instance_n if_o he_o pray_v well_o in_o the_o opinion_n of_o other_o and_o win_v at_o the_o follow_v of_o other_o duty_n so_o as_o to_o be_v esteem_v of_o as_o a_o wise_a virgin_n that_o not_o only_o have_v a_o lamp_n but_o oil_n in_o it_o he_o be_v content_a and_o that_o even_o though_o he_o have_v not_o oil_n in_o his_o lamp_n but_o where_o singleness_n be_v a_o man_n be_v never_o satisfy_v in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n though_o he_o get_v applause_n and_o esteem_v from_o other_o unless_o he_o obtain_v â—he_v main_a end_n of_o duty_n viz._n the_o honour_n of_o god_n and_o some_o nearness_n to_o and_o fellowship_n with_o he_o in_o christ_n there_o will_v be_v somewhat_o of_o all_o these_o even_o in_o believer_n where_o this_o corruption_n much_o prevail_v though_o it_o have_v not_o dominion_n by_o which_o its_o prevail_a power_n may_v be_v know_v the_o 3d._a use_n serve_v for_o warning_n see_v there_o be_v such_o a_o corruption_n that_o cleave_v to_o christ_n follower_n and_o that_o deceitful_o and_o subtle_o bear_v in_o itself_o upon_o they_o in_o all_o that_o they_o doâ—_n then_o 1._o labour_v to_o discern_v it_o and_o to_o be_v watchful_a over_o it_o 2_o labour_v careful_o to_o guard_v against_o it_o first_o i_o say_v labour_v to_o discern_v and_o to_o be_v watchful_a over_o this_o corruption_n and_o more_o especial_o when_o it_o work_v most_o deceitful_o and_o subtle_o and_o insinuat_v itself_o under_o specious_a and_o fair_a pretension_n when_o it_o look_v like_o grace_n or_o a_o principle_n of_o conscience_n when_o it_o shreud_n itself_o under_o the_o pretext_n of_o some_o honest_a design_n or_o of_o some_o moral_n or_o natural_a good_a o_o do_v not_o judge_v of_o thing_n as_o they_o appear_v at_o the_o first_o but_o search_v to_o the_o bottom_n of_o they_o and_o consider_v well_o whence_o they_o rise_v and_o whither_o they_o tend_v there_o be_v some_o thing_n that_o look_v very_o fair_a and_o specious_a like_a at_o this_o time_n which_o if_o we_o examine_v they_o narrow_o will_v we_o apprehend_v be_v find_v to_o spring_v from_o this_o bitter_a and_o corrupt_a root_n the_o man_n that_o have_v invade_v we_o and_o overturn_v the_o tentation_n as_o be_v plaster_v over_o with_o fair_a word_n and_o specious_a show_n of_o respect_n to_o he_o which_o indignation_n be_v manifest_v by_o these_o very_a sharp_a word_n get_v thou_o dangerous_a and_o more_o detest_a and_o abhor_v of_o god_n than_o this_o sort_n of_o selfishness_n i_o shall_v instance_n the_o subtlety_n and_o danger_n of_o this_o sin_n of_o selfishness_n shreud_v itself_o under_o pretend_a respect_n to_o christ_n short_o in_o some_o particular_n it_o come_v in_o one_o of_o two_o way_n either_o when_o man_n do_v that_o which_o be_v right_a as_o to_o the_o matter_n and_o yet_o it_o be_v but_o self_n that_o they_o be_v seek_v or_o when_o they_o do_v that_o which_o be_v wrong_a and_o yet_o they_o cover_v it_o with_o profess_a respect_n to_o god_n there_o be_v several_a kind_n of_o both_o first_o we_o may_v see_v it_o in_o thing_n lawful_a and_o first_o in_o these_o man_n will_v have_v a_o kind_n of_o zeal_n for_o god_n and_o yet_o be_v seek_v themselves_o as_o it_o be_v with_o jehu_n who_o boast_v that_o he_o be_v zealous_a for_o god_n and_o yet_o in_o truth_n it_o be_v most_o for_o the_o kingdom_n 2_o as_o selfishness_n vent_v itself_o command_v to_o take_v it_o up_o when_o they_o meet_v with_o it_o not_o to_o shift_v it_o but_o to_o stoop_v pleasant_o to_o the_o take_n of_o it_o on_o and_o to_o bear_v it_o cheerful_o after_o he_o
