need_v therefore_o be_v a_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n in_o the_o use_n of_o it_o second_o consider_v this_o that_o there_o be_v no_o duty_n in_o all_o the_o book_n of_o god_n that_o i_o know_v of_o that_o be_v urge_v with_o more_o strength_n and_o severity_n than_o this_o be_v as_o that_o place_n in_o 1_o cor._n 11._o show_v where_o you_o have_v require_v of_o every_o one_o that_o come_v to_o guilt_n of_o blood_n lie_v upon_o he_o but_o to_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n who_o blood_n be_v ten_o thousand_o thousand_o time_n more_o worth_a than_o the_o blood_n of_o all_o the_o man_n that_o ever_o live_v upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n must_v needs_o be_v a_o most_o dreadful_a thing_n it_o be_v a_o fearful_a expression_n guilty_a of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n that_o be_v he_o offer_v such_o a_o indignity_n to_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n as_o the_o lord_n will_v charge_v he_o of_o be_v guilty_a of_o it_o guilty_a of_o abuse_v of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o then_o he_o do_v eat_v and_o drink_v his_o own_o damnation_n but_o we_o shall_v speak_v more_o to_o that_o when_o we_o come_v to_o show_v how_o god_n will_v sanctify_v his_o name_n in_o those_o that_o do_v not_o sanctify_v it_o here_o in_o this_o holy_a ordinance_n i_o will_v not_o therefore_o spend_v further_a time_n in_o those_o scripture_n for_o i_o bring_v they_o only_o now_o to_o show_v that_o there_o be_v a_o necessity_n of_o it_o that_o we_o do_v sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o this_o ordinance_n three_o there_o of_o christ_n yet_o god_n have_v put_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o honour_n upon_o this_o ordinance_n that_o man_n that_o be_v very_o wicked_a otherwise_o yet_o their_o conscience_n tell_v they_o that_o when_o they_o come_v to_o this_o ordinance_n than_o they_o must_v be_v good_a than_o they_o must_v not_o sin_n but_o have_v good_a thought_n and_o good_a prayer_n at_o that_o time_n and_o many_o time_n they_o dare_v not_o come_v if_o their_o conscience_n tell_v they_o that_o they_o live_v in_o some_o sin_n i_o know_v one_o myself_o once_o that_o be_v to_o be_v execute_v and_o he_o have_v be_v loath_a to_o leave_v and_o therefore_o will_v never_o come_v to_o that_o ordinance_n all_o his_o life_n though_o herein_o the_o devil_n gull_v and_o deceive_v he_o but_o i_o mention_v it_o to_o show_v what_o a_o power_n there_o be_v in_o the_o conscience_n of_o man_n about_o this_o ordinance_n this_o ordinary_o be_v one_o of_o the_o first_o thing_n that_o strike_v upon_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n when_o they_o come_v to_o have_v their_o conscience_n awaken_v oh_o how_o have_v i_o profane_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o the_o ordinance_n of_o the_o holy_a communion_n and_o have_v not_o sanctify_v his_o name_n in_o it_o that_o god_n shall_v be_v sanctify_v in_o this_o ordinance_n that_o be_v clear_a enough_o but_o now_o the_o great_a work_n be_v which_o be_v the_o three_o thing_n that_o i_o promise_v to_o show_v how_o we_o shall_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o this_o ordinance_n certain_o the_o name_n of_o god_n have_v be_v much_o take_v in_o vain_a there_o have_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o pollution_n in_o the_o use_n of_o this_o ordinance_n and_o in_o man_n spirit_n when_o they_o have_v be_v exercise_v themselves_o in_o such_o a_o holy_a ordinance_n as_o this_o be_v therefore_o i_o will_v open_v this_o to_o you_o and_o shall_v not_o be_v very_o large_a in_o it_o only_o to_o show_v you_o the_o main_a and_o principal_a thing_n that_o may_v serve_v for_o the_o direction_n of_o we_o that_o the_o name_n of_o god_n may_v not_o be_v so_o take_v in_o vain_a and_o dishonour_v as_o heretofore_o and_o i_o shall_v cast_v what_o i_o intend_v to_o speak_v of_o into_o these_o particular_n 1_o that_o whosoever_o be_v to_o partake_v of_o this_o must_v be_v holy_a himself_o none_o can_v sanctify_v god_n but_o he_o must_v have_v a_o sanctify_a heart_n himself_o infinite_a need_n of_o he_o and_o the_o infinite_a excellency_n that_o there_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n my_o soul_n do_v famish_v and_o perish_v for_o ever_o without_o christ_n but_o in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o christ_n there_o be_v a_o fullness_n for_o the_o satisfy_n of_o my_o soul_n that_o i_o have_v have_v of_o christ_n sometime_o in_o the_o word_n and_o sometime_o in_o prayer_n that_o have_v be_v sweet_a unto_o i_o but_o i_o expect_v a_o further_a communion_n of_o christ_n here_o for_o this_o be_v the_o grand_a ordinance_n for_o communion_n with_o jesus_n christ_n in_o deed_n the_o word_n in_o this_o respect_n it_o be_v beyond_o this_o ordinance_n that_o be_v it_o be_v not_o only_o for_o the_o increase_n of_o grace_n but_o for_o the_o beget_n this_o be_v only_o for_o the_o increase_n of_o grace_n and_o not_o appoint_v for_o the_o beget_n now_o in_o that_o respect_n the_o word_n be_v above_o the_o sacrament_n but_o now_o this_o sacrament_n be_v a_o more_o full_a only_o they_o come_v and_o take_v a_o little_a piece_n of_o bread_n and_o a_o draught_n of_o wine_n but_o for_o any_o strong_a pause_v desire_n to_o meet_v with_o jesus_n christ_n there_o in_o the_o ordinance_n to_o come_v so_o as_o they_o know_v not_o how_o to_o live_v without_o christ_n even_o as_o a_o man_n that_o be_v a_o hunger_v
and_o with_o a_o holy_a cheerfulness_n with_o a_o holy_a freedom_n of_o spirit_n not_o in_o a_o sullen_a way_n but_o as_o a_o child_n in_o the_o presence_n of_o his_o father_n and_o not_o as_o a_o servant_n with_o the_o master_n object_n you_o tell_v we_o before_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v brokennesse_n of_o spirit_n and_o sense_n of_o our_o sin_n answ_n that_o may_v be_v and_o joy_n we_o a_o particular_a person_n as_o i_o must_v not_o withdraw_v from_o a_o particular_a man_n where_o there_o be_v hope_n still_o of_o his_o reformation_n and_o that_o there_o may_v come_v good_a of_o my_o forbearance_n so_o towards_o a_o church_n much_o more_o but_o i_o say_v if_o i_o can_v enjoy_v neither_o do_v there_o appear_v any_o hope_n of_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o all_o ordinance_n certain_o it_o from_o one_o place_n to_o another_o if_o he_o can_v have_v better_a trade_n in_o another_o place_n then_o certain_o if_o he_o may_v have_v more_o ordinance_n for_o the_o edification_n of_o his_o other_o what_o do_v all_o thy_o part_n commend_v thou_o to_o god_n thou_o have_v ability_n in_o express_v of_o thyself_o in_o prayer_n why_o do_v thy_o part_n commend_v thou_o to_o god_n what_o ever_o be_v natural_a in_o any_o of_o our_o duty_n be_v nothing_o to_o god_n only_o that_o which_o be_v from_o his_o own_o spirit_n and_o therefore_o thou_o shall_v come_v in_o thy_o own_o thought_n as_o vile_a as_o if_o thou_o have_v no_o part_n and_o ability_n at_o all_o lay_v aside_o all_o such_o apprehension_n of_o thyself_o for_o the_o truth_n be_v some_o poor_a break_a heart_a sinner_n that_o can_v but_o sigh_v out_o a_o few_o groan_n to_o god_n and_o be_v not_o able_a to_o speak_v two_o or_o three_o sentence_n together_o in_o a_o right_a language_n but_o only_a breath_n out_o his_o soul_n heart_n puff_v up_o even_o through_o the_o assistance_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n 5_o last_o thou_o must_v come_v with_o a_o humble_a resignation_n of_o thyself_o to_o god_n to_o be_v content_a to_o wait_v upon_o god_n as_o long_o as_o he_o please_v to_o waiâ—_n upon_o god_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o time_n and_o of_o the_o measure_n and_o of_o the_o manner_n of_o the_o communication_n of_o himself_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o mean_n by_o which_o he_o will_v please_v to_o communicate_v himself_o wait_v upon_o he_o let_v i_o have_v mercy_n though_o at_o the_o last_o hour_n this_o now_o be_v a_o humble_a heart_n in_o prayer_n and_o when_o we_o come_v with_o such_o a_o poverty_n of_o spirit_n as_o this_o be_v we_o may_v expect_v that_o the_o lord_n will_v accept_v of_o we_o give_v this_o poor_a man_n some_o what_o will_v god_n say_v this_o poor_a man_n cry_v and_o the_o lord_n hear_v he_o in_o the_o seven_o place_n we_o must_v bring_v that_o which_o be_v god_n own_o in_o sanctify_a god_n name_v i_o speak_v to_o this_o before_o in_o the_o point_n of_o preparation_n viz._n that_o in_o god_n worship_n we_o must_v give_v he_o his_o own_o i_o will_v only_o mention_v it_o here_o in_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n in_o two_o regard_n 1_o first_o to_o give_v god_n his_o own_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o it_o 2_o second_o to_o you_o be_v not_o in_o trouble_n and_o fear_n than_o it_o put_v not_o on_o the_o heart_n to_o performance_n of_o duty_n but_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n put_v on_o the_o soul_n to_o duty_n when_o there_o be_v most_o peace_n and_o comfort_n 6_o a_o little_a will_v serve_v the_o turn_n to_o satisfy_v a_o natural_a conscience_n so_o be_v it_o they_o perform_v the_o duty_n it_o be_v enough_o but_o one_o that_o be_v act_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o duty_n must_v meet_v with_o much_o of_o god_n or_o else_o he_o be_v not_o satisfy_v he_o go_v mourn_v in_o the_o day_n time_n if_o he_o have_v not_o meet_v with_o much_o of_o god_n in_o the_o morning_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n thus_o you_o see_v there_o be_v much_o difference_n between_o the_o act_n of_o natural_a part_n and_o conscience_n in_o duty_n and_o the_o act_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n there_o be_v only_o now_o two_o thing_n more_o for_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n in_o duty_n and_o then_o we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o show_v how_o we_o shall_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o duty_n in_o reference_n to_o the_o several_a attribute_n of_o god_n but_o first_o for_o those_o two_o head_n further_o 8_o the_o eight_o thing_n be_v this_o when_o you_o come_v to_o perform_v holy_a duty_n if_o you_o will_v sanctify_v god_n name_n you_o must_v consecrate_v yourselves_o to_o god_n there_o must_v be_v a_o resignation_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n estate_n and_o liberty_n name_n and_o all_o you_o be_v have_v or_o can_v do_v unto_o god_n this_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n the_o consecration_n of_o yourselves_o too_o god_n and_o the_o profess_v of_o this_o in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n when_o you_o be_v to_o pray_v be_v a_o very_a good_a thing_n actual_o to_o profess_v yourselves_o to_o be_v god_n to_o profess_v that_o you_o do_v give_v up_o all_o that_o you_o be_v have_v or_o can_v do_v to_o god_n lord_n i_o be_o thy_o servant_n take_v all_o faculty_n of_o soul_n and_o member_n of_o body_n and_o improve_v all_o lay_v out_o all_o to_o thy_o own_o praise_n to_o the_o uttermost_a to_o bring_v glory_n to_o thy_o great_a name_n if_o every_o time_n you_o come_v to_o god_n in_o prayer_n you_o do_v this_o this_o be_v to_o sanctify_v yourselves_o to_o god_n i_o speak_v before_o of_o a_o sanctify_a heart_n but_o now_o this_o be_v in_o a_o profession_n of_o yourselves_o to_o god_n do_v it_o secret_o at_o least_o in_o your_o own_o thought_n if_o you_o do_v not_o every_o time_n express_v it_o in_o word_n yet_o in_o your_o own_o thought_n do_v it_o devote_v yourselves_o to_o god_n every_o day_n of_o admirable_a use_n it_o will_v be_v if_o every_o day_n when_o man_n and_o woman_n worship_n god_n either_o in_o their_o closert_n or_o family_n they_o do_v profess_o devote_v and_o consecrate_v themselves_o to_o god_n and_o so_o likewise_o every_o time_n they_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n or_o to_o receive_v sacrament_n god_n will_v account_v his_o name_n to_o be_v sanctify_v in_o such_o a_o work_n as_o this_o be_v 9_o last_o that_o that_o must_v make_v all_o up_o and_o without_o which_o all_o the_o other_o be_v nothing_o it_o be_v that_o you_o must_v tender_v up_o all_o your_o worship_n in_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n christ_n let_v a_o man_n or_o woman_n worship_n god_n never_o so_o well_o yet_o when_o they_o have_v do_v all_o if_o they_o do_v not_o the_o incense_n he_o be_v to_o put_v the_o incense_n on_o the_o fire_n before_o the_o lord_n that_o the_o cloud_n of_o the_o incense_n may_v cover_v the_o mercy_n seat_n that_o be_v upon_o the_o upon_o he_o and_o so_o must_v be_v accept_v by_o the_o father_n and_o as_o we_o read_v in_o judg._n 13._o 20._o when_o manoah_n offer_v a_o sacrifice_n the_o text_n say_v that_o the_o angel_n of_o worship_v he_o to_o think_v thus_o let_v i_o look_v to_o it_o to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n now_o for_o i_o hear_v that_o god_n will_v sanctify_v it_o himself_o if_o i_o do_v not_o do_v it_o but_o then_o on_o the_o other_o side_n if_o so_o be_v that_o thou_o make_v conscience_n of_o sanctify_a god_n name_n in_o duty_n than_o he_o will_v sanctify_v his_o name_n in_o a_o way_n of_o mercy_n that_o suitable_a unto_o you_o for_o those_o that_o come_v to_o hear_v so_o soon_o in_o a_o morning_n and_o be_v willing_a even_o in_o hard_a weather_n to_o come_v out_o of_o their_o bed_n they_o give_v some_o good_a testimony_n that_o they_o do_v desire_n to_o honour_n god_n in_o their_o hear_n and_o to_o get_v good_a by_o their_o hear_n and_o it_o be_v pity_v that_o labour_n and_o pain_n shall_v be_v bestow_v and_o no_o profit_n but_o hurt_n rather_o get_v by_o it_o which_o god_n forbid_v therefore_o now_o i_o be_o to_o speak_v to_o a_o point_n that_o may_v help_v you_o so_o to_o hear_v as_o so_o all_o the_o week_n after_o they_o hold_v forth_o the_o word_n of_o god_n you_o that_o be_v servant_n it_o may_v be_v your_o master_n be_v naught_o and_o the_o family_n naught_o from_o whence_o you_o that_o be_v hearer_n of_o the_o word_n will_v glorify_v the_o word_n and_o glorify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o the_o word_n oh_o that_o not_o one_o of_o you_o will_v be_v a_o disgrace_n or_o shame_n to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n this_o be_v the_o charge_n that_o god_n this_o morning_n lay_v upon_o you_o as_o ever_o you_o expect_v to_o receive_v any_o good_a from_o the_o word_n or_o to_o look_v upon_o the_o face_n of_o god_n with_o comfort_n who_o word_n this_o be_v do_v not_o be_v a_o shame_n to_o his_o word_n and_o to_o the_o minister_n of_o his_o word_n put_v all_o these_o thing_n together_o i_o say_v and_o learn_v to_o make_v conscience_n of_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o hear_v the_o word_n that_o so_o there_o may_v be_v none_o of_o you_o that_o may_v give_v any_o just_a come_v nigh_o i_o now_o follow_v the_o reason_n why_o god_n stand_v so_o much_o 1645._o upon_o it_o that_o he_o will_v have_v his_o name_n sanctify_v in_o this_o ordinance_n of_o hear_v his_o word_n 1_o first_o it_o be_v because_o there_o be_v so_o much_o of_o god_n in_o his_o word_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v sanctify_v god_n name_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a there_o can_v be_v sin_n in_o heaven_n that_o sin_n will_v be_v great_a than_o sin_n commit_v here_o therefore_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o angel_n when_o they_o be_v in_o god_n presence_n in_o a_o more_o especial_a manner_n be_v the_o great_a the_o name_n of_o god_n be_v in_o any_o thing_n the_o great_a will_v be_v the_o evil_a if_o we_o do_v not_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o it_o now_o there_o be_v very_o much_o of_o god_n there_o be_v therefore_o so_o much_o of_o god_n in_o his_o word_n we_o must_v sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o it_o 2_o second_o god_n have_v appoint_v his_o word_n to_o be_v the_o great_a ordinance_n to_o convey_v the_o special_a mercy_n that_o he_o intend_v for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o people_n that_o we_o speak_v to_o before_o in_o the_o general_a in_o show_v how_o the_o duty_n of_o sacrament_n and_o yet_o every_o one_o think_v in_o conscience_n that_o he_o be_v bind_v to_o come_v careful_o to_o the_o sacrament_n and_o to_o look_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n there_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n to_o convince_v man_n and_o woman_n that_o they_o be_v bind_v to_o sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o god_n when_o they_o come_v to_o receive_v the_o holy_a communion_n then_o for_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n they_o think_v not_o so_o much_o of_o that_o but_o certain_o the_o word_n be_v appoint_v to_o be_v a_o ordinance_n of_o convey_v more_o blessing_n than_o the_o sacrament_n because_o it_o be_v appoint_v to_o convey_v the_o first_o grace_n and_o to_o convey_v strength_n of_o grace_n as_o well_o as_o the_o sacrament_n now_o be_v appoint_v to_o convey_v such_o great_a thing_n to_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o elect_a both_o the_o first_o grace_n and_o strengthen_n of_o grace_n and_o comfort_n and_o assistance_n thereof_o the_o lord_n expect_v to_o have_v his_o name_n sanctify_v in_o it_o 3_o three_o the_o name_n of_o god_n must_v be_v sanctify_v in_o the_o word_n because_o the_o word_n be_v very_o quick_a and_o lively_a it_o work_v man_n or_o woman_n to_o life_n or_o death_n to_o salvation_n or_o damnation_n in_o heb._n 4._o 12._o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v quick_a and_o powerful_a and_o sharp_a than_o any_o two_o edge_a sword_n pierce_v even_o to_o the_o divide_v asunder_o of_o soul_n and_o spirit_n etc._n etc._n it_o be_v very_o quick_a of_o operation_n the_o text_n say_v that_o be_v when_o god_n have_v to_o deal_v with_o man_n by_o his_o word_n he_o will_v not_o stand_v dally_v and_o trifle_v with_o they_o but_o he_o be_v very_o quick_a with_o they_o either_o to_o bring_v their_o soul_n to_o life_n or_o to_o cast_v they_o away_o the_o time_n of_o man_n ignorance_n god_n wink_v at_o but_o now_o he_o call_v all_o man_n to_o repent_v let_v they_o look_v to_o it_o now_o god_n do_v forbear_v in_o the_o time_n of_o ignorance_n but_o he_o will_v not_o forbear_v so_o when_o the_o word_n come_v now_o be_v the_o axe_n lay_v to_o the_o root_n of_o the_o tree_n and_o when_o be_v that_o when_o john_n baptist_n come_v to_o preach_v repentance_n because_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n be_v at_o hand_n though_o the_o tree_n be_v barren_a before_o and_o do_v not_o bring_v forth_o good_a fruit_n yet_o it_o may_v stand_v still_o and_o not_o be_v cut_v down_o but_o when_o the_o powerful_a ministration_n of_o the_o word_n come_v than_o the_o axe_n be_v lay_v to_o the_o root_n of_o the_o tree_n either_o now_o come_v in_o and_o be_v save_v or_o resist_v the_o word_n and_o perish_v and_o therefore_o that_o be_v very_o observable_a when_o christ_n send_v out_o his_o disciple_n to_o preach_v in_o mark_n 16._o 15_o 16._o say_v he_o go_v you_o into_o all_o the_o world_n and_o preach_v the_o gospel_n to_o every_o creature_n and_o he_o that_o believe_v and_o be_v baptise_a shall_v be_v save_v but_o he_o that_o believe_v not_o read_v and_o hear_v such_o thing_n in_o the_o word_n that_o if_o i_o be_v but_o sure_o that_o these_o thing_n be_v my_o portion_n how_o happy_a shall_v i_o be_v here_o be_v one_o sign_n by_o which_o thy_o heart_n that_o be_v the_o word_n of_o faith_n which_o we_o preach_v the_o text_n have_v some_o difficulty_n and_o yet_o exceed_o sweet_a to_o we_o to_o know_v it_o i_o confess_v if_o the_o apostle_n paul_n have_v not_o quote_v this_o place_n out_o of_o deut._n and_o thus_o interpret_v it_o who_o can_v ever_o have_v think_v in_o read_v of_o deut._n that_o by_o the_o one_o have_v be_v mean_v the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n and_o by_o the_o other_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n therefore_o the_o meaning_n be_v this_o here_o be_v a_o comparison_n between_o the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n concern_v the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n there_o be_v two_o thing_n wherein_o that_o come_v short_a of_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n first_o it_o be_v not_o so_o nigh_o thou_o second_o it_o be_v not_o so_o certain_a to_o assure_v thy_o soul_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o thou_o to_o all_o eternity_n the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n say_v who_o shall_v ascend_v into_o heaven_n etc._n etc._n but_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v nigh_o thou_o even_o in_o thy_o mouth_n and_o in_o thy_o heart_n you_o will_v say_v why_o be_v not_o the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n as_o nigh_o one_o as_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n i_o answer_v the_o word_n of_o the_o law_n you_o hear_v it_o in_o your_o ear_n but_o it_o be_v not_o write_v in_o the_o heart_n as_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v the_o law_n can_v work_v saving_o upon_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n to_o bring_v salvation_n those_o that_o be_v mere_o legal_a they_o can_v hear_v the_o duty_n that_o be_v require_v but_o that_o word_n have_v no_o power_n to_o write_v in_o their_o heart_n what_o they_o do_v hear_v but_o now_o when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o be_v nigh_o you_o even_o in_o your_o very_a heart_n as_o well_o as_o in_o your_o ear_n god_n speak_v in_o it_o and_o it_o come_v into_o your_o heart_n and_o there_o it_o work_v efficacious_o which_o the_o law_n can_v the_o law_n be_v but_o as_o a_o dead_a letter_n in_o comparison_n of_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n if_o you_o come_v mere_o to_o hear_v the_o law_n preach_v and_o not_o in_o a_o evangellicall_a way_n you_o may_v hear_v it_o a_o hundred_o time_n and_o it_o will_v never_o be_v write_v in_o your_o heart_n but_o when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o gospel_n in_o a_o evangellicall_a way_n that_o will_v come_v to_o be_v write_v in_o your_o heart_n so_o that_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v nigh_o you_o but_o what_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o other_o say_v not_o who_o shall_v ascend_v up_o into_o heaven_n &_o c_o the_o meaning_n be_v this_o as_o if_o the_o apostle_n shall_v say_v the_o truth_n be_v while_o you_o have_v no_o other_o but_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n you_o be_v at_o a_o infinite_a uncertainty_n about_o your_o eternal_a estate_n the_o law_n say_v do_v and_o live_v but_o you_o can_v never_o know_v when_o you_o have_v do_v enough_o so_o as_o to_o be_v certain_a that_o you_o be_v well_o for_o eternity_n that_o say_v who_o shall_v ascend_v into_o heaven_n to_o know_v the_o mind_n of_o god_n concern_v i_o whether_o he_o will_v accept_v of_o i_o and_o of_o that_o obedience_n and_o worship_n that_o i_o tender_v up_o to_o he_o who_o shall_v go_v down_o into_o the_o deep_a who_o shall_v go_v down_o to_o hell_n to_o know_v there_o whether_o that_o place_n be_v prepare_v for_o he_o or_o not_o it_o be_v a_o phrase_n that_o only_o express_v a_o uncertainty_n that_o one_o can_v be_v satisfy_v about_o his_o eternal_a estate_n except_o he_o can_v go_v to_o heaven_n and_o there_o see_v and_o read_v god_n book_n and_o so_o discover_v god_n mind_n concern_v he_o or_o go_v down_o to_o hell_n and_o so_o know_v whether_o that_o place_n be_v appoint_v for_o he_o or_o not_o except_o i_o can_v do_v one_o of_o these_o i_o can_v not_o certain_o tell_v mere_o by_o the_o law_n whether_o i_o shall_v go_v to_o heaven_n or_o hell_n as_o you_o that_o be_v merchant_n and_o dealer_n abroad_o you_o be_v at_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o uncertainty_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o your_o estate_n indeed_o if_o i_o can_v send_v one_o over_o to_o the_o indies_n to_o tell_v i_o how_o my_o ship_n prosper_v than_o i_o can_v be_v at_o a_o certainty_n than_o i_o shall_v hear_v whether_o i_o be_v a_o rich_a man_n yea_o or_o no_o but_o except_o i_o can_v do_v such_o a_o thing_n i_o be_o at_o a_o uncertainty_n such_o be_v the_o expression_n here_o as_o if_o a_o poor_a soul_n shall_v say_v i_o will_v fain_o be_v save_v and_o loath_a to_o perish_v eternal_o but_o all_o the_o while_n the_o soul_n remain_v under_o the_o law_n it_o remain_v in_o a_o uncertain_a condition_n but_o now_o say_v he_o the_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v nigh_o thou_o even_o in_o thy_o heart_n and_o that_o be_v the_o word_n that_o we_o preach_v that_o say_v rom._n 10._o 9_o if_o thou_o shall_v confess_v with_o thy_o mouth_n the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o shall_v believe_v in_o thy_o heart_n that_o god_n have_v raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a thou_o shall_v be_v save_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v this_o word_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o we_o find_v in_o scripture_n that_o the_o church_n have_v always_o wicked_a man_n among_o they_o there_o be_v always_o tare_n grow_v up_o with_o the_o wheat_n if_o you_o read_v even_o in_o the_o corinthian_n you_o shall_v find_v that_o there_o be_v some_o in_o that_o church_n that_o be_v wicked_a yea_o and_o its_o thought_n that_o judas_n himself_o do_v receive_v the_o sacrament_n too_o if_o we_o be_v in_o a_o place_n where_o either_o this_o congregation_n will_v not_o take_v upon_o they_o any_o such_o power_n to_o cast_v out_o unworthy_a one_o or_o be_v not_o convince_v of_o this_o power_n than_o there_o be_v no_o rule_n that_o christ_n have_v set_v that_o we_o must_v be_v force_v all_o our_o day_n to_o continue_v to_o be_v in_o such_o a_o congregation_n as_o deny_v one_o of_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n and_o not_o come_v with_o faith_n that_o have_v only_o the_o eye_n of_o their_o body_n they_o only_o see_v as_o it_o be_v a_o paint_a christ_n they_o do_v not_o see_v christ_n real_o his_o body_n and_o blood_n and_o those_o great_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v not_o present_v as_o real_a thing_n to_o their_o soul_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o they_o go_v have_v not_o reveal_v it_o we_o have_v not_o be_v bind_v to_o it_o therefore_o in_o these_o duty_n of_o institution_n god_n stand_v very_o punctual_a upon_o they_o we_o must_v be_v very_o exact_a neither_o to_o err_v on_o the_o right_a hand_n nor_o the_o left_a to_o make_v any_o alteration_n in_o the_o point_n of_o institution_n now_o therefore_o for_o the_o institution_n of_o this_o sacrament_n we_o find_v it_o in_o divers_a of_o the_o evangelist_n in_o matth._n 26._o 26._o there_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o christ_n and_o his_o disciple_n they_o eat_v the_o sacrament_n
