do_v so_o much_o for_o christ_n and_o yet_o paul_n will_v get_v by_o death_n if_o thou_o be_v a_o believer_n thou_o shall_v have_v thy_o immediate_a communion_n with_o christ_n as_o paul_n have_v alas_o here_o while_o thou_o live_v thou_o have_v but_o little_a communion_n between_o christ_n and_o thou_o and_o do_v he_o but_o little_a service_n in_o the_o world_n then_o why_o shall_v you_o so_o much_o desire_v to_o live_v in_o the_o world_n that_o have_v nothing_o to_o countervail_v the_o trouble_n that_o you_o have_v and_o the_o sin_n that_o be_v commit_v in_o the_o world_n o_o sure_o it_o will_v be_v gain_n for_o you_o second_o hence_o it_o follow_v that_o it_o be_v a_o self-denial_n to_o a_o believer_n to_o be_v willing_a to_o live_v here_o in_o the_o world_n you_o will_v say_v if_o it_o be_v so_o much_o gain_n why_o shall_v any_o be_v so_o desirous_a to_o live_v it_o be_v this_o first_o nature_n will_v have_v its_o work_n though_o in_o their_o judgement_n they_o be_v convince_v that_o it_o be_v better_a to_o be_v with_o christ_n yet_o the_o body_n will_v be_v work_v and_o the_o affection_n will_v follow_v the_o body_n very_o much_o further_o though_o they_o be_v convince_v that_o it_o be_v gain_n yet_o god_n lay_v a_o tie_n upon_o they_o to_o preserve_v their_o life_n as_o long_o as_o they_o can_v here_o in_o this_o world_n in_o obedience_n to_o god_n they_o do_v desire_v to_o avoid_v danger_n and_o preserve_v their_o life_n it_o be_v not_o for_o they_o to_o be_v where_o it_o be_v best_o for_o they_o to_o be_v but_o to_o be_v where_o god_n will_v have_v they_o to_o be_v and_o therefore_o god_n do_v charge_v they_o to_o seek_v to_o preserve_v their_o life_n and_o to_o go_v on_o till_o he_o himself_o shall_v dissolve_v the_o body_n and_o soul_n it_o be_v god_n that_o be_v the_o lord_n of_o our_o life_n and_o as_o god_n give_v we_o our_o life_n so_o it_o be_v he_o that_o must_v take_v they_o away_o and_o not_o any_o body_n else_o but_o yet_o i_o say_v there_o be_v some_o self-denial_n in_o it_o we_o must_v look_v upon_o ourselves_o here_o as_o in_o a_o very_a low_a and_o mean_a condition_n in_o comparison_n of_o what_o we_o hope_v to_o be_v within_o a_o while_n after_o therefore_o observe_v this_o one_o note_n those_o that_o do_v believe_v the_o gain_n of_o death_n they_o have_v need_v labour_n what_o they_o can_v to_o countervail_v the_o forbearance_n of_o the_o gain_n by_o somewhat_o or_o other_o if_o a_o man_n have_v a_o great_a gain_n and_o it_o come_v not_o in_o his_o present_a possession_n he_o think_v what_o shall_v i_o have_v for_o my_o forbearance_n you_o will_v say_v what_o be_v it_o that_o any_o believer_n can_v have_v in_o lieu_n of_o his_o forbearance_n of_o that_o gain_n true_o the_o most_o excellent_a thing_n be_v this_o that_o he_o may_v do_v christ_n service_n while_o he_o live_v now_o then_o be_v that_o the_o main_a thing_n o_o learn_v from_o hence_o to_o be_v of_o as_o much_o use_n in_o your_o life_n as_o possible_o you_o can_v for_o you_o have_v nothing_o else_o to_o speak_v of_o in_o forbearance_n of_o that_o great_a gain_n why_o lord_n i_o expect_v to_o enjoy_v thou_o for_o ever_o before_o long_o but_o thou_o be_v please_v to_o prolong_v my_o life_n here_o for_o a_o while_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n i_o meet_v with_o many_o temptation_n and_o trouble_n and_o vexation_n and_o much_o sin_n i_o have_v but_o yet_o lord_n thou_o know_v it_o be_v my_o desire_n to_o honour_v thou_o and_o serve_v thou_o and_o through_o thy_o mercy_n i_o be_o some_o way_n or_o other_o serviceable_a to_o thou_o in_o the_o place_n where_o thou_o have_v set_v i_o and_o lord_n this_o be_v the_o thing_n content_v i_o while_o i_o be_o absent_a from_o thou_o three_o hence_o we_o see_v the_o great_a difference_n or_o the_o world_n or_o life_n or_o death_n or_o thing_n present_a or_o thing_n to_o come_v all_o be_v you_o in_o christ_n death_n come_v to_o be_v make_v you_o death_n be_v part_n of_o the_o possession_n of_o the_o saint_n o_o the_o difference_n between_o the_o death_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o the_o death_n of_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a man_n do_v but_o put_v two_o man_n a_o wicked_a man_n and_o a_o godly_a man_n lie_v both_o together_o upon_o their_o deathbed_n you_o must_v take_v a_o wicked_a man_n that_o have_v a_o enlighten_v

to_o come_v god_n will_v send_v his_o gospel_n to_o a_o place_n though_o he_o see_v this_o generation_n will_v get_v no_o good_a by_o it_o and_o god_n may_v intend_v the_o good_a of_o the_o generation_n that_o be_v to_o come_v by_o send_v his_o ministry_n in_o this_o particular_a generation_n though_o he_o see_v that_o they_o will_v not_o entertain_v it_o yet_o some_o that_o may_v come_v after_o they_o may_v entertain_v it_o as_o they_o say_v in_o china_n they_o prepare_v work_n for_o many_o hundred_o year_n before_o the_o parent_n they_o be_v prepare_v work_n for_o their_o child_n to_o enjoy_v and_o so_o the_o lord_n lay_v in_o in_o one_o generation_n for_o the_o child_n that_o be_v come_v after_o and_o therefore_o whether_o you_o entertain_v it_o or_o no_o god_n notwithstanding_o will_v have_v his_o end_n accomplish_v four_o another_o reason_n why_o god_n send_v his_o gospel_n where_o he_o know_v it_o will_v not_o be_v entertain_v by_o the_o generality_n it_o be_v this_o to_o leave_v man_n whole_o without_o excuse_n i_o may_v put_v these_o two_o together_o to_o discover_v the_o abominable_a sinfulness_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n and_o to_o leave_v they_o whole_o without_o excuse_n there_o be_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n that_o do_v discover_v the_o sinfulness_n of_o man_n heart_n more_o than_o this_o that_o when_o the_o lord_n send_v this_o gospel_n among_o they_o yet_o it_o be_v reject_v the_o preach_v of_o any_o moral_a truth_n do_v nothing_o so_o much_o argue_v the_o sinfulness_n of_o man_n heart_n in_o the_o rejection_n of_o they_o as_o when_o the_o gospel_n be_v preach_v and_o that_o be_v reject_v that_o argue_v the_o abominable_a wickedness_n of_o man_n heart_n yea_o for_o aught_o we_o know_v more_o than_o be_v in_o the_o very_a devil_n we_o do_v not_o know_v that_o there_o be_v so_o much_o perverseness_n in_o any_o of_o the_o devil_n in_o hell_n as_o there_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o that_o man_n that_o do_v reject_v the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o why_o because_o god_n never_o try_v they_o god_n never_o put_v it_o to_o trial_n to_o offer_v any_o term_n of_o peace_n to_o they_o and_o never_o tell_v they_o that_o he_o will_v be_v reconcile_v to_o they_o upon_o any_o term_n and_o therefore_o whether_o they_o have_v such_o perverseness_n of_o heart_n or_o no_o it_o be_v not_o discover_v so_o as_o thou_o be_v but_o if_o thou_o live_v where_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v preach_v and_o yet_o continue_v wicked_a and_o ungodly_a thou_o be_v discover_v to_o have_v that_o wickedness_n in_o thy_o heart_n that_o for_o aught_o thou_o know_v it_o be_v beyond_o the_o wickedness_n of_o any_o devil_n in_o hell_n the_o devil_n may_v say_v lord_n have_v thou_o offer_v term_n of_o peace_n to_o we_o we_o will_v not_o have_v so_o reject_v it_o and_o then_o it_o do_v leave_v man_n utter_o without_o excuse_n i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o this_o be_v god_n primary_n intention_n but_o this_o come_v in_o why_o the_o lord_n do_v suffer_v the_o gospel_n to_o be_v preach_v to_o leave_v they_o whole_o without_o excuse_n and_o for_o that_o you_o have_v that_o text_n in_o the_o cry_v to_o another_o and_o say_v holy_a holy_a holy_a be_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n the_o whole_a earth_n be_v full_a of_o his_o glory_n and_o the_o post_n of_o the_o door_n move_v at_o the_o voice_n sweet_a unto_o he_o though_o it_o be_v a_o message_n of_o threaten_v i_o speak_v all_o this_o to_o this_o end_n to_o show_v that_o there_o be_v no_o work_n more_o difficult_a than_o the_o work_n of_o a_o minister_n and_o especial_o when_o his_o ministry_n have_v not_o success_n and_o therefore_o this_o point_n be_v very_o reasonable_a to_o tell_v unto_o they_o all_o that_o though_o they_o have_v not_o the_o success_n that_o they_o desire_v yet_o the_o good_a of_o their_o ministry_n shall_v return_v upon_o they_o again_o be_v there_o a_o people_n that_o they_o be_v send_v to_o to_o who_o do_v they_o offer_v christ_n why_o they_o will_v fain_o gain_v their_o soul_n unto_o christ_n that_o they_o may_v live_v for_o ever_o in_o praise_v the_o riches_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n in_o the_o high_a heaven_n but_o will_v they_o not_o know_v thou_o shait_fw-fr have_v the_o blessing_n of_o that_o peace_n look_v what_o glory_n and_o comfort_n they_o shall_v have_v have_v so_o you_o every_o one_o in_o your_o measure_n shall_v be_v encourage_v in_o every_o work_n that_o god_n have_v call_v you_o unto_o go_v on_o therefore_o with_o peace_n and_o with_o comfort_n in_o do_v we_o go_v to_o preach_v to_o this_o people_n and_o do_v they_o reject_v it_o what_o hope_n shall_v we_o have_v that_o now_o the_o gospel_n shall_v do_v good_a it_o have_v receive_v a_o foil_n and_o now_o the_o edge_n seem_v to_o be_v off_o and_o never_o like_a to_o do_v good_a any_o where_o no_o say_v christ_n do_v not_o reason_n so_o do_v not_o think_v that_o your_o gospel_n have_v lose_v the_o edge_n of_o it_o it_o shall_v return_v to_o you_o again_o with_o as_o much_o power_n as_o ever_o it_o do_v at_o first_o it_o be_v not_o so_o with_o the_o gospel_n as_o with_o other_o thing_n many_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n if_o once_o they_o receive_v a_o repulse_n their_o edge_n be_v take_v off_o but_o the_o gospel_n though_o it_o do_v receive_v a_o repulse_n yet_o still_o the_o edge_n of_o it_o shall_v continue_v and_o the_o power_n of_o it_o this_o be_v that_o which_o the_o apostle_n say_v 2_o tim._n 2._o 10._o wherein_o i_o suffer_v trouble_n as_o a_o evil-doer_n even_o unto_o bond_n but_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v not_o bind_v mark_v though_o i_o suffer_v bond_n yet_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v not_o bind_v i_o be_o slight_v and_o contemn_v i_o but_o the_o word_n be_v not_o bind_v the_o word_n be_v the_o same_o that_o ever_o it_o be_v though_o i_o be_v hate_v and_o cast_v out_o that_o be_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o word_n yet_o it_o remain_v in_o as_o much_o i_o indeed_o be_o cast_v into_o a_o dungeon_n but_o the_o gospel_n will_v prevail_v all_o the_o persecution_n of_o wicked_a man_n all_o the_o scorn_n that_o be_v cast_v upon_o the_o gospel_n by_o they_o shall_v not_o take_v away_o the_o edge_n and_o power_n and_o life_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o that_o shall_v continue_v as_o much_o as_o ever_o all_o the_o rage_n of_o hell_n and_o devil_n and_o tyrant_n shall_v not_o take_v away_o the_o power_n of_o the_o gospel_n indeed_o they_o may_v restrain_v such_o and_o such_o man_n in_o the_o preach_a of_o it_o but_o after_o they_o be_v dead_a shall_v we_o think_v that_o therefore_o in_o have_v lose_v the_o power_n of_o it_o no_o god_n time_n be_v not_o come_v when_o the_o time_n of_o god_n shall_v come_v to_o call_v home_o those_o that_o belong_v to_o his_o election_n of_o grace_n it_o shall_v appear_v that_o the_o gospel_n shall_v arise_v in_o power_n and_o glory_n and_o prevail_v in_o the_o world_n again_o therefore_o let_v we_o never_o despair_v but_o that_o the_o gospel_n will_v prevail_v in_o the_o world_n as_o at_o first_o when_o as_o there_o be_v but_o a_o few_o poor_a fisherman_n to_o preach_v it_o and_o all_o the_o ever_o and_o so_o as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o gospel_n so_o it_o shall_v be_v with_o the_o professor_n of_o it_o if_o god_n be_v dishonour_v by_o other_o yet_o let_v not_o your_o edge_n be_v take_v chapman_n that_o shall_v go_v and_o offer_v rich_a ware_n they_o have_v diamond_n and_o precious_a stone_n thing_n worth_a thousand_o and_o they_o come_v perhaps_o to_o poor_a countrypeople_n and_o open_v their_o cabinet_n of_o diamond_n and_o precious_a stone_n and_o make_v offer_n to_o they_o but_o they_o do_v not_o know_v the_o worth_n of_o they_o they_o will_v bid_v nothing_o for_o they_o now_o when_o he_o see_v that_o they_o reject_v and_o despise_v they_o say_v he_o give_v i_o my_o ware_n again_o and_o so_o he_o pack_v they_o up_o again_o and_o away_o he_o go_v for_o say_v he_o this_o be_v not_o a_o people_n that_o be_v fit_a for_o such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v so_o say_v christ_n you_o be_v such_o chapman_n i_o send_v you_o abroad_o with_o the_o most_o rich_a pearl_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o go_v and_o show_v the_o excellency_n of_o it_o to_o people_n and_o to_o offer_v it_o to_o they_o and_o the_o truth_n be_v i_o require_v thus_o much_o of_o they_o that_o if_o they_o will_v have_v this_o pearl_n they_o must_v sell_v all_o now_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n come_v and_o they_o be_v ignorant_a of_o this_o pearl_n that_o they_o have_v bring_v this_o rich_a commodity_n they_o can_v tell_v they_o indeed_o that_o here_o be_v a_o exceed_a rich_a pearl_n but_o this_o be_v the_o tenor_n that_o you_o must_v be_v content_a to_o part_v with_o all_o for_o this_o pearl_n that_o be_v thus_o first_o you_o must_v actual_o lay_v down_o and_o renounce_v every_o belove_a sin_n second_o you_o must_v enter_v into_o bond_n as_o it_o be_v with_o god_n that_o whensoever_o he_o call_v for_o your_o estate_n your_o liberty_n your_o outward_a peace_n and_o comfort_n that_o you_o have_v in_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v at_o god_n dispose_n thus_o you_o enter_v of_o the_o gospel_n if_o i_o say_v when_o the_o lord_n shall_v discover_v these_o thing_n unto_o they_o they_o shall_v not_o enter_v into_o this_o rest_n but_o they_o shall_v pretend_v a_o great_a many_o difficulty_n o_o the_o way_n be_v so_o strict_a and_o hard_a and_o they_o shall_v suffer_v so_o much_o and_o upon_o this_o do_v refuse_v the_o land_n of_o canaan_n the_o bless_a thing_n of_o to_o the_o application_n for_o the_o first_o the_o way_n of_o god_n deal_v with_o such_o it_o be_v either_o as_o you_o hear_v the_o last_o day_n to_o take_v away_o the_o ministry_n from_o they_o that_o he_o do_v sometime_o or_o if_o not_o so_o the_o lord_n pass_v a_o sentence_n against_o they_o they_o shall_v not_o taste_v of_o my_o supper_n and_o so_o a_o man_n may_v live_v a_o long_a time_n under_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n under_o a_o sentence_n or_o further_o that_o sometime_o the_o lord_n give_v he_o up_o to_o himself_o to_o his_o own_o heart_n lust_n for_o this_o the_o gospel_n be_v the_o counsel_n of_o god_n for_o so_o it_o be_v call_v in_o one_o of_o the_o evangelist_n now_o mark_v what_o god_n deal_n be_v with_o those_o that_o reject_v but_o his_o counsel_n in_o psalm_n 81._o i_o give_v they_o up_o to_o their_o own_o heart_n lust_n and_o they_o walk_v in_o their_o own_o counsel_n and_o that_o famous_a place_n in_o rom._n 1._o from_o the_o middle_n of_o it_o there_o the_o apostle_n show_v that_o those_o that_o do_v reject_v but_o the_o very_a light_n of_o nature_n god_n give_v they_o up_o to_o a_o reprobate_a sense_n much_o more_o those_o that_o shall_v earthly_a lust_n take_v full_a possession_n of_o they_o the_o lord_n give_v they_o up_o to_o their_o own_o heart_n lust_n the_o lord_n say_v of_o they_o he_o that_o will_v be_v filthy_a let_v he_o be_v so_o provoke_v against_o this_o sin_n rather_o than_o another_o sin_n whatsoever_o it_o be_v for_o the_o open_v of_o the_o great_a evil_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n and_o rejection_n of_o the_o gospel_n you_o that_o understand_v any_o thing_n must_v needs_o know_v that_o it_o must_v require_v a_o very_a large_a time_n to_o open_v it_o all_o but_o in_o a_o very_a more_o quick_a with_o those_o that_o hear_v much_o of_o mercy_n than_o he_o do_v with_o other_o one_o sermon_n of_o mercy_n reject_v may_v send_v a_o man_n near_o to_o hell_n by_o far_o than_o ten_o midst_n of_o the_o sea_n upon_o a_o board_n of_o the_o ship_n and_o there_o be_v all_o his_o help_n now_o be_v it_o not_o a_o mad_a thing_n for_o this_o man_n to_o put_v off_o this_o plank_n from_o he_o when_o he_o have_v no_o other_o help_n now_o we_o be_v ready_a to_o be_v swallow_v up_o of_o the_o sea_n of_o god_n wrath_n and_o now_o god_n cast_v in_o a_o plank_a to_o waft_v we_o to_o the_o shore_n if_o possible_o may_v be_v or_o rather_o thus_o the_o offer_n of_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v like_o the_o cast_n of_o a_o rope_n into_o a_o river_n unto_o a_o man_n that_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o drown_v there_o be_v a_o man_n that_o be_v fall_v into_o the_o thames_n and_o you_o can_v get_v he_o up_o but_o you_o will_v get_v a_o line_n and_o throw_v it_o into_o the_o place_n where_o he_o sink_v and_o there_o be_v no_o way_n for_o he_o to_o be_v save_v but_o only_o that_o now_o if_o such_o a_o man_n put_v off_o the_o time_n from_o he_o what_o help_n can_v there_o be_v of_o that_o man_n thus_o it_o be_v all_o man_n and_o woman_n natural_o they_o be_v even_o ready_a to_o sink_v into_o the_o bottomless_a gulf_n of_o eternal_a misery_n this_o be_v thy_o condition_n now_o the_o lord_n in_o mercy_n send_v his_o minister_n to_o come_v and_o make_v a_o offer_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o cast_v a_o line_n to_o congregation_n and_o make_v this_o proclamation_n in_o the_o name_n of_o to_o it_o why_o lest_o he_o be_v angry_a lest_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v angry_a the_o anger_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v a_o dreadful_a anger_n the_o anger_n of_o god_n the_o father_n be_v dreadful_a and_o yet_o the_o anger_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n in_o some_o respect_n be_v more_o dreadful_a as_o the_o anger_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v most_o dreadful_a of_o all_o because_o
