of_o the_o second_o covenant_n that_o shall_v be_v receive_v in_o vain_a 2_o else_o thy_o faith_n will_v be_v defective_a therein_o the_o apostle_n speak_v 〈◊〉_d 1_o thess_n 3.10_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 1_o thess_n 3.10_o of_o a_o defect_n of_o faith_n and_o that_o lie_v in_o two_o thing_n 1_n when_o it_o do_v not_o take_v in_o the_o object_n of_o faith_n in_o its_o extent_n but_o there_o be_v something_o hold_v forth_o to_o be_v believe_v that_o faith_n be_v not_o exercise_v about_o 2_o when_o it_o do_v not_o act_n in_o the_o high_a degree_n there_o be_v a_o defect_n in_o reference_n to_o the_o object_n and_o in_o reference_n unto_o the_o act_n also_o 3_o the_o people_n of_o god_n have_v exercise_v faith_n upon_o the_o covenant_n for_o their_o child_n and_o christ_n jesus_n himself_o for_o his_o child_n 12._o psal_n 102.28_o heb._n 1.10_o 11_o 12._o for_o he_o shall_v see_v his_o seed_n and_o in_o they_o he_o shall_v prolong_v his_o day_n upon_o earth_n and_o therefore_o we_o read_v of_o his_o child_n there_o be_v a_o covenant_n make_v with_o christ_n personal_a and_o a_o covenant_n make_v with_o christ_n mystical_a with_o he_o as_o mediator_n in_o regard_n of_o what_o he_o be_v to_o perform_v and_o with_o he_o as_o head_n for_o we_o and_o christ_n take_v hold_v of_o the_o covenant_n in_o both_o these_o respect_n and_o all_o promise_v make_v unto_o a_o posterity_n christ_n have_v a_o eye_n to_o the_o accomplish_n of_o they_o in_o the_o behalf_n of_o his_o posterity_n as_o well_o as_o himself_o as_o be_v part_n of_o the_o promise_n and_o covenant_n that_o the_o lord_n make_v unto_o he_o for_o himself_o and_o his_o seed_n and_o so_o shall_v all_o the_o faithful_a do_v look_v upon_o all_o the_o promise_n that_o be_v make_v unto_o the_o seed_n of_o the_o faithful_a in_o the_o scripture_n and_o put_v they_o in_o suit_n before_o the_o lord_n for_o thy_o seed_n also_o as_o be_v part_n of_o the_o covenant_n that_o the_o lord_n have_v make_v with_o you_o we_o may_v by_o this_o mean_n leave_v and_o entail_v very_o great_a blessing_n upon_o our_o posterity_n and_o live_v to_o see_v the_o covenant_n accomplish_v unto_o they_o unto_o the_o great_a consolation_n of_o our_o soul_n 4._o psal_n 128.3_o 4._o thy_o child_n shall_v be_v like_a olive-plant_n round_o about_o thy_o table_n behold_v thus_o shall_v the_o man_n be_v bless_v that_o fear_v the_o lord_n the_o church_n be_v call_v the_o olive-tree_n as_o we_o have_v see_v rom._n 11.16_o 17._o and_o they_o as_o church-member_n be_v as_o olive-plant_n those_o that_o be_v of_o use_n and_o excellency_n profit_v church_n and_o commonwealth_n 59.21_o esa_n 59.21_o this_o be_v my_o covenant_n say_v the_o lord_n my_o spirit_n that_o be_v upon_o thou_o and_o my_o word_n that_o i_o have_v put_v in_o thy_o mouth_n shall_v not_o depart_v out_o of_o thy_o mouth_n nor_o out_o of_o the_o mouth_n of_o thy_o seed_n or_o seed_n seed_n henceforth_o and_o for_o ever_o whilst_o we_o straiten_v the_o covenant_n and_o our_o covenant-interest_n unto_o ourselves_o we_o be_v enemy_n to_o our_o own_o consolation_n the_o great_a flourish_a of_o the_o soul_n lie_v in_o the_o enlargement_n of_o the_o faculty_n and_o they_o be_v vast_a object_n that_o do_v cause_n large_a faculty_n it_o be_v of_o admirable_a use_n unto_o a_o man_n own_o spirit_n to_o look_v unto_o the_o covenant_n in_o the_o extent_n of_o it_o to_o you_o and_o to_o your_o seed_n 2._o it_o be_v matter_n of_o exhortation_n unto_o child_n that_o they_o will_v walk_v worthy_a of_o this_o mercy_n this_o inheritance_n that_o god_n have_v entail_v upon_o they_o and_o not_o despise_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o their_o parent_n covenant_n but_o actual_o take_v hold_v of_o the_o covenant_n also_o in_o their_o own_o person_n 1_o consider_v grace_n have_v prevent_v you_o and_o you_o be_v take_v in_o by_o god_n into_o a_o familiar_a covenant_n with_o himself_o mere_o out_o of_o prevent_a mercy_n whereas_o thou_o may_v have_v be_v bear_v among_o the_o uncircumcised_a it_o be_v no_o small_a privilege_n to_o be_v bear_v of_o those_o that_o be_v themselves_o in_o covenant_n with_o god_n 2_o it_o will_v be_v a_o great_a aggravation_n to_o thy_o sin_n and_o judgement_n when_o thou_o shall_v with_o esau_n despise_v thy_o birthright_n the_o contempt_n of_o a_o spiritual_a privilege_n be_v a_o great_a sin_n and_o dishonour_n to_o god_n and_o it_o will_v sure_o add_v to_o thy_o judgement_n 8.11_o mat._n 8.11_o the_o child_n of_o the_o kingdom_n shall_v be_v cast_v out_o into_o utter_a darkness_n mat._n 8.11_o and_o how_o will_v that_o
