their_o soul_n have_v mourn_v and_o melt_v more_o than_o ever_o they_o do_v before_o in_o the_o apprehension_n of_o horror_n and_o fear_n of_o god_n wrath_n and_o all_o upon_o this_o because_o they_o do_v not_o see_v sin_n to_o be_v a_o evil_n only_o as_o it_o bring_v danger_n of_o punishment_n but_o they_o do_v see_v the_o evil_n of_o sin_n as_o against_o a_o god_n as_o i_o have_v wrong_v god_n stroke_n at_o the_o infinite_a glorious_a first-being_a of_o all_o thing_n and_o this_o will_v abide_v upon_o the_o heart_n therefore_o this_o be_v another_o manner_n of_o trouble_n for_o sin_n than_o the_o other_o and_o because_o this_o trouble_n for_o sin_n be_v so_o effectual_a and_o so_o good_a therefore_o it_o be_v that_o i_o have_v endeavour_v the_o more_o to_o open_v unto_o you_o how_o sin_n be_v against_o god_n therefore_o when_o i_o come_v to_o the_o other_o to_o show_v how_o it_o be_v against_o ourselves_o i_o shall_v be_v but_o brief_a in_o that_o because_o i_o know_v that_o this_o or_o a_o woman_n that_o apprehend_v never_o so_o much_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n against_o sin_n
upon_o and_o thou_o will_v be_v glad_a to_o tamper_v withal_o can_v thou_o be_v sure_a it_o shall_v not_o be_v know_v and_o thou_o shall_v not_o be_v bring_v to_o shame_v for_o it_o and_o have_v the_o displeasure_n of_o such_o a_o friend_n thou_o can_v find_v in_o thy_o heart_n to_o be_v meddle_v with_o it_o can_v thou_o oh_o know_v thou_o have_v a_o base_a heart_n that_o have_v no_o other_o ground_n to_o keep_v thou_o from_o sin_n withal_o whereas_o know_v if_o thou_o be_v a_o christian_a indeed_o and_o that_o god_n have_v aright_o make_v know_v sin_n to_o thou_o thou_o will_v rise_v high_o oh_o i_o be_o to_o deal_v with_o god_n a_o infinite_a glorious_a first-being_a and_o if_o it_o be_v sin_n only_o that_o strike_v at_o this_o infinite_a glorious_a eternal_a first-being_a of_o all_o thing_n then_o i_o will_v avoid_v sin_n whatsoever_o become_v of_o i_o yea_o whatsoever_o i_o suffer_v i_o will_v not_o have_v to_o do_v with_o it_o this_o be_v a_o raise_a spirit_n this_o it_o though_o young_a think_v it_o a_o dishonour_n to_o god_n well_o they_o plead_v and_o reason_n with_o he_o tell_v he_o it_o be_v best_a in_o state_n policy_n and_o other_o ground_n they_o use_v not_o do_v any_o thing_n against_o god_n he_o can_v not_o answer_v the_o bishop_n that_o come_v so_o subtle_o but_o instead_o of_o answer_v their_o reason_n he_o burst_v out_o with_o tear_n and_o then_o they_o be_v convince_v and_o confess_v the_o king_n have_v more_o divinity_n in_o his_o little_a finger_n than_o they_o have_v in_o all_o their_o body_n so_o i_o apply_v it_o to_o you_o young_a one_o perhaps_o temptation_n to_o that_o which_o be_v a_o sin_n against_o god_n come_v subtle_o strengthen_v with_o this_o argument_n and_o the_o other_o argument_n but_o if_o you_o have_v your_o heart_n possess_v with_o this_o truth_n it_o be_v a_o sin_n against_o god_n oh_o when_o you_o can_v answer_v the_o particular_n of_o temptation_n burst_v out_o and_o weep_v and_o cry_n either_o for_o this_o man_n that_o live_v in_o a_o mean_a condition_n their_o meanness_n consist_v in_o this_o that_o they_o spend_v all_o their_o day_n in_o converse_n with_o bruit_n beast_n and_o turn_v the_o make_v they_o of_o such_o a_o noble_a nature_n that_o when_o other_o be_v in_o base_a act_n of_o uncleanness_n that_o know_v no_o other_o way_n of_o rejoice_v in_o time_n of_o joy_n but_o laugh_v for_o his_o life_n now_o that_o which_o strike_v at_o the_o high_a life_n even_o the_o life_n of_o god_n and_o make_v the_o creature_n appear_v so_o vile_a before_o god_n as_o certain_o sin_n make_v the_o creature_n more_o vile_a than_o any_o dead_a carrion_n that_o lie_v stink_v in_o a_o ditch_n sin_n be_v more_o vile_a in_o god_n eye_n than_o any_o dead_a dog_n on_o the_o dunghill_n be_v in_o your_o eye_n this_o be_v the_o three_o particular_a how_o sin_n be_v most_o opposite_a to_o man_n good_a more_o than_o affliction_n therefore_o a_o man_n be_v better_o bear_v the_o great_a affliction_n than_o commit_v the_o least_o sin_n because_o affliction_n never_o strike_v at_o the_o life_n of_o god_n nay_o many_o live_v not_o the_o life_n of_o god_n so_o glorious_o as_o they_o do_v in_o affliction_n many_o seem_v to_o have_v their_o heart_n dead_a in_o time_n of_o prosperity_n but_o when_o affliction_n come_v then_o they_o manifest_v a_o glorious_a life_n of_o god_n chap._n ingenuous_a spirit_n more_o from_o sin_n than_o all_o the_o evil_n and_o torment_n of_o hell_n it_o be_v more_o against_o man_n last_n end_n now_o we_o use_v to_o say_v the_o end_n and_o the_o good_a of_o a_o thing_n be_v the_o same_o that_o which_o be_v the_o last_o end_n be_v better_a than_o the_o thing_n itself_o therefore_o whatsoever_o strike_v at_o the_o last_o end_n be_v the_o great_a evil_n of_o all_o that_o be_v the_o happiness_n of_o any_o creature_n to_o enjoy_v its_o last_o end_n as_o thus_o the_o great_a good_a or_o the_o last_o end_n of_o a_o plant_n or_o a_o tree_n be_v to_o flourish_v and_o bear_v fruit_n and_o be_v sit_v for_o the_o service_n of_o man_n this_o be_v its_o end_n and_o what_o be_v the_o evil_a of_o a_o tree_n when_o it_o come_v to_o flourish_v and_o when_o fruit_n hang_v full_a upon_o it_o if_o it_o be_v blast_v and_o never_o come_v to_o attain_v to_o its_o utmost_a end_n to_o be_v serviceable_a for_o that_o for_o which_o it_o be_v appoint_v that_o be_v the_o evil_a of_o it_o and_o we_o account_v it_o a_o great_a evil_n if_o we_o see_v this_o flourish_a tree_n when_o it_o be_v full_a of_o fruit_n if_o before_o it_o come_v to_o maturity_n it_o be_v blast_v so_o look_v upon_o man_n end_n and_o if_o that_o be_v blast_v that_o be_v his_o great_a evil_n now_o the_o end_n of_o man_n be_v this_o to_o live_v to_o the_o eternal_a praise_n of_o but_o by_o show_v you_o the_o excellency_n of_o man_n last_o end_n now_o the_o excellency_n of_o man_n last_o end_n i_o mean_v the_o good_a god_n have_v make_v man_n for_o it_o appear_v in_o this_o 1_o it_o be_v such_o a_o kind_n of_o excellency_n as_o be_v worthy_a of_o all_o the_o good_a that_o there_o be_v in_o man_n nature_n or_o that_o man_n nature_n be_v capable_a of_o for_o the_o end_n and_o happiness_n of_o any_o thing_n must_v be_v that_o that_o must_v have_v as_o much_o excellency_n in_o it_o that_o all_o in_o the_o thing_n must_v tend_v to_o the_o make_n of_o he_o happy_a man_n nature_n be_v capable_a of_o the_o image_n and_o life_n of_o god_n now_o that_o which_o must_v be_v the_o happiness_n of_o such_o a_o creature_n must_v be_v worthy_a of_o such_o a_o excellency_n as_o the_o image_n of_o god_n and_o the_o life_n of_o god_n in_o man_n therefore_o it_o must_v be_v a_o very_a high_a and_o glorious_a excellency_n 2_o that_o which_o be_v man_n happiness_n and_o end_n do_v not_o mean_v that_o it_o deserve_v eternal_a evil_n only_o but_o of_o itself_o it_o be_v eternal_a evil_n as_o thus_o grace_n do_v not_o only_o deserve_v eternal_a happiness_n but_o it_o be_v the_o seed_n of_o eternal_a happiness_n it_o be_v that_o principle_n that_o if_o let_v alone_o will_v grow_v to_o eternal_a happiness_n so_o sin_n do_v not_o only_o deserve_v eternal_a misery_n but_o it_o be_v the_o seed_n of_o eternal_a evil_n and_o sin_n itself_o will_v be_v executioner_n upon_o the_o soul_n and_o will_v prove_v a_o intolerable_a misery_n to_o the_o soul_n though_o sin_n be_v the_o very_a element_n in_o which_o many_o man_n and_o woman_n live_v and_o so_o delight_v themselves_o yet_o be_v it_o know_v that_o this_o sin_n do_v not_o only_o deserve_v that_o god_n shall_v bring_v his_o wrath_n upon_o thou_o for_o it_o but_o that_o sin_n will_v prove_v eternal_a torment_n to_o thou_o as_o thus_o the_o fish_n that_o play_v and_o leap_v in_o the_o water_n the_o water_n be_v the_o element_n to_o the_o fish_n that_o it_o delight_n in_o but_o if_o you_o put_v fire_n under_o this_o water_n if_o in_o a_o vessel_n than_o that_o water_n that_o be_v the_o element_n in_o which_o the_o fish_n skip_v and_o play_v and_o delight_v itself_o that_o water_n will_v be_v torture_n and_o torment_v to_o the_o fish_n boil_v hot_a so_o sin_n be_v the_o element_n where_o man_n play_v and_o delight_n in_o sinful_a way_n as_o the_o fish_n in_o the_o water_n but_o when_o god_n come_v and_o mingle_v wrath_n with_o sin_n than_o that_o very_a sin_n which_o be_v thy_o delight_n shall_v be_v torture_n and_o torment_n and_o so_o a_o principle_n of_o eternal_a evil_n it_o shall_v be_v to_o you_o thus_o sin_n be_v another_o manner_n of_o evil_n than_o affliction_n as_o thus_o affliction_n though_o in_o disease_n they_o bring_v pain_n and_o sorrow_n to_o the_o body_n the_o matter_n of_o this_o will_v wear_v out_o in_o time_n and_o so_o the_o disease_n will_v fall_v but_o sin_n be_v such_o a_o principal_a evil_n and_o misery_n to_o the_o creature_n as_o it_o will_v never_o go_v out_o but_o continue_v a_o principal_a of_o eternal_a misery_n thus_o you_o have_v see_v sin_n be_v against_o thy_o own_o good_a use_v 2._o again_o hence_o you_o see_v that_o the_o minestry_n of_o the_o word_n be_v that_o that_o be_v for_o our_o good_a and_o that_o that_o make_v for_o word_n their_o spirit_n rise_v against_o it_o but_o when_o it_o have_v please_v god_n to_o get_v away_o their_o sin_n though_o upon_o hard_a term_n they_o have_v blessed_v god_n that_o ever_o they_o hear_v the_o word_n that_o do_v trouble_v they_o or_o ever_o see_v such_o a_o man_n face_n i_o remember_v a_o expression_n of_o one_o to_o myself_o that_o when_o he_o sit_v and_o hear_v i_o he_o be_v hand_n upon_o they_o in_o some_o affliction_n than_o there_o have_v be_v bring_v to_o their_o remembrance_n such_o a_o truth_n that_o they_o hear_v such_o a_o time_n and_o then_o they_o have_v acknowledge_v the_o power_n of_o the_o word_n and_o conscience_n have_v then_o be_v awaken_v and_o not_o before_o i_o remember_v it_o be_v report_v of_o beza_n that_o famous_a instrument_n of_o god_n in_o the_o church_n that_o be_v a_o papist_n and_o live_v in_o paris_n and_o in_o great_a honour_n as_o he_o be_v there_o be_v a_o man_n of_o great_a esteem_n and_o good_a birth_n and_o have_v preferment_n there_o yet_o he_o have_v often_o time_o misgive_a thought_n that_o he_o be_v not_o right_a that_o the_o popish_a religion_n be_v not_o right_a and_o that_o the_o protestant_n be_v in_o the_o right_n because_o he_o have_v read_v the_o scripture_n and_o compare_v the_o controversy_n yet_o because_o of_o his_o great_a honour_n and_o preferment_n in_o paris_n all_o go_v away_o and_o can_v not_o prevail_v but_o god_n lay_v upon_o he_o a_o great_a sickness_n and_o great_a affliction_n and_o then_o that_o which_o he_o have_v but_o overly_o upon_o his_o spirit_n before_o now_o sink_v into_o his_o heart_n more_o deep_o that_o as_o soon_o as_o he_o begin_v to_o recover_v he_o leave_v paris_n and_o all_o his_o preferment_n and_o get_v to_o genevah_n and_o there_o make_v public_a profession_n of_o the_o truth_n thus_o affliction_n further_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n but_o it_o be_v otherwise_o with_o sin_n that_o if_o let_v alone_o harden_v the_o heart_n desperate_o against_o all_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n though_o it_o be_v true_a god_n may_v sometime_o put_v forth_o his_o almighty_a power_n and_o notwithstanding_o all_o the_o sin_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n he_o may_v make_v the_o mean_n of_o grace_n effectual_a though_o man_n heart_n be_v never_o so_o stout_a and_o stubborn_a in_o their_o way_n of_o sin_n yet_o god_n may_v please_v to_o come_v by_o his_o almighty_a power_n and_o over_o power_n the_o heart_n as_o he_o do_v many_o time_n yea_o god_n sometime_o let_v man_n go_v on_o in_o horrible_a wickedness_n to_o manifest_v his_o power_n efficacy_n of_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n but_o yet_o we_o be_v to_o know_v that_o sin_n and_o every_o sin_n of_o its_o own_o nature_n do_v harden_v the_o heart_n against_o god_n in_o the_o use_n of_o all_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n yea_o and_o so_o harden_v the_o heart_n that_o if_o man_n and_o woman_n live_v any_o long_a time_n under_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n and_o
text_n say_v christ_n speak_v it_o because_o they_o say_v he_o have_v a_o unclean_a spirit_n mark_v christ_n cast_v out_o devil_n the_o scribe_n and_o the_o pharisee_n attribute_v this_o to_o a_o unclean_a spirit_n and_o therefore_o they_o sin_v against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n mere_o because_o they_o attribute_v that_o which_o christ_n do_v by_o the_o finger_n of_o god_n to_o a_o unclean_a spirit_n and_o therefore_o christ_n tell_v they_o they_o sin_v against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o they_o shall_v never_o be_v forgive_v now_o brethren_n see_v how_o near_o you_o come_v to_o this_o never_o know_v what_o it_o be_v for_o one_o half_a hour_n to_o be_v serious_a in_o their_o thought_n all_o their_o life_n many_o that_o be_v sanguine_a be_v of_o a_o light_n vain_a spirit_n and_o it_o be_v a_o heavy_a judgement_n of_o god_n to_o be_v give_v over_o to_o a_o light_n vain_a spirit_n that_o consider_v nothing_o now_o when_o god_n make_v use_v of_o this_o particular_a degree_n of_o melancholy_a to_o make_v man_n and_o woman_n serious_a to_o consider_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o they_o another_o day_n what_o the_o term_n between_o god_n and_o they_o be_v what_o if_o i_o be_v now_o to_o die_v and_o what_o if_o i_o be_v now_o to_o stand_v before_o god_n then_o it_o be_v a_o good_a help_n to_o this_o work_n but_o yet_o because_o this_o work_n be_v a_o work_n beyond_o any_o melancholy_a conceit_n we_o shall_v give_v you_o in_o the_o difference_n but_o yet_o further_o it_o must_v be_v acknowledge_v when_o god_n come_v with_o trouble_n of_o conscience_n it_o may_v be_v 6._o trouble_v of_o conscience_n can_v be_v cure_v the_o way_n melancholy_a may_v first_o melancholy_a it_o be_v many_o time_n in_o man_n and_o woman_n where_o there_o be_v most_o gross_a ignorance_n of_o god_n and_o of_o sin_n and_o of_o the_o thing_n of_o their_o eternal_a estate_n it_o may_v consist_v with_o gross_a ignorance_n many_o melancholy_a people_n be_v most_o ignorant_a and_o sottish_a and_o know_v nothing_o of_o the_o principle_n of_o religion_n but_o trouble_n of_o conscience_n can_v never_o come_v without_o some_o new_a light_n of_o god_n dart_v in_o and_o settle_v upon_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n it_o come_v always_o with_o some_o enlighten_v work_n of_o the_o spirit_n melancholy_n be_v many_o time_n with_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o darkness_n within_o the_o mind_n be_v dark_a where_o melancholy_a prevail_v and_o many_o time_n gross_a ignorance_n but_o never_o any_o true_a trouble_n of_o conscience_n but_o god_n come_v in_o with_o some_o light_n and_o therefore_o if_o any_o man_n or_o woman_n be_v trouble_v and_o say_v it_o be_v for_o sin_n i_o put_v this_o to_o you_o what_o have_v god_n discover_v to_o you_o now_o more_o than_o before_o what_o truth_n of_o god_n have_v god_n settle_v upon_o their_o heart_n more_o than_o before_o if_o they_o can_v give_v no_o further_o account_v of_o no_o other_o light_n let_v into_o they_o than_o before_o or_o further_a truth_n let_v in_o upon_o their_o heart_n than_o before_o then_o indeed_o it_o may_v be_v suspect_v not_o to_o be_v trouble_n for_o sin_n as_o many_o melancholy_a people_n have_v the_o name_n of_o be_v trouble_v for_o sin_n and_o they_o have_v fear_n of_o hell_n because_o of_o dark_a thought_n but_o it_o be_v not_o the_o true_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n upon_o the_o soul_n except_o it_o be_v with_o convincement_n of_o some_o new_a light_n or_o settle_v some_o truth_n more_o upon_o the_o soul_n than_o before_o second_o melancholliness_n come_v by_o degree_n upon_o man_n and_o woman_n alteration_n of_o the_o body_n be_v not_o sudden_a thing_n the_o temper_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n body_n can_v sudden_o be_v alter_v to_o any_o extremity_n but_o gradual_o from_o one_o degree_n to_o another_o but_o trouble_n of_o conscience_n come_v many_o time_n as_o a_o flash_n of_o lightning_n from_o heaven_n many_o man_n and_o woman_n have_v come_v to_o the_o congregation_n with_o scornful_a spirit_n profane_a wicked_a and_o ungodly_a never_o know_v what_o sin_n mean_v nor_o trouble_v for_o sin_n mean_v and_o god_n have_v meet_v with_o they_o in_o the_o word_n and_o fasten_v some_o sentence_n upon_o their_o heart_n so_o that_o they_o fall_v down_o under_o the_o power_n of_o it_o that_o come_v just_a as_o a_o arrow_n strike_v into_o their_o liver_n and_o they_o can_v never_o get_v out_o of_o it_o &_o have_v go_v away_o with_o horror_n of_o soul_n and_o therefore_o this_o have_v not_o be_v melancholliness_n certain_o the_o humour_n of_o the_o body_n never_o so_o sudden_o alter_v the_o spirit_n of_o man_n but_o when_o god_n come_v to_o work_v when_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o bondage_n come_v to_o work_v it_o need_v no_o matter_n before_o no_o preparative_n matter_n for_o the_o work_n of_o the_o word_n be_v such_o as_o it_o work_v immediate_o without_o any_o preparation_n therefore_o many_o man_n that_o understand_v as_o little_a of_o trouble_n of_o conscience_n as_o ever_o any_o do_v in_o their_o life_n and_o yet_o god_n let_v some_o truth_n reach_v they_o
sin_n that_o have_v so_o much_o evil_n in_o it_o we_o must_v clear_v god_n that_o he_o be_v not_o the_o cause_n of_o sin_n in_o any_o but_o to_o show_v how_o far_o god_n have_v a_o hand_n in_o sin_n this_o will_v require_v a_o long_a time_n to_o open_v which_o i_o can_v now_o do_v 2_o to_o show_v how_o much_o dreadfulness_n there_o be_v in_o this_o misery_n to_o be_v give_v up_o to_o sin_n to_o open_a to_o you_o the_o dreadfulness_n of_o spiritual_a judgement_n will_v require_v a_o long_a time_n also_o therefore_o because_o i_o have_v resolve_v to_o make_v a_o end_n of_o this_o at_o this_o last_o as_o have_v several_a branch_n use_v xvi_o therefore_o if_o there_o be_v more_o evil_a in_o sin_n than_o in_o affliction_n hence_o what_o a_o miserable_a condition_n be_v those_o in_o that_o have_v both_o these_o evil_n upon_o they_o and_o that_o in_o a_o high_a degree_n that_o affliction_n do_v make_v a_o man_n in_o a_o very_a sad_a and_o miserable_a condition_n that_o sense_n teach_v man_n and_o woman_n every_o one_o do_v account_v those_o man_n and_o woman_n that_o be_v under_o great_a affliction_n to_o be_v under_o great_a misery_n well_o but_o now_o you_o have_v hear_v in_o these_o many_o sermon_n how_o that_o there_o be_v another_o evil_n great_a than_o all_o affliction_n now_o then_o what_o if_o both_o these_o evil_n come_v together_o and_o concur_v both_o together_o to_o make_v a_o man_n miserable_a then_o he_o be_v a_o miserable_a man_n every_o way_n then_o he_o be_v a_o miserable_a man_n to_o sense_n and_o reason_n of_o man_n to_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o world_n and_o then_o he_o be_v a_o miserable_a man_n in_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n too_o in_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n and_o the_o saint_n in_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o word_n when_o both_o shall_v come_v and_o join_v together_o to_o make_v a_o man_n to_o be_v miserable_a sure_o these_o be_v miserable_a person_n indeed_o if_o a_o child_n of_o god_n see_v a_o man_n in_o affliction_n he_o will_v not_o present_o judge_v he_o miserable_a because_o he_o do_v not_o know_v it_o may_v be_v he_o be_v godly_a if_o he_o be_v godly_a he_o be_v not_o miserable_a though_o he_o be_v afflict_v but_o the_o world_n present_o judge_v he_o miserable_a because_o afflict_a on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o world_n judge_v he_o not_o miserable_a though_o he_o be_v sinful_a if_o he_o be_v not_o afflict_v on_o the_o one_o hand_n the_o godly_a man_n judge_v that_o man_n in_o affliction_n not_o miserable_a if_o not_o sinful_a on_o the_o other_o hand_n the_o world_n judge_v that_o man_n not_o miserable_a that_o be_v not_o afflict_v though_o he_o be_v sinful_a but_o now_o when_o both_o these_o be_v together_o in_o one_o man_n as_o a_o sinful_a man_n so_o a_o afflict_a extremity_n for_o the_o body_n in_o their_o estate_n for_o want_v of_o bread_n for_o want_v of_o clothes_n in_o want_n of_o house_n in_o want_n of_o fire_n in_o want_n of_o all_o necessary_n that_o can_v be_v their_o body_n disease_v full_a of_o pain_n their_o body_n deform_v their_o very_a part_n of_o nature_n exceed_v loathsome_a unfit_a for_o service_n every_o way_n in_o all_o outward_a appearance_n for_o their_o outward_a estate_n extreme_o miserable_a and_o yet_o together_o with_o this_o extreme_o wicked_a also_o extreme_o sinful_a go_v into_o their_o house_n there_o be_v nothing_o but_o beggary_n and_o misery_n there_o and_o there_o be_v as_o much_o wickedness_n and_o iniquity_n as_o beggary_n and_o misery_n it_o may_v be_v these_o poor_a creature_n thus_o miserable_a their_o heart_n be_v full_a of_o atheism_n live_v without_o a_o god_n in_o the_o world_n know_v not_o god_n know_v not_o christ_n know_v nothing_o of_o their_o immortal_a soul_n know_v nothing_o of_o another_o life_n live_v just_a like_o bruit_n creature_n in_o all_o filthy_a uncleanness_n it_o may_v be_v suffer_v for_o their_o wickedness_n before_o man_n be_v whip_v put_v in_o the_o stock_n or_o cage_n lie_v in_o dark_a dungeon_n in_o cold_a nakedness_n and_o hunger_n and_o all_o for_o their_o sin_n and_o wickedness_n what_o woeful_a creature_n be_v these_o and_o how_o many_o hundred_o nay_o thousand_o have_v you_o of_o this_o kind_n of_o creature_n in_o this_o stepney_n that_o be_v such_o object_n of_o pity_n that_o i_o think_v shall_v make_v all_o your_o heart_n bleed_v when_o you_o consider_v they_o and_o how_o many_o you_o have_v of_o they_o in_o this_o place_n be_v it_o i_o confess_v that_o the_o charge_n of_o soul_n in_o this_o place_n shall_v lie_v upon_o i_o i_o shall_v yourselves_o why_o shall_v i_o be_v discontent_v because_o i_o
have_v this_o or_o that_o cross_n do_v not_o god_n make_v my_o condition_n a_o thousand_o time_n better_o than_o many_o hundred_o that_o live_v near_o to_o i_o do_v not_o i_o every_o day_n nay_o every_o hour_n almost_o in_o the_o street_n see_v hundred_o of_o people_n i_o will_v be_v loath_a to_o change_v condition_n withal_o and_o who_o have_v make_v the_o difference_n who_o have_v put_v a_o difference_n between_o you_o and_o they_o you_o that_o have_v estate_n and_o comfortable_a yoke-fellow_n and_o child_n about_o you_o that_o have_v your_o table_n spread_v and_o house_n furnish_v and_o lodging_n and_o good_a friend_n and_o god_n have_v make_v know_v himself_o and_o give_v his_o ordinance_n unto_o you_o and_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n oh_o what_o a_o difference_n be_v between_o you_o and_o such_o wretched_a creature_n as_o these_o be_v and_o yet_o there_o be_v many_o of_o such_o poor_a creature_n thus_o afflict_v that_o may_v be_v look_v upon_o themselves_o and_o do_v acknowledge_v they_o be_v miserable_a creature_n in_o regard_n of_o affliction_n but_o never_o think_v themselves_o miserable_a in_o regard_n of_o sin_n they_o understand_v not_o that_o misery_n but_o as_o i_o suppose_v though_o you_o be_v not_o in_o that_o extremity_n of_o poverty_n that_o other_o be_v yet_o many_o think_v themselves_o miserable_a by_o affliction_n that_o little_o think_v beggary_n and_o misery_n now_o come_v to_o live_v like_o a_o man_n of_o fashion_n will_v not_o thou_o think_v it_o a_o woeful_a evil_n for_o thou_o upon_o a_o sudden_a to_o be_v put_v in_o the_o same_o beggary_n thou_o be_v in_o before_o in_o rag_n and_o beg_v for_o a_o farthing_n if_o now_o thy_o estate_n be_v change_v and_o thou_o ride_v in_o thy_o coach_n and_o have_v all_o thy_o heart_n sin_n be_v a_o great_a misery_n than_o if_o there_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o change_n of_o thy_o estate_n if_o god_n shall_v give_v thou_o a_o heart_n to_o turn_v from_o thy_o sin_n perhaps_o thy_o neighbour_n and_o so_o they_o have_v commend_v they_o to_o other_o and_o those_o to_o other_o and_o so_o they_o be_v commend_v from_o one_o to_o another_o that_o either_o know_v they_o or_o by_o the_o recommendation_n of_o they_o that_o do_v know_v they_o and_o so_o be_v relieve_v but_o to_o go_v in_o such_o a_o extravagant_a way_n from_o door_z to_z door_z a_o beg_v their_o bread_n i_o hardly_o think_v you_o can_v give_v example_n of_o any_o godly_a have_v be_v so_o and_o if_o god_n will_v but_o turn_v the_o heart_n of_o some_o poor_a wretched_a miserable_a creature_n so_o that_o there_o may_v appear_v godliness_n in_o they_o god_n will_v provide_v for_o they_o it_o be_v true_a though_o there_o be_v not_o godliness_n we_o shall_v not_o let_v they_o perish_v god_n forbid_v let_v they_o not_o want_v that_o which_o be_v absolute_o necessary_a let_v they_o not_o starve_v yet_o the_o scripture_n say_v let_v they_o that_o will_v not_o work_v not_o eat_v let_v not_o we_o do_v more_o than_o the_o scripture_n command_v to_o give_v liberty_n in_o such_o way_n as_o increase_v sin_n and_o let_v not_o we_o nourish_v that_o which_o nourish_v sin_n but_o inquire_v after_o they_o that_o be_v godly_a and_o relieve_v they_o and_o if_o poor_a people_n will_v depend_v upon_o god_n in_o his_o way_n he_o will_v provide_v for_o they_o and_o know_v if_o thy_o affliction_n shall_v not_o be_v take_v away_o if_o thy_o sin_n be_v go_v thou_o will_v be_v far_o more_o able_a to_o bear_v thy_o affliction_n for_o a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o sore_a shoulder_n can_v bear_v a_o burden_n but_o if_o the_o soreness_n be_v go_v he_o can_v bear_v it_o the_o better_a so_o thy_o affliction_n will_v not_o be_v so_o heavy_a if_o thou_o be_v godly_a as_o it_o be_v now_o nay_o it_o will_v be_v sanctify_v to_o thou_o and_o thou_o will_v bear_v they_o the_o better_a i_o confess_v this_o be_v hard_a to_o convince_v they_o that_o be_v ignorant_a of_o god_n &_o the_o nature_n of_o grace_n but_o certain_o there_o be_v a_o truth_n in_o these_o thing_n therefore_o though_o it_o be_v rare_a for_o god_n to_o come_v in_o with_o his_o save_a grace_n into_o the_o heart_n of_o such_o that_o be_v miserable_o afflict_v though_o it_o be_v true_a their_o affliction_n do_v not_o hinder_v for_o be_v it_o not_o for_o their_o wickedness_n they_o may_v be_v happy_a i_o will_v not_o make_v their_o affliction_n great_a than_o it_o be_v they_o may_v be_v happy_a be_v it_o not_o for_o their_o wickedness_n but_o we_o see_v it_o so_o rare_a because_o their_o education_n be_v such_o there_o be_v no_o good_a great_a will_n god_n grace_n be_v if_o god_n have_v some_o of_o these_o poor_a creature_n in_o this_o congregation_n at_o this_o present_a and_o speak_v to_o their_o heart_n how_o much_o more_o rare_a will_v it_o be_v because_o it_o be_v not_o often_o see_v what_o if_o god_n pass_v by_o great_a rich_a man_n noble_a man_n prince_n and_o shall_v look_v into_o thy_o cottage_n and_o on_o thy_o miserable_a estate_n and_o convert_v thy_o soul_n and_o show_v mercy_n to_o thou_o what!_o for_o god_n to_o set_v his_o heart_n upon_o thou_o and_o give_v the_o blood_n of_o his_o son_n for_o thou_o
