and_o grace_n of_o christ_n upon_o my_o heart_n he_o put_v this_o temper_n upon_o my_o heart_n and_o make_v it_o able_a to_o close_v with_o itself_o in_o the_o promise_n in_o 2_o corin._n 5.5_o when_o paul_n there_o have_v dispute_v of_o his_o desire_n to_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o the_o gospel_n and_o to_o put_v his_o body_n upon_o suffer_v for_o the_o gospel_n sake_n he_o be_v even_o weary_a of_o the_o world_n and_o will_v fain_o have_v be_v go_v how_o get_v he_o this_o temper_n why_o the_o text_n say_v now_o he_o that_o have_v wrought_v we_o for_o the_o same_o thing_n if_o god_n who_o also_o have_v give_v we_o the_o earnest_n of_o his_o spirit_n it_o be_v a_o great_a while_n before_o we_o can_v be_v bring_v to_o this_o temper_n when_o all_o the_o minister_n tongue_n be_v even_o wear_v to_o the_o stump_n and_o the_o wicked_a will_v be_v wicked_a still_o yet_o the_o lord_n do_v work_v it_o so_o than_o you_o see_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n by_o the_o promise_n work_v upon_o the_o soul_n and_o leave_v a_o dint_n upon_o the_o heart_n and_o so_o bring_v the_o soul_n by_o the_o spirit_n to_o close_v with_o itself_o in_o the_o promise_n and_o hence_o you_o may_v collect_v two_o thing_n for_o your_o information_n in_o this_o kind_n colect_v 1_o first_o that_o the_o believer_n be_v move_v by_o the_o stroke_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o father_n be_v make_v able_a to_o close_v with_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n because_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n do_v fasten_v fit_a and_o frame_v the_o heart_n hereunto_o in_o this_o manner_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o the_o soul_n can_v close_v with_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n too_o why_o because_o the_o spirit_n which_o proceed_v and_o come_v from_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v able_a to_o frame_v the_o soul_n to_o close_v with_o both_o for_o the_o spirit_n have_v something_o of_o the_o father_n and_o something_o of_o the_o son_n and_o therefore_o be_v able_a to_o make_v the_o soul_n to_o close_v with_o both_o 1_o john_n 1.3_o these_o thing_n have_v i_o write_v unto_o you_o that_o you_o may_v have_v fellowship_n with_o we_o holy_a john_n be_v a_o spiritual_a father_n the_o believer_n may_v be_v knit_v to_o the_o person_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n the_o foot_n be_v knit_v to_o the_o head_n by_o the_o continuance_n of_o the_o order_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o member_n thereof_o as_o the_o foot_n be_v knit_v to_o the_o leg_n and_o the_o leg_n to_o the_o thigh_n and_o the_o thigh_n to_o the_o body_n and_o so_o to_o the_o head_n this_o be_v the_o mean_v of_o that_o phrase_n john_n 6.56_o our_o saviour_n press_v this_o hard_a upon_o the_o disciple_n and_o say_v my_o flesh_n be_v meat_n indeed_o and_o my_o blood_n be_v drink_v indeed_o he_o that_o eat_v my_o flesh_n and_o drink_v my_o blood_n dwell_v in_o i_o and_o in_o he_o then_o they_o begin_v to_o wonder_v at_o it_o and_o to_o say_v how_o can_v this_o be_v and_o yet_o christ_n say_v what_o if_o you_o see_v the_o the_o son_n of_o man_n carry_v the_o body_n of_o his_o flesh_n into_o heaven_n you_o will_v think_v it_o more_o hard_a to_o eat_v my_o flesh_n then_o yet_o you_o must_v eat_v judgement_n of_o any_o i_o will_v short_o show_v you_o the_o sum_n of_o those_o argument_n answ_n answ_n which_o either_o side_n hold_v and_o will_v show_v to_o which_o i_o do_v incline_v and_o so_o leave_v the_o point_n to_o the_o judgement_n of_o those_o that_o hear_v it_o to_o incline_v to_o which_o side_n they_o think_v best_a and_o thus_o i_o shall_v wrong_v none_o at_o all_o first_o some_o divine_n wise_a holy_a and_o orthodox_n and_o many_o too_o do_v go_v that_o way_n all_o of_o they_o have_v it_o from_o that_o root_n they_o that_o hold_v that_o the_o soul_n be_v knit_v to_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n first_o have_v two_o reason_n for_o it_o first_o say_v they_o as_o the_o scripture_n reveal_v christ_n to_o we_o so_o also_o our_o heart_n embrace_v he_o and_o close_o with_o he_o but_o the_o scripture_n reveal_v the_o lord_n christ_n more_o often_o and_o frequent_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o manhood_n than_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o godhead_n as_o in_o that_o place_n the_o seed_n of_o the_o woman_n shall_v break_v the_o serpent_n head_n and_o such_o like_a therefore_o the_o understanding_n first_o close_v with_o this_o and_o the_o heart_n first_o receive_v it_o the_o second_o reason_n why_o they_o hold_v this_o be_v thus_o much_o if_o say_v they_o all_o the_o great_a work_n of_o our_o redemption_n both_o sanctification_n and_o justification_n and_o redemption_n be_v wrought_v in_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n and_o as_o by_o a_o channel_n convey_v to_o we_o by_o his_o humane_a nature_n than_o it_o be_v reason_n that_o the_o soul_n shall_v first_o close_v with_o the_o humane_a nature_n but_o it_o be_v so_o that_o all_o the_o great_a work_n of_o justification_n sanctification_n etc._n etc._n be_v all_o accomplish_a in_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n for_o as_o the_o text_n say_v he_o die_v for_o our_o sin_n and_o triumph_v over_o sin_n and_o hell_n and_o death_n therefore_o say_v they_o it_o be_v fit_a that_o the_o soul_n shall_v first_o close_v with_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n and_o this_o be_v the_o life_n and_o pith_n of_o all_o their_o argument_n again_o other_o divine_n and_o they_o be_v wise_a and_o orthodox_n they_o hold_v this_o and_o though_o all_o hold_v the_o main_a substantial_a truth_n of_o eternal_a life_n yet_o they_o differ_v in_o this_o they_o say_v the_o believer_n be_v first_o knit_v to_o the_o deity_n and_o they_o have_v also_o two_o argument_n and_o the_o first_o be_v this_o that_o which_o be_v the_o main_a and_o the_o proper_a object_n of_o faith_n to_o that_o the_o soul_n first_o look_n and_o to_o that_o the_o soul_n be_v first_o unite_v for_o all_o union_n come_v by_o operation_n in_o this_o kind_n but_o the_o godhead_n be_v the_o first_o object_n of_o faith_n in_o believe_v the_o godhead_n and_o the_o three_o person_n of_o trinity_n they_o be_v the_o first_o object_n of_o
so_o second_o some_o again_o be_v malicious_o massacre_v with_o dishonourable_a cruelty_n they_o be_v pull_v the_o flesh_n from_o the_o bone_n and_o burn_v to_o ash_n etc._n etc._n none_o of_o all_o these_o do_v fall_v to_o our_o saviour_n these_o be_v personal_a thing_n they_o belong_v not_o to_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o way_n requisite_a that_o christ_n shall_v undergo_v those_o kind_n of_o death_n mark_v these_o two_o passage_n to_o open_v it_o a_o little_a act_v 2.27_o quote_v out_o of_o psalm_n 16.10_o thou_o will_v not_o leave_v my_o soul_n in_o hell_n neither_o will_v thou_o suffer_v thy_o holy_a one_o to_o see_v corruption_n now_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n do_v see_v corruption_n but_o this_o be_v a_o dishonourable_a infirmity_n for_o christ_n though_o he_o suffer_v for_o we_o yet_o he_o raise_v up_o himself_o from_o the_o vildness_n of_o the_o grave_n and_o see_v no_o corruption_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o dishonour_n to_o he_o john_n 19.33_o 36._o when_o the_o soldier_n find_v our_o saviour_n dead_a they_o break_v not_o his_o leg_n that_o the_o scripture_n may_v be_v fulfil_v which_o say_v not_o a_o bone_n of_o he_o shall_v be_v break_v whatsoever_o dishonour_n our_o saviour_n christ_n do_v submit_v himself_o unto_o he_o be_v willing_a to_o suffer_v but_o what_o be_v not_o by_o law_n require_v and_o what_o be_v not_o grizzeld_v death_n in_o the_o face_n with_o courage_n and_o boldness_n for_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n have_v take_v away_o the_o evil_a of_o thy_o death_n therefore_o be_v not_o thou_o trouble_v with_o it_o nor_o dismay_v by_o it_o there_o be_v no_o bitterness_n in_o that_o pill_n nor_o no_o venom_n in_o that_o cup_n to_o thou_o for_o the_o poison_n be_v go_v therefore_o be_v not_o you_o god_n die_v there_o be_v a_o separation_n from_o all_o sin_n from_o all_o sorrow_n from_o all_o temptation_n never_o to_o be_v assault_v more_o this_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o that_o place_n 2_o cor._n 4.10_o everywhere_o we_o bear_v about_o in_o our_o body_n the_o die_a of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n that_o the_o life_n also_o of_o jesus_n may_v be_v make_v manifest_a in_o our_o mortal_a body_n the_o meaning_n be_v this_o christ_n by_o his_o death_n do_v subdue_v sin_n and_o now_o by_o the_o sorrow_n and_o trouble_n he_o suffer_v and_o by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o death_n there_o be_v a_o unbeliever_n be_v but_o the_o very_a beginning_n of_o all_o their_o other_o plague_n they_o sip_v of_o god_n vengeance_n now_o but_o they_o shall_v have_v the_o full_a cup_n then_o sin_n in_o they_o now_o be_v restrain_v but_o then_o their_o sin_n shall_v take_v full_a possession_n of_o they_o satan_n now_o do_v but_o tempt_v they_o but_o then_o â—e_n shall_v take_v possession_n of_o they_o as_o
