do_v not_o right_o understand_v what_o be_v mean_v by_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o nor_o by_o eat_v and_o drink_v damnation_n and_o for_o want_v of_o a_o right_a understanding_n of_o these_o expression_n they_o start_v from_o the_o sacrament_n as_o if_o the_o lord_n table_n be_v become_v a_o snare_n they_o be_v so_o affright_v that_o christ_n command_n signify_v nothing_o to_o they_o nor_o yet_o the_o benefit_n which_o he_o declare_v to_o his_o disciple_n they_o shall_v receive_v by_o it_o when_o they_o hear_v how_o former_a age_n frequent_v the_o sacrament_n they_o regard_v it_o not_o but_o think_v that_o they_o have_v discover_v a_o danger_n which_o their_o fore_a father_n never_o find_v out_o they_o think_v that_o they_o be_v in_o the_o sure_a way_n to_o salvation_n that_o of_o our_o bless_a and_o bountiful_a saviour_n but_o be_v oppress_v with_o fear_n and_o terror_n as_o if_o they_o suspect_v their_o come_n will_v be_v to_o their_o prejudice_n as_o for_o the_o word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d unworthy_a the_o sense_n in_o which_o we_o common_o make_v use_v of_o it_o be_v a_o good_a interpretation_n of_o the_o apostle_n meaning_n we_o do_v not_o call_v a_o corinthian_n be_v guilty_a of_o they_o come_v unreverent_o and_o disorderly_o to_o the_o sacrament_n from_o their_o love-feast_n forget_v that_o they_o be_v not_o in_o their_o own_o house_n but_o in_o god_n house_n and_o that_o they_o be_v not_o eat_v at_o their_o own_o table_n but_o at_o the_o lord_n table_n this_o be_v the_o proper_a meaning_n of_o the_o apostle_n expression_n in_o the_o next_o word_n not_o discern_v the_o lord_n body_n a_o expression_n which_o i_o have_v hear_v some_o papist_n make_v use_n of_o for_o their_o whimsy_n of_o transubstantiation_n as_o if_o they_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o who_o do_v not_o discern_v by_o faith_n that_o it_o be_v the_o very_a body_n of_o our_o saviour_n but_o most_o certain_a it_o be_v that_o the_o apostle_n have_v another_o meaning_n the_o word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d signify_v both_o to_o discriminate_a and_o to_o sanctify_v and_o so_o the_o proper_a account_n that_o can_v be_v give_v of_o it_o be_v that_o he_o who_o do_v not_o receive_v after_o a_o devout_a and_o religious_a manner_n be_v unworthy_a i_o hope_v i_o have_v say_v enough_o to_o take_v off_o the_o unnecessary_a and_o causeless_a fear_n of_o those_o who_o be_v humble_a christian_n &_o that_o they_o will_v not_o any_o long_o give_v the_o enemy_n of_o their_o salvation_n this_o advanvantage_n against_o they_o but_o that_o they_o will_v take_v right_a measure_n and_o be_v so_o far_o from_o keep_v from_o the_o sacrament_n because_o they_o think_v themselves_o unworthy_a that_o they_o will_v account_v it_o a_o good_a qualification_n for_o their_o welcome_n at_o the_o lord_n table_n let_v such_o person_n look_v into_o the_o holy_a gospel_n and_o they_o will_v find_v that_o such_o person_n as_o they_o be_v be_v not_o only_o accept_v of_o christ_n but_o high_o commend_v by_o he_o and_o therefore_o be_v the_o most_o welcome_o guest_n at_o the_o lord_n table_n the_o next_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v be_v what_o the_o apostle_n mean_v by_o eat_v and_o drink_v damnation_n which_o be_v the_o affright_a expression_n that_o make_v thousand_o afraid_a to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n the_o tremble_a sinner_n be_v afraid_a that_o this_o bring_v man_n into_o the_o condition_n of_o those_o who_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o blasphemy_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n that_o they_o have_v commit_v a_o sin_n which_o shall_v never_o be_v forgive_v they_o that_o they_o have_v receive_v unworthy_o be_v irrecoverable_o lose_v and_o ruin_v that_o they_o have_v swallow_v down_o poison_n to_o their_o soul_n and_o can_v never_o vomit_v it_o up_o again_o and_o if_o these_o be_v the_o interpretation_n that_o sinner_n make_v of_o those_o expression_n that_o it_o be_v very_o hard_a to_o say_v who_o be_v worthy_a to_o receive_v and_o yet_o if_o a_o man_n be_v a_o unworthy_a receiver_n he_o be_v from_o thenceforth_o in_o a_o state_n of_o damnation_n it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o there_o be_v so_o few_o communicant_n that_o i_o may_v therefore_o rectify_v these_o mistake_n i_o desire_v these_o thing_n may_v be_v consider_v 1._o it_o be_v not_o the_o design_n of_o the_o apostle_n by_o this_o expression_n to_o scare_v the_o wicked_a man_n among_o christian_n from_o the_o sacrament_n but_o only_o that_o they_o may_v repent_v and_o come_v to_o it_o he_o do_v not_o suppose_v that_o what_o he_o say_v he_o will_v make_v any_o afraid_a sacrament_n they_o may_v for_o the_o like_a reason_n be_v afraid_a to_o perform_v other_o duty_n of_o religion_n if_o any_o impenitent_a sinner_n pray_v to_o god_n without_o a_o resolution_n to_o sacrament_n they_o think_v that_o it_o be_v too_o great_a a_o adventure_n for_o such_o as_o they_o be_v to_o come_v to_o their_o lord_n supper_n although_o they_o be_v such_o as_o love_v he_o and_o do_v sincere_o desire_v and_o endeavour_v to_o keep_v his_o commandment_n what_o i_o have_v already_o say_v may_v give_v satisfaction_n in_o this_o case_n viz._n that_o humility_n and_o a_o sense_n of_o unworthiness_n be_v a_o good_a qualification_n for_o a_o communicant_a and_o that_o as_o the_o sacrament_n be_v a_o great_a and_o solemn_a ordinance_n so_o it_o be_v a_o very_a great_a duty_n to_o partake_v of_o it_o and_o therefore_o christian_n must_v take_v care_n that_o they_o do_v not_o compliment_v our_o saviour_n but_o that_o the_o examine_v themselves_o and_o reverent_o observe_v his_o institution_n great_a man_n do_v sometime_o allow_v of_o such_o excuse_n when_o they_o make_v invitation_n but_o the_o great_a god_n command_v when_o he_o invite_v and_o there_o can_v be_v no_o neglect_n but_o it_o be_v a_o great_a sin_n as_o i_o have_v already_o show_v but_o this_o be_v not_o the_o case_n i_o have_v now_o in_o hand_n my_o design_n be_v to_o speak_v of_o those_o who_o make_v this_o a_o pretence_n for_o their_o noncommunicating_a they_o say_v the_o sacrament_n be_v a_o solemn_a ordinance_n and_o therefore_o they_o dare_v not_o come_v to_o it_o but_o i_o will_v have_v such_o person_n to_o consider_v whither_o they_o go_v when_o they_o turn_v away_o from_o this_o solemn_a ordinance_n if_o it_o be_v to_o their_o lust_n and_o a_o continuance_n in_o a_o sinful_a course_n of_o life_n their_o condition_n be_v unspeakable_o miserable_a what_o a_o affront_n be_v this_o to_o the_o great_a god_n and_o our_o bless_a saviour_n i_o may_v say_v to_o they_o as_o the_o apostle_n to_o the_o galatian_n be_v not_o deceive_v god_n be_v not_o mock_v the_o best_a that_o can_v be_v
