goodness_n when_o it_o be_v only_o in_o show_n and_o not_o in_o reality_n prove_v ordinary_o a_o great_a snare_n and_o neck-break_a to_o they_o as_o hide_v the_o sight_n of_o their_o deserve_n from_o hold_v out_o here_o 3._o penitent_n be_v instrumental_a to_o draw_v down_o blessing_n on_o themselves_o and_o on_o what_o they_o enjoy_v for_o now_o the_o mourn_a land_n ch_z 1.10_o and_o the_o cry_a terror_n to_o the_o wicked_a for_o it_o be_v for_o these_o cause_v it_o get_v this_o name_n verse_n 32._o and_o it_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o whosoever_o shall_v call_v on_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v deliver_v for_o in_o mount_n zion_n and_o in_o jerusalem_n shall_v be_v deliverance_n as_o the_o lord_n have_v say_v and_o in_o the_o remnant_n who_o the_o lord_n shall_v call_v to_o confirm_v the_o godly_a against_o these_o calamity_n he_o subjoin_v the_o three_o spiritual_a promise_n which_o be_v that_o all_o true_a israelite_n and_o convert_v of_o the_o gentile_n who_o cleave_v to_o god_n and_o worship_n he_o sincere_o shall_v find_v deliverance_n by_o preservation_n under_o trouble_n till_o they_o come_v to_o full_a deliverance_n and_o salvation_n at_o last_o this_o he_o confirm_v in_o a_o general_a promise_n that_o of_o the_o jew_n and_o gentile_n call_v of_o god_n there_o shall_v be_v deliverance_n according_a to_o god_n promise_n or_o some_o remnant_n to_o escape_v to_o preserve_v a_o people_n to_o god_n upon_o earth_n and_o at_o last_o to_o inherit_v salvation_n doct._n 1._o be_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o visible_a church_n or_o of_o the_o world_n never_o so_o deplorable_a and_o desperate_a yet_o it_o shall_v not_o drive_v man_n from_o god_n his_o truth_n and_o pure_a worship_n but_o rather_o make_v they_o cleave_v to_o it_o more_o and_o evidence_n this_o by_o frequent_a and_o earnest_a call_n on_o he_o for_o this_o be_v the_o duty_n require_v under_o these_o calamity_n to_o call_v on_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n under_o which_o be_v comprehend_v all_o outward_a and_o inward_a worship_n of_o god_n whereof_o this_o be_v a_o chief_a part_n and_o man_n cleave_v to_o it_o 2._o as_o god_n be_v able_a to_o save_v in_o great_a extremity_n so_o he_o will_v undoubted_o save_v and_o deliver_v they_o who_o cleave_v to_o he_o and_o seek_v he_o be_v of_o what_o nation_n or_o people_n they_o will_n he_o will_v either_o hide_v some_o of_o they_o from_o trouble_n in_o great_a tempest_n or_o preserve_v they_o under_o it_o till_o he_o give_v a_o issue_n from_o it_o here_o or_o hereafter_o and_o at_o last_o will_v complete_o save_v they_o for_o whosoever_o shall_v call_v on_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v deliver_v or_o escape_v see_v rom._n 10.13_o 3._o the_o church_n be_v the_o place_n of_o great_a safety_n and_o where_o deliverance_n may_v most_o ready_o be_v expect_v of_o any_o and_o however_o it_o fare_v with_o particular_a person_n in_o time_n of_o commotion_n yet_o the_o lord_n will_v still_o preserve_v a_o church_n and_o remnant_n in_o the_o world_n yea_o even_o a_o remnant_n of_o jew_n till_o their_o full_a conversion_n the_o efore_o say_v he_o for_o in_o mount_n zion_n and_o in_o jerusalem_n shall_v he_o deliverance_n and_o in_o the_o remnant_n where_o he_o name_v zion_n and_o jerusalem_n not_o only_o as_o a_o type_n of_o the_o church_n wherein_o safety_n be_v to_o be_v find_v and_o the_o remnant_n be_v to_o be_v preserve_v but_o to_o point_v out_o that_o of_o the_o jew_n belong_v to_o these_o place_n he_o will_v keep_v still_o a_o remnant_n rom._n 11.5_o till_o that_o day_n come_v whereof_o he_o speak_v in_o the_o next_o chapter_n 4._o god_n have_v pass_v his_o word_n for_o the_o preservation_n of_o a_o remnant_n under_o trouble_n and_o this_o be_v to_o be_v trust_v to_o whatever_o our_o sense_n say_v to_o the_o contrary_a for_o say_v he_o there_o shall_v be_v deliverance_n as_o the_o lord_n have_v say_v frequent_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n 5._o as_o of_o zion_n and_o utter_v his_o voice_n from_o jerusalem_n and_o the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n shall_v shake_v but_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v the_o hope_n of_o his_o people_n and_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n follow_v a_o comfortable_a application_n of_o all_o this_o to_o the_o church_n and_o particular_o to_o israel_n hold_v forth_o in_o several_a promise_n what_o mercy_n to_o they_o shall_v be_v in_o their_o recollection_n of_o which_o v._o 1._o and_o in_o this_o streak_n on_o their_o enemy_n and_o what_o sweet_a consequent_n shall_v follow_v thereupon_o the_o first_o promise_n be_v that_o when_o the_o lord_n shall_v manifest_v himself_o thus_o terrible_o against_o their_o enemy_n according_a to_o the_o prediction_n of_o his_o word_n and_o out_o of_o his_o love_n to_o his_o people_n and_o when_o he_o shall_v make_v great_a alteration_n thereby_o which_o be_v a_o further_a amplification_n of_o the_o calamity_n which_o be_v to_o come_v on_o enemy_n yet_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o these_o confusion_n and_o terror_n he_o will_v afford_v hope_n and_o strength_n to_o his_o church_n and_o people_n whence_o learn_v 1._o when_o god_n manifest_v himself_o against_o his_o church_n enemy_n and_o special_o against_o israel_n adversary_n he_o will_v be_v very_o terrible_a and_o dreadful_a and_o his_o be_v a_o party_n will_v make_v all_o the_o creature_n to_o deny_v comfort_n and_o will_v add_v to_o the_o bitterness_n and_o terror_n of_o such_o a_o desolate_a condition_n for_o the_o lord_n shall_v roar_v like_o a_o lion_n see_v zeph._n 2.11_o isa_n 42.13_o 14._o and_o beside_o their_o desolate_a condition_n v._o 15._o the_o lord_n also_o shall_v roar_v to_o embitter_v that_o and_o as_o the_o cause_n of_o it_o as_o be_v after_o clear_v of_o the_o shake_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n 2._o god_n execute_v of_o vengeance_n will_v be_v according_a to_o the_o prediction_n utter_v in_o the_o church_n and_o these_o will_v be_v find_v terrible_a in_o execution_n what_o ever_o man_n think_v of_o they_o before_o for_o the_o lord_n shall_v roar_v out_o of_o zion_n and_o utter_v his_o voice_n from_o jerusalem_n import_v that_o god_n from_o out_o of_o zion_n have_v speak_v against_o they_o by_o his_o word_n and_o that_o now_o his_o speech_n go_v forth_o in_o execution_n shall_v be_v find_v terrible_a as_o the_o roar_n of_o a_o lion_n 3._o god_n will_v make_v his_o presence_n with_o and_o love_n to_o his_o people_n conspicuous_a by_o his_o indignation_n and_o severity_n against_o their_o enemy_n for_o the_o lord_n shall_v roar_v out_o of_o zion_n etc._n etc._n import_v also_o that_o he_o be_v present_a there_o and_o that_o he_o evidence_v his_o respect_n to_o his_o habitation_n by_o his_o dreadful_a thundering_n against_o the_o enemy_n thereof_o 4._o as_o god_n be_v powerful_a to_o overturn_v heaven_n and_o earth_n when_o he_o please_v so_o his_o subdue_a of_o enemy_n may_v bring_v great_a alteration_n and_o overturning_n in_o the_o world_n for_o when_o he_o shall_v roar_v the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n shall_v shake_v which_o together_o with_o what_o be_v say_v v._o 15._o make_v a_o complete_a parallel_n with_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o church_n chap._n 2.10_o and_o it_o import_v such_o a_o alteration_n of_o affair_n as_o if_o there_o be_v a_o dissolution_n of_o the_o world_n and_o overturning_a of_o the_o course_n of_o nature_n and_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n if_o they_o who_o be_v so_o well_o root_v in_o the_o world_n cause_v it_o to_o shake_v before_o they_o be_v cast_v out_o of_o it_o and_o if_o they_o who_o be_v so_o universal_o spread_v through_o the_o earth_n need_v general_a commotion_n to_o make_v they_o miserable_a 5._o when_o god_n be_v shake_v the_o earth_n to_o overturn_v enemy_n god_n people_n may_v be_v exercise_v with_o many_o fear_n and_o apprehension_n that_o the_o storm_n will_v break_v upon_o they_o therefore_o they_o need_v a_o promise_n to_o secure_v they_o against_o this_o 6._o nothing_o will_v be_v able_a to_o secure_v the_o heart_n of_o god_n people_n against_o the_o terror_n of_o a_o time_n of_o great_a commotion_n but_o god_n only_o and_o what_o they_o find_v in_o he_o and_o from_o he_o therefore_o do_v the_o promise_n remit_v they_o to_o what_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v unto_o they_o 7._o in_o time_n of_o great_a confusion_n the_o lord_n people_n may_v expect_v that_o he_o will_v be_v a_o place_n of_o refuge_n to_o hide_v they_o in_o that_o he_o will_v furnish_v they_o who_o come_v to_o he_o with_o ground_n of_o hope_n for_o the_o future_a and_o with_o strength_n and_o courage_n to_o bear_v out_o till_o the_o accomplishment_n come_v for_o that_o which_o be_v propound_v here_o iâ—_n hope_n or_o a_o refuge_n and_o strength_n and_o god_n undertake_v not_o to_o disappoint_v they_o of_o these_o the_o lord_n will_v be_v the_o hope_n of_o his_o people_n etc._n etc._n he_o
will_v take_v they_o under_o his_o protection_n he_o will_v let_v they_o see_v ground_n of_o hope_n in_o himself_o and_o furnish_v they_o with_o hope_n to_o lay_v hold_n on_o it_o and_o with_o strength_n to_o bear_v they_o out_o 8._o what_o the_o lord_n have_v be_v or_o will_v be_v at_o any_o time_n to_o his_o people_n israel_n in_o perform_v spiritual_a promise_n that_o he_o will_v be_v to_o all_o who_o be_v indeed_o his_o people_n therefore_o do_v the_o promise_n run_v general_o both_o to_o his_o people_n whoever_o they_o be_v and_o to_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n ver._n 17._o so_o invasion_n and_o the_o confusion_n occasion_v therreby_o together_o with_o their_o corrupt_a principle_n and_o practice_n do_v cast_v lâ—â—se_n and_o overturn_v religion_n and_o bring_v in_o a_o deluge_n of_o profanity_n therefore_o be_v the_o mercy_n of_o their_o deliverance_n from_o stranger_n set_v forth_o under_o the_o name_n of_o be_v holy_a as_o be_v before_o explain_v 10._o such_o as_o have_v be_v long_o molest_v by_o enemy_n though_o they_o will_v meet_v with_o trouble_n in_o one_o kind_n and_o degree_n or_o other_o while_o they_o be_v within_o time_n yet_o they_o may_v attain_v
