the_o lord_n jesus_n it_o be_v a_o work_n of_o great_a weight_n it_o be_v a_o work_n not_o of_o ordinary_a but_o of_o marvellous_a and_o admirable_a difficulty_n if_o it_o be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n only_o if_o nothing_o else_o can_v do_v this_o work_n but_o it_o lie_v upon_o god_n alone_o almighty_a power_n if_o all_o mean_n fail_v nay_o if_o the_o wisdom_n of_o man_n &_o angel_n stand_v aghast_a &_o amaze_v at_o this_o work_n than_o i_o must_v conclude_v it_o be_v the_o lord_n work_v and_o be_v aught_o to_o be_v marvellous_a in_o our_o eye_n and_o from_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o it_o be_v a_o marvellous_a wonder_n that_o any_o creature_n that_o be_v under_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n and_o satan_n it_o be_v a_o wonder_n it_o be_v a_o miracle_n that_o after_o all_o teach_n after_o all_o mean_v use_v any_o soul_n be_v humble_v and_o prepare_v to_o receive_v mercy_n from_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n nay_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o we_o see_v little_a profit_n come_v from_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n when_o we_o see_v the_o greatness_n of_o this_o work_n of_o conversion_n we_o may_v wonder_v how_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o any_o be_v convert_v and_o bring_v home_o unto_o the_o lord_n the_o minister_n be_v fain_o to_o lift_v up_o their_o voice_n like_o trumpet_n and_o spend_v their_o heart_n as_o it_o be_v they_o pray_v again_o and_o fast_o again_o and_o preach_v again_o and_o yet_o all_o will_v not_o d_o you_o for_o when_o be_v the_o heart_n of_o any_o humble_v when_o be_v the_o soul_n of_o any_o turn_v and_o convert_v unto_o god_n and_o therefore_o away_o with_o that_o curse_a delusion_n that_o harbour_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o many_o man_n they_o will_v repent_v and_o they_o will_v believe_v when_o they_o listen_v why_o alas_o it_o be_v not_o in_o your_o power_n it_o be_v the_o almighty_a work_n of_o god_n thou_o have_v not_o the_o work_n of_o repentance_n to_o command_v at_o thy_o pleasure_n it_o be_v not_o talk_v and_o say_v i_o do_v repent_v with_o all_o my_o heart_n and_o do_v believe_v that_o will_v serve_v the_o turn_n this_o will_v not_o do_v the_o lord_n must_v work_v effectual_o in_o thy_o soul_n by_o his_o almighty_a power_n or_o else_o the_o union_n that_o be_v between_o sin_n and_o thy_o soul_n will_v not_o be_v dissolve_v or_o else_o the_o strength_n of_o sin_n and_o power_n of_o satan_n that_o be_v in_o thy_o soul_n will_v never_o be_v vanquish_v or_o else_o the_o resistance_n that_o be_v in_o thy_o soul_n and_o which_o come_v from_o this_o strength_n against_o the_o blow_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o all_o mean_n that_o may_v fit_v it_o and_o prepare_v it_o for_o to_o receive_v the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o mercy_n from_o he_o will_v never_o be_v remove_v a_o man_n shall_v sometime_o find_v that_o the_o indisposition_n of_o his_o soul_n to_o any_o good_a shall_v be_v a_o little_a abate_v by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o word_n the_o edge_n of_o it_o will_v a_o little_a be_v blunt_v but_o profession_n that_o can_v pluck_v sin_n out_o of_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n in_o this_o kind_n but_o it_o must_v be_v the_o almighty_a power_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o must_v do_v it_o the_o second_o use_n be_v a_o ground_n of_o comfort_n whereby_o the_o soul_n of_o poor_a sinner_n may_v be_v support_v and_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o that_o have_v sin_n hung_v about_o they_o may_v be_v cheer_v when_o the_o soul_n consider_v that_o it_o be_v lade_v with_o abundance_n of_o corruption_n and_o abomination_n than_o it_o be_v quite_o discourage_v and_o think_v with_o all_o that_o it_o shall_v never_o be_v recover_v
why_o though_o you_o be_v not_o able_a yet_o here_o be_v the_o comfort_n of_o a_o poor_a foul_a the_o work_n be_v the_o lord_n and_o he_o who_o work_n it_o be_v be_v able_a to_o bring_v it_o to_o pass_v what_o though_o thou_o be_v weak_a yet_o god_n be_v strong_a and_o therefore_o quiet_a thy_o soul_n and_o content_a thy_o heart_n a_o man_n may_v say_v i_o have_v a_o hard_a heart_n from_o within_o and_o it_o will_v receive_v no_o good_a from_o without_o the_o word_n prevail_v not_o the_o sacrament_n have_v no_o power_n over_o i_o why_o all_o the_o mean_n and_o cost_n and_o charge_n that_o god_n have_v bestow_v upon_o i_o be_v lose_v and_o my_o heart_n be_v not_o yet_o humble_v my_o corruption_n be_v not_o yet_o weaken_v be_v yet_o comfort_v though_o mean_n can_v do_v it_o which_o god_n use_v at_o his_o pleasure_n though_o these_o can_v do_v it_o yet_o the_o lord_n can_v do_v it_o there_o be_v nothing_o hard_a or_o difficult_a to_o he_o that_o have_v hardness_n itself_o at_o command_n he_o be_v a_o god_n which_o have_v all_o thing_n at_o command_n he_o can_v command_v the_o devil_n himself_o and_o therefore_o he_o have_v the_o hardness_n of_o thy_o heart_n at_o command_n also_o there_o be_v nothing_o hard_a to_o he_o that_o have_v hardness_n at_o his_o command_n nay_o though_o all_o thing_n be_v impossible_a to_o man_n yet_o nothing_o be_v impossible_a with_o god_n god_n can_v do_v what_o man_n not_o mean_n can_v the_o lord_n he_o show_v mercy_n upon_o we_o why_o because_o we_o will_v no_o because_o he_o will_v and_o though_o we_o can_v cast_v away_o our_o sin_n yet_o the_o lord_n will_v remove_v they_o oh_o then_o say_v the_o soul_n this_o be_v somewhat_o comfortable_a that_o the_o lord_n mercy_n depend_v not_o upon_o my_o will_n but_o upon_o god_n will_n and_o i_o will_v tell_v you_o somewhat_o by_o experience_n in_o this_o kind_n for_o i_o know_v one_o that_o be_v over_o whelm_v with_o despair_n a_o whole_a year_n together_o because_o he_o think_v he_o have_v commit_v the_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o yet_o at_o last_o be_v comfort_v by_o this_o mean_n he_o refolve_v with_o himself_o if_o my_o conversion_n be_v in_o my_o will_n only_o than_o i_o shall_v be_v damn_v but_o it_o be_v not_o because_o i_o will_v but_o because_o god_n will_v do_v good_a to_o my_o poor_a soul_n aye_o but_o the_o soul_n will_v say_v i_o confess_v it_o be_v not_o in_o my_o will_n but_o it_o be_v in_o god_n will_n that_o he_o show_v mercy_n and_o this_o be_v some_o comfort_n yet_o but_o oh_o my_o corruption_n be_v old_a sin_n of_o a_o long_a time_n can_v those_o be_v pardon_v they_o be_v become_v as_o another_o nature_n in_o i_o can_v those_o therefore_o be_v remove_v yes_o the_o lord_n be_v able_a to_o remove_v those_o also_o for_o say_v the_o prophet_n the_o lord_n have_v lay_v salvation_n upon_o the_o mighty_a so_o that_o though_o thy_o corruption_n be_v mighty_a and_o powerful_a yet_o there_o be_v a_o mighty_a god_n that_o be_v able_a to_o undo_v that_o curse_a combination_n that_o be_v between_o thy_o soul_n and_o thy_o corruption_n and_o therefore_o quiet_a thyself_o in_o the_o consideration_n hereof_o and_o say_v i_o must_v confess_v that_o i_o have_v many_o corruption_n but_o the_o mighty_a lord_n of_o host_n have_v promise_v that_o he_o will_v take_v away_o my_o stony_a heart_n and_o give_v i_o have_v our_o custom_n if_o a_o man_n shall_v set_v up_o a_o bill_n upon_o the_o market_n post_n that_o he_o will_v cure_v all_o that_o come_v to_o he_o which_o be_v trouble_v with_o the_o stone_n in_o the_o reins_n or_o any_o other_o grievous_a disease_n and_o if_o we_o shall_v meet_v with_o many_o come_n from_o he_o that_o be_v heal_v by_o he_o why_o then_o we_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o say_v such_o a_o one_o go_v and_o he_o be_v heal_v such_o a_o one_o go_v and_o he_o be_v cure_v and_o this_o will_v stir_v up_o all_o to_o repair_v unto_o he_o and_o every_o one_o will_v bring_v those_o that_o appertain_v unto_o they_o and_o be_v trouble_v with_o this_o disease_n unto_o he_o that_o they_o may_v be_v cure_v by_o he_o the_o lord_n have_v set_v up_o a_o bill_n this_o day_n that_o he_o will_v cure_v all_o those_o that_o come_v unto_o he_o of_o their_o stony_a heart_n and_o all_o the_o son_n of_o god_n have_v find_v proof_n hereof_o to_o the_o comfort_n of_o their_o own_o soul_n text_n say_v in_o the_o three_o of_o matthew_n that_o all_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o bring_v their_o sick_a that_o he_o may_v heal_v they_o in_o the_o bowel_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n be_v entreat_v you_o that_o have_v stony_a heart_n to_o go_v unto_o the_o lord_n that_o so_o you_o may_v be_v cure_v you_o be_v better_o have_v a_o millstone_n about_o your_o neck_n then_o have_v this_o stony_a heart_n we_o have_v all_o of_o we_o this_o stony_a heart_n more_o or_o less_o as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o man_n that_o have_v be_v cure_v of_o a_o disease_n perhaps_o the_o disease_n be_v much_o mitigate_v but_o there_o will_v still_o be_v much_o weakness_n and_o some_o relic_n of_o the_o disease_n remain_v in_o he_o a_o long_a time_n after_o so_o the_o son_n of_o god_n have_v the_o strength_n of_o this_o stony_a heart_n somewhat_o lessen_v and_o abate_v in_o they_o but_o they_o be_v not_o altogether_o free_v from_o it_o but_o those_o that_o be_v never_o cure_v of_o this_o disease_n those_o that_o never_o have_v this_o stony_a heart_n in_o any_o measure_n remove_v they_o be_v better_o have_v a_o millstone_n about_o their_o neck_n for_o it_o will_v sink_v they_o into_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n of_o hell_n and_o destruction_n if_o death_n take_v they_o away_o while_o they_o carry_v this_o stony_a heart_n about_o they_o they_o will_v be_v sure_o damn_v therefore_o
