care_n of_o good_a work_n when_o you_o teach_v that_o man_n be_v justify_v only_o by_o faith_n in_o christ_n for_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v have_v all_o his_o sin_n forgive_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o other_o shall_v also_o be_v and_o that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o s._n paul_n say_v how_o can_v we_o which_o be_v dead_a to_o sin_n yet_o live_v therein_o as_o much_o as_o to_o say_v it_o be_v unpossible_a for_o to_o be_v alive_a to_o sin_n and_o to_o be_v dead_a to_o sin_n at_o the_o same_o time_n which_o be_v so_o flat_a and_o perfect_a contrary_n can_v be_v he_o that_o be_v alive_a be_v not_o dead_a and_o he_o that_o be_v dead_a be_v not_o alive_a thus_o now_o the_o matter_n stand_v we_o that_o be_v all_o true_a christian_n be_v dead_a to_o sin_n how_o can_v we_o then_o live_v to_o sin_n and_o so_o if_o it_o be_v unpossible_a for_o a_o man_n which_o be_v a_o right_a christian_a and_o therefore_o dead_a to_o sin_n yet_o to_o live_v in_o it_o how_o shall_v we_o continue_v still_o in_o sin_n that_o grace_n may_v abound_v well_o may_v some_o man_n say_v this_o be_v a_o clear_a case_n that_o such_o contrary_n as_o these_o to_o be_v alive_a and_o to_o be_v dead_a can_v stand_v heavenly_a and_o glorious_a life_n than_o we_o that_o die_v to_o sin_n with_o he_o must_v needs_o be_v raise_v up_o also_o with_o he_o into_o the_o partake_n of_o that_o spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a life_n as_o the_o kill_n and_o bury_v of_o sin_n be_v call_v the_o put_v off_o the_o old_a man_n so_o this_o rise_n with_o christ_n unto_o new_a of_o life_n be_v call_v the_o put_v on_o of_o the_o new_a man_n this_o be_v to_o walk_v in_o true_a holiness_n see_v all_o this_o be_v thus_o i_o pray_v you_o how_o can_v he_o be_v a_o true_a christian_a that_o do_v continue_v in_o sin_n shall_v we_o continue_v still_o in_o sin_n that_o grace_n may_v abound_v you_o see_v it_o manifest_v that_o a_o true_a christian_a be_v so_o far_o off_o from_o continue_v in_o sin_n that_o contrariwise_o he_o do_v say_v he_o we_o be_v graft_v to_o the_o similitude_n of_o his_o death_n even_o so_o shall_v we_o be_v to_o the_o similitude_n of_o his_o resurrection_n thus_o it_o be_v in_o the_o natural_a plant_n as_o we_o also_o do_v know_v that_o when_o the_o science_n be_v graft_v into_o a_o stock_n and_o that_o be_v dig_v into_o the_o ground_n if_o the_o stock_n die_v they_o die_v with_o it_o and_o if_o the_o stock_n do_v grow_v and_o spring_v up_o they_o do_v grow_v and_o spring_v up_o with_o it_o even_o so_o the_o holy_a apostle_n teach_v that_o a_o man_n be_v by_o faith_n graft_v into_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v graft_v and_o do_v grow_v to_o he_o by_o a_o mystical_a and_o spiritual_a union_n to_o die_v with_o he_o that_o be_v as_o christ_n die_v to_o slay_v sin_n so_o he_o die_v to_o sin_n or_o sin_n by_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n death_n be_v slay_v in_o he_o likewise_o he_o be_v graft_v unto_o the_o similitude_n of_o his_o resurrection_n that_o be_v he_o receive_v the_o sap_n of_o life_n from_o christ_n as_o from_o the_o stock_n into_o which_o he_o be_v graft_v and_o so_o do_v live_v and_o grow_v up_o by_o he_o then_o you_o see_v by_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o holy_a apostle_n that_o from_o the_o near_a conjunction_n which_o the_o faithful_a have_v with_o christ_n these_o two_o thing_n go_v inseparable_o together_o the_o die_a to_o sin_n and_o the_o rise_n to_o the_o new_a life_n even_o the_o life_n of_o righteousness_n for_o how_o shall_v a_o man_n be_v in_o christ_n and_o separate_v these_o as_o a_o man_n can_v have_v justification_n except_o he_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o if_o he_o be_v in_o he_o he_o must_v needs_o with_o it_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o grace_n and_o power_n of_o sanctification_n so_o also_o if_o he_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o one_o part_n of_o sanctification_n he_o can_v not_o be_v void_a of_o the_o other_o if_o he_o be_v dead_a and_o bury_v with_o christ_n he_o shall_v also_o rise_v with_o he_o whereby_o this_o be_v manifest_a that_o where_o holy_a life_n appear_v not_o in_o a_o man_n there_o sin_n be_v not_o slay_v for_o where_o there_o be_v a_o death_n and_o a_o burial_n of_o sin_n there_o must_v needs_o be_v have_v not_o be_v graft_v with_o he_o to_o the_o similitude_n of_o his_o death_n what_o then_o be_v all_o those_o good_a work_n which_o they_o work_v that_o together_o with_o those_o good_a work_n do_v mingle_v so_o many_o bad_a vice_n all_o their_o life_n long_o sure_o their_o good_a deed_n be_v even_o such_o as_o the_o alm_n fast_v and_o prayer_n of_o the_o pharisy_n which_o christ_n do_v reprove_v mat._n 6._o take_v this_o for_o a_o most_o undoubted_a truth_n that_o there_o be_v no_o holy_a life_n but_o from_o the_o virtue_n of_o christ_n resurrection_n there_o be_v no_o partake_n of_o the_o true_a life_n of_o god_n and_o consequent_o not_o of_o any_o action_n of_o that_o true_a life_n but_o from_o hence_o that_o a_o man_n be_v graft_v with_o christ_n to_o the_o similitude_n of_o his_o resurrection_n and_o therefore_o all_o the_o good_a deed_n which_o man_n do_v that_o have_v not_o sin_v first_o slay_v in_o they_o proceed_v but_o of_o vainglory_n self-love_n or_o from_o other_o such_o sinister_a respect_n what_o be_v it_o when_o a_o profane_a dispiser_n of_o god_n word_n a_o horrible_a abuser_n of_o god_n name_n by_o swear_v a_o covetous_a a_o proud_a and_o a_o haughty_a person_n or_o a_o idolater_n do_v alm_n deed_n the_o poor_a indeed_o be_v relieve_v by_o it_o but_o they_o do_v not_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a before_o god_n and_o now_o touch_v the_o word_n that_o follow_v know_v this_o that_o our_o old_a man_n be_v crucify_v with_o he_o that_o the_o body_n of_o sin_n may_v be_v destroy_v that_o henceforth_o we_o shall_v not_o serve_v sin_n for_o he_o that_o be_v dead_a be_v free_v from_o sin_n this_o be_v so_o notable_a a_o matter_n touch_v our_o engraft_v into_o christ_n and_o grow_v together_o with_o he_o to_o the_o similitude_n of_o his_o death_n and_o resurrection_n the_o apostle_n do_v yet_o lay_v it_o open_v further_o and_o so_o come_v to_o that_o other_o point_n which_o i_o note_v of_o not_o return_v back_o again_o from_o a_o most_o filthy_a garment_n the_o put_v on_o the_o new_a man_n be_v as_o the_o put_n on_o of_o a_o pure_a and_o clean_a garment_n then_o further_o we_o must_v note_v why_o it_o be_v call_v a_o man_n our_o old_a man_n and_o that_o be_v because_o the_o filthy_a corruption_n have_v by_o nature_n overspread_v all_o part_n of_o man_n both_z within_z and_o without_o all_o the_o power_n and_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o all_o the_o part_n of_o the_o body_n be_v defile_v so_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o pure_a in_o man_n as_o he_o be_v in_o himself_o by_o nature_n the_o power_n and_o dominion_n of_o sin_n have_v get_v the_o mastery_n over_o all_o that_o
ever_o how_o then_o can_v the_o old_a man_n once_o crucify_v ever_o recover_v life_n again_o or_o how_o can_v the_o new_a life_n the_o life_n of_o god_n be_v once_o begin_v be_v utter_o extinct_a in_o any_o see_v the_o apostle_n do_v argue_v upon_o this_o ground_n that_o as_o christ_n can_v not_o alter_v so_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n can_v not_o alter_v how_o then_o shall_v they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o so_o dead_a to_o sin_n yet_o live_v therein_o how_o can_v any_o true_a christian_a man_n continue_v in_o sin_n that_o grace_n may_v abound_v but_o especial_o consider_v how_o contrary_a they_o be_v unto_o this_o place_n which_o hold_v that_o a_o man_n may_v be_v regenerate_v in_o christ_n and_o utter_o fall_v from_o it_o by_o the_o doctrine_n of_o those_o the_o old_a man_n may_v be_v crucify_v and_o slay_v in_o a_o man_n and_o live_v again_o and_o so_o again_o he_o may_v be_v slay_v if_o they_o leave_v place_n for_o repentance_n and_o live_v also_o from_o that_o also_o comparison_n between_o christ_n and_o his_o member_n which_o be_v graft_v into_o he_o but_o let_v these_o pass_v and_o return_v again_o to_o the_o former_a s._n paul_n now_o draw_v from_o hence_o a_o exhortation_n unto_o all_o christian_n that_o see_v their_o profession_n figure_v by_o baptism_n be_v so_o as_o they_o must_v die_v with_o christ_n to_o sin_n and_o rise_v also_o with_o he_o unto_o
