thought_n into_o their_o mind_n whereabout_o they_o may_v be_v occupy_v and_o their_o understanding_n draw_v away_o the_o mind_n of_o a_o man_n be_v light_n and_o inconstant_a if_o he_o can_v put_v in_o but_o one_o motion_n it_o oftentimes_o draw_v with_o it_o so_o many_o link_n as_o make_v up_o a_o whole_a chain_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n the_o preacher_n go_v on_o and_o he_o understand_v not_o what_o be_v say_v and_o so_o when_o his_o mind_n return_v he_o can_v have_v no_o sound_a knowledge_n of_o the_o thing_n utter_v but_o a_o confuse_a opinion_n into_o these_o by_o thought_n man_n be_v oftentimes_o bring_v even_o by_o occasion_n of_o some_o word_n or_o sentence_n which_o they_o hear_v utter_v and_o be_v carry_v so_o far_o that_o they_o can_v of_o long_o time_n recover_v their_o mind_n to_o bring_v it_o again_o to_o the_o matter_n see_v this_o great_a danger_n we_o ought_v when_o we_o come_v to_o hear_v god_n word_n teach_v to_o make_v account_n that_o we_o go_v about_o a_o very_a hard_a work_n that_o we_o go_v to_o encounter_v with_o satan_n hand_n to_o hand_n who_o seek_v then_o most_o busy_o to_o steal_v away_o our_o heart_n that_o he_o may_v make_v that_o word_n think_v it_o a_o most_o miserable_a thing_n to_o have_v so_o filthy_a a_o beast_n &_o so_o soul_n a_o spirit_n to_o lodge_v in_o his_o breast_n if_o he_o think_v it_o to_o be_v a_o most_o vile_a commend_v some_o sermon_n as_o a_o matter_n worthy_a to_o be_v write_v in_o letter_n of_o gold_n when_o as_o in_o deed_n it_o deserve_v not_o so_o much_o as_o to_o be_v note_v with_o a_o coal_n i_o speak_v not_o of_o those_o silly_a wretch_n which_o be_v never_o as_o yet_o acquaint_v with_o preach_v for_o it_o be_v no_o great_a marvel_v though_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o discern_v chalk_n from_o cheese_n or_o be_v blind_a for_o to_o judge_v of_o colour_n but_o to_o such_o as_o of_o long_a time_n have_v be_v hearer_n and_o yet_o never_o the_o wise_a because_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o judge_v when_o sound_a and_o necessary_a conclusion_n be_v draw_v out_o of_o the_o word_n but_o all_o be_v one_o with_o they_o whether_o the_o reason_n that_o be_v make_v be_v good_a or_o bad_a strong_a or_o weak_a yea_o further_o you_o shall_v perceive_v that_o even_o a_o little_a show_n of_o a_o reason_n although_o never_o so_o doltish_a be_v against_o true_a godliness_n do_v more_o prevail_v with_o they_o than_o a_o multitude_n of_o infallible_a proof_n although_o they_o be_v never_o so_o sure_a and_o that_o which_o be_v so_o gross_a and_o absurd_a that_o a_o child_n may_v laugh_v at_o seem_v to_o they_o a_o very_a strong_a pillar_n to_o lean_v to_o there_o need_v no_o more_o when_o a_o man_n preach_v unto_o they_o but_o a_o glorious_a show_n of_o learning_n a_o sweet_a ring_a voice_n and_o matter_n so_o strange_a and_o strange_o handle_v that_o they_o may_v be_v bring_v into_o a_o wonderment_n of_o that_o they_o know_v not_o and_o satan_n have_v many_o chaplain_n be_v sincere_a and_o so_o they_o take_v themselves_o but_o when_o the_o sun_n arise_v that_o be_v the_o fiery_a trial_n or_o parch_a heat_n of_o persecution_n they_o stumble_v and_o fall_v away_o and_o because_o the_o word_n have_v no_o deep_a root_n in_o they_o it_o wither_v and_o bring_v forth_o no_o fruit_n these_o also_o be_v not_o profit_v by_o the_o word_n of_o grace_n but_o be_v still_o castawaye_n &_o damn_a creature_n in_o this_o kind_n of_o ground_n or_o in_o these_o hearer_n if_o we_o note_v well_o we_o shall_v see_v that_o which_o be_v strange_a and_o wonder_a when_o christ_n say_v and_o testify_v of_o they_o that_o they_o receive_v the_o word_n with_o joy_n these_o
be_v not_o blasphemer_n or_o persecutor_n of_o the_o word_n they_o be_v not_o contemner_n which_o regard_v not_o at_o all_o to_o hear_v it_o they_o come_v not_o under_o a_o show_n or_o pretence_n as_o to_o a_o thing_n which_o otherwise_o they_o have_v no_o care_n nor_o feeling_n of_o or_o which_o they_o delight_v not_o for_o to_o hear_v but_o how_o they_o receive_v it_o with_o joy_n and_o take_v such_o pleasure_n therein_o that_o return_v they_o can_v say_v sure_o this_o be_v a_o very_a notable_a piece_n of_o work_n and_o well_o handle_v i_o be_o glad_a that_o i_o hear_v it_o it_o do_v i_o even_o as_o much_o good_a as_o my_o meat_n i_o will_v go_v a_o mile_n to_o hear_v the_o like_a again_o be_v not_o this_o then_o marvelous_a and_o fearful_a that_o a_o man_n may_v go_v thus_o far_o &_o do_v pierce_v into_o they_o &_o cause_v they_o to_o tremble_v at_o the_o majesty_n &_o power_n of_o the_o fame_n their_o tender_a heart_n do_v sigh_v and_o mourn_v for_o their_o iniquity_n as_o on_o the_o contrary_a part_n they_o which_o make_v no_o conscience_n of_o sin_n but_o be_v harden_v in_o their_o affection_n although_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v in_o good_a case_n yet_o be_v they_o curse_v if_o i_o look_v not_o narrow_o to_o my_o own_o heart_n i_o may_v for_o all_o this_o be_v damn_v therefore_o i_o must_v not_o satisfy_v myself_o with_o this_o but_o see_v that_o i_o cover_v the_o word_n deep_a enough_o that_o my_o heart_n be_v soften_v in_o such_o sort_n that_o i_o feel_v the_o root_n go_v deep_a yea_o so_o deep_a that_o it_o can_v never_o be_v root_v out_o and_o therefore_o their_o horn_n and_o to_o hide_v their_o head_n so_o soon_o as_o there_o be_v any_o fear_n of_o danger_n or_o likelihood_n of_o persecution_n neither_o will_v man_n bear_v themselves_o in_o hand_n that_o they_o be_v jolly_a professor_n when_o they_o have_v but_o a_o little_a taste_v of_o the_o word_n &_o be_v no_o more_o but_o empty_a barrel_n which_o give_v a_o great_a sound_n here_o than_o we_o be_v set_v a_o work_n with_o great_a toil_n to_o have_v this_o same_o hard_a stony_a ground_n make_v soft_a and_o fit_a to_o receive_v this_o heavenly_a seed_n and_o he_o which_o be_v not_o careful_a in_o this_o point_n to_o take_v pain_n you_o shall_v see_v he_o wax_v so_o hard_o that_o even_o as_o a_o continual_a rain_n drop_v upon_o a_o rock_n of_o stone_n make_v it_o never_o the_o only_a man_n be_v arm_v with_o that_o power_n what_o other_o way_n or_o mean_n can_v there_o be_v to_o resist_v he_o there_o be_v a_o child_n possess_v with_o a_o devil_n the_o father_n bring_v he_o to_o the_o disciple_n of_o christ_n that_o they_o may_v cast_v he_o out_o but_o they_o can_v not_o jesus_n cast_v he_o out_o then_o the_o disciple_n do_v ask_v he_o why_o they_o can_v not_o cast_v power_n to_o touch_v their_o body_n their_o child_n or_o their_o good_n they_o will_v seek_v no_o further_o but_o to_o god_n say_v that_o as_o he_o have_v give_v he_o power_n so_o when_o it_o shall_v please_v he_o he_o will_v restrain_v he_o and_o thereupon_o they_o will_v rest_v but_o in_o the_o end_n they_o have_v be_v glad_a to_o use_v other_o mean_n god_n have_v appoint_v mean_n and_o they_o tempt_v god_n that_o refuse_v they_o if_o a_o man_n be_v fall_v into_o a_o ditch_n and_o lie_v still_o pray_v god_n help_v i_o lord_n help_v i_o and_o do_v not_o stir_v to_o climb_v out_o he_o may_v do_v not_o remove_v he_o from_o so_o afflict_v but_o faith_n in_o those_o so_o for_o a_o time_n afflict_a do_v resist_v he_o so_o that_o he_o do_v not_o nor_o can_v prevail_v against_o the_o soul_n bottom_n there_o shall_v be_v find_v in_o they_o gross_a ignorance_n and_o palpable_a darkness_n and_o so_o indeed_o the_o true_a cause_n of_o all_o foul_a sin_n which_o abound_v at_o this_o day_n among_o we_o and_o flow_v even_o as_o a_o swell_a sea_n be_v the_o want_n of_o true_a knowledge_n this_o ignorance_n have_v take_v suchroote_n that_o all_o they_o which_o have_v make_v proof_n will_v confess_v with_o i_o that_o our_o time_n be_v like_o the_o time_n of_o the_o prophet_n esay_n chap._n 28._o who_o have_v labour_v himself_o as_o it_o be_v out_o of_o breath_n and_o teach_n and_o see_v have_v no_o virtue_n we_o have_v no_o godliness_n for_o we_o be_v plain_o teach_v here_o that_o faith_n virtue_n and_o knowledge_n must_v increase_v and_o grow_v up_o together_o let_v we_o all_o print_n this_o lesson_n deep_o in_o our_o mind_n that_o it_o may_v drive_v we_o to_o make_v haste_n to_o come_v out_o of_o our_o ignorance_n and_o to_o seek_v apace_o after_o knowledge_n let_v we_o of_o the_o sweetness_n and_o power_n thereof_o they_o will_v never_o have_v enough_o of_o the_o first_o spoonful_n if_o they_o have_v a_o healthful_a stomach_n they_o can_v never_o be_v bring_v so_o soon_o to_o loathe_v and_o as_o it_o be_v to_o vomit_v up_o again_o so_o wholesome_a sustenance_n but_o let_v we_o learn_v here_o that_o when_o our_o knowledge_n be_v grow_v to_o be_v never_o so_o great_a because_o we_o know_v but_o in_o part_n and_o we_o know_v nothing_o as_o we_o ought_v to_o know_v as_o saint_n paul_n say_v even_o than_o we_o be_v to_o give_v all_o diligence_n to_o join_v to_o our_o virtue_n knowledge_n unless_o when_o we_o have_v begin_v and_o proceed_v so_o far_o we_o mind_n to_o fall_v back_o again_o this_o place_n do_v plain_o set_v forth_o the_o woeful_a and_o and_o child_n we_o be_v which_o must_v not_o have_v meat_n set_v before_o we_o in_o gross_a to_o be_v our_o own_o carver_n but_o it_o must_v be_v mince_v to_o our_o hand_n we_o must_v also_o be_v feed_v as_o it_o be_v by_o spoonful_n for_o this_o cause_n he_o do_v not_o contenthimselfe_n to_o exhort_v in_o general_a unto_o virtue_n but_o also_o to_o name_n and_o point_v we_o out_o certain_a chief_a branch_n which_o we_o must_v especial_o labour_v about_o for_o unless_o god_n shall_v deal_v with_o we_o in_o this_o wise_a so_o vain_a be_v we_o that_o we_o shall_v wander_v and_o rove_v as_o it_o be_v in_o a_o wide_a field_n and_o never_o come_v nigh_o the_o mark_n or_o at_o least_o in_o look_v after_o some_o one_o virtue_n or_o other_o forget_v and_o let_v go_v the_o chief_a and_o principal_a for_o we_o see_v many_o that_o can_v roll_v in_o their_o mouth_n the_o name_n of_o virtue_n and_o godliness_n and_o nothing_o almost_o but_o virtue_n virtue_n as_o though_o they_o will_v persuade_v man_n that_o their_o garden_n do_v grow_v full_a of_o such_o herb_n but_o when_o we_o come_v to_o this_o particular_a examination_n to_o look_v for_o this_o virtue_n and_o that_o in_o steed_n of_o these_o sweet_a herb_n we_o shall_v find_v nothing_o but_o stink_a weed_n here_o be_v a_o great_a part_n of_o our_o diligence_n and_o wisdom_n therefore_o that_o when_o we_o study_v forvertue_n and_o godliness_n and_o when_o we_o call_v upon_o the_o lord_n for_o gift_n we_o search_v out_o every_o part_n and_o branch_n lest_o we_o be_v oversee_v in_o some_o special_a point_n and_o least_o while_o we_o seek_v to_o increase_v one_o virtue_n another_o decay_n in_o we_o for_o that_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v if_o we_o cast_v not_o our_o eye_n diligent_o on_o every_o side_n and_o so_o often_o time_n we_o rather_o loose_v than_o gain_n rather_o go_v backward_o than_o forward_o out_o of_o the_o negligence_n in_o this_o point_n of_o doctrine_n or_o for_o
well_o therefore_o i_o think_v good_a not_o to_o disquiet_v they_o here_o be_v now_o wonder_a patience_n these_o be_v very_o godly_a and_o charitable_a person_n yea_o even_o a_o treachery_n towards_o god_n and_o man_n for_o be_v there_o any_o of_o they_o which_o be_v slander_v with_o some_o foul_a crime_n whereby_o they_o shall_v receive_v great_a injury_n or_o be_v spiteful_o rail_v upon_o if_o some_o of_o their_o near_a friend_n sit_v by_o and_o hold_v their_o tougue_n when_o they_o know_v they_o be_v injury_v that_o can_v by_o and_o by_o feel_v &_o say_v this_o be_v cold_a friendship_n that_o they_o can_v not_o have_v deal_v so_o unlovinglie_o towards_o their_o friend_n by_o whomsoeever_n they_o shall_v have_v hear_v they_o so_o abuse_v they_o can_v not_o have_v hold_v their_o tongue_n then_o belike_o god_n nor_o his_o truth_n be_v none_o of_o their_o dear_a friend_n that_o they_o can_v put_v up_o such_o injury_n do_v towards_o he_o there_o be_v plenty_n of_o this_o patience_n in_o all_o place_n but_o godliness_n can_v be_v suffer_v to_o come_v near_o for_o he_o be_v a_o break_v peace_n and_o a_o very_a unpleasant_a fellow_n he_o be_v over_o rough_a and_o precise_a and_o over_o captious_a there_o be_v good_a neighbourhood_n and_o friendship_n before_o he_o come_v they_o can_v be_v merry_a together_o and_o be_v in_o unity_n without_o any_o jar_n have_v it_o not_o be_v better_a to_o use_v gentleness_n and_o patience_n then_o to_o have_v this_o broil_n for_o there_o be_v nothing_o better_a than_o love_n &_o where_o that_o be_v not_o there_o be_v nothing_o good_a o_o miserable_a day_n this_o be_v the_o good_a love_n now_o among_o man_n that_o they_o can_v love_v one_o another_o but_o they_o must_v hate_v god_n to_o have_v peace_n and_o concord_n with_o man_n to_o be_v at_o odds_n with_o god_n for_o man_n sake_n to_o put_v up_o the_o dishonour_v of_o his_o name_n not_o to_o continue_v in_o patience_n unless_o godliness_n be_v want_v the_o ungodlie_a world_n and_o lewd_a nature_n that_o be_v in_o man_n take_v occasion_n to_o accuse_v godly_a zeal_n under_o this_o pretence_n and_o to_o find_v fault_n with_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o word_n because_o say_v they_o it_o set_v man_n at_o strife_n but_o we_o must_v learn_v in_o this_o place_n to_o join_v godliness_n with_o our_o patience_n for_o otherwise_o we_o shall_v be_v find_v to_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o irreligious_a and_o profane_a dog_n although_o we_o pretend_v love_n never_o so_o much_o the_o time_n will_v not_o suffer_v to_o handle_v the_o rest_n which_o remain_v in_o this_o text._n let_v we_o rememeber_v that_o which_o have_v be_v say_v and_o give_v all_o diligence_n to_o pursue_v these_o excellent_a virtue_n that_o so_o we_o may_v approve_v ourselves_o to_o be_v right_a christian_n and_o look_v for_o the_o bless_a hope_n promise_v in_o jesu_n christ_n the_o three_o sermon_n 7_o and_o with_o godliness_n brotherlie_a kindness_n and_o with_o brotherlie_a kindness_n love_n 8_o for_o if_o these_o thing_n be_v with_o you_o and_o abound_v they_o will_v make_v you_o that_o you_o shall_v not_o be_v idle_a nor_o unfruitful_a in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n 9_o for_o he_o that_o have_v not_o these_o thing_n be_v blind_a and_o see_v not_o a_o far_o off_o and_o have_v forget_v that_o he_o be_v purge_v from_o his_o old_a sin_n and_o with_o godliness_n brotherlie_a kindness_n etc._n etc._n we_o have_v hear_v already_o that_o with_o our_o faith_n must_v be_v join_v virtue_n or_o godly_a deed_n which_o it_o can_v be_v without_o if_o it_o be_v a_o true_a faith_n with_o virtue_n we_o be_v command_v to_o join_v knowledge_n which_o may_v be_v a_o guide_n thereunto_o our_o knowledge_n must_v go_v with_o temperance_n with_o this_o must_v come_v patience_n and_o thereunto_o must_v be_v join_v godliness_n there_o remain_v yet_o two_o branch_n of_o these_o special_a virtue_n about_o which_o we_o be_v to_o travel_v the_o first_o of_o these_o be_v brotherlie_a love_n or_o kindness_n which_o must_v be_v yoke_v with_o godliness_n as_o i_o say_v that_o this_o godliness_n he_o speak_v of_o be_v refer_v to_o the_o first_o table_n of_o the_o law_n respect_v god_n and_o his_o religion_n that_o we_o be_v sound_a and_o zealous_a in_o the_o same_o and_o not_o as_o those_o which_o be_v for_o all_o all_o time_n and_o all_o religion_n and_o therefore_o care_v not_o what_o be_v say_v against_o religion_n be_v very_a bellie-god_n and_o atheist_n so_o this_o be_v refer_v to_o the_o second_o table_n show_v what_o we_o owe_v unto_o man_n this_o be_v very_o fit_o and_o necessary_o add_v for_o as_o there_o be_v many_o which_o regard_v man_n only_o how_o to_o please_v and_o not_o to_o grieve_v or_o offend_v they_o altogether_o forget_v their_o duty_n towards_o the_o lord_n god_n and_o whole_o shut_v he_o out_o as_o though_o their_o chief_a care_n shall_v be_v of_o man_n let_v pass_v godliness_n so_o there_o be_v some_o that_o offend_v on_o the_o other_o side_n which_o look_v always_o so_o high_a as_o to_o have_v respect_n to_o the_o lord_n and_o his_o truth_n to_o be_v earnest_a and_o fiery_a in_o that_o overlook_v man_n forget_v the_o duty_n which_o they_o owe_v unto_o they_o the_o holy_a apostle_n meet_v with_o this_o mischief_n and_o tell_v we_o that_o we_o must_v so_o love_n god_n that_o we_o also_o love_v man_n join_v say_v he_o to_o your_o godliness_n brotherly_a kindness_n for_o unless_o this_o be_v join_v and_o go_v with_o our_o zeal_n of_o god_n word_n it_o be_v no_o true_a godliness_n although_o we_o be_v never_o so_o sound_a in_o judgement_n and_o seem_v to_o be_v as_o hot_a as_o moses_n or_o elias_n yea_o even_o to_o be_v swallow_v up_o with_o burn_a zeal_n for_o it_o do_v not_o proceed_v from_o god_n spirit_n who_o do_v also_o work_v the_o love_n towards_o man_n whersoever_o he_o go_v but_o it_o do_v proceed_v of_o some_o corrupt_a cause_n as_o of_o vain_a glory_n or_o self-love_n and_o such_o like_a and_o deserve_v not_o indeed_o to_o be_v call_v godly_a devotion_n no_o more_o than_o the_o true_a faith_n can_v be_v without_o virtue_n or_o deserve_v to_o be_v call_v aught_o save_o a_o shadow_n or_o image_n of_o faith_n if_o it_o be_v without_o good_a work_n but_o it_o be_v a_o bitterness_n which_o resemble_v the_o true_a zeal_n which_o do_v evermore_o carry_v with_o it_o a_o love_n and_o care_n towards_o man_n true_a it_o be_v that_o to_o be_v zealous_a in_o spirit_n be_v a_o singular_a and_o special_a gift_n of_o god_n &_o they_o which_o be_v without_o it_o be_v but_o brutish_a and_o senseless_a creature_n not_o know_v god_n nor_o how_o precious_a his_o glory_n be_v yet_o this_o must_v be_v look_v unto_o in_o every_o one_o of_o we_o whether_o we_o bear_v a_o love_a affection_n towards_o our_o brethren_n or_o no_o for_o if_o we_o love_v god_n we_o must_v needs_o love_v man_n which_o bear_v his_o image_n if_o we_o delight_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n this_o be_v one_o chief_a point_n of_o doctrine_n that_o be_v teach_v in_o it_o that_o we_o be_v love_v &_o kind_a unto_o man_n therefore_o as_o s._n paul_n 1_o cor._n 13._o show_v that_o very_o excellent_a gift_n do_v not_o profit_v without_o love_n so_o likewise_o in_o this_o place_n we_o be_v teach_v that_o if_o we_o will_v seem_v to_o be_v godly_a and_o must_v therefore_o seek_v a_o difference_n between_o these_o two_o we_o may_v take_v this_o difference_n either_o that_o the_o first_o of_o these_o do_v express_v what_o we_o owe_v towards_o the_o godly_a who_o be_v chief_o call_v the_o brethren_n and_o the_o latter_a what_o we_o owe_v unto_o all_o both_o good_a and_o bad_a or_o else_o the_o former_a do_v signify_v the_o inward_a affection_n the_o purge_v their_o sin_n by_o redemption_n yet_o they_o have_v forget_v this_o that_o they_o be_v redeem_v to_o the_o end_n they_o shall_v no_o long_o serve_v sin_n but_o purge_v away_o the_o old_a leaven_n but_o be_v without_o those_o former_a grace_n he_o say_v they_o have_v forget_v this_o not_o mean_v thereby_o that_o they_o have_v ever_o learn_v it_o for_o if_o they_o have_v yet_o at_o the_o least_o they_o have_v not_o well_o learned_a it_o we_o may_v see_v by_o this_o how_o many_o there_o be_v which_o be_v stark_o blind_a and_o have_v forget_v that_o christian_n be_v call_v to_o measure_n &_o not_o be_v deceive_v neither_o in_o ourselves_o nor_o in_o other_o let_v we_o be_v ashamed_a if_o we_o be_v carnal_a to_o take_v upon_o we_o the_o name_n of_o the_o true_a professor_n let_v we_o deny_v unto_o they_o the_o honourable_a name_n of_o christian_n which_o be_v but_o filthy_a swine_n and_o profane_a dog_n as_o our_o saviour_n christ_n call_v they_o to_o conclude_v this_o matter_n none_o be_v allow_v to_o be_v true_a receiver_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o such_o as_o join_v virtue_n with_o their_o faith_n and_o with_o virtue_n knowledge_n and_o so_o temperance_n patience_n godliness_n brotherlie_a kindness_n and_o love_n and_o such_o as_o also_o do_v seek_v to_o abound_v in_o they_o the_o rest_n which_o care_v not_o for_o these_o or_o content_v themselves_o with_o the_o bare_a show_n of_o they_o although_o they_o will_v seem_v to_o be_v worshipper_n of_o god_n and_o devout_a person_n yet_o they_o be_v by_o this_o doctrine_n of_o the_o lord_n whole_o shut_v forth_o until_o they_o have_v learn_v a_o new_a lesson_n remember_v that_o this_o be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o god_n and_o not_o of_o man_n remember_v that_o we_o must_v stand_v and_o dwell_v upon_o it_o not_o for_o a_o day_n or_o two_o while_o we_o have_v hear_v it_o but_o all_o our_o life_n long_o to_o bring_v it_o to_o the_o practice_n it_o be_v plain_a and_o clear_a none_o can_v be_v excuse_v if_o they_o know_v it_o not_o and_o so_o through_o simplicity_n stand_v upon_o the_o common_a faith_n think_v to_o shroud_v themselves_o well_o under_o the_o shadow_n of_o the_o multitude_n but_o when_o god_n have_v warn_v they_o who_o will_v pity_v they_o when_o they_o will_v not_o be_v warn_v if_o this_o be_v not_o tell_v we_o and_o that_o by_o god_n himself_o we_o may_v think_v as_o man_n do_v common_o that_o a_o very_a little_a do_v content_v the_o lord_n that_o no_o great_a thing_n be_v require_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o christian_n and_o other_o such_o foolish_a and_o vain_a yet_o it_o be_v but_o a_o waver_a fantasy_n to_o do_v many_o good_a thing_n yet_o they_o proceed_v but_o from_o a_o servile_a mind_n to_o laugh_v and_o rejoice_v yet_o be_v it_o but_o in_o a_o desperate_a madness_n which_o in_o very_a deed_n be_v great_o to_o be_v wonder_v at_o how_o man_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o sport_v themselves_o and_o yet_o to_o speak_v in_o their_o conscience_n after_o this_o manner_n there_o be_v hell_n and_o eternal_a flame_n of_o vengeance_n prepare_v for_o sinner_n and_o i_o be_o not_o sure_a whether_o i_o shall_v escape_v or_o not_o this_o desperate_a and_o brutish_a security_n shall_v be_v apparent_a to_o be_v the_o more_o mad_a if_o we_o compare_v it_o &_o set_v it_o forth_o by_o a_o outward_a comparison_n let_v it_o be_v thus_o a_o man_n be_v take_v in_o a_o robbery_n or_o murder_n imprison_v bring_v before_o the_o judge_n and_o condemn_v by_o suit_n of_o friend_n reprive_v until_o such_o time_n as_o they_o may_v sue_v for_o to_o get_v he_o a_o pardon_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n some_o of_o his_o acquaintance_n come_v to_o this_o murderer_n and_o will_v he_o to_o be_v of_o good_a cheer_n and_o merry_a he_o will_v answer_v unless_o he_o be_v some_o mad_a and_o desperate_a ruffian_n i_o be_o condemn_v to_o the_o gallows_n the_o judge_n have_v pronounce_v the_o sentence_n of_o death_n upon_o i_o i_o know_v not_o how_o hard_o a_o thing_n it_o will_v be_v to_o obtain_v a_o pardon_n i_o stand_v in_o great_a doubt_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n i_o can_v be_v merry_a unless_o i_o may_v know_v for_o certainty_n that_o i_o shall_v escape_v if_o i_o do_v once_o know_v that_o i_o can_v be_v as_o merry_a as_o any_o man_n that_o live_v before_o that_o time_n i_o may_v seem_v to_o laugh_v but_o my_o heart_n be_v full_a of_o fear_n and_o sorrow_n and_o be_v it_o not_o thus_o with_o we_o all_o be_v we_o not_o all_o of_o we_o guilty_a and_o already_o condemn_v by_o the_o sentence_n of_o the_o high_a judge_n not_o to_o some_o torment_n of_o one_o day_n or_o short_a continuance_n but_o to_o the_o fire_n that_o shall_v never_o be_v quench_v when_o man_n can_v be_v merry_a therefore_o and_o laugh_v even_o in_o those_o thing_n which_o cause_n this_o destruction_n and_o yet_o do_v feel_v that_o they_o be_v not_o sure_a to_o escape_v this_o dreadful_a vengeance_n be_v it_o not_o a_o mad_a mirth_n and_o a_o desperate_a laughter_n in_o which_o if_o they_o be_v not_o become_v very_o senseless_a block_n they_o shall_v feel_v many_o gripe_n at_o the_o heart_n which_o will_v mar_v all_o their_o mirth_n yea_o a_o worm_n lord_n but_o it_o may_v be_v demand_v how_o this_o can_v agree_v with_o other_o say_n in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n which_o do_v plain_o teach_v that_o god_n choose_v who_o he_o will_v of_o his_o own_o free_a grace_n for_o which_o saint_n paul_n allege_v out_o of_o moses_n that_o god_n will_v have_v mercy_n on_o whosoever_o he_o will_v have_v mercy_n and_o who_o he_o will_v he_o harden_v add_v thereupon_o that_o it_o be_v neither_o of_o he_o that_o will_v nor_o yet_o of_o he_o that_o run_v but_o of_o god_n which_o show_v mercy_n again_o the_o
to_o let_v the_o world_n see_v our_o faith_n and_o love_n towards_o god_n by_o our_o good_a work_n likewise_o be_v there_o any_o great_a love_n which_o can_v be_v show_v towards_o man_n then_o when_o be_v too_o base_a or_o as_o if_o the_o care_n of_o their_o family_n be_v a_o thing_n over_o vile_a they_o set_v these_o aside_o and_o neglect_v they_o and_o take_v upon_o they_o great_a and_o high_a business_n for_o behold_v any_o thing_n amiss_o in_o the_o church_n as_o if_o god_n have_v set_v they_o to_o be_v overseer_n of_o the_o governor_n and_o teacher_n contrary_a unto_o this_o rule_n of_o saint_n paul_n they_o labour_v not_o with_o their_o hand_n nor_o meddle_v quiet_o with_o their_o own_o business_n but_o they_o bend_v all_o the_o power_n of_o their_o mind_n to_o dispute_v and_o of_o our_o god_n that_o man_n shall_v instruct_v &_o guide_v their_o family_n in_o his_o way_n be_v there_o not_o labour_n and_o pain_n and_o care_n to_o be_v take_v that_o the_o child_n and_o servant_n may_v learn_v the_o holy_a doctrine_n and_o walk_n in_o it_o but_o there_o be_v many_o which_o deep_o meddle_v in_o public_a matter_n and_o if_o they_o have_v two_o or_o three_o child_n and_o as_o many_o servant_n they_o be_v leave_v ignorant_a no_o pain_n take_v about_o they_o they_o may_v walk_v awry_o many_o way_n the_o care_n thereof_o be_v little_a also_o a_o man_n own_o matter_n which_o saint_n paul_n will_v to_o meddle_v with_o be_v in_o provide_v earthly_a thing_n necessary_a for_o his_o family_n so_o that_o saint_n paul_n say_v if_o there_o be_v any_o that_o provide_v not_o for_o his_o own_o namely_o for_o they_o of_o his_o family_n he_o deni_v the_o faith_n and_o be_v worse_a than_o a_o infidel_n 1._o timoth._n 5.8_o and_o so_o in_o other_o duty_n
