in_o the_o remission_n of_o sin_n there_o be_v common_o a_o double_a remission_n as_o the_o remission_n of_o fault_n and_o the_o remission_n of_o punishment_n by_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n the_o remission_n of_o fault_n be_v most_o certain_a and_o the_o remission_n of_o punishment_n also_o for_o christ_n be_v promise_v unto_o the_o elder_n &_o offer_v unto_o we_o to_o take_v away_o our_o sin_n &_o to_o deliver_v we_o from_o the_o eternal_a torment_n of_o hell_n fire_n wherefore_o and_o appoint_v that_o if_o they_o do_v certain_o repent_v their_o sin_n shall_v be_v remit_v and_o they_o deliver_v from_o eternal_a punishment_n yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o can_v not_o certain_o affliction_n for_o if_o god_n be_v sorry_a for_o our_o evil_a and_o harm_n even_o as_o the_o mother_n be_v sorry_a for_o her_o child_n it_o can_v be_v that_o evil_n whatsoever_o they_o be_v shall_v oppress_v we_o for_o god_n will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o perish_v in_o they_o but_o will_v make_v a_o way_n even_o in_o the_o very_a midst_n for_o we_o to_o escape_v 3_o long_a suffering_n this_o
