people_n that_o they_o have_v continual_o have_v faithful_a steward_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o god_n 4._o the_o providence_n of_o god_n be_v admirable_a in_o preserve_v man_n in_o his_o spiritual_a capacity_n in_o the_o daily_a influence_n of_o his_o spirit_n attend_v his_o word_n and_o sanctify_v his_o institution_n the_o word_n be_v in_o itself_o but_o a_o dead_a letter_n the_o preach_v of_o the_o word_n be_v far_o from_o a_o mean_a adequate_a to_o so_o great_a a_o effect_n as_o be_v the_o conversion_n and_o edification_n of_o soul_n god_n be_v therefore_o please_v to_o join_v his_o quicken_a spirit_n to_o the_o word_n where_o he_o please_v blessing_n and_o sanctify_v it_o i_o be_o not_o of_o their_o judgement_n who_o think_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o constant_a the_o empire_n and_o kingdom_n in_o all_o the_o city_n and_o town_n in_o it_o defeat_v ahitophels_n discover_v plot_n and_o conspiracy_n rule_v the_o spirit_n of_o unruly_a man_n so_o as_o the_o enormity_n and_o then_o stand_v and_o wonder_n at_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n that_o in_o any_o part_n of_o the_o world_n there_o be_v any_o thing_n of_o order_n and_o decorum_n observe_v that_o man_n have_v any_o thing_n which_o they_o can_v call_v their_o own_o that_o the_o life_n of_o prince_n or_o sober_a people_n be_v secure_v what_o can_v it_o be_v attribute_v to_o but_o the_o mighty_a power_n of_o divine_a providence_n that_o we_o have_v no_o more_o murder_n rape_n theft_n etc._n etc._n we_o see_v law_n punishment_n will_v not_o restrain_v all_o nor_o the_o same_o man_n at_o all_o time_n how_o or_o whence_o be_v it_o that_o they_o restrain_v any_o or_o at_o any_o time_n i_o will_v conclude_v this_o with_o what_o the_o psalmist_n so_o often_o make_v the_o foot_n in_o that_o his_o admirable_a song_n of_o providence_n psal_n 107_o oh_o that_o man_n will_v praise_v the_o lord_n for_o his_o goodness_n for_o his_o wonderful_a work_n to_o the_o child_n of_o man_n oh_o that_o the_o general_a providence_n of_o god_n in_o govern_v all_o justify_v he_o as_o to_o his_o power_n to_o be_v the_o true_a and_o sole_a object_n of_o our_o confidence_n we_o can_v trust_v in_o none_o else_o but_o may_v be_v control_v the_o great_a prince_n of_o the_o earth_n be_v but_o man_n under_o the_o authority_n of_o one_o who_o be_v high_o than_o they_o and_o a_o man_n trust_n in_o they_o ofttimes_o be_v but_o like_o the_o jew_n trust_v in_o egypt_n which_o the_o prophet_n compare_v to_o a_o lean_v to_o a_o bruise_a reed_n and_o upon_o a_o break_a staff_n which_o be_v not_o able_a to_o bear_v the_o weight_n of_o a_o man_n body_n but_o if_o he_o lean_v upon_o they_o they_o will_v run_v into_o his_o hand_n if_o god_n be_v against_o we_o man_n can_v protect_v from_o he_o nor_o deliver_v out_o of_o his_o hand_n therefore_o say_v the_o psalmist_n psalm_n 118.8_o 9_o it_o be_v better_a to_o trust_v in_o the_o lord_n than_o to_o put_v confidence_n in_o man_n it_o be_v better_a to_o trust_v in_o the_o lord_n than_o to_o put_v confidence_n in_o prince_n but_o he_o who_o kingdom_n be_v over_o all_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o proper_a object_n of_o our_o confidence_n and_o as_o our_o confidence_n in_o god_n be_v warrant_v from_o general_a providence_n as_o to_o the_o power_n of_o god_n so_o as_o to_o his_o love_n it_o be_v secure_v from_o special_a providence_n but_o of_o that_o i_o hope_v to_o speak_v distinct_o only_o a_o word_n here_o lest_o any_o shall_v say_v but_o although_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v over_o all_o so_o that_o upon_o the_o account_n of_o his_o power_n i_o may_v trust_v in_o he_o yet_o how_o do_v it_o appear_v his_o power_n shall_v be_v put_v forth_o for_o i_o i_o shall_v but_o offer_v four_o meditation_n to_o you_o 1._o that_o the_o that_o god_n be_v more_o glorify_v by_o his_o church_n and_o by_o his_o saint_n than_o by_o all_o the_o creation_n beside_o god_n be_v mute_o and_o passive_o glorify_v by_o other_o creature_n but_o in_o his_o temple_n man_n speak_v of_o his_o glory_n the_o child_n of_o man_n and_o among_o they_o only_o those_o who_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n do_v voluntary_o and_o out_o of_o choice_n bring_v glory_n to_o god_n god_n if_o i_o may_v so_o speak_v wrest_v his_o glory_n from_o other_o as_o from_o pharaoh_n etc._n etc._n god_n indeed_o in_o some_o sense_n may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v active_o and_o voluntary_o glorify_v by_o all_o professor_n but_o only_o by_o that_o little_a flock_n who_o he_o have_v choose_v to_o himself_o with_o a_o full_a intention_n voluntary_o and_o sincere_o they_o be_v the_o favourite_n of_o he_o who_o kingdom_n be_v over_o all_o suppose_v then_o god_n to_o have_v a_o dominion_n and_o government_n over_o all_o and_o to_o be_v continual_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o it_o sure_o if_o haman_n can_v say_v who_o shall_v the_o king_n delight_n to_o honour_n but_o i_o they_o may_v with_o much_o better_a right_n and_o advantage_n say_v for_o who_o shall_v the_o great_a king_n of_o king_n and_o lord_n of_o lord_n exercise_v a_o rule_n and_o a_o dominion_n for_o who_o advantage_n shall_v the_o lord_n govern_v the_o world_n if_o not_o for_o those_o who_o most_o
