cheerful_a heart_n to_o rest_v in_o the_o lord_n so_o wise_a dispose_n of_o thing_n without_o that_o anxiety_n and_o discruciate_a care_n wherewith_o man_n do_v usual_o afflict_v themselves_o or_o else_o rather_o to_o show_v the_o reason_n why_o man_n be_v not_o content_v and_o patient_a and_o cheerful_a in_o all_o condition_n though_o all_o thing_n that_o god_n do_v be_v so_o beautiful_a in_o their_o time_n to_o wit_n either_o because_o man_n be_v natural_o so_o take_v up_o with_o the_o desire_n and_o thought_n and_o care_n of_o worldly_a thing_n and_o be_v so_o exercise_v with_o the_o it_o to_o good_a so_o neither_o ought_v man_n to_o forbear_v or_o delay_n relieve_v the_o poor_a out_o of_o vain_a and_o idle_a pretence_n and_o fear_n because_o they_o know_v not_o what_o god_n may_v do_v to_o they_o or_o they_o or_o other_o in_o time_n to_o come_v though_o man_n know_v not_o how_o their_o bounty_n shall_v tend_v to_o their_o advantage_n yet_o god_n can_v bring_v it_o about_o though_o it_o be_v unlawful_a to_o rejoice_v simple_o in_o the_o destruction_n of_o the_o worst_a of_o man_n especial_o if_o that_o joy_n arise_v from_o a_o private_a grudge_n and_o desire_v of_o revenge_n or_o from_o any_o secret_a hope_n that_o man_n may_v have_v of_o any_o advantage_n that_o will_v thereby_o redound_v to_o themselves_o according_a to_o that_o prov._n 24.17_o rejoice_v not_o when_o thy_o enemy_n fall_v etc._n etc._n yet_o certain_o it_o be_v not_o only_o lawful_a but_o commendable_a to_o rejoice_v and_o triumph_v at_o the_o destruction_n of_o wicked_a man_n out_o of_o zeal_n for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n because_o thereby_o his_o power_n justice_n truth_n and_o holiness_n be_v manifest_v and_o his_o tender_a care_n over_o his_o servant_n in_o take_v their_o part_n against_o their_o wicked_a adversary_n and_o with_o respect_n to_o the_o peace_n and_o welfare_n which_o may_v redound_v to_o the_o people_n of_o god_n by_o their_o destruction_n and_o the_o innocent_a laugh_v they_o to_o scorn_v that_o be_v they_o look_v upon_o they_o as_o such_o who_o just_o deserve_v to_o be_v laugh_v to_o scorn_v to_o wit_n because_o their_o way_n have_v be_v so_o foolish_a and_o ridiculous_a and_o because_o they_o be_v take_v through_o the_o overrule_a providence_n of_o god_n in_o their_o own_o craft_n and_o be_v quite_o disappoint_v of_o their_o design_n and_o hope_n verse_n 20._o whereas_o our_o substance_n be_v not_o cut_v down_o but_o the_o remnant_n of_o they_o the_o fire_n consume_v that_o be_v whereas_o the_o estate_n of_o the_o righteous_a which_o be_v get_v in_o a_o just_a way_n be_v not_o ruin_v for_o they_o be_v the_o righteous_a with_o who_o eliphaz_n here_o join_v himself_o and_o his_o friend_n or_o more_o general_o whilst_o our_o life_n and_o that_o whereby_o our_o life_n be_v maintain_v and_o by_o which_o we_o and_o our_o family_n do_v subsist_v be_v not_o cut_v down_o the_o fire_n of_o god_n wrath_n utter_o consume_v the_o wicked_a even_o all_o that_o be_v leave_v of_o their_o family_n and_o estate_n so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o remnant_n nor_o memorial_n leave_v of_o they_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o destruction_n of_o sodom_n and_o her_o neighbour_a city_n whereto_o it_o be_v very_o probable_a that_o eliphaz_n may_v in_o these_o word_n have_v special_a respect_n and_o indeed_o with_o the_o like_a phrase_n the_o prophet_n isaiah_n express_v the_o utter_a destruction_n of_o babylon_n isa_n 14.22_o i_o will_v rise_v up_o against_o they_o say_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n and_o cut_v off_o from_o babylon_n the_o name_n and_o remnant_n etc._n etc._n now_o this_o eliphaz_n insert_v here_o either_o as_o a_o reason_n why_o the_o righteous_a rejoice_v and_o triumph_v when_o the_o wicked_a be_v destroy_v as_o he_o have_v say_v in_o the_o forego_n verse_n to_o wit_n because_o god_n therein_o put_v a_o difference_n betwixt_o the_o wicked_a and_o they_o or_o else_o as_o a_o introduction_n to_o the_o follow_a exhortation_n wherein_o he_o persuade_v job_n to_o repent_v and_o turn_v unto_o god_n whereas_o god_n spare_v the_o righteous_a and_o the_o fire_n of_o his_o wrath_n consume_v the_o wicked_a foot_n and_o lose_v so_o it_o be_v a_o absurd_a and_o foolish_a thing_n to_o bestow_v honour_n upon_o a_o fool_n and_o that_o because_o honour_v so_o dispose_v no_o man_n will_v esteem_v neither_o be_v honour_n there_o in_o its_o proper_a place_n it_o be_v as_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v hang_v a_o smoky_a kitchen_n with_o curious_a tapestry_a hang_n or_o set_v a_o chamber-pot_n upon_o the_o cupboard_n head_n among_o the_o plate_n see_v the_o note_n above_o vers_n 1._o verse_n 9_o as_o a_o thorn_n go_v up_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o drunkard_n so_o be_v a_o parable_n in_o the_o mouth_n of_o fool_n if_o by_o the_o go_n up_o of_o a_o thorn_n into_o the_o drunkard_n hand_n be_v mean_v the_o run_n of_o it_o into_o the_o flesh_n of_o his_o hand_n than_o the_o meaning_n of_o this_o affect_v to_o be_v admire_v do_v intrude_v themselves_o into_o thing_n above_o their_o reach_n and_o will_v however_o oppose_v other_o that_o they_o may_v seem_v to_o know_v more_o than_o other_o and_o so_o thereby_o discover_v great_a ignorance_n folly_n and_o madness_n but_o the_o most_o and_o best_a expositor_n hold_v that_o have_v before_o speak_v of_o the_o vanity_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o natural_a philosophy_n and_o how_o this_o be_v altogether_o ineffectual_a for_o the_o reform_n of_o man_n life_n here_o he_o show_v how_o he_o betake_v himself_o to_o the_o study_n of_o moral_a philosophy_n and_o i_o give_v my_o heart_n to_o know_v wisdom_n that_o be_v the_o wisdom_n of_o moral_n political_a and_o practical_a knowledge_n or_o the_o wisdom_n of_o virtue_n and_o because_o every_o thing_n be_v best_a know_v by_o know_v its_o contrary_a to_o know_v madness_n and_o folly_n that_o be_v to_o know_v what_o vice_n be_v and_o to_o observe_v and_o understand_v the_o way_n of_o those_o that_o live_v wicked_o foolish_o and_o mad_o i_o perceive_v that_o this_o also_o be_v vexation_n of_o spirit_n to_o wit_n because_o he_o find_v that_o all_o man_n come_v short_a of_o this_o wisdom_n neither_o can_v the_o great_a perfection_n of_o moral_a wisdom_n so_o far_o as_o it_o be_v attainable_a by_o humane_a endeavour_n ever_o yield_v any_o full_a rest_n or_o satisfaction_n to_o the_o wickedness_n of_o folly_n even_o of_o foolishness_n and_o madness_n that_o be_v the_o exceed_a wickedness_n folly_n and_o madness_n that_o be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o ungodly_a man_n and_o observable_a it_o be_v that_o first_o he_o buckle_v himself_o to_o search_v out_o wisdom_n and_o then_o afterward_o to_o discover_v the_o folly_n of_o wickedness_n that_o so_o the_o first_o may_v be_v a_o antidote_n against_o the_o second_o but_o see_v the_o note_n chap._n 1.13_o 17._o some_o conceive_v that_o solomon_n drift_n in_o this_o verse_n be_v to_o show_v that_o have_v find_v the_o reason_n of_o god_n work_n to_o be_v above_o his_o reach_n he_o address_v himself_o in_o the_o next_o place_n to_o observe_v the_o ordinary_a passage_n of_o man_n life_n but_o i_o rather_o conceive_v dust_n to_o wit_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o life_n and_o the_o action_n and_o employment_n thereof_o and_o thus_o solomon_n set_v forth_o the_o different_a estate_n of_o the_o live_n and_o the_o dead_a thereby_o to_o make_v way_n to_o that_o follow_a exhortation_n vers_fw-la 7._o wherein_o again_o he_o persuade_v man_n to_o that_o forementioned_a remedy_n of_o the_o themselves_o hereby_o to_o provide_v that_o they_o may_v both_o live_v comfort_o and_o die_v happy_o the_o knowledge_n of_o this_o be_v a_o advantage_n to_o make_v they_o take_v off_o their_o that_o may_v be_v in_o soul_n depart_v but_o with_o respect_n to_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o life_n and_o to_o man_n affection_n here_o to_o wit_n that_o when_o man_n be_v dead_a they_o mind_v no_o more_o the_o riches_n honour_n and_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n nor_o can_v any_o long_o enjoy_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v here_o below_o which_o be_v more_o full_o express_v in_o the_o follow_a
