become_v our_o own_o when_o our_o soul_n inform_v it_o and_o feel_v the_o impression_n of_o it_o now_o if_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o person_n when_o unite_v to_o the_o body_n it_o can_v lose_v its_o personality_n by_o go_v out_o of_o it_o nay_o if_o the_o soul_n can_v subsist_v in_o separation_n from_o the_o body_n and_o live_v and_o perform_v all_o the_o action_n of_o a_o rational_a nature_n it_o must_v be_v a_o person_n if_o a_o individual_a subsist_v rational_a nature_n be_v a_o person_n and_o if_o it_o be_v not_o i_o will_v know_v what_o to_o call_v it_o but_o this_o animadverter_n be_v a_o very_a wagg_n and_o banter_n the_o poor_a dean_n most_o unmerciful_o and_o demonstrate_v beyond_o all_o contradiction_n that_o the_o soul_n in_o a_o state_n of_o separation_n can_v be_v a_o the_o body_n can_v be_v the_o same_o person_n with_o the_o man_n because_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n too_o as_o the_o man_n be_v when_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n be_v unite_v which_o be_v well_o observe_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o the_o body_n nor_o a_o part_n the_o whole_a but_o yet_o if_o the_o personality_n be_v not_o compound_v of_o soul_n and_o body_n the_o soul_n may_v be_v the_o whole_a and_o same_o person_n in_o the_o body_n and_o out_o of_o it_o there_o be_v no_o need_n then_o to_o say_v that_o the_o soul_n in_o a_o state_n of_o separation_n be_v every_o individual_a atom_n which_o belong_v to_o they_o before_o be_v yet_o in_o their_o nature_n and_o constitution_n no_o more_o the_o same_o body_n than_o earth_n and_o heaven_n be_v the_o same_o another_o occasion_n say_v that_o all_o the_o suffering_n and_o action_n of_o the_o body_n be_v attribute_v to_o the_o man_n though_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o person_n because_o it_o be_v the_o a_o constituent_a part_n for_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o proper_o part_v of_o the_o person_n but_o the_o soul_n constitute_v a_o embody_a person_n by_o live_v and_o act_v in_o the_o body_n which_o doubt_n it_o be_v that_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o other_o world_n shall_v not_o be_v responsible_a for_o what_o the_o man_n himself_o in_o person_n have_v do_v in_o this_o what_o then_o one_o will_v odd_a and_o unnatural_a that_o the_o soul_n shall_v live_v in_o the_o body_n and_o out_o of_o the_o body_n and_o then_o return_v into_o the_o body_n again_o and_o be_v not_o this_o so_o do_v not_o the_o soul_n first_o live_v in_o the_o body_n and_o after_o what_o we_o call_v death_n live_v out_o of_o the_o body_n and_o shall_v it_o not_o be_v reunite_v to_o the_o body_n again_o at_o the_o resurrection_n and_o how_o do_v this_o change_n the_o soul_n manner_n of_o subsist_v any_o more_o than_o the_o body_n change_v its_o manner_n of_o subsist_v when_o it_o be_v naked_a and_o clothe_v to_o live_v in_o the_o body_n and_o out_o of_o the_o body_n be_v two_o different_a state_n of_o life_n but_o the_o soul_n subsist_v still_o in_o the_o same_o manner_n for_o it_o owe_v not_o its_o subsistence_n to_o the_o body_n and_o can_v neither_o subsist_v more_o nor_o less_o in_o or_o out_o of_o the_o body_n for_o i_o know_v no_o degree_n of_o subsistence_n in_o the_o soul_n though_o there_o be_v of_o life_n and_o action_n what_o be_v be_v and_o what_o subsist_v continue_v to_o be_v but_o that_o which_o be_v so_o odd_a and_o unnatural_a be_v that_o from_o a_o incomplete_a state_n in_o the_o body_n it_o shall_v pass_v to_o a_o personal_a and_o complete_a state_n out_o of_o the_o body_n which_o state_n be_v yet_o preternatural_a to_o it_o and_o then_o fall_v back_o into_o a_o incomplete_a state_n again_o by_o its_o reunion_n to_o the_o body_n at_o the_o resurrection_n which_o yet_o one_o will_v think_v shall_v rather_o improve_v our_o principal_a part_n in_o all_o respect_n not_o mere_o relate_v to_o the_o animal_n life_n as_o the_o bare_a subsistence_n of_o they_o i_o be_o sure_a do_v not_o it_o be_v hard_o to_o guess_v the_o meaning_n of_o such_o gypsie-cant_n and_o therefore_o i_o hope_v you_o and_o he_o will_v pardon_v i_o if_o i_o mistake_v for_o i_o will_v do_v my_o best_a by_o the_o soul_n be_v incomplete_a state_n in_o the_o body_n i_o suppose_v he_o mean_v that_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o body_n be_v a_o incomplete_a person_n and_o by_o the_o personal_a complete_a state_n out_o of_o the_o body_n that_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o complete_a person_n out_o of_o the_o body_n this_o indeed_o sound_v somewhat_o odd_a and_o unnatural_a but_o do_v he_o know_v any_o man_n who_o say_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o incomplete_a person_n in_o the_o body_n and_o a_o complete_a person_n out_o of_o the_o body_n or_o who_o call_v this_o the_o incomplete_a and_o the_o complete_a state_n of_o the_o soul_n those_o who_o affirm_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v the_o person_n say_v that_o it_o be_v the_o same_o person_n in_o the_o body_n and_o out_o of_o it_o but_o that_o it_o live_v in_o different_a state_n in_o the_o body_n and_o out_o of_o it_o and_o that_o its_o state_n in_o this_o mortal_a body_n be_v the_o most_o imperfect_a state_n a_o reasonable_a soul_n can_v live_v in_o that_o the_o state_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o separation_n from_o the_o body_n be_v to_o good_a man_n a_o more_o perfect_a and_o complete_a because_o a_o more_o happy_a state_n and_o therefore_o not_o preternatural_a which_o can_v never_o be_v a_o more_o happy_a here_o be_v no_o such_o unnatural_a change_n as_o he_o dream_v of_o from_o a_o incomplete_a to_o a_o complete_a preternatural_a state_n which_o be_v nonsense_n and_o then_o back_o again_o to_o a_o incomplete_a state_n at_o the_o resurrection_n which_o so_o turn_v his_o own_o stomach_n though_o not_o very_o squeamish_a that_o he_o be_v glad_a to_o qualify_v it_o with_o a_o parenthesis_n which_o i_o defy_v any_o man_n to_o make_v sense_n of_o but_o the_o natural_a progress_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o this_o lapse_v state_n be_v from_o a_o less_o perfect_a to_o a_o more_o perfect_a and_o from_o that_o to_o the_o most_o perfect_a state_n of_o life_n which_o to_o i_o be_v proof_n enough_o that_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o person_n and_o fit_v by_o nature_n to_o live_v in_o all_o these_o different_a state_n or_o it_o be_v impossible_a to_o prove_v peter_n or_o john_n to_o be_v the_o same_o man_n in_o these_o different_a state_n at_o length_n the_o animadverter_n grow_v sensible_a 48._o that_o it_o sound_v very_o absurd_o to_o say_v that_o the_o soul_n in_o a_o state_n of_o separation_n be_v but_o part_n of_o the_o person_n when_o it_o subsist_v by_o itself_o not_o in_o any_o compound_v and_o feel_v itself_o to_o be_v the_o same_o and_o life_n and_o act_n in_o a_o more_o perfect_a and_o happy_a state_n than_o when_o it_o live_v in_o a_o mortal_a body_n and_o therefore_o he_o fence_n against_o these_o two_o objection_n which_o be_v strong_a when_o they_o be_v put_v into_o one_o as_o well_o as_o he_o can_v he_o say_v the_o soul_n in_o a_o state_n of_o separation_n be_v but_o part_n of_o the_o person_n the_o whole_a of_o which_o be_v a_o compound_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n because_o of_o its_o essential_a relation_n to_o a_o compound_v but_o what_o be_v

by_o their_o singular_a essence_n much_o more_o than_o the_o dean_n have_v yet_o he_o think_v he_o have_v also_o make_v a_o more_o close_a union_n between_o they_o and_o therefore_o be_v not_o so_o liable_a to_o the_o charge_n of_o tritheism_n for_o as_o he_o say_v reflect_v upon_o the_o dean_n notion_n 45._o a_o hypothesis_n in_o this_o affair_n which_o leave_v out_o the_o very_a nexus_fw-la the_o natural_a and_o eternal_a union_n or_o leave_v it_o out_o of_o its_o proper_a place_n and_o insist_o upon_o mutual-consciousness_n which_o at_o the_o most_o be_v but_o a_o consequence_n thereof_o want_v the_o principal_a thing_n requisite_a to_o the_o salve_v the_o unity_n of_o the_o godhead_n if_o two_o or_o three_o create_a spirit_n have_v never_o so_o perfect_a a_o mutual_a perspection_n of_o one_o another_o that_o will_v not_o constitute_v they_o one_o thing_n though_o it_o probable_o argue_v they_o to_o be_v so_o and_o but_o probable_o this_o be_v all_o a_o mistake_n individual_a nature_n in_o the_o unity_n of_o the_o godhead_n and_o i_o believe_v the_o dean_n will_v like_v his_o unity_n of_o the_o godhead_n as_o little_a as_o his_o distinction_n he_o represent_v this_o by_o the_o union_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n which_o make_v one_o man_n and_o by_o the_o union_n of_o the_o divine_a and_o humane_a nature_n which_o make_v one_o christ_n as_o you_o see_v by_o what_o i_o have_v already_o cite_v but_o these_o be_v personal_a union_n and_o therefore_o can_v be_v the_o unity_n of_o the_o godhead_n in_o which_o be_v a_o trinity_n of_o distinct_a person_n and_o yet_o as_o far_o as_o i_o can_v possible_o understand_v he_o and_o if_o i_o mistake_v he_o i_o shall_v be_v glad_a for_o many_o reason_n to_o be_v better_o inform_v no_o other_o unity_n will_v understanding_n which_o can_v comprehend_v a_o infinite_a be_v in_o one_o thought_n and_o therefore_o must_v as_o well_o as_o we_o can_v contemplate_v he_o by_o part_n this_o prepare_v his_o way_n to_o make_v three_o spiritual_a 31._o necessary_a being_n of_o these_o three_o divine_a attribute_n goodness_n wisdom_n and_o power_n the_o natural_a union_n of_o which_o make_v one_o god_n and_o a_o natural_a trinity_n in_o unity_n if_o you_o object_n that_o this_o give_v we_o the_o notion_n of_o a_o compound_a deity_n or_o of_o a_o composition_n in_o it_o he_o answer_v this_o difficulty_n by_o
