fain_o to_o fall_v downright_a upon_o he_o and_o then_o he_o fall_v down_o under_o the_o conviction_n and_o confess_v and_o acknowledge_v his_o sin_n thus_o it_o be_v we_o be_v natural_o averse_a to_o yield_v to_o the_o conviction_n of_o sin_n i_o pray_v mind_v what_o i_o say_v take_v a_o notorious_a sinner_n one_o that_o be_v common_o know_v to_o be_v guilty_a of_o gross_a sin_n suppose_v drunkenness_n or_o uncleanness_n come_v to_o this_o man_n and_o tell_v he_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n say_v express_o that_o no_o unrighteous_a person_n that_o no_o unclean_a person_n no_o drunkard_n shall_v enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n can_v he_o deny_v the_o scripture_n no_o he_o can_v deny_v it_o well_o but_o then_o come_v and_o tell_v he_o you_o be_v guilty_a of_o drunkenness_n you_o be_v guilty_a of_o uncleanness_n and_o therefore_o the_o conclusion_n be_v this_o it_o will_v natural_o follow_v from_o these_o two_o premise_n that_o you_o shall_v not_o inherit_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n will_v he_o yield_v to_o the_o conviction_n no_o unless_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n come_v and_o make_v he_o yield_v to_o it_o he_o will_v never_o yield_v therefore_o i_o say_v from_o that_o natural_a opposition_n that_o be_v in_o all_o our_o heart_n against_o this_o work_n of_o conviction_n it_o be_v therefore_o require_v that_o the_o power_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v put_v forth_o upon_o the_o soul_n so_o christ_n promise_v here_o i_o will_v send_v the_o comforter_n and_o he_o shall_v convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n 2._o there_o be_v not_o only_o a_o natural_a averseness_n and_o opposition_n against_o it_o in_o our_o carnal_a heart_n but_o satan_n also_o the_o devil_n he_o will_v help_v the_o soul_n to_o hold_v out_o against_o the_o conviction_n of_o sin_n as_o long_o as_o he_o can_v he_o will_v keep_v the_o soul_n from_o yield_v to_o it_o for_o the_o devil_n know_v this_o that_o when_o once_o a_o soul_n be_v convince_v of_o sin_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n he_o be_v in_o danger_n to_o lose_v that_o soul_n he_o be_v in_o danger_n that_o that_o soul_n will_v make_v a_o escape_n therefore_o he_o lay_v about_o he_o and_o do_v all_o that_o ever_o he_o can_v to_o keep_v the_o soul_n from_o yield_v to_o be_v convince_v of_o sin_n just_o like_o a_o jailor_n if_o he_o have_v a_o prisoner_n who_o he_o perceive_v have_v a_o mind_n to_o make_v a_o escape_n he_o will_v lay_v the_o more_o iron_n upon_o he_o and_o have_v the_o great_a watch_n and_o guard_n about_o he_o so_o in_o this_o case_n if_o the_o devil_n see_v a_o soul_n in_o danger_n to_o the_o weapon_n of_o our_o warfare_n be_v not_o carnal_a but_o mighty_a through_o god_n to_o the_o pull_v down_o of_o strong_a hold_n there_o be_v strong_a hold_n and_o fortification_n that_o the_o soul_n about_o sin_n and_o for_o sin_n i_o think_v it_o be_v out_o of_o question_n by_o the_o example_n of_o judas_n that_o have_v his_o sin_n so_o set_v home_o upon_o he_o that_o he_o can_v not_o live_v under_o it_o nay_o brethren_n the_o evil_a spirit_n may_v set_v home_o sin_n upon_o the_o heart_n of_o god_n people_n and_o endeavour_v to_o overwhelm_v they_o i_o remember_v what_o job_n it_o of_o he_o or_o else_o it_o be_v not_o our_o sin_n now_o not_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n if_o there_o be_v never_o a_o power_n give_v to_o adam_n in_o the_o state_n of_o innocency_n to_o have_v believe_v if_o god_n have_v require_v it_o of_o he_o for_o we_o be_v now_o condemn_v for_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n the_o power_n be_v once_o give_v we_o though_o we_o have_v lose_v the_o power_n yet_o that_o do_v not_o excuse_v we_o for_o the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n that_o be_v one_o answer_n but_o 2._o though_o it_o be_v true_a believe_v on_o christ_n be_v not_o express_o require_v in_o
