better_a and_o to_o do_v otherwise_o afterward_o as_o if_o they_o will_v make_v amends_o for_o what_o be_v do_v before_o but_o you_o must_v know_v that_o this_o be_v a_o mere_a deceit_n and_o will_v not_o satisfy_v you_o must_v come_v to_o i_o say_v christ_n you_o must_v come_v to_o christ_n and_o believe_v in_o he_o or_o otherwise_o all_o that_o you_o can_v do_v will_v never_o make_v amends_o you_o will_v say_v if_o we_o can_v make_v amends_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o it_o be_v true_a if_o there_o be_v not_o a_o saviour_n a_o christ_n our_o condition_n be_v sad_a certain_o amends_o must_v be_v make_v but_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o ever_o you_o can_v make_v amends_o and_o this_o you_o must_v think_v of_o you_o must_v not_o only_o think_v of_o what_o you_o be_v bind_v to_o do_v for_o the_o time_n that_o be_v to_o come_v but_o how_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o law_n shall_v be_v make_v up_o for_o that_o which_o be_v past_a &_o when_o the_o sinner_n come_v to_o think_v of_o these_o two_o together_o i_o have_v thus_o sin_v lord_n what_o shall_v i_o do_v for_o time_n to_o come_v i_o &_o what_o shall_v i_o do_v to_o make_v up_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o law_n for_o that_o which_o be_v past_a this_o will_v burden_v the_o soul_n and_o the_o soul_n will_v feel_v upon_o this_o such_o a_o burden_n that_o nothing_o in_o the_o world_n can_v give_v it_o rest_v tell_v it_o come_v to_o christ_n if_o we_o do_v apprehend_v this_o we_o will_v see_v that_o our_o condition_n out_o of_o christ_n be_v a_o restless_a condition_n and_o this_o invitation_n of_o christ_n will_v be_v very_o acceptable_a now_o because_o i_o be_v loath_a to_o tell_v you_o of_o rest_n before_o i_o have_v open_v a_o little_a this_o burden_n for_o otherwise_o you_o may_v say_v as_o those_o jew_n do_v to_o christ_n in_o a_o other_o case_n when_o christ_n tell_v they_o if_o the_o son_n make_v they_o free_a they_o shall_v be_v free_a indeed_o why_o say_v they_o be_v we_o bind_v to_o any_o man_n it_o be_v in_o john_n 8.32_o why_o do_v you_o talk_v of_o freedom_n to_o we_o if_o i_o shall_v have_v go_v on_o in_o the_o invitation_n come_v to_o i_o and_o i_o will_v give_v you_o rest_v come_v to_o not_o be_v make_v amends_o for_o so_o it_o will_v not_o accept_v of_o repentance_n let_v the_o sinner_n be_v never_o so_o sorrowful_a for_o what_o he_o have_v do_v and_o lament_v his_o sin_n never_o so_o much_o if_o he_o can_v bewail_v his_o sin_n with_o tear_n of_o blood_n the_o law_n will_v not_o accept_v of_o this_o you_o will_v say_v this_o be_v a_o strange_a doctrine_n that_o our_o repentance_n shall_v not_o be_v accept_v of_o i_o do_v not_o say_v absolute_o that_o god_n will_v accept_v of_o no_o repentance_n but_o i_o say_v that_o the_o law_n will_v accept_v of_o no_o repentance_n repentance_n be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o law_n preach_v no_o such_o doctrine_n as_o the_o doctrine_n of_o repentance_n it_o be_v a_o evangelical_a doctrine_n but_o now_o repentance_n that_o be_v mere_o trouble_v of_o conscience_n that_o i_o see_v myself_o in_o such_o danger_n of_o the_o law_n this_o may_v be_v a_o natural_a repentance_n and_o not_o evangelical_a that_o be_v i_o see_v i_o have_v undo_v myself_o by_o reason_n of_o my_o sin_n and_o now_o be_o trouble_v and_o so_o go_v no_o further_o i_o say_v this_o be_v a_o natural_a repentance_n and_o not_o evangelical_a when_o you_o do_v think_v of_o repent_v of_o your_o sin_n this_o be_v a_o save_a meditation_n for_o you_o to_o think_v of_o your_o repentance_n thus_o i_o be_o now_o sorry_a and_o repent_v and_o be_o humble_v for_o my_o sin_n i_o but_o this_o be_v through_o a_o second_o covenant_n through_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n that_o this_o can_v be_v accept_v it_o be_v infinite_a mercy_n in_o god_n and_o that_o in_o christ_n it_o be_v purchase_v by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n that_o any_o sorrow_n for_o any_o sin_n shall_v ever_o be_v accept_v of_o god_n you_o must_v thank_v christ_n for_o that_o and_o therefore_o when_o you_o come_v to_o the_o work_n of_o mourning_n for_o sin_n you_o shall_v come_v to_o it_o as_o a_o work_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o a_o evangelical_a work_n and_o so_o come_v free_o to_o it_o for_o that_o which_o be_v a_o work_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v a_o fruit_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n and_o it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n of_o god_n their_o repentance_n perhaps_o when_o they_o lie_v upon_o their_o sick_a or_o death_n bed_n their_o conscience_n tell_v they_o that_o there_o be_v a_o hell_n and_o misery_n for_o sinner_n and_o there_o they_o lie_v roar_v and_o cry_v out_o but_o the_o truth_n be_v they_o never_o understand_v the_o way_n of_o god_n in_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o how_o the_o lord_n have_v look_v upon_o the_o child_n of_o man_n under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o now_o have_v enter_v into_o a_o second_o covenant_n through_o his_o son_n and_o there_o have_v provide_v a_o way_n for_o their_o salvation_n which_o can_v not_o be_v in_o the_o other_o covenant_n we_o be_v to_o know_v that_o the_o law_n do_v accept_v of_o no_o repentance_n now_o o_o what_o a_o bondage_n be_v this_o that_o when_o i_o be_o sorrowful_a for_o my_o sin_n and_o think_v that_o god_n will_v pardon_v i_o than_o i_o be_o curse_v by_o such_o a_o law_n that_o will_v accept_v of_o no_o repentance_n but_o when_o we_o come_v to_o christ_n there_o godly_a sorrow_n be_v accept_v of_o and_o it_o be_v say_v to_o be_v sorrow_n unto_o life_n but_o that_o be_v the_o privilege_n of_o those_o that_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n in_o christ_n therefore_o consider_v serious_o of_o this_o point_n that_o you_o may_v make_v a_o difference_n between_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n i_o know_v nothing_o in_o all_o divinity_n that_o be_v great_a for_o you_o to_o understand_v then_o these_o two_o thing_n and_o those_o people_n that_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o these_o two_o covenant_n they_o understand_v but_o little_a in_o those_o mystery_n of_o religion_n that_o may_v bring_v salvation_n i_o say_v little_a or_o nothing_o of_o true_a divinity_n be_v understand_v by_o people_n that_o do_v not_o understand_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o first_o and_o the_o second_o covenant_n between_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o right_a understanding_n of_o the_o difference_n between_o these_o two_o will_v let_v in_o abundance_n of_o knowledge_n i_o dare_v undertake_v that_o after_o people_n come_v to_o have_v the_o understanding_n of_o these_o two_o and_o to_o know_v the_o difference_n of_o they_o in_o one_o quarter_n of_o a_o year_n they_o will_v come_v to_o have_v let_v into_o their_o heart_n more_o knowledge_n in_o the_o main_a principle_n of_o religion_n than_o they_o have_v in_o many_o year_n before_o and_o for_o want_v of_o know_v this_o one_o thing_n people_n do_v most_o gross_o mistake_v in_o abundance_n of_o point_n of_o religion_n and_o never_o come_v to_o understand_v and_o to_o know_v christ_n at_o all_o in_o that_o way_n that_o be_v propound_v in_o the_o gospel_n and_o that_o be_v the_o eight_o thing_n nine_o in_o the_o nine_o place_n the_o burden_n of_o the_o law_n appear_v in_o this_o that_o it_o only_o open_v to_o man_n his_o misery_n and_o there_o leave_v he_o lie_v now_o he_o that_o be_v the_o lawgiver_n be_v thy_o redeemer_n thou_o come_v now_o to_o receiv_v the_o law_n from_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o mediator_n &_o here_o indeed_o be_v the_o principle_n ease_n and_o rest_n of_o a_o gracious_a heart_n to_o the_o mind_n of_o a_o saint_n a_o believer_n that_o now_o he_o come_v to_o receive_v the_o law_n from_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o mediator_n there_o be_v many_o that_o speak_v of_o deliverance_n from_o the_o law_n as_o it_o come_v by_o moses_n but_o if_o we_o understand_v thing_n aright_o we_o have_v no_o such_o cause_n to_o think_v that_o necessary_a to_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o law_n as_o it_o come_v by_o moses_n in_o one_o sense_n that_o be_v thus_o moses_n be_v a_o type_n of_o christ_n as_o a_o mediator_n for_o so_o he_o be_v call_v a_o mediator_n in_o gal._n 3.19_o it_o be_v ordain_v by_o angel_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o mediator_n god_n make_v use_n of_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o angel_n in_o deliver_v the_o law_n of_o christ_n who_o be_v their_o mediator_n and_o as_o i_o show_v before_o who_o be_v their_o advocate_n for_o so_o he_o be_v call_v in_o scripture_n that_o now_o they_o shall_v receive_v the_o law_n by_o his_o hand_n that_o be_v at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o father_n to_o be_v their_o advocate_n to_o plead_v for_o they_o when_o they_o shall_v through_o infirmity_n break_v the_o law_n this_o be_v a_o mighty_a rest_n to_o the_o soul_n therefore_o believer_n be_v to_o look_v upon_o the_o law_n come_v from_o god_n but_o come_v from_o god_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o mediator_n to_o look_v upon_o their_o mediator_n as_o indeed_o their_o lawgiver_n not_o only_o hand_v the_o law_n to_o they_o as_o moses_n do_v but_o the_o truth_n be_v the_o lawgiver_n himself_o christ_n the_o soul_n if_o it_o understand_v this_o aright_o three_o in_o christ_n now_o thy_o condition_n be_v such_o that_o though_o there_o be_v never_o so_o many_o imperfection_n never_o so_o many_o weakness_n yea_o strong_a corruption_n yet_o if_o there_o be_v but_o the_o least_o spiritual_a good_a the_o least_o work_n of_o god_n grace_n in_o thou_o the_o lord_n have_v a_o special_a eye_n to_o that_o little_a good_a that_o there_o be_v in_o thou_o and_o all_o thy_o corruption_n all_o thy_o imperfection_n shall_v not_o hinder_v the_o acceptation_n of_o the_o little_a spark_n of_o good_a that_o be_v thing_n that_o be_v in_o they_o now_o the_o lord_n have_v regard_n to_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a be_v it_o never_o so_o small_a yea_o and_o he_o will_v find_v it_o out_o too_o perhaps_o thy_o grace_n may_v be_v so_o small_a that_o it_o may_v be_v bury_v in_o the_o heâ—â—_n of_o corruption_n that_o thou_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o find_v it_o out_o the_o condition_n of_o some_o christian_n be_v as_o a_o maid_n that_o shall_v go_v in_o the_o morning_n to_o the_o hearth_n and_o there_o rake_v up_o and_o down_o in_o the_o ash_n to_o see_v if_o she_o can_v find_v some_o spark_n of_o fire_n and_o she_o find_v none_o and_o be_v ready_a to_o think_v there_o be_v none_o there_o but_o perhaps_o there_o may_v some_o spark_n lie_v in_o a_o corner_n though_o she_o find_v it_o not_o so_o it_o be_v here_o corruption_n in_o the_o heart_n be_v like_o the_o ash_n and_o grace_n be_v like_o some_o spark_n that_o lie_v in_o a_o corner_n and_o when_o poor_a soul_n go_v to_o examine_v their_o heart_n they_o see_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o ash_n a_o great_a deal_n of_o corruption_n and_o be_v ready_a to_o conclude_v the_o fire_n be_v out_o no_o spark_n there_o i_o but_o though_o rhou_fw-mi can_v not_o find_v a_o spark_n there_o yet_o be_v in_o christ_n god_n will_v find_v it_o when_o thou_o can_v not_o thyself_o if_o there_o be_v any_o that_o lie_v in_o any_o corner_n as_o we_o hope_v there_o be_v some_o spark_n in_o many_o though_o there_o be_v so_o much_o corruption_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o many_o godly_a people_n that_o we_o wonder_v where_o their_o grace_n lie_v so_o much_o passion_n frowardness_n and_o the_o like_a well_o be_v it_o indeed_o that_o these_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n under_o the_o law_n that_o corruption_n that_o do_v appear_v in_o they_o will_v cause_v all_o to_o be_v cast_v off_o whatever_o may_v lie_v secret_o in_o their_o heart_n god_n will_v cast_v it_o off_o but_o now_o if_o they_o be_v such_o as_o be_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o lord_n have_v bring_v they_o to_o christ_n this_o be_v the_o rest_n and_o ease_n for_o their_o soul_n that_o all_o the_o corruption_n that_o be_v in_o they_o shall_v not_o hinder_v the_o acceptation_n of_o the_o least_o spark_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n that_o the_o lord_n have_v wrought_v in_o they_o four_o as_o the_o lord_n will_v find_v out_o every_o spark_n of_o good_a that_o be_v in_o they_o so_o even_o their_o desire_n and_o endeavour_n after_o the_o will_n of_o god_n though_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o attain_v to_o what_o they_o will_v it_o shall_v be_v accept_v as_o the_o deed_n the_o other_o be_v suppose_v you_o do_v not_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n yet_o if_o there_o be_v any_o habit_n any_o disposition_n any_o principle_n of_o grace_n though_o nothing_o be_v do_v though_o they_o can_v perceive_v any_o begin_n of_o it_o yet_o that_o shall_v be_v accept_v but_o this_o be_v further_a let_v they_o but_o strive_v to_o do_v god_n will_v let_v they_o labour_n after_o perfection_n and_o the_o lord_n accept_v the_o will_n for_o the_o deed_n hence_o in_o scripture_n those_o that_o be_v godly_a be_v call_v perfect_a as_o many_o as_o be_v perfect_a and_o be_v you_o perfect_a as_o your_o heavenly_a father_n be_v perfect_a quest_n you_o will_v say_v can_v we_o be_v perfect_a in_o this_o world_n answ_n no_o but_o this_o be_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o the_o gospel_n that_o those_o that_o come_v to_o christ_n the_o lord_n accept_v the_o will_n for_o the_o deed_n here_o be_v bless_a ease_n and_o rest_v shall_v say_v then_o what_o need_v we_o regard_v what_o we_o do_v if_o any_o shall_v say_v so_o we_o need_v go_v no_o further_o with_o this_o man_n but_o say_v unto_o he_o thou_o have_v no_o part_n nor_o portion_n in_o this_o thing_n thou_o have_v no_o part_n in_o the_o deliverance_n from_o the_o law_n by_o christ_n shall_v we_o sin_v because_o grace_n abound_v god_n forbid_v the_o lord_n world_n to_o come_v off_o from_o it_o and_o it_o be_v that_o make_v the_o work_n of_o faith_n the_o most_o difficult_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n because_o it_o carry_v the_o soul_n out_o of_o itself_o from_o its_o own_o bottom_n from_o its_o own_o principle_n and_o the_o mistake_n of_o this_o thing_n be_v that_o that_o be_v the_o undo_n of_o thousand_o of_o those_o that_o live_v under_o the_o sound_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o when_o they_o have_v somewhat_o reform_v their_o life_n and_o think_v they_o be_v able_a to_o do_v thus_o and_o thus_o yet_o here_o they_o rest_n and_o go_v more_o desire_n then_o to_o have_v somewhat_o some_o stock_n of_o himself_o to_o live_v upon_o and_o indeed_o herein_o man_n come_v to_o be_v more_o humble_a than_o adam_n in_o innocency_n can_v be_v for_o adam_n have_v a_o stock_n to_o live_v upon_o in_o his_o own_o hand_n to_o live_v upon_o in_o himself_o not_o but_o god_n be_v the_o principle_n of_o it_o but_o then_o god_n give_v it_o he_o to_o live_v upon_o the_o stock_n of_o grace_n he_o have_v in_o his_o own_o hand_n but_o now_o in_o the_o second_o adam_n the_o way_n of_o god_n towards_o we_o be_v otherwise_o the_o second_o adam_n keep_v the_o stock_n of_o life_n and_o grace_n upon_o which_o our_o soul_n must_v live_v eternal_o in_o his_o own_o hand_n i_o say_v they_o be_v in_o christ_n hand_n not_o in_o ourselves_o and_o therefore_o our_o life_n be_v a_o better_a and_o safe_a life_n then_o that_o be_v and_o thereby_o we_o can_v fall_v from_o god_n because_o we_o live_v by_o the_o principle_n of_o life_n that_o be_v in_o he_o it_o be_v a_o great_a mystery_n and_o almost_o impossible_a to_o unfold_v only_o some_o glimmer_n we_o have_v in_o the_o word_n that_o this_o be_v so_o 7._o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o require_v but_o to_o come_v than_o another_o consequence_n will_v follow_v from_o hence_o and_o that_o be_v this_o hence_o then_o believer_n that_o come_v to_o christ_n may_v learn_v this_o lesson_n to_o be_v willing_a to_o do_v and_o to_o suffer_v very_o much_o for_o christ_n after_o they_o come_v because_o there_o be_v nothing_o require_v of_o they_o to_o the_o pardon_n of_o their_o sin_n but_o only_o to_o come_v i_o strengthen_v the_o inference_n thus_o if_o god_n have_v say_v thus_o indeed_o i_o have_v send_v a_o mediator_n to_o pacify_v my_o wrath_n and_o to_o pardon_v your_o sin_n and_o before_o you_o come_v to_o rest_n i_o require_v that_o you_o shall_v suffer_v so_o many_o hundred_o year_n of_o torment_n in_o fire_n and_o that_o shall_v be_v a_o preparation_n to_o come_v and_o then_o after_o you_o have_v suffer_v so_o much_o than_o you_o shall_v come_v and_o have_v rest_n suppose_v this_o have_v be_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o covenant_n now_o have_v it_o be_v so_o we_o have_v all_o have_v cause_n to_o have_v fall_v upon_o our_o face_n and_o have_v blessed_v his_o great_a name_n that_o we_o can_v have_v peace_n on_o any_o term_n and_o we_o shall_v have_v be_v not_o only_o willing_a to_o accept_v of_o these_o term_n but_o to_o magnify_v god_n grace_n that_o we_o can_v be_v thus_o save_v at_o last_o but_o the_o lord_n have_v not_o require_v that_o first_o we_o shall_v suffer_v such_o and_o such_o hard_a thing_n and_o then_o come_v to_o christ_n but_o he_o call_v upon_o we_o first_o to_o come_v and_o require_v nothing_o before_o and_o therefore_o before_o we_o be_v able_a to_o do_v the_o lord_n any_o service_n the_o lord_n will_v first_o accept_v of_o we_o and_o pardon_v we_o and_o heal_v we_o and_o interest_n we_o in_o himself_o and_o be_v our_o god_n and_o of_o go_v to_o christ_n and_o so_o you_o may_v soon_o come_v to_o have_v rest_v that_o way_n than_o by_o think_v thus_o i_o know_v not_o whether_o my_o evidence_n be_v right_a or_o no_o and_o i_o have_v need_n look_v to_o they_o and_o therefore_o i_o have_v need_v to_o look_v whether_o my_o humiliation_n be_v right_a and_o my_o sanctification_n be_v right_a or_o no._n i_o say_v the_o renew_v the_o act_n of_o thy_o faith_n in_o come_v to_o christ_n will_v bring_v rest_n soon_o and_o safe_a rest_n and_o therefore_o thou_o shall_v come_v to_o see_v thy_o sanctification_n better_o too_o by_o rest_n unto_o his_o soul_n you_o will_v say_v what_o shall_v we_o do_v then_o first_o take_v heed_n that_o there_o be_v no_o secret_a sin_n abide_v in_o your_o spirit_n you_o have_v need_n examine_v and_o look_v to_o that_o for_o that_o will_v be_v a_o thorn_n in_o the_o flesh_n that_o will_v trouble_v you_o if_o there_o be_v any_o secret_a sin_n thou_o live_v in_o it_o will_v be_v as_o a_o thorn_n in_o the_o flesh_n that_o thou_o can_v not_o be_v quiet_a second_o another_o thing_n that_o will_v hinder_v the_o rest_n of_o believer_n be_v that_o because_o they_o have_v not_o so_o much_o nothing_o at_o al._n now_o take_v heed_n of_o that_o though_o thou_o have_v not_o all_o yet_o take_v notice_n of_o what_o god_n have_v do_v for_o thou_o and_o be_v thankful_a for_o that_o we_o read_v
