ourselves_o undefiled_a and_o serve_v he_o in_o holiness_n &_o righteousness_n according_a to_o his_o word_n have_v charge_v in_o his_o scripture_n so_o many_o as_o look_v for_o the_o glorious_a what_o be_v write_v by_o saint_n paul_n to_o the_o galatian_n where_o he_o number_v gluttony_n v._n and_o drunkenness_n among_o those_o horrible_a crime_n with_o the_o which_o as_o he_o say_v no_o man_n shall_v inherit_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n he_o reckon_v they_o among_o the_o deed_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o couple_v they_o with_o idolatry_n whoredom_n and_o murder_n which_o be_v the_o themselves_o to_o all_o kind_n of_o pleasure_n not_o consider_v nor_o regard_v the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n who_o have_v create_v meat_n and_o drink_n as_o s._n paul_n say_v to_o be_v receive_v thankful_o of_o they_o that_o believe_v &_o know_v the_o truth_n so_o that_o the_o very_o behold_v of_o these_o creature_n be_v the_o handy_a work_n of_o almighty_a god_n may_v teach_v we_o to_o use_v they_o thankful_o as_o 4._o god_n have_v ordain_v therefore_o they_o be_v without_o excuse_n before_o god_n which_o either_o filthy_o feed_v themselves_o not_o respect_v the_o sanctification_n which_o be_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n &_o prayer_n or_o else_o unthankful_o abuse_v the_o good_a creature_n of_o god_n by_o surfeit_v and_o drunkenness_n forasmuch_o as_o god_n ordinance_n in_o his_o creature_n plain_o forbid_v it_o they_o that_o geve_v themselves_o therefore_o to_o bib_a and_o banquet_a be_v altogether_o without_o consideration_n of_o god_n judgement_n be_v sudden_o oppress_v in_o the_o day_n of_o vengeance_n and_o therefore_o our_o saviour_n christ_n warn_v his_o disciple_n
of_o gibeon_n make_v his_o â—_o humble_a petition_n to_o almighty_a god_n cause_v the_o sun_n and_o the_o moon_n to_o stay_v their_o course_n and_o to_o stand_v still_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o heaven_n for_o the_o space_n of_o a_o whole_a day_n until_o such_o time_n the_o people_n be_v sufficient_o avenge_v upon_o their_o enemy_n and_o be_v not_o jehosaphates_n prayer_n of_o great_a force_n and_o strength_n when_o god_n at_o his_o request_n cause_v 20._o his_o enemy_n to_o fall_v out_o among_o themselves_o and_o wilful_o to_o destroy_v one_o another_o who_o can_v marvel_n 18._o enough_o at_o the_o effect_n and_o virtue_n of_o elias_n prayer_n he_o be_v a_o man_n subject_n to_o affection_n as_o we_o be_v pray_v to_o the_o lord_n that_o it_o may_v not_o rain_v and_o there_o fall_v no_o rain_n upon_o the_o earth_n for_o the_o space_n of_o three_o year_n and._n vi_fw-la month_n again_o he_o pray_v that_o it_o may_v rain_v and_o there_o fall_v great_a plenty_n so_o that_o the_o earth_n bring_v forth_o her_o increase_n most_o abundant_o it_o be_v to_o long_o to_o tell_v of_o judith_n hester_n susanna_n and_o of_o diverse_a other_o godly_a man_n and_o woman_n how_o great_o they_o prevail_v in_o all_o their_o do_n by_o give_v their_o mind_n earnest_o and_o devout_o to_o prayer_n let_v it_o be_v sufficient_a at_o this_o time_n to_o conclude_v with_o the_o say_n of_o augustine_n never_o slack_v never_o geve_v over_o but_o let_v we_o daily_o and_o hourly_o early_o and_o late_o in_o season_n and_o out_o of_o season_n be_v occupy_v in_o godly_a meditation_n and_o prayer_n what_o if_o we_o obtain_v not_o our_o petition_n at_o the_o first_o yet_o let_v we_o not_o be_v discourage_v but_o let_v we_o continual_o cry_v and_o call_v upon_o god_n he_o will_v sure_o hear_v we_o at_o length_n if_o for_o no_o other_o cause_n yet_o for_o very_a importunity_n sake_n remember_v the_o parable_n of_o the_o unrighteous_a judge_n and_o the_o poor_a widow_n how_o she_o by_o 17._o her_o importunate_a mean_n cause_v he_o to_o do_v her_o justice_n against_o her_o adversary_n although_o otherwise_o he_o fear_v neither_o god_n nor_o man_n shall_v not_o god_n much_o more_o avenge_v his_o we_o may_v always_o make_v our_o humble_a prayer_n unto_o he_o as_o we_o ought_v to_o do_v and_o always_o obtain_v the_o thing_n which_o we_o ask_v through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n to_o who_o with_o the_o father_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v all_o honour_n and_o glory_n world_n without_o end_n amen_n the_o second_o part_n of_o the_o homily_n concern_v prayer_n in_o the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o sermon_n you_o hear_v the_o great_a necessity_n &_o also_o the_o great_a force_n of_o devout_a and_o earnest_a prayer_n declare_v &_o prove_v unto_o you_o both_o by_o diverse_a weighty_a above_o and_o proceed_v from_o the_o father_n of_o light_v to_o this_o effect_n also_o serve_v the_o testimony_n of_o paul_n in_o diverse_a place_n of_o his_o epistle_n witness_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o wisdom_n the_o spirit_n of_o knowledge_n and_o revelation_n yea_o every_o good_a and_o heavenly_a gift_n as_o faith_n hope_n charity_n grace_n and_o peace_n come_v only_o and_o sole_o of_o god_n understand_v that_o these_o thing_n be_v only_o proper_a to_o he_o which_o be_v omnipotent_a and_o know_v all_o thing_n even_o the_o very_a secret_n of_o the_o heart_n that_o be_v to_o say_v only_a and_o to_o god_n alone_o whereof_o it_o follow_v that_o we_o must_v call_v neither_o upon_o angel_n nor_o yet_o upon_o saint_n but_o only_o and_o sole_o upon_o god_n as_o s._n paul_n do_v write_v example_n in_o passion_n to_o follow_v they_o if_o we_o thus_o therefore_o consider_v christ_n death_n and_o will_v stick_v thereto_o with_o fast_a faith_n for_o the_o merit_n and_o deserve_v death_n come_v upon_o all_o v._n man_n to_o condemnation_n so_o that_o no_o we_o neither_o he_o nor_o any_o of_o he_o have_v any_o right_a or_o interest_n at_o all_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n but_o be_v become_v plain_a reprobate_n and_o castaway_n be_v perpetual_o damn_a to_o the_o everlasting_a pain_n of_o hell_n tire_v in_o this_o so_o great_a misery_n and_o wretchedness_n if_o mankind_n can_v have_v recover_v himself_o again_o and_o obtain_v forgiveness_n at_o god_n hand_n than_o have_v his_o case_n be_v somewhat_o tolerable_a because_o he_o may_v have_v attempt_v some_o way_n how_o to_o deliver_v himself_o from_o eternal_a death_n but_o there_o be_v no_o way_n leave_v unto_o he_o he_o can_v do_v nothing_o that_o may_v pacify_v god_n wrath_n he_o be_v altogether_o god_n divide_v into_o two_o table_n &_o so_o purchase_v to_o himself_o eternal_a life_n in_o deed_n if_o adam_n and_o his_o posterity_n have_v be_v able_a to_o satisfy_v and_o fulfil_v the_o law_n perfect_o in_o love_a god_n above_o all_o thing_n and_o their_o neighbour_n as_o themselves_o then_o shall_v they_o have_v easy_o quench_v the_o lord_n wrath_n and_o escape_v the_o terrible_a sentence_n of_o eternal_a death_n pronounce_v against_o they_o by_o the_o mouth_n of_o almighty_a god_n for_o it_o be_v 10._o write_v do_v this_o &_o thou_o shall_v live_v that_o be_v to_o say_v
