by_o that_o covenant_n and_o not_o by_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n whereas_o i_o say_v both_o these_o be_v propound_v and_o yet_o i_o handle_v but_o one_o of_o they_o the_o reason_n of_o my_o so_o do_v be_v partly_o because_o i_o see_v the_o treatise_n to_o exceed_v in_o bulk_n what_o i_o expect_v in_o the_o beginning_n partly_o because_o the_o handle_n of_o the_o former_a alone_o do_v answer_v the_o end_n which_o in_o the_o beginning_n be_v aim_v at_o which_o be_v to_o open_v the_o nature_n and_o substance_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o partly_o also_o because_o this_o be_v my_o first_o adventure_n in_o this_o kind_n if_o this_o which_o i_o have_v do_v shall_v find_v acceptance_n with_o the_o saint_n i_o may_v add_v the_o rest_n in_o due_a time_n if_o the_o lord_n give_v actual_a accomplishment_n of_o good_a thing_n intend_v but_o it_o must_v aforehand_o overflow_v and_o break_v out_o into_o the_o many_o stream_n of_o a_o bless_a covenant_n the_o lord_n can_v never_o get_v near_o enough_o to_o his_o people_n and_o think_v he_o can_v never_o get_v they_o near_o enough_o unto_o himself_o and_o therefore_o unite_v and_o bind_v and_o fasten_v they_o close_o to_o himself_o and_o himself_o unto_o they_o by_o the_o bond_n of_o a_o covenant_n and_o therefore_o when_o we_o break_v our_o covenant_n and_o that_o will_v not_o hold_v we_o he_o take_v a_o fast_a bond_n and_o make_v a_o sure_a and_o everlasting_a covenant_n according_a to_o grace_n not_o according_a to_o work_n and_o that_o shall_v hold_v his_o people_n firm_a unto_o himself_o and_o hold_v himself_o close_o and_o fast_o unto_o they_o that_o he_o may_v never_o depart_v from_o we_o oh_o the_o depth_n of_o god_n grace_n herein_o that_o when_o sinful_a man_n deserve_v never_o to_o have_v the_o least_o good_a word_n from_o he_o that_o he_o shall_v open_v his_o whole_a heart_n and_o purpose_n to_o he_o in_o a_o covenant_n that_o when_o he_o deserve_v nothing_o else_o but_o separation_n from_o these_o day_n for_o be_v there_o not_o some_o who_o cut_v off_o the_o entail_n to_o child_n of_o those_o in_o covenant_n and_o so_o lessen_v &_o shorten_v the_o riches_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o lord_n new_a or_o rather_o another_o gospel_n or_o covenant_n viz_o that_o actual_a remission_n of_o sin_n and_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n purchase_v indeed_o in_o redemption_n by_o christ_n death_n be_v without_o nay_o before_o faith_n the_o condition_n though_o wrought_v of_o god_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n express_o oppose_v to_o the_o law_n or_o covenant_n of_o work_n rom._n 3.27_o and_o covenant_n of_o grace_n but_o the_o principal_a and_o weighty_a consideration_n be_v to_o set_v down_o the_o proper_a difference_n between_o thâ—m_n which_o some_o have_v go_v about_o to_o darken_v and_o obscure_v and_o do_v make_v they_o agree_v too_o near_o and_o so_o make_v a_o compound_n of_o both_o covenant_n aâ—_n if_o one_o shall_v mix_v wine_n and_o water_n together_o whereby_o they_o do_v disannul_v the_o nature_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o grâ—â—â—_n and_o tuâ—â—â—_n it_o into_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n herein_o therefore_o â—ee_o â—usâ—_n labour_v the_o more_o careful_o to_o set_v down_o the_o true_a and_o real_a difference_n between_o they_o which_o be_v do_v we_o shall_v see_v the_o nature_n both_o of_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o more_o distinct_o and_o clear_o who_o the_o lord_n will_v separate_v and_o cut_v off_o from_o they_o as_o verse_n 37.38_o god_n may_v threaten_v wrath_n to_o they_o though_o he_o extend_v grace_n and_o mercy_n to_o his_o own_o
