faith_n must_v be_v ground_v on_o the_o word_n so_o do_v abraham_n in_o this_o place_n against_o this_o strong_a temptation_n reason_n out_o of_o god_n word_n to_o stay_v himself_o so_o that_o knowledge_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v necessary_a to_o he_o that_o believe_v and_o therefore_o that_o doctrine_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n be_v erroneous_a and_o here_o condemn_v which_o say_v that_o if_o a_o man_n become_v devout_a &_o believe_v as_o the_o church_n believe_v though_o he_o know_v not_o what_o the_o church_n believe_v yet_o this_o faith_n will_v save_v he_o but_o conscience_n of_o obedience_n to_o so_o much_o as_o they_o know_v god_n will_v account_v of_o they_o as_o of_o true_a believer_n &_o in_o truth_n such_o be_v to_o be_v commend_v above_o those_o which_o have_v much_o knowledge_n &_o so_o seem_v to_o have_v much_o faith_n and_o yet_o show_v forth_o no_o obedience_n answerable_a to_o their_o knowledge_n for_o they_o have_v a_o show_n of_o godliness_n but_o want_v the_o power_n of_o it_o three_o this_o confute_v our_o ignorant_a boaster_n who_o say_v they_o have_v as_o much_o knowledge_n as_o any_o man_n need_v to_o have_v for_o they_o know_v that_o a_o man_n must_v love_v god_n above_o all_o &_o that_o christ_n jesus_n be_v the_o saviour_n of_o the_o world_n &_o this_o say_v they_o be_v enough_o and_o hereupon_o they_o take_v up_o their_o rest_n for_o matter_n of_o religion_n &_o seek_v to_o go_v no_o further_o but_o these_o man_n know_v nothing_o at_o all_o for_o if_o they_o will_v add_v to_o this_o which_o they_o know_v though_o it_o be_v but_o little_a a_o care_n to_o increase_v in_o knowledge_n &_o with_o their_o knowledge_n join_v obedience_n they_o it_o be_v something_o but_o while_o they_o have_v no_o care_n neither_o to_o get_v more_o knowledge_n nor_o to_o show_v forth_o obedience_n to_o that_o they_o know_v they_o do_v hereby_o show_v plain_o that_o there_o be_v no_o drop_n of_o save_a knowledge_n nor_o true_a faith_n in_o their_o heart_n four_o see_v god_n commend_v the_o seed_n of_o true_a faith_n for_o true_a faith_n indeed_o this_o must_v encourage_v all_o man_n to_o use_v all_o good_a mean_n to_o come_v by_o true_a faith_n and_o repentance_n for_o though_o as_o yet_o thou_o have_v but_o little_a knowledge_n and_o therefore_o but_o little_a faith_n and_o repentance_n yet_o if_o thou_o join_v hereto_o a_o endeavour_n to_o get_v more_o knowledge_n and_o have_v also_o care_n to_o practice_n that_o which_o thou_o know_v then_o will_v the_o lord_n increase_v thy_o knowledge_n christianity_n as_o the_o cloud_n do_v the_o israelite_n in_o the_o wilderness_n now_o whereas_o the_o whole_a company_n of_o believer_n be_v call_v a_o cloud_n compass_v we_o here_o be_v answer_v a_o bear_v witness_n of_o the_o truth_n on_o his_o side_n he_o will_v be_v wonderful_a glad_a thereof_o and_o take_v it_o for_o a_o great_a honour_n to_o he_o how_o much_o more_o than_o ought_v we_o to_o labour_n for_o knowledge_n faith_n and_o obedience_n in_o true_a religion_n that_o we_o may_v become_v witness_n unto_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n if_o it_o be_v a_o dignity_n to_o be_v witness_n to_o we_o will_v remain_v still_o in_o our_o ignorance_n and_o never_o labour_v for_o knowledge_n then_o shall_v these_o servant_n of_o god_n that_o believe_v in_o the_o old_a testament_n stand_v up_o and_o witness_v against_o we_o at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n for_o they_o have_v not_o such_o mean_n as_o we_o have_v and_o yet_o they_o become_v most_o faithful_a witness_n second_o this_o must_v teach_v we_o to_o be_v careful_a that_o as_o in_o word_n we_o profess_v christ_n so_o indeed_o we_o may_v confess_v he_o express_v the_o power_n of_o his_o grace_n in_o us._n for_o by_o this_o true_a confession_n of_o christ_n we_o be_v make_v his_o witness_n but_o when_o we_o confess_v christ_n in_o word_n only_o and_o yet_o in_o life_n &_o practice_n deny_v he_o than_o we_o be_v unfaithful_a then_o to_o make_v we_o seek_v for_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n by_o faith_n in_o christ_n to_o make_v we_o desire_v it_o love_v it_o and_o pray_v for_o it_o above_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n abel_n not_o only_o offer_v but_o offer_v so_o as_o that_o it_o put_v he_o â—n_o mind_n of_o his_o sin_n and_o of_o his_o redemption_n by_o the_o death_n of_o the_o messiah_n to_o come_v so_o we_o must_v not_o only_o outward_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n but_o so_o receive_v as_o that_o we_o may_v see_v and_o be_v humble_v for_o our_o sin_n and_o seek_v to_o be_v reconcile_v to_o god_n in_o christ._n such_o use_n also_o ought_v we_o to_o make_v of_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o not_o to_o be_v content_a with_o bare_a hear_n of_o it_o or_o to_o get_v a_o general_a knowledge_n out_o of_o it_o but_o it_o must_v give_v we_o a_o special_a sight_n of_o our_o own_o estate_n by_o sin_n and_o urge_v we_o forward_o to_o seek_v the_o favour_n of_o god_n in_o christ._n religion_n stand_v not_o in_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n with_o the_o congregation_n though_o it_o be_v do_v never_o so_o often_o and_o never_o so_o formal_o but_o so_o to_o hear_v and_o so_o to_o receive_v as_o that_o they_o may_v work_v in_o we_o those_o two_o thing_n and_o that_o be_v the_o pith_n and_o life_n of_o religion_n and_o whosoever_o he_o be_v that_o profess_v religion_n and_o show_v not_o the_o fruit_n of_o it_o in_o these_o two_o that_o man_n profession_n be_v in_o vain_a and_o it_o will_v go_v for_o no_o payment_n at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n thus_o we_o see_v they_o offer_v and_o what_o they_o offer_v it_o follow_v a_o great_a sacrifice_n than_o cain_n the_o three_o &_o last_o point_n be_v the_o difference_n of_o these_o sacrifice_n for_o although_o cain_n offer_v as_o well_o as_o abel_n and_o offer_v sacrifice_n as_o well_o as_o abel_n yet_o be_v there_o a_o difference_n in_o their_o sacrifice_n for_o abel_n be_v better_a than_o cain_n this_o be_v the_o chief_a point_n for_o this_o set_v down_o what_o be_v that_o excellency_n of_o his_o faith_n for_o which_o he_o be_v here_o commend_v abel_n be_v not_o commend_v for_o offering_n by_o his_o he_o offer_v a_o better_a sacrifice_n than_o cain_n can_v the_o holy_a ghost_n call_v abel_n a_o better_a or_o great_a sacrifice_n because_o abel_n bring_v the_o best_a and_o fat_a of_o his_o sheep_n the_o sacrifice_n that_o we_o can_v offer_v we_o must_v not_o do_v they_o cold_o and_o careless_o but_o with_o zealous_a affection_n and_o resolution_n from_o the_o heart_n otherwise_o if_o we_o
