be_v now_o for_o this_o we_o must_v know_v that_o this_o be_v a_o very_a great_a mistake_n in_o they_o and_o it_o be_v contradict_v by_o this_o present_a text_n before_o we_o him_n that_o come_v i_o will_v in_o no_o wise_a cast_v out_o when_o the_o promise_n be_v make_v to_o the_o come_n not_o to_o the_o preparation_n he_o that_o be_v so_o far_o humble_v as_o to_o come_v he_o shall_v find_v by_o he_o a_o willingness_n to_o leave_v our_o sin_n and_o to_o close_v with_o christ_n upon_o his_o own_o condition_n where_o these_o thing_n be_v real_o and_o in_o good_a earnest_n wrought_v in_o we_o we_o need_v not_o much_o to_o trouble_v ourselves_o about_o any_o thing_n else_o this_o be_v that_o which_o undo_v many_o people_n in_o this_o particular_a in_o that_o they_o think_v to_o be_v alas_o this_o be_v not_o the_o matter_n nor_o that_o which_o god_n do_v so_o much_o look_v at_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o pardon_v any_o sin_n because_o it_o be_v small_a but_o because_o he_o delight_v in_o pardon_n and_o because_o ercy_n please_v he_o mic._n 7.18_o no_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o pardon_v any_o sin_n because_o he_o have_v so_o much_o forrow_n and_o grief_n and_o trouble_v of_o be_v to_o speak_v and_o hold_v those_o thing_n which_o be_v contradictory_n the_o one_o to_o the_o other_o look_v how_o far_o any_o man_n do_v favour_n and_o allow_v himself_o in_o any_o evil_a course_n so_o far_o do_v he_o withdraw_v from_o christ_n and_o do_v forbear_v to_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o so_o in_o conclusion_n do_v expose_v himself_o to_o eternal_a ruin_n the_o great_a cause_n in_o this_o present_a text_n to_o come_v to_o christ_n and_o desire_v he_o to_o rule_v they_o to_o cast_v off_o those_o sinful_a affection_n and_o defy_v and_o complacency_n which_o be_v in_o they_o conception_n they_o be_v with_o delight_n and_o so_o be_v man_n device_n and_o contrivance_n they_o be_v for_o the_o most_o part_n very_o please_v and_o satisfactory_a to_o they_o and_o they_o take_v much_o contentment_n in_o they_o man_n be_v usual_o very_o much_o take_v and_o in_o love_n with_o their_o own_o device_n though_o never_o so_o fond_a and_o irregular_a which_o because_o their_o design_n and_o contrivance_n of_o man_n of_o every_o man_n of_o the_o best_a man_n that_o be_v some_o way_n or_o other_o this_o be_v first_o of_o all_o ground_n of_o very_a deep_a and_o serious_a abasement_n and_o humiliation_n to_o the_o son_n of_o man_n especial_o consider_v how_o the_o case_n some_o time_n be_v with_o they_o before_o this_o fall_n that_o place_n of_o the_o father_n can_v never_o be_v often_o enough_o repeat_v by_o we_o as_o so_o pat_o and_o fit_a to_o our_o purpose_n god_n make_v man_n righteous_a but_o they_o err_v it_o be_v a_o great_a piece_n of_o reproach_n matter_n of_o goodness_n god_n accept_v of_o the_o will_n for_o the_o deed_n and_o regard_v the_o very_a desire_n of_o his_o servant_n towards_o that_o which_o be_v their_o duty_n though_o they_o may_v be_v kindred_n and_o prevent_v of_o performance_n as_o david_n when_o he_o will_v build_v god_n a_o house_n though_o he_o have_v not_o a_o opportunity_n for_o it_o yet_o the_o lord_n tell_v he_o this_o that_o he_o do_v well_o that_o it_o be_v in_o his_o heart_n even_o so_o on_o the_o contrary_a in_o evil_a god_n account_v of_o the_o purpose_n for_o the_o commission_n when_o there_o be_v but_o together_o what_o can_v be_v more_o vile_a or_o abominable_a first_o there_o be_v a_o trespass_n upon_o god_n in_o his_o majesty_n there_o be_v irreverence_n and_o contempt_n of_o he_o that_o be_v most_o clear_a and_o evident_a the_o high_a apprehension_n that_o man_n have_v of_o any_o one_o person_n the_o more_o regardful_a be_v they_o of_o their_o carriage_n when_o they_o come_v before_o he_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v come_v into_o the_o presence_n of_o a_o prince_n and_o carry_v himself_o rude_o before_o he_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n he_o have_v no_o very_a great_a thought_n or_o esteem_v of_o that_o any_o thing_n will_v serve_v his_o turn_n they_o think_v to_o flatter_v he_o and_o to_o satisfy_v he_o with_o some_o fair_a pretence_n and_o that_o be_v all_o they_o think_v that_o he_o do_v not_o see_v and_o take_v notice_n of_o that_o naughtiness_n which_o be_v in_o they_o all_o this_o while_n they_o think_v he_o approve_v of_o it_o and_o so_o make_v he_o a_o partaker_n with_o themselves_o and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n in_o such_o case_n he_o do_v common_o deal_v with_o they_o upon_o this_o point_n by_o show_v they_o that_o they_o be_v exceed_o mistake_v in_o so_o to_o question_v his_o wisdom_n if_o they_o think_v he_o can_v be_v satisfy_v with_o it_o shall_v i_o accept_v this_o at_o your_o hand_n no_o say_v god_n i_o will_v not_o it_o be_v a_o great_a mistake_n to_o conceive_v it_o i_o be_o a_o great_a king_n say_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n etc._n etc._n therefore_o second_o as_o here_o be_v a_o hint_n and_o intimation_n of_o great_a sin_n in_o a_o stomach_n that_o be_v foul_a it_o destroy_v it_o but_o in_o a_o stomach_n that_o be_v clean_o it_o nourish_v it_o so_o the_o ordinance_n when_o man_n come_v to_o they_o with_o good_a affection_n they_o strengthen_v their_o grace_n but_o when_o they_o come_v with_o deceitful_a heart_n they_o increase_v their_o corruption_n second_o temporal_a judgement_n in_o sickness_n
dispensation_n towards_o the_o son_n of_o man_n and_o especial_o to_o his_o own_o people_n we_o have_v here_o intimate_v to_o we_o in_o this_o passage_n that_o care_n which_o god_n take_v of_o his_o church_n which_o he_o sometime_o call_v his_o vineyard_n to_o provide_v all_o thing_n necessary_a for_o it_o especial_o as_o be_v essential_a to_o it_o and_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o itself_o mean_n of_o illumination_n and_o instruction_n and_o mean_n of_o fructification_n and_o increase_n and_o oftentimes_o do_v wonderful_o work_v in_o his_o providence_n for_o it_o keep_v it_o and_o defend_v it_o from_o enemy_n and_o preserve_v it_o from_o outward_a danger_n and_o destruction_n that_o so_o this_o expression_n in_o the_o text_n may_v be_v in_o a_o manner_n all_o one_o with_o faith_n as_o it_o be_v root_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o be_v a_o receive_n and_o embrace_v of_o christ_n now_o it_o be_v not_o the_o former_a but_o the_o latter_a which_o be_v here_o chief_o intend_v the_o papist_n that_o they_o may_v from_o hence_o prove_v that_o their_o church_n can_v err_v which_o they_o will_v never_o evince_v from_o this_o text_n they_o carry_v this_o faith_n altogether_o to_o a_o faith_n of_o doctrine_n and_o so_o will_v infer_v that_o peter_n as_o the_o head_n of_o the_o church_n shall_v be_v infallible_a but_o beside_o the_o silliness_n of_o the_o inference_n they_o be_v much_o mistake_v in_o the_o ground_n and_o supposition_n for_o the_o faith_n which_o our_o saviour_n here_o speak_v of_o it_o be_v a_o faith_n of_o principle_n a_o save_v justify_v renew_v and_o regenerate_a faith_n whereby_o we_o be_v unite_v to_o christ_n as_o member_n of_o his_o mystical_a body_n this_o be_v that_o which_o our_o saviour_n here_o pray_v for_o peter_n that_o it_o shall_v not_o fail_v in_o he_o indeed_o it_o have_v a_o truth_n likewise_o of_o the_o other_o so_o far_o forth_o as_o it_o be_v include_v those_o which_o be_v bear_v again_o as_o they_o be_v acquaint_v with_o all_o necessary_a truth_n which_o god_n spirit_n do_v lead_v they_o into_o so_o they_o be_v likewise_o by_o the_o same_o gracious_a spirit_n preserve_v in_o it_o but_o that_o which_o be_v main_o here_o intend_v be_v that_o faith_n which_o lay_v hold_v upon_o christ_n which_o though_o not_o exclude_v the_o former_a be_v more_o especial_o the_o faith_n of_o god_n elect_n tit._n 1.9_o and_o so_o behaviour_n towards_o we_o as_o according_a to_o outward_a appearance_n but_o judge_n of_o he_o by_o his_o nature_n and_o sweet_a disposition_n and_o judge_v of_o he_o by_o his_o promise_n and_o gracious_a intimation_n and_o discovery_n of_o himself_o
christ_n which_o be_v the_o great_a knowledge_n we_o have_v persuasion_n for_o those_o which_o be_v young_a man_n and_o we_o have_v persuasion_n also_o for_o those_o which_o be_v old_a as_o the_o
