what_o be_v here_o mean_v by_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o qu._n 2._o how_o and_o when_o man_n be_v say_v to_o eat_v and_o drink_v their_o own_o damnation_n qu._n 1._o what_o be_v here_o mean_v by_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o ans_fw-fr for_o answer_v whereunto_o let_v i_o premise_v that_o the_o worthiness_n here_o speak_v of_o do_v not_o consist_v in_o perfection_n or_o in_o a_o absolute_a and_o unsinning_a obedience_n to_o all_o the_o law_n of_o god._n for_o if_o we_o be_v indeed_o thus_o perfect_a we_o shall_v have_v no_o need_n or_o at_o least_o not_o so_o much_o need_v thus_o qualify_v notwithstanding_o the_o vain_a pretension_n of_o some_o enthusiastical_a catharist_n this_o certain_o be_v a_o thing_n which_o be_v not_o attainable_a in_o this_o life_n for_o all_o have_v sin_v say_v st._n paul_n rom._n 3.23_o cap._n 5.12_o there_o be_v none_o that_o do_v good_a no_o not_o one_o say_v holy_a david_n ps_n 14.3_o the_o just_a man_n fall_v seven_o time_n say_v the_o wise_a solomon_n prov._n 24.16_o and_o if_o any_o man_n say_v that_o he_o have_v no_o sin_n he_o do_v but_o deceive_v himself_o and_o the_o truth_n be_v not_o in_o he_o say_v the_o apostle_n john_n 1_o joh._n 1.8_o from_o all_o which_o scripture_n and_o many_o other_o which_o may_v be_v produce_v wherein_o the_o term_n be_v so_o general_a that_o they_o can_v but_o include_v all_o and_o every_o individual_a it_o be_v plain_a and_o evident_a that_o perfection_n do_v not_o belong_v to_o the_o present_a state_n of_o mankind_n and_o if_o so_o then_o must_v we_o conclude_v that_o the_o great_a and_o wise_a god_n and_o the_o holy_a and_o bless_a jesus_n have_v institute_v this_o feast_n in_o vain_a and_o give_v out_o a_o command_n to_o no_o purpose_n a_o table_n indeed_o may_v be_v spread_v and_o rich_o furnish_v but_o the_o room_n will_v be_v all_o empty_a for_o if_o none_o but_o those_o who_o be_v perfect_a be_v worthy_a there_o will_v none_o be_v find_v that_o be_v so_o this_o therefore_o can_v be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o apostle_n in_o this_o place_n and_o as_o the_o worthiness_n here_o speak_v of_o do_v not_o consist_v in_o perfection_n i._n e._n in_o a_o entire_a and_o unsinning_a obedience_n to_o the_o whole_a law_n of_o god_n so_o neither_o do_v the_o unworthiness_n here_o mention_v consist_v in_o imperfection_n or_o sin_n it_o be_v not_o every_o fail_n not_o every_o weakness_n nor_o every_o sin_n that_o present_o render_v man_n unworthy_a to_o be_v guest_n at_o god_n table_n for_o if_o so_o than_o all_o mankind_n will_v be_v exclude_v because_o all_o have_v sin_v as_o appeareth_z from_o the_o text_n already_o quote_v and_o consequent_o the_o table_n of_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v as_o empty_a and_o this_o great_a feast_n as_o much_o want_v guest_n upon_o this_o account_n as_o upon_o the_o other_o but_o this_o be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o apostle_n here_o that_o it_o be_v quite_o contrary_a to_o it_o for_o as_o christ_n come_v into_o the_o world_n purposely_o to_o save_v sinner_n so_o do_v he_o institute_v his_o holy_a supper_n for_o the_o sake_n of_o those_o who_o be_v liable_a to_o sin_n and_o weak_a in_o the_o faith_n that_o thereby_o they_o may_v be_v fortify_v against_o the_o one_o and_o strengthen_v in_o the_o other_o for_o any_o one_o to_o say_v then_o i_o be_o a_o sinner_n and_o therefore_o unworthy_a be_v a_o false_a consequence_n for_o it_o be_v not_o sin_n bare_o but_o a_o obstinate_a and_o impenitent_a continuance_n in_o sin_n that_o render_v any_o one_o a_o unworthy_a guest_n at_o god_n table_n as_o i_o shall_v show_v
you_o hereafter_o from_o this_o account_n of_o this_o text_n you_o see_v plain_a that_o there_o be_v some_o who_o have_v no_o pretence_n to_o perfection_n in_o this_o life_n and_o yet_o in_o god_n account_n be_v esteem_v worthy_a communicant_o and_o of_o such_o a_o one_o i_o shall_v give_v you_o this_o short_a character_n which_o may_v serve_v as_o a_o test_n to_o try_v your_o own_o ignorant_a what_o it_o be_v or_o if_o in_o some_o measure_n know_v yet_o be_v they_o willing_a to_o put_v a_o slight_a and_o contempt_n upon_o it_o the_o former_a of_o these_o be_v indeed_o the_o more_o pityable_a but_o neither_o the_o one_o nor_o the_o other_o be_v excusable_a both_o of_o they_o in_o st._n paul_n sense_n may_v be_v true_o say_v to_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o the_o one_o their_o own_o between_o this_o great_a and_o holy_a feast_n and_o a_o common_a and_o ordinary_a meal_n and_o repast_n this_o be_v that_o for_o which_o st._n paul_n reprove_v the_o church_n of_o corinth_n 1_o cor._n 11._o v._n 20_o 21_o 22._o saying_n when_o you_o come_v together_o into_o one_o place_n this_o be_v not_o to_o eat_v the_o lord_n supper_n for_o in_o eat_v every_o one_o take_v before_o other_o his_o own_o supper_n and_o one_o his_o hungry_a and_o another_o be_v drunken_a what_o have_v you_o not_o house_n to_o eat_v and_o drink_v in_o or_o despise_v you_o the_o church_n of_o passover_n be_v sacrifice_v for_o we_o and_o that_o we_o be_v now_o invite_v to_o a_o feast_n upon_o that_o sacrifice_n we_o can_v but_o reflect_v upon_o the_o just_a anger_n and_o indignation_n of_o god_n against_o sin_n we_o can_v but_o observe_v that_o such_o be_v the_o severity_n of_o divine_a justice_n and_o the_o heinousness_n of_o sin_n that_o no_o reconciliation_n can_v be_v make_v between_o god_n and_o sinner_n till_o the_o punishment_n due_a to_o sin_n be_v suffer_v so_o high_o be_v god_n incense_v so_o great_a be_v his_o wrath_n just_o conceive_v against_o sin_n that_o he_o
