heavy_a and_o groan_a prayer_n but_o show_v that_o where_o as_o in_o great_a affliction_n the_o wicked_a either_o fall_n into_o despair_n or_o break_v out_o into_o blasphemy_n or_o seek_v unlawful_a mean_n of_o deliveraunce_n therein_o the_o saint_n shall_v be_v take_v themselves_o to_o prayer_n and_o when_o in_o prosperity_n mirth_n and_o rejoice_v worldling_n sing_v filthy_a song_n and_o sonnet_n the_o saint_n of_o god_n dispose_v to_o singe_v shall_v singe_v song_n of_o praise_n and_o thanksgiving_n unto_o god_n and_o so_o prayer_n here_o may_v be_v oppose_v to_o despair_v blasphemy_n seek_v after_o evil_a mean_n and_o sing_v may_v be_v oppose_v to_o the_o immodest_a mirth_n the_o disorder_a joy_n the_o wanton_a and_o filthy_a rejoice_v of_o the_o wicked_a 2._o we_o may_v thus_o answer_v that_o saint_n james_n by_o prayer_n here_o mean_v request_n or_o petition_n by_o sing_v not_o the_o lift_n up_o and_o fall_v down_o of_o the_o voice_n and_o tune_n as_o be_v in_o musical_a song_n but_o a_o plain_a thanks_n give_v to_o god_n for_o his_o benefit_n and_o blessing_n &_o so_o touch_v both_o the_o part_n of_o prayer_n as_o by_o the_o divine_v it_o be_v of_o inward_a infirmity_n and_o disease_n in_o the_o error_n of_o man_n error_n remedy_n of_o inward_a infirmity_n as_o error_n mind_n whereof_o great_a care_n ought_v to_o be_v take_v so_o that_o whether_o they_o err_v in_o manner_n and_o conversation_n or_o in_o faith_n and_o opinion_n touch_v religion_n the_o saint_n and_o brethren_n ought_v to_o seek_v by_o all_o mean_v their_o conversion_n which_o in_o this_o place_n saint_n james_n here_o commend_v unto_o we_o who_o therewith_o end_v and_o shut_v up_o his_o epistle_n as_o with_o a_o most_o golden_a sentence_n and_o grave_a exhortation_n for_o the_o convert_n of_o other_o and_o lead_v they_o into_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n that_o they_o may_v be_v save_v than_o which_o there_o be_v no_o duty_n no_o deed_n no_o action_n more_o precious_a pleasant_a or_o please_v unto_o god_n these_o two_o verse_n contain_v this_o argument_n and_o matter_n have_v two_o thing_n to_o be_v note_v namely_o 1_o the_o counsel_n travail_n and_o endeavour_n to_o call_v such_o as_o go_v astray_o unto_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n 2_o the_o reward_n of_o they_o and_o the_o benefit_n which_o by_o reclaim_v and_o call_v from_o error_n other_o man_n they_o shall_v receyve_v which_o thus_o call_v and_o converte_v their_o brethren_n concern_v then_o this_o exhortation_n touch_v inward_a disease_n and_o infirmity_n of_o the_o mind_n it_o follow_v very_o orderly_o upon_o the_o former_a for_o see_v inward_a disease_n as_o error_n of_o our_o mind_n either_o in_o manner_n &_o life_n or_o in_o opinion_n and_o faith_n be_v oftentimes_o cause_n of_o our_o outward_a infirmity_n and_o disease_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o apostle_n have_v before_o speak_v of_o bodily_a infirmity_n it_o follow_v direct_o that_o he_o speak_v some_o thing_n touch_v disease_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o error_n how_o they_o also_o ought_v to_o be_v deal_v withal_o which_o thing_n in_o the_o last_o place_n and_o last_o word_n be_v prescribe_v therein_o two_o thing_n observe_v thereof_o the_o first_o be_v what_o the_o saint_n ought_v to_o do_v when_o their_o brethren_n err_v and_o go_v astray_o they_o must_v do_v their_o endeavour_n and_o give_v all_o diligence_n to_o reclaim_v convert_v and_o call_v home_o such_o as_o go_v out_o of_o the_o way_n and_o err_v error_n double_a error_n now_o see_v man_n err_v and_o go_v astray_o two_o way_n either_o in_o false_a opinion_n concern_v faith_n or_o in_o corruption_n touch_v life_n in_o both_o these_o must_v the_o saint_n of_o god_n travel_n for_o the_o conversion_n of_o such_o as_o therein_o wander_v of_o who_o error_n this_o be_v the_o only_a remedy_n to_o seek_v their_o connersion_n and_o draw_v into_o the_o way_n of_o truth_n this_o be_v a_o divine_a labour_n this_o be_v a_o holy_a exercise_n this_o be_v a_o heavenly_a travail_n the_o labour_n and_o travail_v to_o purchase_v and_o get_v soul_n and_o win_v they_o to_o god_n holy_a truth_n whereunto_o as_o unto_o a_o most_o needful_a point_n of_o love_n the_o holy_a scripture_n exhort_v us._n wise_a solomon_n speak_v of_o this_o excellent_a labour_n of_o love_n when_o he_o say_v that_o the_o fruit_n of_o 11._o prou._n 11._o the_o righteous_a be_v a_o tree_n of_o life_n and_o he_o that_o win_v soul_n be_v wise_a to_o win_v soul_n in_o this_o place_n be_v to_o bring_v they_o to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o his_o holy_a truth_n and_o as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v the_o convert_n of_o a_o sinner_n from_o go_v astray_o out_o of_o his_o way_n our_o bless_a saviour_n seem_v to_o 1â—_n matt._n 1â—_n have_v aim_v and_o shoot_v as_o it_o be_v hereat_o when_o in_o the_o gospel_n he_o will_v have_v the_o saint_n by_o tell_v the_o offend_a brethren_n of_o their_o private_a offence_n commit_v and_o warn_v they_o thereof_o to_o endeavour_n to_o convert_v they_o from_o their_o error_n which_o if_o private_a admonition_n can_v not_o effect_v then_o they_o shall_v make_v two_o or_o three_o acquaint_v therewith_o if_o that_o can_v not_o prevail_v they_o shall_v tell_v it_o unto_o the_o church_n leave_v no_o mean_a or_o way_n unattempted_a for_o their_o conversion_n where_o he_o speak_v of_o offence_n and_o error_n in_o life_n and_o manner_n saint_n jude_n teach_v the_o saint_n what_o 23_o jude_n v._n 22._o 23_o love_v they_o shall_v have_v of_o their_o brethren_n and_o what_o care_n shall_v press_v their_o heart_n for_o their_o conversion_n will_v that_o they_o shall_v have_v compassion_n upon_o some_o put_v difference_n and_o that_o they_o shall_v save_v other_o with_o fear_n pluck_v they_o out_o of_o the_o fire_n not_o only_o teach_v man_n this_o duty_n to_o seek_v the_o conversion_n of_o the_o brethren_n which_o go_v astray_o and_o wander_v but_o also_o teach_v they_o how_o therein_o they_o shall_v behave_v themselves_o to_o make_v this_o godly_a choice_n therein_o that_o they_o seek_v to_o win_v some_o by_o gentle_a mean_n and_o in_o merciful_a compassion_n other_o by_o terror_n and_o godly_a severity_n thus_o by_o all_o possible_a mean_n must_v we_o seek_v the_o turn_n and_o conversion_n of_o our_o brethren_n do_v not_o god_n intimate_v that_o in_o his_o law_n when_o he_o v._n exod._n 23._o deut._n 22._o 1._o &_o 4._o v._n bid_v that_o when_o we_o see_v our_o neighbour_n ox_n or_o ass_n or_o beast_n whatsoever_o ready_a to_o fall_v into_o a_o ditch_n and_o danger_n wherein_o he_o may_v perish_v then_o we_o shall_v hold_v they_o from_o hurt_n keep_v they_o from_o perish_v and_o pluck_v they_o out_o of_o danger_n have_v god_n care_n of_o ox_n and_o not_o much_o more_o of_o man_n shall_v we_o draw_v a_o ox_n out_o of_o the_o pit_n wherein_o he_o may_v perish_v and_o shall_v we_o not_o draw_v our_o brethren_n out_o of_o their_o error_n
