they_o and_o look_v to_o they_o in_o all_o thing_n as_o need_n shall_v require_v whence_o peter_n when_o he_o call_v our_o saviour_n the_o shepherd_n add_v to_o it_o the_o word_n bishop_n which_o signify_v a_o guardian_n especial_o as_o the_o hebrew_n use_v to_o understand_v it_o 1_o pet._n 2.25_o for_o when_o we_o have_v a_o great_a care_n of_o any_o thing_n we_o often_o visit_v inspect_n and_o see_v it_o from_o whence_o arise_v the_o word_n bishop_n which_o proper_o signify_v a_o visitor_n or_o overseer_n he_o that_o desire_v to_o know_v the_o property_n of_o a_o good_a shepherd_n let_v he_o read_v in_o the_o ten_o chapter_n of_o john_n the_o parable_n of_o the_o good_a shepherd_n which_o there_o christ_n apply_v unto_o himself_o the_o article_n that_o prefix_v here_o before_o the_o shepherd_n teach_v we_o that_o he_o be_v no_o ordinary_a or_o vulgar_a shepherd_n but_o a_o eminent_a and_o excellent_a person_n who_o description_n and_o promise_n also_o be_v extant_a ezek._n 24._o but_o the_o addition_n of_o the_o word_n great_a unto_o this_o shepherd_n declare_v his_o excellency_n more_o manifest_o when_o the_o author_n say_v that_o great_a shepherd_n for_o by_o this_o confirm_v and_o seal_v the_o everlasting_a covenant_n for_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o covenant_n be_v that_o blood_n which_o be_v shed_v to_o dedicate_v establish_v and_o confirm_v the_o covenant_n that_o it_o may_v never_o be_v revokeable_a but_o the_o author_n understand_v the_o new_a covenant_n which_o be_v confirm_v by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n whence_o we_o may_v easy_o collect_v how_o certain_a and_o sure_o we_o may_v be_v of_o the_o promise_v contain_v in_o that_o covenant_n if_o we_o perform_v the_o condition_n of_o it_o which_o be_v most_o just_a and_o equal_a when_o he_o call_v this_o covenant_n everlasting_a he_o tacit_o oppose_v it_o to_o the_o old_a covenant_n by_o moses_n which_o be_v not_o to_o continue_v to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n &_o therefore_o be_v not_o proper_o everlasting_a and_o by_o the_o eternity_n of_o this_o covenant_n that_o it_o be_v everlasting_a be_v withal_o intimate_v the_o perfection_n of_o it_o for_o if_o it_o be_v not_o perfect_a it_o
