our_o heart_n may_v be_v make_v willing_a to_o comply_v with_o he_o and_o with_o his_o will_n and_o with_o his_o way_n and_o with_o his_o work_n second_o that_o he_o may_v bring_v they_o all_o into_o union_n with_o jesus_n christ_n his_o people_n christ_n bring_v they_o into_o union_n with_o christ_n be_v a_o people_n give_v unto_o christ_n from_o all_o eternity_n thy_o they_o be_v and_o thou_o give_v they_o i_o joh._n 17._o 6._o and_o as_o they_o be_v give_v to_o christ_n by_o a_o eternal_a compact_n so_o they_o must_v be_v give_v in_o to_o christ_n in_o time_n by_o effectual_a vocation_n in_o a_o way_n of_o believe_v and_o for_o this_o reason_n also_o he_o will_v take_v away_o the_o hardness_n of_o their_o heart_n which_o be_v imcompatible_a with_o close_v with_o christ_n heb._n 3._o 7._o to_o day_n if_o you_o will_v hear_v his_o voice_n ver_fw-la 8._o harden_v not_o your_o heart_n three_o that_o he_o may_v enjoy_v communion_n with_o they_o and_o they_o with_o he_o this_o be_v one_o reason_n why_o he_o make_v we_o to_o be_v his_o people_n that_o he_o may_v make_v know_v all_o they_o enjoy_v communion_n with_o they_o his_o love_n and_o goodness_n unto_o we_o and_o that_o our_o heart_n may_v be_v take_v up_o with_o he_o and_o set_v on_o he_o in_o love_n and_o fear_v and_o desire_v and_o joy_n and_o hope_n none_o of_o which_o will_n or_o can_v be_v unless_o the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o take_v away_o the_o heart_n of_o stone_n from_o his_o people_n etc._n etc._n four_o that_o he_o may_v bring_v upon_o they_o all_o the_o good_a which_o he_o have_v promise_v unto_o promise_v and_o bring_v upon_o they_o all_o the_o good_a that_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o his_o people_n viz._n all_o the_o blessing_n of_o mercy_n and_o peace_n and_o comfort_n and_o joy_n of_o will_v not_o obey_v his_o voice_n and_o will_v none_o of_o he_o this_o be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o foundation-work_n for_o the_o other_o work_n of_o the_o covenant_n sol._n 2._o again_o the_o lord_n himself_o do_v again_o by_o promise_n undertake_v to_o take_v away_o it_o god_n by_o promise_n undertake_v it_o because_o of_o the_o impossibility_n of_o it_o the_o stony_a heart_n from_o his_o people_n upon_o a_o twofold_a account_n first_o on_o the_o impossibility_n of_o the_o work_n without_o his_o own_o omnipotency_n none_o but_o the_o almighty_a can_v cure_v the_o stone_n of_o the_o heart_n neither_o angel_n nor_o man_n nor_o ministry_n nor_o self-power_n for_o the_o hard_a heart_n be_v too_o hard_a for_o all_o mean_n whatsoever_o only_a the_o lord_n be_v too_o hard_a for_o it_o he_o can_v subdue_v all_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n and_o he_o can_v pull_v down_o all_o high_a imagination_n which_o do_v exalt_v themselves_o and_o he_o can_v abase_v the_o pride_n of_o man_n and_o he_o can_v circumcise_v all_o the_o stoutness_n of_o the_o heart_n so_o that_o the_o rebellious_a shall_v submit_v themselves_o second_o the_o other_o that_o his_o people_n when_o they_o be_v make_v sensible_a of_o their_o despair_v that_o man_n may_v not_o despair_v hardness_n may_v not_o despair_v but_o may_v apply_v themselves_o unto_o he_o who_o be_v able_a to_o work_v all_o their_o work_n in_o and_o for_o they_o and_o to_o heal_v all_o their_o disease_n and_o to_o subdue_v all_o their_o iniquity_n belove_a a_o promise_n of_o god_n in_o any_o kind_n be_v a_o singular_a foundation_n for_o faith_n and_o prayer_n and_o so_o it_o be_v in_o this_o business_n of_o hardness_n of_o heart_n if_o the_o lord_n promise_v to_o take_v it_o away_o than_o the_o work_n be_v possible_a it_o may_v be_v do_v and_o it_o be_v likewise_o de_fw-la futuro_fw-la it_o shall_v be_v do_v as_o the_o lord_n be_v able_a to_o perform_v whatsoever_o he_o promise_v to_o his_o people_n so_o he_o be_v faithful_a and_o will_v perform_v the_o same_o and_o both_o these_o be_v ground_n for_o faith_n and_o prayer_n to_o go_v unto_o the_o lord_n and_o beseech_v he_o and_o trust_v upon_o he_o that_o he_o will_v according_a to_o his_o word_n take_v away_o the_o hardness_n of_o our_o heart_n quest_n 3._o how_o this_o can_v be_v affirm_v for_o a_o truth_n see_v that_o much_o hardness_n it_o how_o this_o can_v be_v since_o much_o hardness_n remain_v a_o difference_n betwixt_o the_o hardness_n remain_v in_o the_o best_a and_o that_o in_o the_o wicked_a the_o godly_a be_v sensible_a of_o it_o of_o heart_n remain_v in_o all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n all_o the_o day_n of_o their_o life_n sol._n this_o have_v be_v answer_v in_o part_n already_o in_o the_o manner_n how_o god_n take_v away_o the_o hardness_n of_o heart_n from_o his_o people_n only_o i_o will_v add_v that_o there_o be_v a_o vast_a difference_n betwixt_o the_o hardness_n of_o heart_n remain_v in_o the_o people_n of_o god_n and_o that_o hardness_n of_o heart_n abide_v in_o ungodly_a man_n v._o g._n first_o though_o hardness_n of_o heart_n in_o some_o degree_n remain_v in_o the_o people_n of_o god_n yet_o they_o be_v sensible_a of_o it_o as_o their_o great_a evil_n and_o burden_n and_o do_v exceed_o bewail_v it_o and_o complain_v to_o the_o lord_n of_o it_o and_o cry_v out_o why_o have_v thou_o harden_v our_o heart_n from_o thy_o fear_n isa_n 63._o 17._o but_o wicked_a man_n be_v unsensible_a of_o the_o hardness_n of_o their_o heart_n they_o be_v past_a feeling_n and_o their_o conscience_n be_v sear_v as_o with_o a_o hot_a iron_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v 1_o tim._n 4._o 2._o when_o a_o part_n of_o the_o body_n be_v fear_v with_o a_o hot_a iron_n it_o become_v utter_o stupid_a and_o unsensible_a etc._n etc._n second_o the_o hardness_n of_o heart_n remain_v in_o the_o people_n of_o god_n it_o best_a it_o be_v still_o mortify_v in_o the_o best_a be_v still_o mortify_v and_o decrease_v the_o more_o they_o feel_v it_o the_o more_o they_o pray_v against_o it_o and_o never_o give_v over_o till_o they_o have_v obtain_v more_o grace_n and_o strength_n against_o it_o until_o they_o find_v their_o heart_n more_o tender_a and_o pliable_a but_o the_o hardness_n of_o heart_n in_o ungodly_a man_n as_o it_o be_v reign_v so_o it_o be_v rage_v it_o still_o increase_v unto_o more_o hardness_n ungodly_a man_n sin_v more_o and_o more_o and_o still_o oppose_v the_o mean_n of_o soften_a their_o heart_n and_o the_o more_o they_o do_v sin_n the_o more_o they_o do_v harden_v their_o heart_n and_o the_o more_o they_o do_v oppose_v the_o light_n and_o mean_n of_o soften_a the_o more_o they_o do_v augment_v their_o sin_n and_o hardness_n three_o though_o hardness_n of_o heart_n do_v remain_v in_o the_o people_n of_o god_n yet_o harden_v though_o it_o remain_v yet_o they_o do_v not_o willing_o take_v those_o way_n that_o tend_v to_o harden_v 1._o they_o do_v not_o willing_o and_o advise_o give_v up_o themselves_o to_o any_o way_n and_o course_n which_o tend_v to_o the_o harden_v of_o their_o heart_n as_o to_o the_o neglect_n of_o the_o ordinance_n to_o the_o omission_n of_o holy_a duty_n to_o the_o commission_n of_o sin_n against_o the_o light_n of_o the_o word_n and_o of_o conscience_n 2._o they_o do_v cordial_o use_v all_o the_o mean_n to_o work_v off_o the_o hardness_n of_o their_o heart_n as_o frequent_a self-examination_n humble_a confession_n and_o self-judging_n earnest_a prayer_n for_o more_o faith_n and_o fear_v and_o tenderness_n of_o spirit_n and_o the_o lord_n do_v it_o cordial_o use_v the_o mean_n against_o it_o gracious_o â—ear_v they_o in_o these_o request_n but_o thus_o it_o be_v not_o with_o ungodly_a man_n who_o heart_n be_v harden_v they_o practice_n wickedness_n and_o they_o sell_v themselves_o to_o work_v wickedness_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o lord_n 1_o king_n 21._o 25._o and_o give_v themselves_o over_o unto_o lasciviousness_n to_o work_v all_o uncleanness_n with_o greediness_n ephes_n 4._o 19_o and_o trample_v under_o foot_n the_o light_n of_o the_o word_n and_o the_o act_n of_o conscience_n and_o whatsoever_o stand_v in_o their_o way_n to_o restrain_v they_o from_o sin_v and_o be_v so_o far_o from_o improve_n any_o mean_n for_o the_o remove_n of_o the_o hardness_n of_o their_o heart_n that_o they_o deride_v and_o scorn_v at_o they_o and_o reject_v and_o abhor_v
and_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n likewise_o put_v out_o his_o hand_n he_o put_v his_o strength_n to_o our_o strength_n or_o rather_o to_o our_o weakness_n we_o be_v to_o pray_v to_o mourn_v to_o believe_v to_o obey_v and_o that_o we_o may_v do_v these_o he_o come_v in_o with_o a_o new_a influence_n help_n and_o power_n assist_v we_o unto_o all_o these_o five_o by_o way_n of_o confirmation_n sustain_v uphold_v carry_v we_o on_o from_o path_n to_o path_n from_o work_n to_o work_v until_o we_o have_v finish_v all_o our_o work_n he_o lead_v we_o on_o in_o the_o course_n of_o holy_a the_o discovery_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n by_o his_o work_n now_o follow_v the_o second_o way_n of_o discovery_n by_o which_o we_o may_v know_v whether_o we_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n
