sit_v with_o christ_n and_o his_o disciple_n at_o the_o table_n 4._o the_o occasion_n or_o cause_n of_o so_o many_o publican_n and_o sinner_n be_v present_a viz._n because_o there_o be_v many_o that_o follow_v christ_n touch_v the_o first_o point_n namely_o that_o levi_n make_v a_o feast_n or_o banquet_n it_o may_v be_v demand_v wherefore_o or_o to_o what_o end_n he_o make_v such_o a_o feast_n at_o embrace_v his_o sinful_a motion_n which_o he_o sugge_v to_o thou_o and_o give_v entertainment_n to_o they_o thou_o do_v not_o true_o hate_v he_o but_o rather_o love_v and_o like_v well_o of_o he_o and_o thou_o have_v to_o do_v with_o he_o though_o he_o appear_v not_o to_o thou_o in_o a_o bodily_a shape_n therefore_o take_v heed_n and_o beware_v of_o love_v or_o be_v delight_v at_o any_o time_n spiritual_a and_o against_o all_o evil_n that_o may_v hurt_v they_o let_v all_o believer_n in_o christ_n comfort_v themselves_o with_o the_o assurance_n of_o this_o special_a love_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o this_o special_a care_n which_o he_o take_v for_o their_o good_a he_o be_v kind_a and_o love_a to_o his_o natural_a mother_n and_o kindred_n much_o more_o love_a be_v he_o to_o those_o of_o his_o spiritual_a kindred_n and_o much_o more_o careful_a to_o do_v they_o good_a and_o to_o keep_v they_o from_o evil_a as_o he_o be_v their_o elder_a brother_n by_o grace_n and_o adoption_n so_o he_o be_v a_o most_o kind_a and_o love_a brother_n to_o they_o all_o etc._n etc._n use_v 3_o use_v 3_o see_v the_o excellency_n of_o this_o grace_n of_o true_a faith_n in_o that_o it_o do_v so_o christ_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o husband_n of_o his_o true_a church_n great_a be_v the_o worth_n and_o excellency_n of_o faith_n which_o thus_o near_o unit_v the_o believer_n to_o christ_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o other_o grace_n but_o only_a faith_n that_o can_v do_v it_o by_o this_o alone_a he_o come_v to_o sâ—_n dwell_v in_o their_o heart_n ephes_n 3._o 17._o well_o therefore_o may_v it_o be_v call_v a_o precious_a faith_n 2_o pet._n 1._o 1._o let_v this_o move_v we_o above_o all_o grace_n to_o labour_v for_o true_a faith_n in_o christ_n that_o so_o we_o may_v come_v to_o of_o spiritual_a kindred_n with_o christ_n by_o faith_n this_o be_v much_o more_o to_o be_v look_v after_o then_o natural_a kindred_n or_o wealth_n or_o beauty_n etc._n etc._n it_o follow_v verse_n 35._o for_o who_o soever_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n here_o our_o saviour_n allege_v a_o reason_n to_o prove_v that_o his_o disciple_n who_o believe_v in_o he_o be_v his_o mother_n and_o brethren_n in_o spiritual_a manner_n viz._n because_o they_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o property_n of_o those_o only_o which_o be_v his_o spiritual_a kindred_n do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n that_o be_v yield_v obedience_n to_o his_o reveal_v will_v set_v down_o in_o his_o word_n quest_n quest._n see_v it_o be_v faith_n and_o not_o obedience_n or_o good_a work_n that_o make_v man_n to_o be_v of_o christ_n spiritual_a kindred_n why_o do_v not_o our_o saviour_n mention_v the_o faith_n of_o his_o disciple_n rather_o than_o their_o obedience_n answ_n answ_n 1._o by_o mention_v obedience_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n he_o do_v not_o exclude_v but_o include_v faith_n for_o to_o believe_v in_o christ_n be_v one_o part_n of_o that_o will_n of_o god_n which_o be_v to_o be_v obey_v 1_o joh._n 3._o 23._o this_o be_v his_o commandment_n that_o we_o believe_v in_o the_o name_n of_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n and_o joh._n 6._o 40._o this_o be_v the_o will_n of_o their_o effectual_a call_n it_o consist_v not_o in_o one_o or_o two_o or_o a_o few_o good_a action_n perform_v by_o fit_n now_o and_o then_o but_o in_o a_o constant_a course_n of_o holiness_n throughout_o their_o whole_a life_n after_o their_o call_n they_o do_v not_o begin_v in_o the_o spirit_n and_o end_n in_o the_o flesh_n but_o they_o continue_v in_o well-doing_n 3._o it_o be_v the_o obedience_n of_o the_o whole_a man_n both_o inward_a and_o outward_a be_v careful_a to_o glorify_v god_n both_o in_o their_o body_n and_o spirit_n 1_o cor._n 6._o 20._o so_o much_o of_o the_o god_n by_o a_o holy_a course_n of_o life_n in_o way_n of_o obedience_n to_o his_o will_n nay_o on_o the_o contrary_a their_o life_n be_v profane_a and_o wicked_a spend_v in_o the_o practice_n of_o sin_n and_o disobedience_n against_o god_n yea_o in_o gross_a sin_n as_o swear_v drunkenness_n uncleanness_n and_o the_o like_a what_o be_v to_o be_v think_v of_o such_o shall_v we_o think_v that_o before_o name_v it_o can_v be_v no_o sure_a evidence_n to_o they_o of_o the_o soundness_n of_o their_o faith_n nor_o of_o their_o spiritual_a kindred_n with_o christ_n use_v 3_o use_v 3._o labour_v to_o approve_v ourselves_o to_o have_v spiritual_a kindred_n with_o christ_n by_o faith_n by_o make_v conscience_n of_o sincere_a obedience_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o our_o life_n let_v none_o rest_v in_o a_o naked_a profession_n of_o faith_n but_o be_v careful_a to_o show_v it_o by_o the_o fruit_n of_o good_a work_n and_o by_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n see_v matth._n 7._o 21._o it_o be_v a_o dead_a faith_n that_o be_v separate_v from_o good_a work_n and_o from_o obedience_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n such_o a_o faith_n can_v never_o unite_v one_o to_o christ_n nor_o make_v he_o to_o be_v of_o his_o spiritual_a kindred_n beware_v therefore_o of_o rest_v in_o this_o dead_a counterfeit_a faith_n of_o hypocrite_n and_o labour_n to_o show_v forth_o the_o power_n and_o life_n of_o a_o true_a faith_n by_o thy_o care_n and_o conscience_n to_o do_v the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o thy_o life_n thus_o shall_v thou_o prove_v to_o other_o and_o to_o thy_o own_o conscience_n that_o thou_o be_v one_o of_o christ_n brethren_n and_o kindred_n look_v therefore_o unto_o this_o and_o be_v careful_a of_o it_o those_o that_o have_v alliance_n or_o kindred_n with_o great_a person_n
