prophet_n say_v judgement_n into_o wormwood_n and_o how_o stand_v it_o that_o he_o be_v anoint_v with_o the_o oil_n of_o gladness_n that_o be_v with_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n above_o his_o fellow_n when_o many_o king_n of_o judah_n have_v great_a praise_n of_o god_n than_o he_o and_o scarce_o any_o do_v fall_v from_o god_n so_o grievous_o as_o he_o now_o one_o refuge_n behind_o which_o they_o think_v they_o have_v be_v nothing_o at_o all_o they_o will_v say_v that_o all_o this_o be_v speak_v in_o respect_n of_o his_o beginning_n in_o which_o he_o be_v famous_a with_o this_o oil_n of_o gladness_n above_o his_o fellow_n and_o above_o all_o the_o world_n true_a it_o be_v in_o respect_n of_o his_o government_n at_o the_o first_o i_o grant_v this_o may_v be_v speak_v of_o he_o but_o be_v not_o the_o word_n plain_a that_o they_o be_v not_o mean_v of_o any_o that_o shall_v begin_v well_o and_o then_o fall_v back_o for_o say_v not_o the_o text_n that_o this_o sceptre_n of_o justice_n shall_v be_v in_o his_o kingdom_n for_o ever_o therefore_o how_o so_o ever_o solomon_n be_v once_o honour_v above_o all_o king_n yet_o this_o praise_n be_v not_o he_o but_o another_o who_o shall_v for_o ever_o abide_v in_o his_o justice_n and_o righteousness_n so_o these_o four_o thing_n here_o witness_v of_o the_o prophet_n that_o he_o be_v call_v god_n that_o his_o kingdom_n be_v everlasting_a that_o his_o government_n shall_v be_v ever_o righteous_a that_o he_o be_v anoint_v with_o oil_n of_o gladness_n above_o all_o his_o fellow_n all_o the_o jew_n in_o the_o world_n can_v see_v solomon_n nor_o any_o mortal_a man_n in_o this_o glass_n but_o must_v needs_o acknowledge_v our_o saviour_n christ_n the_o son_n of_o god_n god_n and_o man_n the_o saviour_n of_o the_o world_n the_o king_n and_o priest_n of_o his_o people_n for_o ever_o now_o further_o to_o examine_v this_o scripture_n for_o our_o own_o man_n edify_n let_v we_o mark_v first_o how_o solomon_n be_v set_v out_o a_o figure_n of_o christ_n and_o so_o singular_a token_n &_o show_n of_o god_n love_n and_o mercy_n upon_o he_o that_o he_o shall_v resemble_v his_o only_a beget_v son_n notwithstanding_o a_o man_n load_v with_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n so_o as_o few_o have_v appear_v more_o unrighteous_a or_o more_o unthankful_a to_o god_n such_o a_o other_o example_n almost_o we_o have_v in_o samson_n a_o man_n full_a of_o infirmity_n yet_o exceed_o beloved_a of_o god_n and_o a_o lively_a figure_n of_o his_o son_n christ_n we_o learn_v in_o this_o both_o to_o know_v ourselves_o and_o to_o know_v god_n in_o ourselves_o to_o trust_v to_o nothing_o not_o riches_n honour_n friend_n strength_n authority_n no_o not_o learning_n wisdom_n government_n or_o any_o knowledge_n for_o in_o these_o both_o samson_n and_o solomon_n have_v fall_v down_o before_o we_o and_o if_o ever_o man_n have_v be_v bear_v that_o can_v have_v his_o happiness_n in_o himself_o that_o man_n be_v solomon_n strong_a in_o power_n rich_a in_o treasure_n wise_a in_o rule_n healthful_a in_o body_n sober_a in_o affection_n abound_v in_o pleasure_n what_o so_o ever_o his_o eye_n or_o ear_n can_v desire_v no_o gift_n want_v in_o mind_n in_o body_n in_o outward_a life_n yea_o more_o than_o this_o a_o heart_n that_o can_v measure_v all_o the_o delight_n of_o the_o world_n to_o use_v they_o as_o they_o be_v and_o see_v the_o vanity_n that_o be_v in_o they_o and_o confess_v that_o life_n in_o immortality_n be_v above_o all_o yet_o from_o all_o this_o he_o fall_v when_o god_n leave_v he_o in_o his_o own_o power_n to_o make_v trial_n of_o his_o own_o strength_n for_o how_o can_v flesh_n and_o blood_n prevail_v against_o principality_n &_o the_o power_n of_o darkness_n and_o how_o can_v solomon_n stand_v upright_o though_o his_o strength_n have_v be_v double_a when_o adam_n himself_o can_v fall_v from_o paradise_n then_o let_v not_o we_o poor_a creature_n boast_v ourselves_o in_o who_o there_o be_v no_o wisdom_n come_v not_o into_o this_o fight_n in_o thine_o own_o armour_n for_o where_o solomon_n have_v fall_v who_o soever_o thou_o be_v thou_o will_v be_v crush_v in_o pecee_n &_o if_o in_o he_o there_o be_v so_o little_a help_n confess_v thou_o with_o all_o humbleness_n of_o mind_n y_fw-fr in_o thy_o flesh_n there_o be_v no_o goodness_n but_o put_v thy_o trust_n in_o the_o live_a god_n by_o goodness_n of_o god_n who_o have_v find_v a_o way_n to_o bury_v for_o ever_o the_o sin_n of_o all_o his_o people_n and_o so_o to_o forget_v they_o that_o they_o have_v none_o account_v the_o figure_n of_o christ_n be_v therefore_o in_o solomon_n that_o we_o shall_v see_v how_o grace_n abound_v above_o sin_n &_o how_o mercy_n be_v exalt_v above_o judgement_n in_o the_o nature_n and_o body_n of_o solomon_n we_o see_v the_o spirit_n quench_v
and_o all_o that_o use_v company_n only_o for_o worldly_a pleasure_n without_o regard_n of_o swear_v lie_a backbite_a idle_a talk_n wantonness_n or_o what_o soever_o what_o gladness_n receive_v other_o by_o their_o admonition_n &_o exhortation_n or_o how_o can_v they_o say_v this_o sweet_a oil_n be_v in_o their_o heart_n let_v no_o man_n deceive_v himself_o god_n be_v not_o mock_v he_o that_o be_v of_o christ_n have_v a_o care_n to_o bring_v other_o unto_o christ_n he_o hate_v the_o iniquity_n of_o all_o man_n and_o give_v comfort_n to_o many_o with_o the_o oil_n of_o gladness_n therefore_o he_o be_v some_o way_n so_o describe_v that_o the_o people_n must_v needs_o be_v lead_v to_o acknowledge_v still_o the_o covenant_n which_o they_o have_v in_o he_o so_o in_o this_o captivity_n of_o babylon_n the_o prophet_n jeremy_n foretell_v their_o delivery_n thus_o that_o they_o shall_v return_v to_o serve_v god_n and_o david_n their_o king_n david_n be_v 14._o before_o shall_v be_v all_o teach_v of_o god_n even_o so_o here_o in_o this_o psalm_n the_o prophet_n sore_o tell_v their_o return_n from_o babylon_n forseeth_a the_o redemption_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o break_v out_o in_o complaint_n of_o his_o short_a life_n because_o he_o shall_v not_o tarry_v to_o see_v the_o day_n and_o to_o comfort_v himself_o again_o speak_v out_o in_o spirit_n what_o why_o shall_v we_o light_o let_v go_v these_o admonition_n and_o not_o rather_o with_o faithful_a heart_n see_v what_o great_a thing_n the_o lord_n have_v do_v and_o consecrate_v ourselves_o to_o do_v his_o will_n who_o be_v the_o god_n of_o glory_n if_o we_o do_v not_o what_o hope_n can_v we_o have_v to_o escape_v his_o judgement_n he_o that_o spare_v not_o his_o own_o people_n the_o child_n of_o
